Right now this firm gets a score of 4.1 out of 5 and this rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can see its rating is quite positive, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we may say that the assessment is very accurate. If people have bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to set scores when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of Restaurant.
The best calamari hands down in Nova Scotia. And nothing beats sitting right on the Lunenburg waterfront.
If you love seafood and shellfish, you'll love dining here! Lots of local goodies on the menu and a fantastic view out over Lunenburg Harbour too.
Good lobster. Otherwise just ok.
I would definitely eat here again! It's a busy place, and right on the waterfront so reservations are a good idea. If the weather is suitable, try for the patio. The scallops were nicely cooked, not overdone like in many places, and all the seafood was fresh. Since it's in a busy and touristy part of town, be aware of taking some extra time for parking. They do have a $6.00 pay lot right beside the restaurant which we went to because the onstreet parking aside from that is very limited.
Service was great food was poor and way overpriced
We tried three different restaurants during our stay here and this one was definitely the best value. We got the crab poboy and the lobster roll, both delicious with lots of seafood. Also the location is great, patio right on the boardwalk.
Food DELICIOUS... staff very friendly... awesome location right off wharf... will definately go back (not until next year... family was on vacation at relatives house... from Ontario)
It was a good place to have a bite to eat. The prices are reasonable for a tourist location, service was good and the view was excellent. I would go back.
Good food, nice views and great service from our server, Karlee B!
Food and service just wow.
Excellent food and drinks, but crowded.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, we waited 45 minutes for the food to arrived. When it finally came to the table, it was cold. The chowder has no flavour and the tacos had more coleslaw than fish. The highlight of the meal was chips part of the fish and chips.
Food and service great as usual. We had steamed lobster, seafood medely and lobster tacos and all dishes were very good, would certainly recommend to anyone. Maybe a bit pricey but worth it.
Great food. Had the fresh haddock fish and it was amazing. The staff are so friendly and I'm now a member of the Rum club. Name is on the wall and I got the t-shirt.
Great food, beautiful view
Came highly recommended. Service was friendly and most of what was served was good but when a $70.00 steamed lobster came out as chewy as rubber because it was over cooked that wrecked everything else. The clientele is transient tourists that will come no matter what so no incentive to satisfy.
Food ok Very slow Service
Nice view. Food prices are a little on the high side but the quality is great.
Mint!
Great food and exceptional staff
The food and the view are both fantastic.
We ate here July 16 for dinner outside on the dock. I enjoyed the pan fried scallops caught locally and my wife had a hot lobster roll. Good food, nice atmosphere, and the server was very good. Price was reasonable, too. Highly recommended.
The fish and chips were very good. You definitely don't need two pieces, and I'm a big guy. Very cool spot with a great view of the sea.
Amazing food and atmosphere! I had a seafood medley and the lobster chunks were huge!
Great views, friendly staff, excellent food.
Must have their spicy chicken sandwich and hushpuppies, just amazing. Amd after lunch check out the museum, well worth it.
Bayside in Lunenburg! Great for kids, families or a date. Wander the museum, then grab some yummy food and a local beer!
Loved it! Great food and great service!
Good scallops, haddock and oysters. Great drinks! Friendly staff. The lobster tacos were nothing special, wouldn’t suggest the fried dishes either.
Terrific staff.
We both had pan seared scallops which were delicious! I was glad to have sauteed veggies as an option rather than fries.
They were very busy and we still got great service and food! Second time to visit, we drove up from Halifax. Both times had great staff, food was delicious and that lovely Lunenburg view!
Great Food!
Incredible food and amazing views.
the highlight of my dining experience in nova scotia. the food i had was absolutely amazing and the restaurant had such a cool ambiance.
Great food and great service my go to place when I visit
It has been 42 years since I've been back in Lunenburg, and eating at The Old Fish Factory Restaurant with great friends was delightful. I'm not a fish lover, but the pan-fried haddock we had was superb!! And so was our dessert! Thank you for a lovely time!!
The beer and view are good. Food is horrible and expensive.
Food was good. I found the service extremely slow. Hard to even get a beverage refill
We tried the pan fried fish with shrimp, it was great . The service was fast and good. I did not try anywhere else in this city so , I can not compare , by the way I think the quality is good for the money you pay.
Service was extremely slow.
My very first time at this restaurant. The food was amazing the waitress was very helpful and amazing.
Really good fish and chips
The most disgusting fish and chip I have ever had. Fryer war not enough not, so I got 2 sponges full of oil ... Also, restaurant full of mosquitos and it takes an eternity to get our food. Very disappointing when you are traveling with kids...
The view was great. However the lobster roll bun was too big and dry.
Beautiful food
Food was just okay, but not too expensive. A good place for a family meal.
This place is great. Even on a rainy day.
We went to this restaurant last summer following Taste of Nova Scotia's seafood trail and loved the chowder. We couldn't remember why so we went again this year. The chowder is packed with seafood more than any other restaurant in Nova Scotia. Hands down the best. Milky broth, not loaded with flour. Just perfect. It was so much, I couldn't even finish it all. We will be making this one of our regular stops when in Lunenburg.
Good seafood with nice views of the waterfront!
