Good cozy location with good coffee. They have this give and take book shelf which is a really neat idea. Not a fan of the size of the portions of coffee they serve though. The empanadas are incredible though. Best on the island.

Went here for the first time with the idea of exploring a local cafe in St.john's and seems I was at the perfect place. People who love the smell of coffee more than its taste (like me!) do try 'shot in the dark'. What else a person needs in life when good coffee in one hand and good book in another?! Totally recommended :))

Samantha Kristoferson

Good coffee with nice place to sit and enjoy outside.

Johanna Cole

Kate Bisnaire

Great little cafe. Really cozy vibe and tasty food. They often have gluten free options and seem to make most of their baked goods in house.

In the same vein as the Bagel Cafe, a very Georgetown style cafe with good food, good coffee and a reserved quiet experience. It’s a bit off the beaten tourist path but a lovely walk from downtown. In the time I was there there were several lovely people doing work on laptops. Apparently this is a popular place to telecommute from. Or perhaps work on that Doctoral Thesis. You get the Idea. Decent an relaxed. Good for getting away from the busy national chain coffee shops. Also good to support local. Odd that it’s closed in the evening. I would imagine this place would do well with live acoustic music and a larger dinner menu. It’s worth the trip.

Luis Ramirez

Jeremy Hetzel

Delicious fresh, clean food. The wrap tasted so delicious and fresh. The empanada was deliciously filles and flakey. The mocha latte was well made and perfectly balanced between sweet and bitter. The lemonade was a bit sweet. The decor was modern and fun, unfortunately a bit too warm for me, (hot day and I'm not for it!) we would have loved to hang around. They also use recyclables and mostly paper which is awesome!

Gracie Watts

Bianca Felisbino

Georgestown Cafe and Bookshelf is a cute little cafe. It is small but intimate and the food is always good (I suggest their empanadas, expresso brownies, and Mocha Lattes). They use fresh ingredients and in my opinion they have some of the best hot drinks in the city. It is also very child friendly (they have a bookshelf and play area for kids). Overall this cafe is a great place to stop by.

I was visiting the area for a week and came here every morning for coffee. The folks working there were personable and friendly. This little cafe, for me, sets the standard for what a friendly neighborhood cafe should be.

Small portions and expensive. Negative energy vibe from staff. Forgot coffee, had to go up and ask. It should have arrived with food. We were 2 people and 1 person received food first and was almost finished when other arrived. Table was not clean. Had to ask for it to be cleaned. Was then cleaned with a very wet dirty rag. One party went to get napkins to clean up water on table and was scolded for using too many napkins. We are from Ontario and every person in Newfoundland has been wonderful and friendly. This place needs to capture the Newfoundland spirit. Will not recommend or return.

Jill Lowther
