Went there for breakfast. I ordered the Samuel de Champlain special. I selected French toast. Like everything except the fruits. Canned fruit that was very sweet.

Douglas Carty

I had a great experience here wonderful food waiting on my next trip there

Scott Graham

Service slow, lots of errors in order (1 drink in a table of 4 only arrived after 3 reminders to staff, one special request not made but added to the bill, not quality checks) and food average at best

nikki “Scrumptious” k

It was ok but I don't recommend it if you want to have big meals it is good to drink coffee and has a bar , but we went there for dinner we ordered our food it took a long time for them to bring it, and when they finally brought the food it did not taste good but the cafe is ok and the food is a ripoff.????????

Jose Pampanico

It was January 1 and only few restaurant open and offer take out. Luckily we found Cafe Buade. Sa our family dinner 3 Poutines.

Feel the vibe

Good food with good service.u can get local beer and wine. They have special menu sometimes.100 years old family restaurant.you can try it..

eddy brook

Fair prices and great food. Our server Leo was excellent. A very nice And helpful young man

Jon T

Understaffed slow service. Very friendly though. Saw server microwaving hot drinks for others. Very strange. Coffee wasn’t fresh. Probably would not return.

jaspreet kaur

Overrated !! Food is below average We are just out of this place. They served us burnt pizza. Poor service !! Poor food ..!!

Lana Cox

We stopped for dinner and had the fish & chips and a burger. One of the options with the burger was a house salad. Having driven all day, the salad sounded good so I ordered a side salad with my fish & chips. The burger was very good but the fish was just so-so. The salad however was great and really made the meal. The spring mix was very fresh and probably the best I ever had. The dressing went well with the vegetables in the salad.

Oana Sirb

Excellent fish and poutine dishes, servers really nice but sadly it takes forever to get your food and your bill, which is why I have to give it 4 starts. One hour experience at 1 PM to eat a meal that takes 15 minutes to eat.

Vanessa Kennedy

The food was pretty good definitely would recommend the smoked salmon bagel. However, the service was really slow and the washroom is not inside the restaurant and annoying to access (you have to ask for a token to use it).

heyylen

I don't usually leave bad reviews but the food was really bad. The spicy Buffalo wings were way too salty and spicy - completely inedible. The fries in the poutine was not fresh at all, and the cheese inside tastes like rubber. The service was not friendly at all. For the quality of the food, the prices are way too high. Would not recommend, go somewhere better if you want to eat.

Andres Pastrana

People really rude, we just asked if it was possible to sit down outside due to small pet we had. The guy just kicked us out without a single sign of politeness.

Priscilla Peron

The food could be better, but the service is very good. The dessert was amazing (Maple pie with ice cream)

He David

Definitely an old resturaunt serving food above average. Poutine had great gravy sauce, but the fries was average and the cheese were chunky. I can definitely take that consider its price point! The wings were served a little bit raw, but when we asked for re-heat, it ended up pretty well as the seasoning was very well-made. Garden salad had a large portion, yet its sauce is a bit bland. The service was great, but one server is too busy to deal with 8 tables. To summarize up, this place has a potential to be better, and if you are looking for a place that costs you less on food, this place is not a bad option. Oh and I love the Canadian Pea Soup hh. -------- Update: I got serious of diarrhea for the next 3 days. So, food safety is still a problem.

Speedy Gonçalves

Was ok but with over 100 years of service I expected a bit more. Tasted great but left a bit hungry and my friend who ate with me was not impressed with the salmon and lack of vegetables when that was one of the selling factors. Overall venue and service was ok

Chris Redford

Stopped in on a Tuesday at lunch. Poutines and beer for all 4 members of our party. Poutine was very good, cheese curds were fresh and plentiful, gravy was yummy! Beer was good!

Mark Manthy

Great place. Think NYC diner with a nice Quebecois twise. Breakfast was great.

Shari King

Where's the fish? Seriously, my fish and chips was 99% batter. The fish was as thin as a piece of cardboard and tasted like it too! The ribs my husband got were great. Just expected better fish seeing how this place is very close to the water lol

Kenya Blanco

Good food and nice staffing.

