A truly hidden gem. Such a cozy lovely coffee house, staff is great. A nice refreshing stop when walking the Nanaimo waterfront promenade. Espresso was sooo good, sweets and pastries looked deliciousss. Cant wait to go back again, enjoy a breakfast there and the beautiful view of the water, just amazing!! The people that go there are just so nice and sweet. You might meet Rory there, he is always there with his newspaper so sweet, he looks like Santa, super friendly and likes to chat.. met him randomly there, had a video of him and realized after that I didnt save it and so actually lost the video of this warm genuine old man

Javawocky offers the best Flat White's in town, and I don't even order Flat White's that often. There is both sit down seating inside and outside, as well as a taller bar inside looking over the harbor where one could work or read the newspaper.

Great coffee (hint: if you like your americanoes strong, as I do, make sure to say “tons of room’!) Muffins are totally yum. Delish bunch of items otherwise if you’re feeling a little more lunchy. Comfy indoor and outdoor seating with a view of the ocean. Free wifi. Love it.

I enjoyed having a coffee and snack here after visiting Newcastle Island. The tables all face in different directions, so no one is sitting directly behind you or to the side when you are seated. The drinks are good and there is an excellent choice.

Absolutely the best breakfast bagel sandwich I've ever had. So, had to order another bagel toasted with butter just to confirm....it's the bagel. I've tried them all over north America, this is the best I've had. And the coffee was outstanding. My wife isn't as much a coffee drinker as I am, and she mentioned first how good it was. My Americano was five star. Next time in Nanaimo, I know where I'm having breakfast.

Very neat little place. They have a cheese scone that is absolutely amazing. The pastries and baked goods were said to be made in house. They have a Shanghai-Fog which is the green-tea variant of the london fog which is smooth and tasty. You get a nice view of the water and nothing is better on a dreary, rainy day than to relax with a warm cup and scone.

They were able to make me a Nanaimo bar frappechino with no coffee and it was amazing! Great ambience and a view right outside. Clever name too. The girls who helped me with my custom drink when I was there in August were super friendly and accommodating. The door access is on Harbourfront Walkway rather than Front Street.

My wife and I often wake up early on our days off and come here to order their coffee and sit outside at one of their tables to people watch and smell the fresh ocean air. Nice place to see the day kick off and it's very central to the rest of the city. Downside is that parking (unless Sunday) isn't free. But an hour is relatively cheap.

This local coffee shop has an excellent outside patio in the summer months, and limited seating inside. The breakfast sandwiches which they sell, are very large and tasty, you'll definitely need two hands for them! Personally I like getting a coffee here and strolling down the waterfront. I would recommend this place to both locals and tourists. Be warned though, it can get busy at times as there is limited staff.

Really not a coffee shop. It's a counter to serve the port. The coffee is made by a restaurant grade machine not an actual barista. Watery latte. Think of it as a bus station convenient counter.

One thing I really appreciate is they take the time to get to know you and to make you feel comfortable. Going there is always a treat.

We sat outside and it was very pleasant to watch the boats in the harbour and enjoy the views in the bay on a warm summer morning. The staff were friendly and helpful and the prices were reasonable.

Worst coffee I have ever had. It's a coffee shop it should have palatable coffee, not coffee that you take a sip of, go outside, consider launching it into the harbour but then remember that you wouldn't wish the taste of this coffee on any aquatic animal. However it had the best nanimo bar I have ever had.

A favourite coffee hangout in the early morning. Open year-round with outdoor seating in the summer (and winter if you're hardy). Great cappuccino and chai-latte. Both go excellent with their Nanaimo bars which sadly sell out fast. They have a variety of daily soups and sandwiches, but I've only ever stopped for coffee and a treat. Right on the waterfront walk, ample parkade parking right behind except for warm summer long weekends. Occasionally, (when in season) you can buy fresh salmon, tuna, and prawns right off the commercial fishing boats. Have been here often and will return often.

It's an okay place to grab a cup of coffee if you don't particularly have any expectations. You may prefer to get it to go, because their customer service is mediocre at best. Apparently asking for capuccino in a cup is a huge incovneince for a patron who didn't ask for it to go. The barista proceeded to dump my drink from a paper cup in a mug, and then gave me a huge mug to pour my espresso (with coffee grounds). When I asked for a small espresso Cup she made a look like I had asked her for her grandmother's wedding ring. The justification that the store is open for another 40 minutes served as the reasoning for her unfriendly attitude and annoyance at being asked for the regular niceities at a coffee shop.