There's no denying the prime location of this restaurant, especially the patio which is situated directly on the wharf. In the end that's what your coming for. The food is good, but often feels a little over priced. The staff is nice and although food can take a while, they tell you up front if the kitchen is having difficulty meeting demand. If you are having a quick visit, the Old Fish Factory hits all the right notes with its menu and view, but it's also keenly aware it has what a tourist is looking for.
Great fish chowder to be had here. The waterfront view is amazing. Didn't have time to go to the museum unfortunately.
Wemt here for lunch while touring the Lunemburg Disheries Museum. The seadood was deliciius and you got more than enough to satisfy your hunger. It was large, spacious, amd the staff were curtious. Food came out in good time. Great place for lumch as the prices are reasonable.
Called in to the Ice Bar for a drink . Great views , friendly barman & serving staff . Good selection of beers & spirits , including 52 rums . Unfortunately the rum festival doesn't begin until July .
Awesome restaurant to go!
Nice little place . Good ambience . Good food
Friendly waiter with good local tips and bacon wrapped scallops were tasty. However, the oysters were disappointing. They were servered on ice cubes (not crushed ice) which cause most of the to lose their liquor. Furthermore, it did not appear that the shucker was very experienced as all had been manged with the knife and had bits of shell in them.
Do yourself a faviur and get the lobster trio!! Beatiful restaurant along the harbour and its dog friendly!
Great food, always amazing flavorful dishes.
Great food and service
Told them it was a Birthday group with a child and handicapped person. We waited for 45 minutes for our food and then were told it'll be another 10 minutes after I asked them to check. I'd already asked them to check at the 25 minutes mark. Not one refill on the drinks. The restaurant wasn't full inside and it was after 2pm, so not during the lunch rush. This is unacceptable and I've worked at restaurants and run my own business. You offer to pick up the appetizer or drinks or do something to keep the customer but nada. No customer service imo. I'd go somewhere else if I were you. There are much better places within seconds.
Really great service, friendly and helpful and tasty food. Lobster was great.
Very good,
Nice staff, food and location.
Lobster tacos and kettle chips were positively delicious. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the water. The patio is also dog friendly.
Excellent venue for dinner. Prices were reasonable service was good.
Fabulous fish cakes and great local beers.
The food and service were excellent! We had the haddock stuffed with crab and lobster cream cheese and it was delicious.
Excellent food, friendly and helpful staff.
A quiet place for dinner or drinks, the prices are reasonable and the bartenders, friendly.
Good food nice waitress but the hostess told us my friend's seeing eye dog had to sit outside the patio on the other side of the glass (advised of working dog when making reservations). When we explained the dog was working and in harness they said," no dogs on the patio". So a third try: federal legislation requires that you MUST allow this person and the dog entry... They ( 3 of them) had to go check... Please train ALL your staff. It made us and the people behind us uncomfortable and tainted what should have a lovely dinner with guests.
Food was delicious and it arrived pretty fast.
Great food and service, waitress very friendly
Excellent lobster roll and friendly staff!
I visit here once a year when I come to see my parents. It has become a tradition to sit outside on the patio looking out onto passing sailboats! The food is always tasty and the service is always great.
Loved the food. Very nice staff. Live band was a lot of fun. Nova Scotian people are wonderful.
Mediocre food at a ridiculously high price. 16.99 for a wrap at lunch.
Good food and great service from our waitress Sydney.
Great sea food, nice servers, very good place. The bill was high, but I left happy anyway.
The was very friendly and professional , the food was very good .
I'd eat this daily if I could!
The food was devine, impeccable service, friendly attentive staff, and the lobster was the best. Wonderful view of the harbor.
#silverbulletbbq rates this restaurant as a five star. Best Salmon we have ever tasted. Wow!!! Awesome Food and Service.
Great view, Great service, Outstanding food.
Amazing food with great service. Started off with a creamy soup, followed by a perfectly grilled halibut fillet and some exquisite chocolate cake with ice cream. Definitely worth checking out.
I have the Fish and Chips tonight and it was terrible -- only a handful of fries and the fish was over cooked and had an odd taste. Not what you expect for $17.
It was busy we were told it would be a wait, we didn't mind, we had a drink and then enjoyed the wonderful meal.
Scallops were excellent, as was the service.
This restaurant is in a great location, right on the water. Our server was very friendly. The food was great for the most part, especially the crab cakes, but the lobster roll and the clam dip were bland.
Food is just ok
Had the appetizers they were pretty good, a bit pricey for their portion sizes
The guacamole from a jar and frozen lobster was probably the worst restaurant food I've ever had! However the happy hour mussels and oysters were very good and good values as well.
Great food at the Lunenburg waterfront. I love the seafood chowder. The brothy style maritime chowder is so much better than the Boston or new england type that's found everywhere else. Maybe I like seeing the seafood that I'm eating instead of mushed together.
Great food and friendly staff, with a perfect view of Lunenburg harbour.
(Translated) Awesome foid (Original) Awesome foid
The food and service are good. Our waiter was very pleasant and helpful.
The food was delicious. The stuffed haddock had an incredible flavor and you could taste the crab and lobster but it did not over power the taste of the haddock. The fish and chips was light and fluffy with a nice crunch on the outside the view on the patio was a calm quite ocean night with wonderful lighting.
Great meal (lobster tacos) right by the boardwalk overlooking the bay.