Lisa Lannin

The food was ok Disappointed for the price

D Brown

Amazing poutine and friendly staff :)

Alex Campbell

Honestly just had one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. August 4, party of 15. At least two have food poisoning. Entrees took 75 minutes and were disgusting. Veggie burger was like a stew, needed a spoon to eat it. Prime rib was tiny and stringy. Salmon was tiny and overcooked. Nobody in the group was happy with their food. Salad dressing tasted off. Probably worst of all, the kids menu cheese pizza had freaking chilis in the sauce. You DONT SERVE CHILIS TO CHILDREN. Our server had 9 tables. A party of 15 should have a dedicated server. It was 45 after our first drink order that I finally flagged her down for a second beer. Left without the dessert that was included in the table d'hote.

Steven Breakingbury

100 year old restaurant (per their signage). Small cosy authentic feeling restaurant. We had poutine nice crispy fries and gravy and cheese. Other items included pizza and more. Friendly service.

Fifi

DO NOT COME HERE! The worst food in Old town Quebec city and HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I don't know how they manage to be on business for 100 years. That's what they claimed! Perhaps under different ownership and definitely a different cook. Food was super bad....very salty. AVOID this place. Any place will definitely better than this place. SUPER AWFUL SERVICE AND BAD FOOD.

Robin Batty

Excellent little restaurant with quality food. My wife and I had the chicken quesadilla and a poutine. Very good. Fast service.

Jean-Francois Moreau

The service was very slow, the waiter was not really friendly and food was so so. For instance my wife's hamburger was overdone and very dry.

Léa Lemaire

I had a nice Fish'n chip, the waiter was very kind to us and the food was good! Also the prices were ok. I recommend this place!

Loana Holzmann

The food was good and the staff was really nice and friendly. We have a wonderful meal.

Michel Fortin

Do not go to that restaurant. I went there with a friend and his family that were visiting Quebec City last week. The fact that we could sit 7 people without reservation on a Friday night when everywhere around was full should have been the first hint of what was to come. We waited over 45 minutes to get the food after the order was taken from the waiter. In the meantime 4 people arrived after us and sat at a table nearby. They had ordered, eaten and left before we even got our food. While waiting we ordered 2 Coors Light and were told that they only had one. Otherwise we had to choose something else from the extremely limited beer menu. I ended up drinking coke. When the food finally arrived the french onion soup had to be returned. It was so salty, no one at the table could eat it. When the replacement soup arrived it was only slightly less salty. Of all the food that was ordered, nothing could be qualified as good, only passable. For the price, don't bother with this restaurant. Except for it's claim of being the oldest in Quebec, this restaurant has no redeeming features.

Andy Zigmantas

This restaurant was recommended by a local. I tried the pea soup and the poutine here. I enjoyed it what I had, but my wife said her fish dish was a bit "fishy". Then again, the fish she had should taste fishy. The service was great, I wish I could remember the girls name that served us. I thought that the price was good considering how expensive this city is.

Magali Gagnon

It took a very long time before the waitress came to see us. Nobody checked on us during our meal, we asked for water and never got it... very disappointed.

Patrick Bastien

Good food, but we had terrible service from the waiter and it wasn't because the place was crowded. We will not be going back.

Kurt Von Krausewitz

The oldest restaurant in Quebec City, this old timey dinner offers great food at reasonable prices in the middle of the tourist trap.

D Wilson

Okay. Service was a bit slow. To be fair it was on Canada's Thanksgiving. The entertainment was superb if you people watch. This is a family establishment. They called in others in the family to handle the tourist volume. What dedication! More importantly it was delicious. So go. Enjoy!

Madison Medina

My family and I went here for lunch. As a vegan, there were not many options. I decided on the veggie baguette (minus the mozzarella) and a side salad. It was pretty good, they weren’t stingy on the veggies and the salad dressing was great. There wasn’t too much marinara though. We also got fish and chips, a caesar salad, the smoked meat sandwich, and pea soup. Besides the pea soup being too watered down and the caesar salad being okay for what it was, the food was good.

Pratush Nair

Amazing food bit of wait time but worth it ... even the nachos were made from scratch ❤

Rohit Jajoo

Initially, we picked this place for lunch simply because the menu had so many options to pick from including 5-6 vegetarian dishes. I end up picking a veggie burger and fries and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor of the …

Tally Pun

The service is good. A lot of choices to choose from for dinner. Maybe we chose a wrong dishes. For the price is ok and the food... We did have a little bit disappointed. I think we would pay a little bit more for a better looking and tastier food. Roasted salmon is $24 and the salmon tartare is $23 dinner, not a appetiter. The salmon tartare is tastier, but the look of the dishes.

