Food was good, service was not. If you enjoy waiting 20 minutes at the cash to pay for your $180+ meal while the waitress and cook stand and talk to the customers that paid before you about sprinting and biking without even being acknowledged by them, it's the place to go. We stood behind these other customers and neither the cook or waitress said be with you in a minute or anything as they continued their conversation and knew we were waiting to pay. We had to ask if we could pay so we could leave.

Unexpected disappointment Reviews looked good , so we stopped in for breakfast today. Only 3 tables were in when we arrived . Very slow service, we were seated after a few minutes but waited 30 minutes when server waited on us . Food was another 25 minutes to come, and the coffees we ordered with breakfast came 10 minutes after our meal came. Breakfast skillet didn't come as described and my ham and poached egg cam as bacon and fried egg, Hollandaise was also chunky, and meal was pretty bland . No salt , pepper, ketchup spoon for coffee , was on the table, sever never came back the whole time to check on us for us ask for anything . One if the blue plates had some big nasty chips othe rim.. On a good note the Americano and latte was very good..

So, we are a real family traveling with kids. With that said, for dad's the breakfast menu will satisfy (we had a long drive back to the states, so I was happy not to nickle and dime for snacks on the drive back). For for my preteen and my toddler the menu was easy to order from and satisfy my picky kids. As for the queen of the trip, she was happy to find something great tasting (she especially enjoyed the dinner pasta menu as well). I was very happy with the staff and was able to thank the cooking staff for such a good meal. Great experience and would recommend and return in the future.

Visited Fundy and was excited to get coffee here. Went the first morning and the espresso machine was broken, showed up the second morning and the doors were locked with a closed sign on the door even though the hours state they should be open. Sad that I couldn’t try their coffee.

The service was slow, though that is to be expected when they are the only location in the area that provides breakfast. I ordered the Big Meaty Breakfast, eggs scrambled, with white toast. The order itself took longer than expected, and when received, was lukewarm at best. The eggs tasted bland, the toast was average, the potato was somehow lacking in flavor and also overly salty. The bacon was thick and salted appropriately, but slightly overcooked, and the sausages not over or undercooked.

Deporable, waited and hour and a half to eventually walk out, upon leaving we were forced to pay for food and was given a take out bag. We opened the bag and everything was cold and pure garbage,there is not enough space for me to comment on how terrible experence this was, and there was uncovered food everywhere. The food was delicious but the service was not good at all. The chicken pesto sandwich was super yummy coupled with an enormous bowl of soup. Our waitress didn't check on us once to see how our food was or refill our water and then she gave me flack because I couldn't finish all of my soup. Aparently, "That doesn't happen here." She didn't bring us our check so we waited for a while at the counter to settle up. The waitress didn't acknowledge if our payment had gone through or really interact with us. While the food was good I probably wouldn't go back.

The food and drinks were delicious! However, there were a few things that soured or visit somewhat. The restaurant was understaffed resulting in a very busy waitress, no refills of water or coffee, and longer wait times. A table that was seated after us were served firsts and finally our meals were served in chipped bowls. Despite all this I plan to return...the food and atmosphere are great.

Great new hidden gem. Superb, high quality food and of course the lobster is as fresh as it gets. The only reason I can't say 5/5 stars is due to the price. Was over $100 for two lobster pasta dishes for takeout. Quality ingredients obviously cost more, but it's a bit much. Kind of a tourist trap, but the food quality makes it worthwhile.

Nice niche seafood/pasta restaurant in Alma. Not kid friendly, but the dishes are excellent and perfect for the seafood lover as well as those who enjoy Italian dishes with the maritime slant. Great evening place on the back patio.

Please keep in mind a restaurants like this (ones who probably do most of their business during tourist season) during COVID times will be understaffed, but the wait isn’t too bad and it is worth the wait. Like any restaurant, you need to take bad reviews with a grain of salt because the most places are understaffed and their staff are working long hard hours. This is easily my favourite spot for food in Alma/Fundy area. First time I went for a burger after a long hike and it was exactly what we needed. Nothing too fancy, but also not underwhelming. I went with a few for supper a couple weeks ago and ordered pasta not thinking too much about it and it was incredible. The sauce was great, the handmade pasta was perfect, and the environment was good.

This place! This place! I'll travel to eastern Canada again JUST for this place! The owner and his wife are magnificently welcoming, even let me camp in their backyard as I was cycling through! I had a feast of seafood pasta for dinner, the best scallops I've ever had, EVER! I rolled out of town the next morning after a fantastic breakfast and pockets full of cinnamon rolls and other baked goodies. Make a trip specially to here!

The best restaurant we came across from Caraquet to Saint Andrews. We stopped by for lunch and did not realize what excellence we had in store for us. The vegan burrito bowl and lobster roll were so good, we had to come back for dinner. Their specialty is homemade pasta and we were not disappointed. The pasta was so delicate and flavourful. We may be back for round 3 tomorrow, their red Thai curry chowder is calling our names!!