Great food!
Great service and the best salmon in NS!
Great afternoon with fantastic food. Very good portions and really reasonably priced. The staff was very welcoming and very efficient. A return is not even a question.
Best fish n chips I’ve had in years! Thier tar tar sauce is a 10 as are thier kettle chips! Service was excellent! We’ll be back!
(Translated) I loved the place and their lobster (Original) Me encantó el lugar y su langosta
I went with a group and I'm not a seafood eater vlbut the chicken I'm mushrooms was awesome. The veggies and garlic mash was excellent. Even though we were a party of 15 the food was hot and it was done quick. Great for a party or a quiet date night.
Excellent food, large portions, fairly priced. Great service. Nice view. Highly recommended.
Friendly attentive staff and the Lunenburg fish fry (with scallops and shrimp) was IMHO the best fish n chips platter I've yet encountered. Cripspy, not greasy and tender....better than that in even my trip to London.
A nicely rounded menu and great service. Try their Hush Puppies as an appy, you won't regret it
Great place and good view.
A wonderful Night Out! We were in Lunenburg overnight while touring Nova Scotia. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed some wonderful beers and lovely seafood dinners. Would highly recommend the food and the service was excellent! Great view out over the harbour too!
Food was great. Bluenose beer was great too. Was perfect day on the patio.
The food was cold expensive and poor quality. Hardly what youd expect from a warf Restaraunt.
If you are on a bus tour you ll get a good view and decent service, otherwise ....
Best calamar ever eat... nice view and lovely service
Me and my husband do not understand all the hype about this place. weve had much better seasfood in Lunenburg. and very expensive. Although it does have a beautiful view. Not to mention the service! We are not sure if he was new or just having a bad day but our young waiter James Good was slow and ignorant about our hole experience. And I had to bring it to the attention of the manager that he had a booger in his nose that we were afraid migt fall into our food.GROSS! Manageres surely should be more attentive to this .We reccomend The Fish Shack if you want a cool service experience and great food and you can enjoy sitting on the patio.
One of the worst places I've been to on the east coast.
Sorry to say but this was the worst ever dining experience. We’ve been waiting for almost an hour for just the table and then another almost an hour for food waiting. I ordered sea food chowder and argghh…I don’t like the taste, taste like spoil? I can’t explain. While waiting the food, we’ve been served water even our glass still full. However, location is great and the fish and chips also good. Please note that this place is crowded during summer season. We’ve been visiting here on the month of August.
Steamed lobster was overcooked and tough. Came with nothing but a salad. Waitress screwed up drink order and said manager wouldn't change it without our paying for the error. Talked to manager when we left. She had an attitude and made no attempt to make us happy. Our message to her that her customer had been mistreated fell on deaf ears. In retrospect we should have left when the screw up was first made.
Good service, very tasty food (not fancy but delicious), great view and excellent cider (Shipbuilders Cider).
Good fish and chips, poutine and fries are excellent
Food was reasonable. We had the Gumbo and Crab Cakes. Gumbo was with rice and seafood in a Cajun sauce. Interesting recipe. We asked for bread to help with the sauce, the kitchen came back with a single slice. Seafood and bread don't mix, lol. The service was incredible fast. Kitchen is organized and our food was served surprisingly quick. Five tables were seated all at once at Samara's section, she efficiently and effectively processed all of our orders and got us in and out fairly quick. Note that we were there around 2 pm and had to wait several minutes to get seated. "Shout out" to Samara and thank you for making our experience positive.
Are at this restaurant on July 28th! It was a chilly day, the said they were full inside and we would have to sit on the patio! Later to know they had tables that could accommodate the group (7) As cold as it was we decided to try the restaurant out because of all the reviews we read, being so cold and being water front you’d think it would be safe to assume they would have out door heaters or more indoor options. With that being said, we started off not enjoying it as much as we’d hope and everything continued to get worse from there. After 15 minutes of waiting to be created by our server, she came and asked if we were ready to order of dinners. She was unprepared, no more pen or pad to take down orders... as she returns she asked if we wanted appetizers, we ordered the muscles for the table, (dropped in boiled salt water and served with melted butter on the side) with it being so cold by the time she brought the order to the table the muscles were chilled and the butter beginning to re-solidify. They brought our alone, no throw bowl for shells nor utensils or napkins. We later on had our orders taken, and those as well on arrival everything came out cold, she blamed the cold food on it being busy... which would be understandable if you visually could see how busy it was. On the patio two couples and one other family of (4) she was only serving our table and the couple across from us. So we requested for our food to be sent back, because all of the plates were to cold to enjoy... Once the food did return half an hour later.. everyone was so dissatisfied with the experience they wanted to go. And she said “sorry nothing I can do the kitchen staff is busy, the foods here now enjoy!” We began picking at our food, and everything was just lacking flavour... With all that being said, service was bad! And the food was not worth the price because it lacked flavour as well as portion for price! The view was nice!
Extremely accommodating for my family. Delicious flavorful food! Trish was an amazing waitress, friendly and helpful with suggestions. The fish tacos were great! Beautiful location right on the dock by the water. And lots of fun interactive items around!