Roberto Ocampo

Food took forever to arrive and all I ordered was a stir fry. They didn't look too busy at all but it took forever anyway. The price was average, food was ok, waitress was courteous. If the food arrived quicker then this would've been a 3 ????.

Javier Ignacio

excellent service and a very cozy atmosphere, to have a coffee and enjoy the tranquility and a good breakfast

Kenneth Zi (Otanaku Leana)

I did not try their dishes, but the desserts are mediocre (maybe a bit too sweet)

Laura Gauthier

Great little diner with good service and yummy food.

Moogy Taktik

This is a typical local food place located in the heart of old Quebec. Menu is the diner style and the clientele is older generation.

Kevin Weilbacher

My wife enjoyed her salad and I had their smoked meat sandeich. Delicious. Very nice interiors. Accessible from the street, but also part of a small upscale mall.

NYC Pilot

Ordered poutine with sausage which was filling. Sausage was warm with hot fries. Biggest disappointment was the pitcher of Sangria, which was not homemade with alcohol unnoticeable. Service was good and we were seated very quickly.

Ed Lemaire

Price is good for this tourist area. Food was average, grilled cheese and hamburger were below average. Never refilled water.

Alexis Rondeau

Food was okay, service was good. The place is a little bit run down. The price is okay. I had the fish and chips and it was soggy.

Harm D

My wife and I went for breakfast and had an amazing tasty meal. She had the traditional eggs Benedict (she loved it). I had the brunch Buade. Absolutely amazing. Literally brunch on a plate with sausage, bacon, meat pie, crepes, ham, baked beans and a bonus shot glass of a smoothy.! Well worth the price. Also, in response to other reviews, I like how the owner is attentive and responds to the negative reviews. You should also respond to the positive :) Ps our server was amazing and friendly thank you!

ASSC

Food was ok, but the service was terrible, I ordert a water and first they said only one water. That’s not okay for a restaurant.

Angela B

The quiche was great, pizza good and location excellent.

Pascal Lavoie

I ordered a General Tao, i was curious as how they would have presented it since this food is typically not canadian. I like challenges i guess lol Well it was a fail, the chiken was simply just stir fried chicken. that was false advertisment. The wife took a rib, which was the main dish. The rib was not even cook. It was hard as a rock. my new name for it, Cafe Beurk

John Hunt

Food was decent but nothing exceptional. Service was abysmal. Two orders of Poutine took 45 minutes or so to arrive. Our waiter could barely find the time to speak to us. I've never had the check tossed on my table without a word before.

Game God

Not a great place if you want food for your money. Sharing plate is $24.00 for four wings,2 pieces of over cooked garlic bread and 2 tiny cheese sticks. Wow.

Kayla Wannamaker

Great food, but service is a fairly slow

Taimur Channa

Food was decent nothing special. Wife ordered the croc masueuer , beir market has a more authentic one. We got there around 145pm, took 10 minutes to seat us and another 25 mins before our order was taken. After 10 mins waiter came back to tell me that they were out of duck, since the last 2 days, for the duck poutine I ordered. Waiter seemed apologetic enough for the delay. Looks like they were short staffed during the holidays.

Ian McKay

My goodness this place was bad. I had a $13 salad that consisted of spring mix, diced cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. It was worse than cafeteria food, very small and quite overpriced for the portion. My wife had a vegetarian stir fry. It was lower quality than some food court food. Do not eat here! There are better less expensive places close by.

Ambrose Chan

We came in for a late lunch on a Saturday. We were seated pretty quickly. The place looks really cozy and warm. The server was friendly. The food quality was really good. I ordered the salmon tartar and it was tasty.

Jaclyn Johnson

The poutine was awesome and we went their twice, different waiter/waitress and both were very friendly and helpful. Duck poutine according to my mom was great as well.

Anshika Arora

We had breakfast there, their veggie poutine was really delicious. Highly recommend them.

Francis Sager

Wonderful cafe in Old Québec that's great for breakfast. A simple but plentiful menu with hearty, sweet and savory options to please any one. Prices are very good, and you get a good portion for what you pay. The service is friendly, but can be slow at times leaving you with an inattentive feeling, especially if you're from a place with a faster pace of life. Overall, a very good place for some local cuisine.