It took almost 2 hours to get our breakfast to go. They were really busy and obviously understaffed. I saw people come in after us and get their food before us. After checking with them several times and kept being told we were on the list for the next one, we finally talked to someone else coming out of the kitchen and they had misplaced my order. While talking to them, another couple who had also been waiting complaint about the same and they had pushed back their order by mistake too. They rushed our breakfast but the toast looked like they cut the sliced bread in half as they were really thin. The fruit side salad looked like it was meant for a baby and the eggs, well they were cooked, I guess, that's a good thing.

This place is awesome. I've been camping around Canada for 3 weeks now and it's been hard to find a place to charge electronics and connect to WiFi. My girlfriend and I tried this place and ordered a pitcher of awesome ice tea and spent hours on end here. It has two WiFi networks and plenty of places to charge your phone or laptop. All not to mention some pretty great drink options. Overall I really appreciated the ability to loiter around while catching up on things.

Was attracted to this cosy restaurant on the way through town and decided it would be the place for dinner after we wandered the beach at low tide. This dining location seems to be popular among locals and travellers alike. We sat outside on the back balcony surrounded by foliage. There were plenty of seafood options, but because of allergies we went with pasta sans fruit de la mer. The mint lemonade is a winner.

Had the lobster risotto, cod, and lobster pasta and the duck. The food was absolutely amazing. For dessert we tried the key lime pie. Best ever. The staff was wonderful. Definitely recommend it and we'll eat there again.

Terrible... worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant in my life. There are 4 things I look for at a restaurant. Cleanliness, service, wait time, food. This place not only had zero of these qualities. Everything there was filthy the furniture was falling apart. It took an hour and a half to get food and no one came around to refill our drinks the entire time. When the food came out it was stone cold and looked inedible. For a small tourism town you'd think it would be easy to run a decent restaurant in the summer time but these folks are clearly out of their depth.

I spent several nights over three weeks in Alma, and every time I returned I looked forward to coming here. The staff are all lovely, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and it's a safe haven for celiac/gluten sensitive folks. Bonus: you'll notice something different on the walls every time you go. Great little stop along the way in Alma! We ordered a chicken pesto sandwiches and coffee (which were fantastically large with free refills)! The food was fresh, reasonably priced, and the server was friendly and quick. Sweet little atmosphere with indoor and outdoor eating options. Public washrooms and parking were very accessible. My friends and I went to this restaurant at 11am on Sunday, because according to Google that's when it opened. We had waited untill 11, We were starving. As we entered we were told they have stopped serving breakfast, apparently they opened at 8. They said they start serving lunch at 11.. but they had a big group of 20 people they had to deal with so they were too busy for us, even though we could see atleast 5 tables free on the patio. The inside of the restaurant looked great and it smelled amazing, just really disappointed we were rudely turned away.

Ask for specials that aren't on the menu as they are particularly great. Staff is very friendly and helpful as well. You can sit inside or outside. If you look for a place to dine in Alma, this is where you should go.

The most delicious food we have eaten in Alma. Their lobster tag is the most delicate and tasty way to eat fresh Fundy lobster. The scallop pasta, again on their in house made tag, was rich but light and full of flavour. A serious strawberry and rhubarb pie rounds the evening off perfectly.

We went here with a party of 10, the restaurant knew we were coming a few weeks in advance. They only had 1 server on. It took our table 30 mins just to get drinks and then another 40 to get our food. The kitchen ran out of hash browns, there was no one there to even talk to customers as they came in, at one point there was over 20 people waiting, many left after 15 mins of no one talking to them. When we finally did get the food, it was pretty good, and that’s why I’m giving this place a 2 star

The gender-neutral bathrooms and their exquisite sign (see attached). The hippie vibe. The high ceilings. The back patio. After over a week of mediocre dining, this place rocked our world. We were hoping to eat there every meal of every day we stayed in Alma. Strangely, however, locals didn't recommend it. I don't know if there is a turf war of sorts in town, but guys: go visit! Go visit. What are you waiting for?

Owner chatted amicably as we each ordered a beer, then he dropped the ball! We ordered the 2 'special' salads but 15 min later he comes back to say they're out of salad. We quickly order a sandwich each. Another 20 min and he apologizes & offers a small soup while we wait. 10 more min and we get 2 white plates with 2 small white sandwiches...no salad, garnish, or even potato chips! Wish I'd taken a picture., but we were hungry and in a hurry. A little bowl of soup arrived after we stood up to leave. Saw other plates coming out with garnishes & mounds of chips!! I've only been here once but I'm in love. We were really graciously accepted as dinner patrons, even near closing time, which was a relief after a long day of driving! I ordered the spicy pasta (VERY SPICY) and it was so delicious and bursting with flavour. Extreme bonus points for having delicious handmade pasta! My partner had the fish of the day which was trout, and said it was the absolute best saltwater trout he has ever eaten. And he's a man who knows good fish. It was a really nice feeling when the chef actually came into the dining room to make sure everyone was enjoying their food! Really reasonable pricing for the quality of meal! Very impressed and wishing I could come back for more!