Came here on a day with a heat warning and foolishly sat on the patio. Our waiter (Doug?) was so awesome and got us a spot inside when there was space. He was hustling in the heat and we appreciated it. The meals were good. I had lobster and salad and my partner had the lobster roll. Both were tasty. The atmosphere was nice with festive folk music. The view is beautiful of the water. Everyone working there was beyond helpful and friendly despite the exhausting weather.
Very good scallops halibut and crab cake
Good food, attached to the museum.
Great service. Food was meh. They didn't even try. Would recommend trying somewhere else. For the prices.... Not worth it.
Good food, nice view, on the deck
Lovely views and great service.
Loved our waitress Michelle(?), she has a very warped sense of humour and marvelous people skills. My wife Kristy, loved the lobster and disappointingly didn't wear any of it! The lobster tacos were very tasty and the handmade chips were tasty. Great view, great service, great seafood. Will return when we get a chance?
Oysters were very fresh and beers were ice house cold!!
Was as always very good food and best service. Top recommended for visiting Lunenburg.
great views from inside the restaurant .
Friendly bar staff and service.
The food was amazing!
Very nice, easy going restaurant. Atmosphere is quiete enjoyable and the crowd is a little bit older just given the city you're in. Our food was pretty good, drinks were fine but it was quite hot in the actual restaurant despite being ensured it was air conditioned. Still a very nice time and not too loud so it's easy to enjoy each others company.
Best seafood in Lunenburg. Calamari is to die for! You really can't go wrong with any fish item on the menu.
Great food, pet friendly, outside patio on the dock, good staff and loved the dark ale.
The food is amazing!! Service was great! The view to the ocean wow ! Shure be back. Thanks for great experience!!!
The location is amazing and that is what you are paying for. The prices are astronomical considering that the food is fairly basic. Having said that, the service and food quality is decent and portions are generous. Also the food is fresh, so you do enjoy it.
We wandered into this restaurant by accident. It looked interesting, right on the waterfront. I think in normal times the restaurant is inside the Fisheries Museum but now there is a booth where you order and you're given a table on the pier and your meal is brought to the table. I had the lobster taco and my wife had the fish taco. Both were delicious. Outside, on the waterfront, under an awning. Lovely spot.
Haven't tasted Salmon like this in a long time. Calamari was Awesome. so Happy that I selected The Old Fish Factory, you won't be disappointed.
Share review Embed review Write an update Edit review 8/23/2019 8 photos I'd give here a 3.5. Tried it for lunch on a hot Tuesday in August, having driven to Lunenburg for the day from Halifax. I didn't realize it was in the museum building, but after popping into the museum to get cooled off from the heat, noticed. The menu looked great on the door, so we went in. It took a minute for a staff member to find someone to seat us, but it didn't matter, as we were in no rush and the place was still mostly empty (I guess had just opened for the day). We were put at a table along the front window with the amazing waterfront view. There must be seating in here for 100. Casual pub with nautical decor throughout, large bar, plaid booths & wooden tables, lots of natural light. Friendly service. The lobster tail roll ($27 Nova Scotia lobster tossed in smokey tomato dill mayo, on top of fresh greens and an artisan bun. Served with a side house salad.) was very good and filling. Lots of meat on the bun, the mayo didn't dominate, the bun standard. My friend had the pan fried haddock (topped with lemon dill butter. Served with garlic mashed potato and house salad. $18) and commented that the fish was quite good, strong in lemon flavor, lightly done, decent potato, average salad. Both walked away content and a bit full once you add a beer to the meal. There are a lot of menu items I'd really like to try next time in town.
Amazing seafood and right by the harbour for a great view while eating!
A bit expensive but you pay for the view. A lot of gluten free options but the taco shell is the worst, which is a pity since a regular taco shell is made out of corn flour. Should change supplier. Food is really nice.
(Translated) Wonderful food and nice service (Original) Wunderbares Essen und nette Bedienung
Customer Service was great, but food was so poorly done. Ordered fish and chips and the batter was barely cooked and the fries were alright.
I had the Stuffed Haddock for dinner here, and let me tell you. It was the best fish I have ever had! The consistency, flavour, texture, and plating were all on point and I was blown away by it all! Our server Emily was nice as well and to top it off our patio view by the waterfront was spectacular. Couldn't have asked for a better supper in Lunenburg.
Food is decent. Great view of the harbour. It's super close to the museum. Only complaint is the service can sometimes be slow
The food, staff and view were spectacular both of the nights we had dinner here.
Nice place, good quality food.
Nice place right on the harbour, with nice views. Food is decent as well, and not too expensive.
Great waterfront view with huge portions!
A must see
The food was average, but I'm giving it 4 stars because the service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating.
Decided to try this spot out a couple years after last visit to Lunenburg. The staff is still very friendly, helpful, and provide good service. Nice to see a growing craft beer list where you can get a mini growler of local beer to drink while sitting along the window with a great view. However the food has regressed a bit compared to our last visit - the portion sizes have become a bit smaller - specifically the trio sampler. Still a good place, but can see the differences compared to last visit.
Awesome atmosphere and great fish and chips Love the staff
It took almost an hour for food to come but it was great and our server Becky(I think) was fantastic. They were extremely busy and we felt uncomfortabld asking Becky to take one family picture fof us...she took four from different angles, she recommended places for us to visit in the area..we were very pleased with our food and the server.