Sreela Das

The service was reasonable, but the coffee was possibly the weakest I've had and the grilled cheese meal was only good in that you can't go too wrong with grilled cheese and potatoes. It was what I needed after a sleepless night and a long trip to Quebec, but if you're looking for a quality meal I would suggest you go elsewhere.

Max Rudnitski

Great restaurant, friendly workers and the soups and desserts were delicious

Guy Lemieux

great place for breakfast and supper

Frank B

The food was okay, the prices were a little bit on the steep side. Posted hours should be corrected as they seem to have almost refused is service due to showing up 30 minutes before closing.

Sushama K

The waitress (she wears glasses) served a horrible tasting pizza. By mistake the chef had added blue cheese in the Four-cheese pizza. When I informed about the pizza's bad taste n pungent smell, she didnot agree. After she got to know about the chef's mistake from the chef himself, then she agreed to replace the pizza. We kept waiting fr long though. We decided not to pay any tip becos of this bad service. She then passes remark sarcastically:"Oh! Free food." That waitress or the chef didnot say sorry even once either for serving wrongly baked pizza or, for making us wait so long. Horrible service n very unprofessional attitude!! The replacement pizza tasted better though.

Shawn Corkum

Went here twice on our 5 day visit to Quebec City. Really enjoyed the poutine! Had french onion soup the next time, which was good, but didn't seem to be one of their specialties. The fajitas were good, but the salsa and guacamole had so …

Michal Stachura

The spaghetti sauce was horrible. My friend returned the plate only to find out that she was charged full price for it. On top, the owner offered no excuses. I've never experienced such rude service in a restaurant. The only good thing was the poutine. But you can get that pretty much anywhere in Quebec. Avoid this place.

IamI A

Good taste and I tried my friend menu that was also good taste. All staffs are kind.

carmen LG

We had to wait a long time to be served. The nachos were burned, but we ate them because we were starving. The 4 cheese pizza was more like a vegetarian kid size pizza, all the portions were small. My husband asked for ketchup and received a tiny plastic container with enough ketchup for a chip or two. Way too expensive for what they offer. They are so well located that the quality of the food should be at the same level. The only good thing was the service.

Samuel Croteau

As a native, I think it's pretty representative of a typical Quebec family restaurant (although prices are much higher because of the location). If you don't want the fanciness of an upscale restaurant, just go for it! The Bolognese spaghetti is a classic.

C Grey

Food was great but service was extremely slow. We ordered poutine and soup. The place was half empty and it was not a busy time of day but it still took a long time to get the food. It took even longer to get the check. The whole experience took well over an hour for some poutine and soup.

Aaron Larsen

Food was middling at best (I can cook better at home) and was NOT worth the 40+ minute wait we had to put up with, considering how few people were there at the time. There is far better to be had than this.

Hareendra Gamage

Decent Fish and Chips!!

Trady Garzon

Good food and prices

Kevin Smith

Great breakfast for a surprisingly low price. The server was a bit overworked, so she forgot to bring some milk we ordered. Aside from that, it was outstanding. The breakfast menu in English had a nice variety of options, especially for us vegetarians.

Don

The food quality and prices were fine, but for some reason our lunches took forever to come out. This was after the lunch rush, about 2pm and we ordered simple poutine and a chicken sandwich. Finally got our meals after about an hour.

Tekin Yil

Great customer service, nice cozy patio on the street, our hostess was very knowledgeable and very friendly, The food was good, we got a vegetarian burger, and a Fish and Chips , both were good The beer was cold ???? To use the washroom you need a coin that the restaurant provides for free and you’ll need to exit from the backside into a mall.

LittleCreeper Gaming

The food and service was incredible! Loved it and the atmosphere was perfect. I highly recommend The Classic which is burger and fries. I'd go back anytime!

D Puorro

I had the salmon Benedict for brunch and my wife had eggs and bacon. Our server was pleasant and very helpful. We'll eat here again!

Esra Hamza

Excellent quality ingredients. The cheeses tasted amazing. The sauces are done so well. However the soup that I got was a bit over salted and the pizza was a bit soggy in the center. Everything still tasted so delicious. With those slight adjustments I would give 5 star. The restaurant has been running for 101 years this year.

Vanessa maraima

A very good place to eat or have a coffee, the food was excellent we ordered poutine and tuna tartar. What I liked the most was the wonderful attention of the waiter. On the next visit to Quebec City we will return without hesitation.

