Despite a recent increase in prices, this location is chronically understaffed. As a result it's not uncommon to have to wait a significant amount of time just to order nevermind actually receive your coffee. Multiple times I've walked in and found only one person working behind the counter, which results in a line at the till and a line waiting for their drinks. Well I prefer waves to Starbucks, I've stopped going to this location simply due to the above.

The staff is nice and friendly, I got a Rooibos Breve Late, it tasted great and looked beautiful. The barista was also helpful and explained, how to make Rooibos espresso, when I decided to buy it to make at home. The coffee shop was very clean, and I felt welcome there :)

A very pleasant coffee shop with a good selection of products (though non coffee beverage options are limited, with the exception of very nice hot chocolate). They recently put in a few extra electrical outlets, which is much appreciated and counter to the general trend.

While there is much to recommend this place, I probably wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, the staff are nice, the seating and atmosphere surprisingly pleasant, and they make a good cup of drip coffee. Unfortunately, as nice as the staff are, they are also slow. Obviously not lazy (they were all working), but also obviously in no hurry. Sadly, as nice as the room is, it's also just a little cooler than even I find comfortable and echos in an intrusive manner. Lastly, (and the only thing I can't forgive) their skill at making an espresso based drink is abysmal. I watched the barista over-steam 3 drinks in a row, the drink sizes are massive and watered down even for drinks such as the cappuccino which is classically quite small. Additionally, half the orders I saw were mistakenly made in 'for here' cups then dumped unceremoniously into to-go containers. In the way of personal experience, the few drinks I tried (Americano, cappuccino, and espresso) were all a little sad. Is a place I -wish- was better especially given the location.

The thing that I like about Waves is their bagged espresso actually tastes like getting a shot at the cafe, not so true at other coffee places. This location doesn't seem as busy as the coffee spots on the block have always been able to get a table with out a waiting.

This is my husband's favourite coffee house because of its welcoming atmosphere. Today I joined him there and had a "breakfast samosa" -- it was filling and delicious, heated in their convection oven. Scrambled egg, tiny cubes of potato, mild curry flavor, accompanied by a tasty mango chutney. Under $4. Great deal.

Love the patio. Good coffee. Place looks clean and tended to. Here again on patio today with mom and the wee dogs. Had great service! The girl helped carried out the plates for me to the patio while I fixed the coffees. Just love the patio and friendly people on it. Large coffees were on sale today. Not sure if it's a weekly thing but today is Wednesday if it is. Had an orange and cranberry scone and they cut it in two and heated it for us. Was fresh and very tasty.

This wad an awful experience. The location was great and drink/snack options were plentiful. My soy latte was good. BUT we waited 15 minutes for a green tea matcha frappe to be made! The barista was scattered and kept making other drinks in between completing the frappe. When we finally got it, it was horrible and had to be remade. I was sitting on the patio ALONE for 20 minutes drinking my latte abs was done it before my daughter got her grape and joined me outside. Pathetic!

Really love their spinach feta pastry which I always get from this location! Today I got a Waves sized Belgian iced mocha with dark chocolate. I asked for whipped cream and I think it’s mixed into my drink; I was expecting it to be topped. Drink too longer than expected as it was busy during weekday breakfast time

I love Waves, it is my favourite coffee place. The only problems with this location I've ever had is they seem to always be out of stock of sticky toffee pudding (although they might have just removed that from the menu altogether to my devastation) and they are a little short with the amount of chocolate they use in any chocolate containing drink. Anything with chocolate (i.e. mocha - I recommend the dark chocolate) is really well done here. I had a black drip coffee which was also good and fresh at lunch time. We came at the busiest time of day yet service and table turnover was still pretty fast. My rating does not take any food into consideration since we only had drinks.

Nice and bright Waves location in New West. It’s spacious and has both indoor and patio dining areas. The iced drinks we got were yummy and the service from the guy at the till was great. The drink took a little long but I think there was a trainee and it was a hot day so they may have been backed up with orders. This is a convenient location when you’re strolling along downtown New West. With a corner spot like theirs, you can enjoy people watching from your seat! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in New West.

They serve excellent coffee but there is a coven of witches that work there who decide who they are going to be friendly to and give the cold shoulder to those who dont hit the mark. There was a young guy who worked there who was great and friendly but the women didnt seem to want our business. Cold attitudes and unwillingness to be helpful. I feel bad for the young man who works there, if he still works there that is. They have lost our business which in these times can lead to a business closing. No wonder Starbucks leads the pack even though Waves actually makes better drinks.

Staff here is always friendly, with good service. However I do order from this location time to time, and I would recommend putting more stickers on the bags (for tamper-proofing). One of the drinks I received was half-empty and there's no way for me to tell if it was made that way, or if the driver had a nice bit of my coffee for breakfast. I don't think one sticker in the middle of the bag is enough because it's easy to pull things out the sides. Otherwise love this waves :)

Great location - really nice to be able to chill and watch the hustle-bustle on busy 6th St just outside the building. Coffee is solid, just as good as any other Waves location. Food leaves a bit to be desired but hey, I wouldn't expect gourmet cuisine from a chain coffee shop. Stick to the baked goods and pastries instead of the savoury food and you'll be good.

Probably my favourite waves location! It’s the closest to where I live and has great, friendly staff. I’ve always managed to find a place to sit and do some work even if it’s a little busy. I wish the hours were longer though but still a lot better compared to other locations that close at 5 or 6pm.