Good pizza
Nice waterview location in former fish processing facility. Food quality above average but not exceptional. Friendly, attentive service.
Try the Chowder- Dry fish in a bowl of milk. Don't get seconds. Your cat will LOVE it.
Fantastic food and amazing service in the perfect setting :) Hope to be back soon!!
The best calamari in town! Amazing food and large portions. Would definitely recommend this place!!
The food selection was great, the flavour was fantastic and the beer sampler gave us the ultimate Nova Scotia experience. Highly recommend the lobster tacos, trio sampler, fish and chips and scallops. I will definitely go back if I get the chance. The only downside was service was slow - but the waitress was very friendly.
Location is excellent, the city is extremely nice . Parking is an issues if you go on the weekend. Waiting to be seated, was reasonable and within expectations. Services, was good, the waitress and waiters are nice and very welcoming. Waiting to get the food, it was longer than expected. However, wasn't an issue. Food quality and quantity, I had the halibut dish, it was delicious and tasty. Quantity wasn't enough. I wasn't feeling full or even good. Steak was good and even the burgers ???????? Cleanliness, the employees were on top of keeping the table sanitized and clean, cleaning was plausible. Price vs the whole service. Is acceptable $$ and normal. The view from the restaurant was extremely relaxing. Conclusion, the restaurant is cozy, nice ???????? And if you go there, dont miss it. Thank you for being nice
Bit pricey but good food and staff
Their lobster dinner and blueberry cake are amazing!
Thank you to the staff for hosting the late night sessions for the Boxwood Festivals folks! Hope to see you all again next July!
Great views...the waitress recommended our dinner and she was right it was great.....It was a wait busy place,.....
We visited the museum and the Bluenose 2. It was a great experience! We had the lobster tacos. They were served cold with kettle-style fries chips on the side. They were ok but i wish the lobster was abit warmer. However the brownie after that was superb! Love the Icecream too!
Stopped by for dinner this evening and was somewhat disappointed. The visit started off well with the hostess being awesome. There were no outside tables available so she set us up at the bar to enjoy a beverage while we waited for our table. The wait was short and the staff were great at moving us from the bar to out table. The two of us ordered the surf and turf skewers. We both found the tenderloin to be overdone and somewhat chewy. But our main disappointment was after we finished our meal and drank our beers we had to find a hostess to hunt down our server to get our bill. It was a good thing we didn't want to have another drink or desert as no one was available to order it from.
Great service and amazing Outside patio
The waiter's & food were excellent love mirrored windows
Food was great 2 peice fish was huge. Great view. Good service. Might want to make reservations due to bus tours etc.
Great food great service. Very clean!!
Good food. Beer selection isn't amazing. Nice place to sit down for a meal.
Home-made chips were delicious. The crab : lobster dis was warm and tasty, but seemed to be missing crab and lobster
(Translated) Good service and good food. :-) (Original) Bon service et bonne nourriture. :-)
Food was very fresh
Food was excellent. I had the veggie burger that they have and the house salad. Was delicious!
Meh. Pub fair with 4 star prices. Service was good but its a tourist trap by all means. YMMV.
Had drinks by the water, beautiful
Yummy ????
The food is good except the seafood chowder we ordered it just below average, there is more fish then other in a bowl, and doesn't look good, it looks like destroyed scramble fish. Very pricy for a restaurant near the fishing ground. More like tourist price.
Food was alright, good beer selection , friendly environment
Great view, great food and very nice restaurant.
Decided to try this place this afternoon. Menu is extremely small, not many choices at all. Prices kind of steep for what you get. Menu is miss leading as the fish and chips photo next to the description shows a two piece when in fact it’s only a one piece. Fish and fries were good just should be more. Wouldn’t go back again!
Great place to eat
Such a cool place!
Fresh seafood, large servings and great service.
Nice atmosphere, great food and the service was awesome! Thanks Emily for the great recommendations and attentive service.
Very nice place, nicely decorated. Good food
Good food. Good beer. Good views
Good food ok service the only true problem was the ac vents had condensation and it dripped on our table.
Decent food. Designed for tourists but looks like locals go there in the evening. . Opposite the Blue Nose when I was there. Attached to a marine museum.
Great server...ok food
Good seafood
Service was great (the employees were working very hard and should be commended) but the food was mostly disappointing. The bacon wrapped scallops appetizer was delicious and cooked to perfection but the entrees were not so great. Two of us had the mussels, which were a little too fishy (in the not so fresh way) and the broth was very watery and lacked flavor. One of us had the burger which was very basic and mediocre honestly. One of us had the scallop risotto and while the scallops were very good and generously portioned, the risotto was very bland. Lastly, one of us had the scallop tacos which were okay but the menu says nothing about cheese and yet they were topped with cheese. Who puts cheese on scallops??? It was very strange and the waitress tried to play it off that it was listed as an ingredient on the menu. (I’ve since double checked online and there is no mention of cheese). We were also disappointed that the kitchen had run out of lobster rolls, oysters, calamari, and the seared tuna. Granted I appreciate that they probably buy these ingredients fresh and in limited quantities so I don’t judge them too harshly for it, but it did add to the disappointment of the overall experience.
Great food, nice views, good service. We come here every year when we visit.
