This was my second visit to Drip Coffee. The staff they had working seemed "too cool" to serve me and made it feel as if I was bothering them. Felt very stand-off ish. Then to ask directly for a 15% minimum tip seemed intimidating. The 8oz drink (very small) was priced at 4.50$. I sat at the window only to leave cause the noise of the place was very overpowering. The mocha was less than average quality for the price unfortunately. I had high hopes for the lovely place by the water. 2 stars for the view.

I was recommended that I stop here for a coffee on my way to the ferry. As we had some time to kill, the recommendation came from my good friend and colleague Greg. We stopped and had to drip coffee‘s, given the name, we thought that was the correct choice to make from the menu. Then went down to the beach and took in the view of the crows in the water while enjoying our drip coffee’s from drip coffee. Good service nice location five stars.

I’m from central Alberta, I work for Square 1 Coffee in Edmonton it was my first time stopping in. There was a line up when I walked in this afternoon which, to me, indicates it’s a fantastic place as I read their menu I let a lady in front of me who they greeted by first name which I absolutely love, I got an Americano in my yeti and had to get back in line as I felt the need to also try their cold brew which they gave to me on the house! I am so thankful I stopped in...fantastic ppl, amazing coffee, wonderful atmosphere and great location thank you so much for the cold brew!!! If ever I am back on the island I will be stopping again CHEERS ~Bailee~

The shop is tiny and the chairs are a very tight fit for anyone bigger than a size ten. The pastry selection is very small and the gluten free selection is tiny and over priced The service was fine and my lemon bar was fresh and tasty but the shortbread crust can't be cut with a fork. We each had Americanos and they were terrible. The water wasn't hot enough and the shots were timed wrong making terrible weak drinks. We probably won't return.

Right on the coast we found this neat coffee shop where we stopped by for lunch. Service is pretty awesome as one of the owners themselves was the one serving the dishes and continually checking up on the customers. The employees in general are very welcoming. Food wise this is a pretty decent spot for lunch, serving several options of sandwiches that are nicely toasted including a vegetarian option, and pastries of different kinds including a vegan option. They serve a variety of coffees and beverages including alcohol if you want to enjoy a sip of wine while you look out at the beautiful scenery. Pricing is as expected - as a Vancouverite I've eaten at cafes and sandwich shops much more expensive than here. To top it off, they have delicious affogato. Can't go wrong with that.

I’ve been looking forward to trying this shop out for a while and they did not disappoint! A true gem in their neighbourhood. I was enjoying their breakfast sandwich so much I almost didn’t notice how amazing the espresso was! This breaky Sammy is definitely one you could go for 4 times a week and still love it. Good call on the drumroaster and expertly brewed I loved my Americanism too. Congrats guys, keep up the good work!

I LOVE their caramel macchiato and the fact that their staff are really friendly. Plus de view too. But I dislike/hate that they put 'gluten free' on their turkey sandwich when it's obviously not (they can't even make it gluten free with the buns). I just think that it's not safe for coeliac or gluten allergies.

I had a very mediocre black English Breakfast tea, but the service was excellent and friendly. The cafe is doing a very good job of handling a restaurant during coronavirus pandemic, but it does mean that the food items are limited. All orders are taken at the outside order counter and there is seating inside and on the patio. I was disappointed that I couldn't use cash. I've had their coffee in the past and not been disappointed. A good spot to grab a coffee or other drink and either sit inside out of the weather or enjoy the sunshine outside on their patio or on the opposite side of the street at Departure Bay Beach.

After hearing about this coffee shop we finally made it for a meal and coffee. First off the location is amazing with floor to ceiling windows taking in the view of Departure Bay and the Salish Sea. We had coffee with our meal, for that part it was good and to be expected from a coffee shop. We had the beet and all good salads which I believe are made off site, they were great. It was a Friday night when we arrived so it was super busy, makes senses with the fact they serve local craft beer on tap. This was evident with the trendy 20-something crowd on the patio. That being said they serve wine also so inside was a couple of groups of older clientele. The Drip brings in a diverse customer base clearly. The atmosphere was inviting and the customer service was promptly, polite and very friendly. As I joked with my wife though, she was happy and we appreciate that they use Young Living Thieves hand soap (my wife is a huge fan).

We like good coffee but we ENJOY great coffee! My partner and I walk a lot! We do a 30km walk once a month and “Drip” is one big motivational factor to get us to lace up the walking shoes. It’s conveniently at km# 15 of our loop. If you know the difference between “good” coffee and great coffee, then this is the place So... GREAT Cappuccinos Fast, friendly service, Reasonable prices Gluten Free treats Liquor license, beer and wine Outdoor, patio seating Bright, modern decor Ultra clean washrooms Great View of Departure Bay Public beach across the street This list could be much longer, but you get my point. Parking appears to be limited, we mostly walk here, but it has never been a problem the odd time that we stop on our drive back from somewhere else.

Nice enough place, but the coffee was so acidic I could've skipped the dental cleaning I had done two days ago (adding cream didn't help, so I poured the last two thirds of the cup into the shrubbery beside our table) and I get hit up for a minimum 15% tip at the till even though I'm serving myself, which is something that almost always ensures I won't be back. Hey, but everybody else raves about the place and it was busy, so don't just go by me.

The location is great as we definitely needed a coffee bar down by Departure Bay Beach, my only complaint would be the prices. My nephew wanted a milk shake and it cost $8.66 That is way to expensive for a milk shake. It tasted good, but way to expensive. It is definitely enough to make me question going there again.

They are doing some good things with their food offerings, which are constantly improving, and they boast many local suppliers. You don't have to feel guilty spending your hard earned dollars here, they go right back into the community. This place does it right!