Mainul Islam

Very good prices for downtown quebec city and excellent food, tried the smoked meat poutine, traditional buade speciale pizza (house special) and the fish’s chip! Will recommend all three! Excellent

Tech Guy

The oldest restaurant of old Québec is a great place to try Canadian traditional food like the great variety of poudins. The service is great and fast

Roman Fishman

Terrible food. my wife ordering a steak, they brought her a thin steak which looked like a schnitzel, burnt and dry. I ordered a pizza (the pizza was rubber). children's menu rice with fish (the fish was not fried). the second child had a plate that was chipped on both sides and very sharp. I do not highly recommend this restaurant

A. Shaheen

Excellent food, friendly staff, and very knowledgeable on gluten-free options.

Gosha Belenkiy

We have ordered poutine, corn soup, and kids got grilled sausage - highly recommended!

Sam Wood

We glanced at the menu while walking down the street and were intrigued. We decided to have a late dinner and escape the snow, our server Leo treated us very well and took great care of us. Finding out that it’s the oldest cafe/restaurant in Quebec City was also a bonus. I had the club which came with fries and it was delicious!

Scarlett Coffman

I don't know what everyone else is complaining about. I had the table dhote with escargot, green salad, the chicken primavera pasta and and the Italian poutine and everything was delicious. The portions were giant (I only ate about half my main course) and the waitress even let me order off the normal dessert menu instead of the table dhote dessert because we were traveling and the table dhote dessert wouldn't travel well. Service was quick and everyone was super nice. I definitely recommend café Buade!!

sally riaa

just trying General Tao Chicken, and Spicy Chicken Wings.. not bad! love the taste ????

Allie H.

Extremely friendly service. I had come by for a quick stop after seeing the restaurant had a poutine special for happy hour and also grabbed a beer. It was a perfect break after biking & walking around the city attractions, I was able to enjoy the beer catching the sunset on the patio. My server was very welcoming speaking both French & English, attentively checking in, brought out the food very quickly and when I needed to wash up, she gave me a token for the public bathroom connected to the restaurant. Overall excellent experience for quick meal!

Carey orkusz

We stopped in for breakfast, and it was truly amazing. So many levels of flavors, great atmosphere and staff

rose b

Service was ok.Order one dish, receive a totally different dish and the waiter offers whole 10% off.Big deal I couldn't eat more than half my dish.Would not recommend this place or go back again.

Natasha Heidi Polanski

We didn't even get to try the food because the service was so slow! When I got in I noticed many other tables that hadn't even ordered yet or got their food. The waitress took so long to even take our order. Afterwards we asked the man who might have been the manager how long it would be because we had somewhere to be and he said we should have thought about that. He also said we hadn't been waiting long but it had been more than a half hour maybe 40 minutes. Very rude. I have never waited that long for a scrambled egg. Another couple who was there before us also didn't get their food and were so sick of waiting that they walked out. We did the same after the waitress said there were still 5 orders before ours. So a waste of about 50 minutes and still hungry. Very disappointed at the bad management

bluefalcon711

We had the duck poutine and it’s simply delicious. The service and the ambiance is nice as well.

Tomek Jablonski

I would think twice before going there again. The longest wait for over salted food ever.

Dawn Brown

Overpriced and underwhelming. The sharing plate for $24 had 2 sticks of what they call cheese fondu, 4 chicken wings, 4 very small pieces of garlic bread; a side of breshetta topping and ranch dressing. The order of garlic bread and cheese with the side of boulganse for $8 came out with out cheese. We sent it back and all they did was put cheese on it so we got overcooked bread. Also, only 2 pieces came with the order. Very disappointed with the quality and quantity of the food. Will not come back, ever.

Eric Spencer

Fantastic food!! Had the classic burger. So glad to have found this place after D’Orsay turned us away. Was hoping for this type of comfort food and friendly staff!!

Peter Jendrick

God was really good but waiter very unappealing. Think he maybe owner. Just not personable!!

Manuel

This place is horrible!! The food was not good! The waiter was totally unfriendly and wanted 20% tip! This was the first and last time that we ate in this location!

scott Scott

Food was superb. Duck was great. But, as I polite patron, it would be nice to get a smile back at the very least when I say please and thank you at every turn, pay good money on drinks, appetizers and meals and tip well...perhaps I should not have. If the food wasn't excellent, I wouldn't have been as generous in giving 3 stars. If the service matched, it would be an easy 5. But, she did not seem pleased, and I did not feel welcome.