Great place for food and drinks right alongside the Bluenose. Well priced good waitresses!
We finally got the chance to try this place early in the Fall once tourism slowed down a bit and the wait wasn't so long. My husband and I both had the fish tacos, which were unbelievably delicious - but also, humongous! We easily could have shared them. Blueberry marinated onions?! Whoever thought of that needs a kiss on the mouth - they were the perfect flavour and compliment to the meaty fish! Only thing we didn't enjoy was that there was a lot of the coleslaw in the tacos - still delicious but did make them a bit difficult to eat. My mom and grandma both enjoyed their meals - the homemade chips were the best we've ever had - I ate them all, and I usually leave most of my fries when we eat out. Service was a tad slow, but the quality of the food and variety of craft beer for my husband made the trip worth it. We would absolutely go again!
The ambiance can't be beat when you're sitting on the patio on a warm fall day! Good service, great food. I've been here both times I found myself in Lunenburg and was never disappointed. Try the apple cake with vanilla ice cream!
Great venue on the harbour front with friendly staff. We had stuffed cod, scallops, summer seafood stew, chowder and surf and turf. All we're very tasty.
We were there six years ago and I have been trying to find fish and chips equal since. Haven't and we have traveled the northeast U.S. and southeast Canada since. If you are in the middle of the desert do not order fish and when you are here why waste your money on pasta. Get the fish!
Good seafood, nice relax setting.
i love the food here and everything, i like mike and how he runs this restaurant. the reason why i am rating this place as a one star because one of there workers Logan work at this place and was being very inappropriate in a gross way. i boycott places that have worker that behave this poorly and its very unprofessional in my opinion
Great sea food great atmosphere
(Translated) Very good lobster and very good service ... (Original) Très bon homard et très bon service...
Excellent food and world class service. Check out the museum while you wait... what more could one ask for. Cheers
Fantastic food! Fish perfectly cook!
Seafood chowder was the best I have ever had!
The only dishes that did not turn out were the fish and chips. It is possible they cooked too much fish in the same fryer and it became saturated with oil. They were able to help making things work out for the best. The scallops, oysters, and stuffed fish dish.
Dropped in on a whim to avoid the rain, and ended up being absolutely amazed at the quality of service. Heather was a phenomenal server! We had the daily special Blackened Fish Tacos, and while they were a bit in the spicy side, they were my favorite fish tacos in recent memory. Highly recommended.
The stuffed haddock was awesome
(Translated) Friendly service. Nice view of the harbor. Good price performance ratio ???? (Original) Freundliche Bedienung. Schöner Blick auf den Hafen. Gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis ????
Dined outdoors, beautiful setting. Food was very good and well priced. Staff were especially friendly. Overall, a very good dining experience. Highly recommended.
Food was great and service was too.
We were in the area and thought we would search restaurants by the water. This restaurant was fabulous. Great local beer, fantastic apps and the meals were delicious. Our server Erin was a doll. My daughter absolutely loved her and even gave her a great big hug. Thank you for being wonderful and passing your happiness to your guests. We will be back. P.s. the view is breathtaking; whether you're inside or on their wharfside patio
Yummy!
Good food
Very good service, really good food (but not exceptional), and great location, especially if you have a view of the water. Plenty of parking space all around. The interior is rustic and cozy. Servers are all in great shape running up and down the stairs.
Lobster & crab dip - 14.99$ - not the right consistency of a dip. Was very runny. Seasoning was very light. Almost non-existent. Torillas were passable at best. Not worth 15$. But it wasn't terrible. Fish and chips 12.99 w/ extra fish 3.99 - fish was over cooked and extremely oily. Was sat on top of the bed of fries so there were half a dozen fries that we're good to eat. The rest were soggy and a mess. Mussels 11.99 - had a mix up and wrong plate was brought to us so the sat for a time and were brought out cold. We sent the plate back reluctantly and were presented with an extremely warm inviting plate of mussels! They were warm but overcooked. The water must have not been seasoned and left them tasting very bland even with the helping of garlic butter! They were supposed to be cooked in a white wine vinegar but taste as if they were cooked in a drum of recycled toilet water. As well as a vast majority of the mussels had large rocks in them which means they were prepared incorrectly from the get go. To end, I will not come back but the staff were wonderful and extremely friendly and understanding. Our server Sydney (I believe is how she spelt it) was spectacular and even took the mussels off the bill due to the poor quality. We appreciate her kindness greatly. The kitchen definitely needs to work on their abilites in cooking seafood considering it's a seafood restaurant. Extremely disappointed in this visit. To add: ended up being sick due to the condition and quality of the food. So very unfortunate end to what was supposed to be a fun day.
Too expensive, dry haddock, no colouring for kids.
Awesome Location and Great Food!!! We were in Lunenburg for a day and stopped by at The Old Fish Factory, specially for its superb location (on the wharf, facing ocean). The food was great too. Big portions, and tasteful. The staff were friendly and accommodating. It was a long wait time and there was an older couple infront of us; they arranged seating for them until they got a table. This was very considerate and kind. Clean restrooms were a plus too. Loved our experience here. Tip: street parking is free after 5pm. Tip: bring some warm clothing. For us it was a warm day with 23C but the ocean wind made it chilly after 30 minutes. Highly recommended.
