I just decided to try out a new coffee shop today to get some writing done. A few reasons why I give two stars today. 1) The Coffee: The regular coffee was far from exceptional. It was extremely weak, and didn't even give me a boost in energy. It was almost like the grounds were being brewed for the second time. My friend had a café mocha, which tasted the exact same as my black coffee, with a little foam on top. 2) The Food: The sandwich we split, we waited 30 minuets for. When we went back to the counter to see what was taking so long, she had forgotten about the sandwich and had left it on the grill. We then waited another 15 minutes for a sandwich, and let's just say we didn't eat much of it. The chicken was cold and rubbery and the bread wasn't even toasted or warm so it was soggy and very unappetizing. It couldn't have been on the grill for longer than 15 seconds. I don't understand why this happened as there were only about 8 people in there at the time and it was not busy. 3)The Customers: So this fusion coffee shop/bar left me a little confused. Towards the front of the shop there were people studying, working on their laptops and having quiet chats. Towards the back of the shop are slot machines and a bar. Simultaneously, while the students study, there are a group of drunk men using foul language and laughing obnoxiously while playing the slots. This made for a unwelcoming, competitive atmosphere. I was going to give one star, but my friend has been here before and she said it was nothing like this, which I believe. So maybe it was just bad timing, or maybe it depends on who's in the building, but today definitely left me looking for an element of this place to fall in love with.

Element is an essential go-to in the west end of St. John's. They serve delicious food and drinks and the staff are extremely kind. It's a great study spot or place to meet with friends - my book club frequently meets here! The treats are delightful ????

The woman who was working is exceptional! Such a lovely person, great service, I would definitely go back just for the service I received! However, the coffee was not great! It didn't taste burned, it just didn't seem like great beans! I'm sure the other menu items are lovely, but the coffee wasn't for me!

I really enjoyed my time here. The space is bright and beautiful. The server was really nice. The coffee tasted great and they have these tiny bite-size treats that are great companions to the coffee. Will definitely go back. Totally recommended.

It's very handy, with good coffee, tea and tasty food, is quiet, airy, has friendly staff. One quibble is that the sandwiches are a bit small. It's a very nice spot for a chat over coffee with my wife.

I tried there coffee and a brownie both where amazing!! My girlfriend has been there more tham me amd says they have amazing chilli! Staff where amazing as well, super friendly! Nice quite atmosphere most of the time, although it definitely picks up when they have live music or an event on the go. Its a bar and coffee shop so anyone underage must be with an adult in the day and its 19+ after a certain time (I forget now I think around 9 or 10 though). They also have VLTs if thats your thing!!

I went to element to do some work on my laptop and have a tea. They had a couple new teas to try and I ended up ordering a grilled cheese with bacon. It was super good and unexpectedly came with orange slices.

1st time here & I don't think we will be back. I paid over $6 for 2 large regular brew coffees that were absolutely undrinkable. I had a medium roast while my husband waited for a light roast to be brewed. Both didn't taste stale or burnt just horrible not even like coffee. I can't even describe it - so bitter with a lasting after taste. It was late Saturday afternoon.The place was empty except 1 table but of course the Video lottery terminals were all occupied in the back. Sooo disappointed. I don't understand why there were so many good reviews.

The two blonde ladys that I have been served by here are amazing! The brown haired girl burnt my mocha milk and served me cold flavorless soup when I had even had the soup before and it was hot and flavorful. We did get some cookies for the trouble tho!

This place seems a bit odd. It's a cafe that sells coffees, teas and snacks etc. and occasionally has live music; but also sells alcohol and has video lotto machines. I just don't get it; these things don't belong in the same place, in my opinion. Not to mention that it is extemely over priced...$7 for a sandwich?? Come on!!!

It is a pretty casual place with good service. The coffee was quite good and so it should be if you are calling yourself a coffee bar. I had the turkey soup for lunch. It was quite good and it was obvious that it was homemade. I would go back again.