My wife and I loved the Octopus's Garden and Cafe. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was amazingly good (pan seared rainbow trout, Thai seafood dish and carrot cake). If I had to point out anything on the downside it might be that the seating/tables could use an upgrade, but that's being picky. An absolute must stop spot to eat when we're in the area.

My family hails from the east coast, but I personally grew up in southern Ontario. We visited Octopuses Garden on a whim after a recommendation from the chef at our Hotel in Moncton, and it was definitely worth the drive, considering we were visiting the Hopewell Rocks that same day. The drive was quite long, but this restaurant (which is only open fri-sat through the off season) is some of the most delicious food I have ever had. Fresh hand rolled pasta fettuccine, deliciously flavourful sauces and a wonderful waitress who once lived in Toronto and moved her life out here. Beautiful clean restaurant with local art plastered all over the walls, amazing food, and wonderful intimate and interactive service. I loved my visit here, I am so happy that we happened to come on a day the restaurant is open, despite our lack of planning.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner on our first night in Alma. It's a little different than what we were used to having spent most of our travels in larger cities. The service is friendly, but they tend to focus on one or two tables at a time which can make them seen aloof. The atmosphere is very relaxed, but it's what I would call "old style dining"in that the location clearly used to be a house, and the open concept style leads one to feel almost as though you are paying for a meal in someone's home. The food was excellent but not cheap. Two entrees and two adult beverages came out to $76. If you're willing to spend the money, aren't in a rush and want some yummy food, I highly recommend it.

We tried this restaurant because it was dog friendly and we not disappointed. Eventhough they had misplaced our reservation (required if you want to bring a dog) they were able to seat us on the patio (only place dogs are allowed). The place was quite busy for a Thursday evening and the food did take a little while. But it was well worth the wait. My wife had the garlic alfredo and my pup and I enjoyed the rainbow trout. Everything was outstanding. The service was somewhat slower than I would have liked but again they were very busy. I wouldn't hesitate to return if I'm ever in Alma again. The 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

I had a good lunch there today; went back in the evening to buy some local packaged pate. Our waitress from earlier scowled at us, told us they were busy; and, it would be a twenty minute wait. She was extremely rude. Maybe not used to seeing the same customers twice in a day, maybe didn't like the 15% tip, maybe the restaurant closes after labor Day; I don't know but that was really discourteous behavior. Great restaurant in tiny Alma. This is a cafe and bistro all in one. The chef is very creative with dishes and really knows his craft. I loved the variety of different vegetables in the fish offerings. I had cod and it was cooked just right. We also had some of the hand made pasta; also delicious. Outdoor seating is pleasant and casual. Indoor in adorned with local artwork. Good coffee and baked goods as well. I think it’s the best restaurant in Alma and certainly the best place if you need a break from the seafood places. Only concern was side salad was on the small side and came with a roll larger than the salad.

This is a must go to restaurant ! A great place to relax and enjoy a meal or a snack. The two young ladies running the front were outgoing,very helpful, and charming. Lunch was prepared fresh and arrived hot as it should. You can sit on the front porch, the foyer, a large dining room, an enjoyable deck beside the creek, or a more relaxed and semi private upstairs with sofas and cozy chairs. I am definitely coming back! FYI, a lady down the road made a lime cake that was to die for- not light enough to be a regular cake and not heavy enough to be a pound cake, finished with a simply amazing topping you'd only expect from a 3 star Michelin establishment. The taste enraptured the buds and left you thinking of it the rest of the day.

We are always impressed when we go here( every two years when we are in town) . The staff is very welcoming & accomadating. Glutenfree - not a problem. GF Pasta, soooo good. Sauce was to die for. Fresh & so much seafood. Thanks for having our service dog.

Wow. What a fantastic place to stop for a bite to eat. The service is always friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. I travel to Alma weekly for work and will be planning my trips based on the days this place is open. The vegan salad bowl is easily one of the best things I have ever eaten. 12/10 if you're in the area do yourself a favor and check this place out!!

Bad and rude service, I went in to order a caffeinated drink for the road a got ignored by a cranky waitress that can't seem to handle her career choice. Capitalism is the best, I left and went to their competition to spend more and I gave them a good tip on top of that! At the end of the day people notice bad service and they go where they feel appreciated! I will never set foot in an Octopus Garden ever again...