Great food and service
Nice view of the harbor. Shared fish and chips. Fries were good but the fish had too much batter and was a little greasy.
Decent food; kind of pub fare...
This place was awesome!
Very overpriced for food. And the food was very mediocre as well. Went there twice and hoped the second time would be better but it wasn't at all. Staff are very nice but this place is really a trap to get tourists to come and spend lots of money on food.
Food was fantastic, however the wait was very long. Prices are high for fish that is caught locally.
Great food and awesome stuff! You must ear here if you visit Lunenburg, NS.
(Translated) We were very friendly and attentive, the food was very tasty, the atmosphere was very comfortable, the toilets were in acceptable condition. (Original) Wir wurden sehr freundlich und aufmerksam bedient, das Essen war sehr schmackhaft, das Ambiente urgemütlich, auch die Toiletten waren im akzeptablen Zustand.
(Translated) The lobster is so delicious! (Original) 龍蝦真好吃!
Great meal and environment, nearly best chowder i have had.
What I did get was good, however, not very accommodating with food requests.
Return visitor, did not disappoint. Great fish and chips!
Awesome patio and good service. Food was just ok though.
Yum! Loves the fish fry and the lobster tacos. Batter on the shrimp and haddock was some of the best I have ever had. Friendly staff, super on top of everything. Excellent service. Gorgeous view (were there for start of sunset)
The food was amazing. Service was really nice. Seafood chowder is a must to have here.
Prices were geared to tourists (meaning over priced) and quality was below average at least compared to what we've experienced down east. I finished my lunch but wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.
Good atmosphere and food. Great location to watch the harbour and world go by.
Pure amazing... The for, the service, the view and they got WiFi just ask the waiter for the password. Great for the whole family or friends or even alone. Best thing I'd that the waiters know what they are taking about as in they know the dishes well. A good season restaurant, these guys got you covered.
We were looking for a good place to eat with our dog and this place was simply perfect. Good food, good service, reasonable price for the quality of the food. We had a wonderful time! Would definitely recommend both for lunch and dinner.
Waited 45 minutes for a bowl of chowder and mussels before asking if there was an ETA on when these appies would arrive. Our waitresses response: “I’ll go check” returned five minutes later to let us know the kitchen said “it’s still going to be quite awhile and did we want to just cancel?” What the?!?! We came here to eat, not wait and be told to just cancel!
Worth a stop! We had the special of scallops wrapped in bacon and sautéed veggies of beets, carrots and zucchini and Caesar salad. The best scallops we had on our vacation. Service was great! Outdoor seating and windows with a view. The Jost wine was excellent. I say give it a go!
Good serivce with an awesome view. Fish and chips were good but the salad was bitter and the adding chicken nearly doubled the cost.
Great food, great view!
Great, service food and location. If the price was a little better it would have been 5 stars
We just got back from a week out east for our mini honeymoon and the Old Fish Factory was by far my favourite restaurant! We hadn't even been planning on going here for dinner and stumbled upon it on the boardwalk. First, it has the best location and view in all of Lunenberg as it is right on the water. Second, the selection of craft beer is incredible. Third, the food was delicious. I got the Scallop Risotto, which the scallops were local from about 500 m away. I was expecting to get 3 or 4 scallops, and got about 15! The price for the amount of food I got I could not believe, it was so well priced. Will definitely come back.
Do not order the oysters! Shells in 11 out of 12 and the 12th had gone bad.
Great staff. Amazing burger. We will be back.
Great view off patio. Fast and diligent service. Split the Fishermans platter (or something along the lines of that name) between 2 of us and was plenty of food, but seafood was a bit bready
(Translated) Excellent location with terrace. First-class fish dishes and cheap lobster. Excellent beer selection and service. Should definitely be visited. (Original) Hervorragende Lage mit Terasse. Erstklassige Fischgerichte und preiswerten Hummer. Hervorragende Bierauswahl und Bedienung. Sollte unbedingt besucht werden.
Our plan for the day was to travel to Lunenburg for lunch. Our choice to eat at the Old Fish Factory was perfect. I had the lunch special of Caesar Salad with Tuna and Salmon skewers. It was fresh and delicious. My wife had the scallops and loved them. I recommend this restaurant and would eat there again. A big thank you to our server Soleil.
Just amazing. Great food, great staff, nice building and location overlooking water.
Location is simply unmatched. No better way to enjoy your meal while soaking in the beautiful Lunenburg and the balmy wharf breeze while taking in the sights and sounds around. Staff is cordial and good variety of food to choose from. Restrooms are upstairs please note. Paid Parking during day time.
Inviting staff, superb patio seating, great views, nice view.
Delicious food and pet friendly tables on the patio!
Great spot on the deck!
Fresh sea food
Good food, 4 stars because the portions are a bit tiny. But it tastes amazing
Last year, I had the Fish Tacos and they were delightful. The wild blueberry pickled onions made these tacos my favourite. This year for my birthday, all I wanted was to experience this dish again. Unfortunately, I was incredibly disappointed. The one sliver of wild blueberry pickled onion was not enough to mask the putrid taste of undercooked soggy fish. The lack luster mayo or supposed to be tarter sauce really missed the mark. Considering the price of the meal, I would have expected something a least half decent. I am upset that I have recommended this restaurant/meal to people in the past as I would not want to be responsible for anyone having to experience such a diaster.