I love this café to bits! Not only is Drip a beautiful spot to stop, get a coffee, and watch the waves in Departure bay, but the food is always great (my favourites are the roast beef sandwich, the turkey sandwich, and the avocado toast) the coffee satisfying, and the staff cheerful, friendly, and kind in the extreme. I very much appreciate the fact that the owners and staff adhere very strictly to pandemic protocols and keep the place clean. Come early if you want to snag a socially-distanced seat (parking gets a bit tough towards midday, but there's always some near the waterfront or on some of the side streets). If you're not one of the lucky ones, the takeout window is your friend. Whether to grab a coffee on a date, or just to sit down with a good book, I strongly recommend Drip to one and all!

I loved this spot! Just what Nanaino needs is a trendy relaxed spot to grab a coffee or a drink. The style of the shop was modern and industrial. Staff was lovely and even helped me move my things when a more comfortable spot opened up. My only feed back would be I felt very unwelcomed when the owner came in and changed the internet password to encourage me to leave when it got busy. I was so disheartened after I had just posted on my Facebook page how much I enjoyed your location. As he did rounds I felt him wanting me to leave. Everyone found a spot it was busy but no need for me to leave. Make everyone feel comfortable even those campers. I buy LOTS of coffee and LOTS of drinks since becoming a student. I also tip your baristas who again were amazing and informed. I also gave you a shout out on my social media with over a 1000 friends on it. 50 likes and lots of comments in 1 day. I was so tempted to retract my statement if it wasn't for the rest of my experience. I am still keeping my 5 stars because well that's my opinion and I think everyone should still try it!

A welcome contemporary addition to Nanaimo. Easily the best coffee location in Nanaimo — at Departure Bay. The sunrises can be spectacular. Patio out front. They serve Drumroaster Coffee, light food items including sandwiches and some baked goods (vegan as well.) Owners and staff are friendly and accommodating. It's my favourite spot.

My cortado arrived quickly, but the texture was off- it was frothy instead of smooth. I think the shot was pulled too long because it also had a very bitter aftertaste. I might try this place again because of the ambiance, but it's clear to me that more consistent barista training is needed.

Edit: I just wanted to update that I came back a few weeks ago and the coffee this time around was much improved. I've adjusted my review to reflect this :) Beautiful location & nice space. Staff were nice, and espresso was very tasty. Unfortunately what's keeping me from giving 5 stars is the sub par milk texture in my latte. It was very bubbley and thin. I think in order to compete with coffee shops like Regard the baristas here need a bit more training and practice. Thankfully the coffee itself was delicious, extracted perfectly and redeemed the latte as a whole. I would be willing to give this place another try.

LOVED Drip. Very close to the Nanaimo Ferry terminal making it easy to get too. I stopped there for an early brunch and had the Avocado toast topped with feta and a balsamic vinaigrette drizzle, and a London Fog with oat milk. Anyone who knows me, knows I am a PICKY with my oat milk London Fogs (they need quality tea and a decent smooth oat milk), and the one I had at Drip made it in the top two favourite places! The avocado toast had excellent flavour; the toast, which was more of a thin round loaf slice, was perfectly crisp and paired well with all of the flavours. It is very rich with the cheese and vinaigrette, so make sure if you have a sensitive stomach to not eat it after, let’s say, a rocky ferry ride prior to eating (my mistake.. lesson learned). Definitely add a stop at Drip Coffee on any of your day trip, road trip or coffee houses to visit lists!

This must be the coffee shop with the most beautiful location in Nanaimo. Grab a perfectly made coffee or tea and go across the street and stroll down the beach. Alternatively, grab one of the fresh sandwiches and enjoy the view from inside. I noticed they do beer and wine as well, but I haven't yet had the chance to try that out. I can't wait to visit again, especially on days with nice sun, as it looks like there's a patio too in front.

Went once. Ended up leaving without a coffee. Spent more time standing at the front of the order line than it typically takes to grab a cup and be on my way at a normal coffee shop. Got shushed and ignored by two staff - a pretty blond gal and some hipster with a waxed moustache - both of whom seemed preoccupied with something other than taking orders or making coffees. When I finally decided to cut my losses and get a coffee somewhere else, they both tried to talk me into hanging around just a bit longer and they'd be with me in just a minute. Nearest I could come to a polite response was 'no thanks, not interested. I'll never come here again'. And I won't. As to the rebuttal below, there is very little in it with which I agree. Most notably the time frame. I'm not even sure the asphalt outside the place is available for parking. Could be mistaken on that point though. I went when they were busy and they handled it poorly. I'm sure plenty of people have a much better experience, but this was mine.

Hello everybody. I just wanted to leave a note and say how wonderful DRIP coffee really is. I felt like a celebrity this morning. After calling in my order on my way to work to save a few valuable minutes, I arrived to a perfectly timed, almost complete order. The staff were friendly, welcoming and the ambiance was as warm as it could be on a rainy day. To top it off, the coffee tastes soooooo delicious. Went here for the first time on Friday, March 26th. You order at an outside window and pick up at another window. I had a small salted caramel latte and a cheddar chive scone. Total cost was $9.20. Scone was absolutely delicious! Nice and moist, not dry and crumbly. Latte was pretty decent too. Service was fast. Definitely worth going back. View is awesome of Departure Beach.

Their seasonal smores latte was sooo good! I did half syrup plus whipped cream and it was amazing. Forget the pumpkin spice latte, try this instead. You won't regret it! The only thing I didn't like was the sandwich bread. They used sour dough, so after toasting it, it was extra hard and tough to bite into.