Sarah Cornell

The food was great and the restaurant has a perfect location but our server Leo really made the experience memorable! He took great care of us and was very helpful and friendly

Sophie Howie

Apparently this is the oldest cafe in Quebec. I guess the food is the oldest in Quebec, too. Bad food, poor service, all around not worth it.

Steve Papineau

Horrible service. Overpriced dishes. Arrogant and disrespectful owner. The poutine was alright, but you can get an equally good poutine almost anywhere else in the city. Avoid.

Marcel St-Denis

Was a bit disappointed. They forgotten first little entrée and the my pasta didn't have any sauce what so ever. Like eating buttered pasta. Wasn't terrible but expected more.

Andrew Conk

Very nice ambiance. Food that we did receive was great! They forgot though my sons meal. Which could be due to take out being difficult for them. Not really sure what happened.

Corey Ackerson

Nancy was an awful waitress. Waited an absurd amount of time for our food. Portions were tiny and cost was outrageous. Waitress has the audacity to force a 20% tip after receiving awful service and waters being left empty for over a half hour. Would never return. Do not waste your time or money.

Tiff C

Got here about 20 min ago and still waiting to be seated. No one acknowledged us at all for the whole time. Had to approach a sever to ask for a table and she just told us to wait. Waiting for another 5 min, and finally someone acknowledged and asked us to wait again for a table.

Natalie Chambers

Unfortunately, this place was our first restaurant visit when we arrived. Once we were seated, which took a while, the waiter came over and said he would be back in five minutes to take our order. 40 minutes go by and he doesn't so much as look at us. Tried to get his attention but he just ignored us. At 50 minutes I noticed others that were seated long after us were getting their orders taken. We got up and left. As we were leaving the waiter seen us and said nothing. Worst experience in a restaurant I've ever had.

Karolina Montes

Horrible Service. My friends and I went into the bathroom and the waiter walked in on us on purpose, that was a total invasion of privacy. The food wasn't even that good. They gave is liquid Jello to drink.

Hope Dubois

This experience was terrible!!! It took over an hour and 15 minutes for food, and we were informed that our food would be cooked after a school group of 50 people after we had ordered, which our food only consisted of salad, soup, and pasta. In addition our waitress was extremely rude, (Nancy?) and told us it was REQUIRED to tip her 20% with no explanation even though we had already tipped her for the terrible experience. Do not go.

Alex Pacilan

Wait time is terrible. Food is ok bit sloppy. Very slow service.

Kevin Hodgson

I ordered "The Duck", the bun was super soggy and dripping wet. The fries were overcooked. They didn't refill the cups even once, sat there the whole meal without water. If I pay $18 plus tax for a meal, it should be a lot better. Will never go back.

Martin Moore

We came here at about 8pm, no problem with seating (4 of us). Food was excellent (Esp. the veg soup and calf liver (delish!). Service was good, price was reasonable. Only negative- dessert menu is limited, no fruit/light things. But I'd recommend it.

Serg

I have spent my time there with pleasure! Recommend to visit.

Tristan Dupuis

Had supper there on July 1st,2016 Great pasta sauce. Completely disappointed on portion size. Not your regular portion. More like a kids meal.... Caesar salad.. Not your typical salad and very oily.. friendly staff.

Jae Carter

After a couple hours freezing while touring the city we wanted a meal that would give us a taste of Quebec! We thought “wow the oldest cafe in Quebec? This will be perfect for us.” We love history and culture which did not thrive in this establishment to say the least. We were seated next to high chairs and the drink station, which in turn left us crammed during our visit. I couldn’t even put my coat on the back of my chair we were so tight. The restaurant did not have any historical decor or any sense of ambience. You would think the oldest cafe would have a buck better theme to go along with that title. Very lacking in that department. We paid outrageous prices for a small burger and 4 extremely micro size chicken tenders. ( not joking, a little bit bigger than McDonald’s chicken nuggets). The fries were decent enough to enjoy. The waitress (blonde and with glasses) never refilled our small glass on water. We requested the bill as soon as we finished eating due to the atmosphere not being homey and really not enjoying our service. The waitress brought the credit card machine over and we left an ok tip since the service was lacking and she did nothing but take our order and get a bottle of ketchup upon request. She looked at her tip as we were gathering our personal belongings and put the receipt down and began to complain about her tip was not “good enough” she pointed out that tip is not included in the meal and that we need to leave her more. We told her we already left the tip we are satisfied with leaving. She threw her hands in slightly in the air, huffed, and made a smirk as she walked away in disgust. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE. Horrible service and the waitress needs customer service training. She did not make us feel welcome to the restaurant nor did not paint a very good light on the city as first time visitors, this was our first meal in the city.