Great position and views of the water. Large portions of comfort food and some really good dishes of the day. Relaxed and friendly staff.
Very kid friendly. Visited with a 1.5, 8 and 10 year old. Our server made a suggestion on how to get something the 8 year old wanted (shrimp) that wasn't on the kids menu, great service.
An amazing place to sit by the water front and enjoy the food. Loved the Medley by the Sea. The portions are huge. The staff was extremely friendly and prompt
Warning: Oh my gosh dont go here ???????? The only great part of our experience was our waitress (trish) and the drinks. We waited over an hour and a half/two hours for food and it was mediocre at best (for example: our friends ordered the tacos and their lettuce had brown edges and was quite wilty/gross... most dishes were cold ). Just would not recommend at all and next time we visit we will be avoiding this resturant. Save your money and your time!
(Translated) Great (Original) Toll
Food was fresh and staff friendly. The whole lobster was divine!
A nice place to have dinner with the family. You get great views of the boats docked outside as well as the lush golf course across the water. They have free wifi and a good menu.
Great spot Good service Decent food
(Translated) Fly in the restaurant. I ordered a strawberry juice, I was given a badly closed bottle and there was apple juice. We waited 30 minutes for a meal that we really hate. (Original) Des mouche dans le resto. J'ai commandé un jus de fraise, on m'a rapporter une bouteille mal fermé et il y'avait de jus de pomme. Nous avons attendu 30 minutes pour un repas que nous avons vraiment détester.
Quite disappointing. Has changed for the worse in recent years. Food quality below average. They even get nachos wrong (made with soggy potato chips...). Greasy risotto drowned in some kind of cream. Service also slowish/not attentive... Can't make hot chocolate for kids only cold chocolate. Don't know why they can't heat it... Location is great...everything else not so much ...
3 of us went for lunch. The chowder was different than most I have tried. It has a very thin milk sauce, but was full of seafood. The reason for the 3 stars is the chips were cold. How can a seafood restaurant that is busy serve cold fries with their fish?
Fish and chips were good but overall nothing special. Great views, good place to have a drink and relax for a bit.
Awesome view!
There was a great menu variety, Wesley our waiter was very good, the view of the harbour was spectacular, I had 12 raw oysters, & a large baked seafood medley, that was out standing, & the wife had pan fried haddock, was also amazing.
(Translated) A little expensive! (Original) Un peu cher!
Sophie our server took very good care of us! We had an excellent lunch after a little fishing trip. Really enjoyed our meal and the friendly service. Will be back for sure next time we are in town.
Greatest views of the waterfront! Eating inside or outside in good weather. Friendly servers and excellent locally sourced seafood! The best location on the wharf.
Just ok food!
A good family resturant, I had the fish tacos. The fish was ok, but the stand out was the blueberry onions! Not my top resturant in the area, but a nice change with good ambiance.
Great views, good tasty food. Well priced
V good.
Touristy feel but very solid fish, mussels and service. I'd come back.
Good food, good service.
Good food good service
Great food, location and prices! We decided to go all out with the blueberries and got blueberry juice (made locally - tasted amazing!) and blueberry cake for dessert (blueberries were great but cake itself was okay). We ended up getting the fish tacos and lobster tacos; both of which were delicious. We were hoping to go back again during our stay in Lunenburg but the timing didn't work out. A must-try restaurant in Lunenburg!
ok food ..great views of harbor
Great food and staff.
This place is ok. I wish I'd give it a 4 out of 5 but the fish n chips wasn't that great and we had to wait roughly 1hr to get our food. You definitely should eat there once for the amazing view they have and the decor.
Loved it. Great food and pricing.
A great place for families or large groups. There are more upscale restaurants in Lunenburg that are worth the visit.
Excellent food and friendly staff! Fantastic experience!
Very delicious. Had the lobster cream cheese wrapped in haddock. My husband had the fried sampler. Kids enjoyed the options (apples and kraft dinner). Food was pricey but service was great. We went around 5 and didn't wait long for anything.
Best Lobster in town
Good food...
Great dining experience. The restaurant is inside the same buiding as the museum. The waitress is so nice. Foods are fresh and are prepared so fast. Tables beside windows have nice view of the bay. I saw many people have ordered cocktails, so I guess their cocktails must be so good.... Would like to give a try if no need to drive next time. Highly recommend calamari and lobster guacamole. Must try!
No points given. We walked into the main host area and asked to sit outside, they told us to walk on down the stairs and follow the other customers. We chose our seat at 5:25, at 5:35 I asked the hostess for some menus she came over brought us menus and apologized, great no biggie...5:45 still no server and 5 tables around us who sat after us were served, had drinks and menus taken away. We ended up leaving at 5:50. I'm assuming it's because we had two small children with us, they didn't want us there because the hostess just walked behind us and took away the menus from the table. I'm annoyed to say the least
The best lobster roll I’ve ever tried!
Superb view right down by the water. Great local beers; go for the sampler. Lobster and crab dip, well, we ordered two! It's that good. Go for it.
Good food
Dog-friendly patio and awesome fish tacos right on the boardwalk!
