Wasn't sure what to expect. I thought I would get a traditional waffle on a plate but it turned out to be a freshly made rolled up waffle with a customizable concoction of gelato and desirable toppings tucked within. I can't wait to go back and try something different. Only reason this was not a 5 star review was the uncomfortable and sparse seating.

It was alright but no better, to be honest. The gelato was a little wimpy in flavour and had a lot of frozen ice chunks throughout, and somehow ice cream for two came out to twenty bucks (!?!) And the staff felt like they were all channeling their inner Darias and were all just, like, so over it. Next time, we'll just go back to Moo Moo's just around the corner.

I'm actually not an ice cream/gelato/sorbet kind of person but I enjoy trying new things, especially local so, I checked out The Parlour yesterday. The flavor options were appealing. I tried the blueberry sorbet which was tasty. Friendly service. Clean environment. Simple, elegant style.

Delicious. Amazing flavours that make you want to keep coming back for more. It is a small establishment, so it can be crowded at times. Don't let that stop you from getting some gelato. You would be missing out if you did.

A bit expensive but it always feels well worth it, the ice cream, gelato, sorbetto and coffee are all delicious. With a variety of flavours (changing daily) and friendly staff, I would highly recommend the parlour.

Note: they do not take debit!!! Only tap - make sure you bring cash or a credit card. Excellent product, I loved the gelato. We have nothing else like it in the city, and the business uses environmentally friendly bowls, spoons etc. However I did experience a server that was less than polite

What a fabulous group of people who work here. The service is top notch, the prices are good and the food is oh so tasty. They surely help you feel right at home as soon as you open their door. •Preface When I first heard of The Parlor through a friend of a friend, I was immediately intrigued. Rich, creamy, gelato being served from a newly renovated building just steps away from the city's central core. Even though he told me the menu reached exorbitant prices, I still couldn't resist venturing through the narrow side streets, tightly packed with row houses, just to experience what The Parlor had to offer. •Decor What immediately strikes me about the decor is that while it is quite pleasant, it seems like every new little café that opens up has the same type of decor. Wood everywhere, roughed up hardwood floors, and exposed brick. These are all fine mind you, but The Parlor doesn't do anything new or exciting to stand out from the dozens of other hipster downtown café's. The Jazz music was a nice touch though. •Service Nothing much to say here, the service was fast and quite friendly. •Taste Now, there was literally only one flavor of the famous gelato left. That flavor was Vanilla of course. I will certainly be docking a few points for not having a wide selection of gelato. I spent five dollars for a single scoop of gelato served in a plain white plastic cup, with no seasoning or toppings. Now to be fair I did not cough up the extra dough for the toppings as my pockets were already empty after just paying for the single scoop of gelato. But for five dollars I would expect a little more in the presentation department. As for the taste, it was good. Good, but not great. The texture was consistent throughout, the temperature remained constant, and the flavor was perfectly fine. This is all good. But for five dollars? I definitely didn't get my money's worth. If you want bang for your buck, go elsewhere. But for those with deep pockets you probably won't be disappointed. •Final Thoughts The Parlor is decent. If you are in the area and are craving some gelato, and you're loaded with cash, The Parlor is a good choice for you. But for everyone else? Sure, you could go there because it's "new" and "trendy", but you maybe won't be coming back for another visit. That seems quite negative, but don't get me wrong. The Parlor is a good place to get your snack on. It's just not my top pick. If you've read this far you deserve a medal.

They were very friendly. The quiche and coffee were very tasty. It was good they had a high chair for our toddler and the bench outside made for a lovely view of Bannerman Park.

The ice cream is really good and there are lots of fun flavours. It's expensive for what it is but it's nice for a fancy treat or if you're nearby and don't want to go further for something cheaper.

Excellent gelato and sorbetto in a welcoming atmosphere. New flavours come through all the time, so it's worth going back to try different flavours. Staff have always been friendly and patient with sampling flavours before selecting one. I've never tried the coffee, but if it's as high quality as the gleato, I'm sure it's great. Don't be intimidated by a lineup stretching just outside the door. I've never waited more than 10 minutes to get to the front, and sometimes less than 5.

This year during our visit to Newfoundland during the summer this became a go to spot for a late night sweet tooth or a nice hot tea as we walk around town. I have to say, everyone was excellent to deal with and you can tell they really care about what was being served to the customer because the quality of gelato is at a very high level. I’m still dreaming about the ‘Pride Cake’ or ‘BlackBerry & Blueberry’. Beautiful looking storefront too.

All the classics but The Parlour features unique Newfoundland flavours, too. Nothing like ice cream loaded with berries-in-season or a Gingerbread Molasses cone! We dropped in while strolling Victorian-style Bannerman Park just to sweeten the way! Delicious!

Creamy, mellow flavoured gelato with good service. We both enjoyed the strawberry from the flavours we sampled (strawberry, caramel corn, chocolate hazelnut and caramel pretzel). The caramel pretzel didn't really have more than 2 pieces of pretzel crumble, but the caramel flavour was good. Looking forward to trying a decadent bubble waffle and the honeycomb chocolate gelato.

I had an affogato with rum and raisin gelato and it was absolute perfection. The gelato had excellent flavour depth and texture was on point. I was pleasantly surprised that the espresso was so smooth and not bitter, worked well with the gelato, not against it. I will be back to try more! I noticed many people getting waffles.

Fantastic location, and great product. It's a popular spot at the moment, so don't be surprised if there is a line-up - it will go fast. Loved the available flavours, AND the topping selections allow you to put your own spin on whatever gelato you choose. I will be going back as often as possible!

Amazing gelato! Rich, creamy, European style, but with creative local flavours like jam-jams or partridgeberry-molasses. Very good espresso-based drinks and excellent baked goods. I haven’t tried the waffles yet, but look forward to it. The only problem is limited seating (total of 7 stools). Lovely atmosphere and right across from Bannerman Park.

While I'm sure the gelato is to die for, the baked goods and hot chocolate leave much to be desired. A muffin I tried was really dry which is disappointing because I really wanted this to be my morning breakfast spot. The hot chocolate was like luke warm milk.

Went there on a Saturday morning for a coffee and a muffin. Was a great cup of coffee, the muffin was fantastic. Great price. Only complaint would be I felt the cream/sugar station was a bit tight of a space and could have been expanded upon.

TRUELY AMAZING! They have such delicious and unique gelato flavours here; and they are constantly changing them! Additionally, they have the best staff ever!!! They are the friendliest people I've met in Newfoundland. Like for example while we were in there, the staff offered up their phones to help a group of tourist that needed help calling their hotel. If you're in St John's you definitely need to check this place out!
