Serious Coffee, downtown Nanaimo, has been a favorite for a long time - Always friendly staff and a clean atmosphere. I tend to be on the go a lot and I can always count on a quality beverage, snack, and a place to recharge myself (and my devices) to continue on to the next meeting, gig or just homeward bound. Not far from the harbourfront and surrounded by Nanaimo's shops and stores, they're right where you need 'em. They have something for everyone and, even with the new staff, ALWAYS a friendly face! Until that changes, they're a fav!

In my time while living on Vancouver Island, one thing I had been craving for a very long time was a fudgy brownie. I'm talking about a brownie that is actually chewy. One that is rich and moist inside, one that is an absolute experience to eat. I almost gave up on my hopes of ever finding one. All roads seemed to have led to disappointment. But no more. The brownie I had at this place was BY FAR the best brownie I have ever had in a long time, without exaggeration, and it has reignited my hope in the existence of good, chewy, and fudgy brownies. I left this cafe satisfied with my brownie, and the only regret is that I didn't pick up extras before I left Nanaimo to go back to Victoria.

Serious coffee and slower sandwiches. Out of the three times I have been here, I have left with a good experience. Their menu has a good selection and I haven't gotten anything of poor quality yet. Only complaint I have is their food from order to serve time is a little long. I ordered a pre-made sandwich in the by till container and ask for it warmed and that process took 5 minutes. Beyond the small delays this is a solid place in my eyes. Staff are also pretty friendly!

Nice atmosphere food is good, However 9 times out of 10 the food is Ice cold in the center even despite me asking for extra toasted every time I. Today they forgot my order entirely....not Impressed. MY advice to a manager who may read this Try your panini toast it eat and see how Fricken cold it is, there is no excuse for Ice cold food ALL THE TIME. If you are Making 2 paninies take the time to microwave them Separately so they can actually heat. In all honesty I like the place and food, but you guys are making it hard for me to want to continue to support your business.

Most of the time when I go there it is an amazing experience and I have wonderful service by the staff. Today however was not so great, I went there with a friend and got a latte and the girl who took my order didn't even bother to smile or even attempt to act nice. She kept on clashing all of the utensils around while she was making my latte and when she served it to me she practically slammed it down in front of me, some of the latte even spilled out and she just walked away really quickly. I'll still always come here, I'll just make sure I have a different server.

Serious coffee is a great spot for the coffee breakers. Beyond a good cup of joe, or americano, their baked goods are tasty and reasonably priced. I have a particular weakness for their oat bars and rarely manage to leave without ordering one. Their soup and sandwiches also make a nice, if decadent, lunch. Most of the baristas at this location are helpful and speedy. My favourite chain in Nanaimo!

Serious Coffee is a fantastic coffee spot in Nanaimo. First off, the service from the staff is amazing. They really take care of you and make the ordering process easy! Their menu has a couple of fun items such as Nanaimo Bar Latte and a couple of other “favourite items”. I got a regular iced latte and it was delightful. The coffee was roasted beautifully and it had a dark chocolatey taste!

This is a pretty nice coffee shop in the heart of downtown Nanaimo. It's close to all the shops, restaurants, and the Art Gallery, and it's a great place to cool off, hang out, and have a coffee and a snack. The staff are helpful and friendly and the drinks are tasty and generous. My only wish is for the decor to be a little less...1990s, but there's no arguing about taste. :) I strongly recommend Serious Coffee for anyone looking have a quick sip, a casual date, or just a place to hang out.

Very nice specialty Coffee Shop in Nanaimo. Located on Commercial Street the heart of the city. The food is good, and the owner still makes homemade Nanaimo Bars for dessert. With a fantastic atmosphere where you can enjoy a cup of java, get some work done via free internet, or enjoy a quiet conversation over a great choice and reasonably priced lunch with a friend. There's spacious sitting inside,. in the adjacent Museum, or on the street patio outside.

Good place on Commercial street, downtown Nanaimo to chillax and have coffee and snacks. Nice customer service with fairly good menu. Prices are little expensive side compared to Tim Horton's. This store is adjacent to museum so pass one door to get into it. During Summers this place will be busy with lot of tourists. There are pay parking slots on streets but there is underground private parking slots free for its customers but very few slots alloted and one has to be lucky to get it. Hence not worth to drive all the way down and come back without parking.

The girls are always so friendly and quick to remember orders. My boyfriend and I are regulars there, and they know us - and even his dog - by name and check if they can provide a treat for him. Today they went above and beyond for a coffee order for my work group. Marin (sorry I’m awful with names and y’all are so good!) walked replacement drinks over to us a few blocks away when they realized that the espresso machine was acting up. Ok total Canadian thing.... but if you love an amazing Nanaimo bar OR if you have no idea what I am talking about, Serious Coffee is the place to go!! Yes they have won awards for their NANAIMO BAS AND RIGHTLY SO!! These delectable treats have a layer of chocolatey, coconut, walnut, graham cracker magical base, with a sweet creamy middle layer of yellow custard topped with a layer of chocolate. The key to these beauties is the ratio of each layer which Serious Coffee takes serious! They hold their form with every bite, and the custard is never grainy ( important detail) and the crumbly base layer never crumbles apart(another important detail) I've filled my face with MANY Nanaimo bars over the years and I mean MANY! In fact I actual will seek them out to find the best ones because nothing is worse than eating one that doesn't live up to expectations. So when we came across these it was like I had won the lottery!! They are pretty close to perfect IMO and if you love these like I do or have never had one Serious Coffee is the place to go!! Not sure about their coffee or other treats because I go there for the Nanaimo bars and have never had anything else! It's a good thing I don't live in Nanaimo, cause knowing how good they are I would be eating them everyday. It's a stop I make no matter what when ever I am on the Island! The BEST Nanaimo bars by far! And they have the hardware to back it up. Worth the price .....you won't regret it.

Coffee shop also offers some food for takeout and is good for people on a go or if you happy to have no time to enjoy you cup of coffee while staying inside. I like the layout of the shop and it's got a great variety of sweet and savoury foods like breakfast bagels and muffins and scones. I tried a mocha latte and a breakfast cheese and jalapeno ham and egg bagel, delicious The next day I tried an iced chai latte and it was perfect. The staff is very sweet and they bring out your hot food to you when you sit down after ordering. Would definitely come back.