Alex Lancry

I don’t know where to start with this place. Plain and simple, the food sucks. …

William Tribe

Great spot for lunch, nice menu and they offer a lunch special, with soup of the day or pea soup or salad, daily main and tea or coffee. Today was meat ball stew, really great dish served with potato, pickled beets, tomato relish and a roll. Excellent meal on a very cold day.

Kevin Thomas

Stopped in on a snowy day not knowing what to expect. We were welcomed with excellent food and decent service. Stir fry was among the best I've had recently. Poutine looked amazing. Portions were good size.

Doug Peppers

we had a fantastic meal. the service was equal to what you have when there was only three people running the show. Four of us ordered off the specials menu and there was only one complaint, too much food. Desert and coffee included. Did it take a bit longer, yes. Did we have anyplace to be, no. It worked out. Great food, desert and coffee tossed in, fair price and then the currency discount. Go back in a heartbeat, which I plan on.

Vlad Zazheuski

I have never had such the absolute worst experience dining out. There were 9 of us , on the Sunday long weekend night, many places were full and the only one that had room was this one there. Waiting time - over an hour. We were told to expect the food in 20 -25 min( we haven’t ordered anything special- 2 portions of pork ribs, nachoes, poutine with sausage, fish and chips, etc. We waited patiently for... burnt nachoes, tough ribs with awful seasoning and the meat you physically can’t cut, unseasoned fish, etc.... totally unpalatable. We also ordered some drinks. Our bill ended up to be 290ish plus tax. When we asked the owner to check on the burnt nachoes( we decided not to complain about the rest), he said that nachoes were fine and he is not taking them off the bill, even though they were practically untouched. The way he acted is another topic of discussion, rude, angry, totally inadequate... Worst place ever, if you want to have good food, good time or good place, STAY away from this place

Made stop here with family for lunch. We all enjoyed food here. Smoked salmon was really delicious. Service was good and it did not take long to get food.

I craved a good poutine and kids needed good food. But no. This was not it. Kids spaghetti had to much cloves. It was a fight get them to eat. And I didn't want to eat it either. Poutine curds not warmed with gravy and fries burnt. Chicken (Alfredo?) with pasta spinach and bacon was ok. No "wows!"

Great meal. Especially recommend the different poutines. Escargot and Parmesan fondu were both excellent appetizers. Very comfortable atmosphere. Short staffed (like all places) but the two servers worked hard and we were in and out in a little over one hour. Prices were fair....$15 to $20 for dinner. (Table d’hote items were $20-35). Delicious ice cream!! Quebec City’s oldest restaurant, in the same spot since 1919. Casual yet classy too. Highly recommend.

Waitresses were very nice but food was just average and not worth the price. Ordered poutine and fish and chips. Took a while to come even though it wasn't busy. Chips were quite hard but not greasy and didn't taste fresh. Fish was on smaller side. Just okish.

Service was fast and easily accommodated to English for us. They do provide options of breakfast lunch or dinner at your request. The location was clean and well staffed. My big complaints are that the coffee was cold initially and at refill. If you order scrambled eggs they are from a carton, over easy however is a real egg. While I can appreciate that instant eggs are a more convenient option; if I am paying for breakfast I expect real eggs. While eating my fake eggs, I found something I couldn't identify as egg in my scrambled eggs and that shutdown my whole interest in the eggs from there on. Location is great, I feel sorry for the server as she was very pleasant and helpful and I dont hold her responsible for any of the above other than coffee.

I’ll be honest that I am usually quite persuaded by a restaurant’s online rating and if I had seen this place online prior to visiting I probably wouldn’t have planned on dining here. BUT! I am glad I didn’t make that mistake of judging a …

This is my first visit to Quebec. I do not speak French but the wait staff was kind to accommodate in English. I tried the Poutine as I was told this was a local favorite dish. I was not disappointed. Probably one of the best things I have eaten. I hope to return here again someday.
