High Prices Good Quality Drink Fancy but mid average tasting food Lower then Average Portion Fantastic Atmosphere Hit and miss customer service (its either super great or terrible) Fast WiFi! Price to quality ratio is nearly justifiable. The atmosphere is amazing and set up for: studying, working and meeting up with business partners or friends and family. If you have a few hours and want to be comfortable and productive this is the place. I think a few of their employees do not enjoy their job.. But the others are amazing people and make a good impression on you.

It was okay to me. staffs need to mandatory for deaf customers

Music is blasting way too loud (can't have calls, all conversations are way too loud) and no soy dairy free milk. Last time there was almond milk, none this time. Friendly staff, food seems nice. Not good as a place to work.

One of the best coffee shops in Waterloo. Afogattos, smoothies, cookies, and coffee are all great, albeit just a bit pricy. Recent renovations turned it into a board game cafe whilst still being a great place to work.

Excellent location and service. This place has little books to either hang out or have a quiet meeting. Nice spot.

Great location, amazing tea and coffee selection!

My new fave coffee shop

Expensive but very cool atmosphere. Coffee and food is good but not my favourite in town

Love that they serve brewed tea in bodum style carafs. They start the timer for you but you can control your own strength, and no more wimpy tea! Also tried the farmer toast - delicious!

Cool atmosphere with great decor.

Great atmosphere and coffee

Used to be much better before they switched over baked goods suppliers. Do not get their muffins as they are the worst I've ever had (dry and bland). Not sure of the atmosphere downtown as it's also a board game Cafe? Should probably just stick to one idea and go with it -the couple of times I've been in I haven't seen people using the board game side of the cafe. However, their coffee is great and their staff have been ok which boosts the rating for them. Just switch to a different baked goods supplier and they would be much better.

Great, unique coffee served among steampunk hipster vibes. The furniture is set up well for all different kinds of conversations, work, or just lounging. You can also buy their locally roasted beans.

Wonderful place for a date

Oh my! I loved this place had a butter tart and London fog tea—yumm! The atmosphere was fun and foodie/trendy. They even have a vintage VW Bug car hanging from the ceiling and loft seating. Service was a little slow considering it wasn’t very busy but the quality of food and unique menu made up for it.

It's sad to see the quality and atmosphere of the Kitchener location decline during the rebranding process.

Very accommodating staff and great coffee!

Always great service and coffee. It has become our Saturday coffee shop.

Great atmosphere and service.

Been coming a few weeks now for meetings, and it’s been very accommodating... pleasant staff... tasty drinks and food. Tonight it’s the Maverick and Matcha milkshake.

Local, friendly, great coffee, lots of space, well laid out for meeting people, central. No parking.

Rude

Good

Staff were incredible and so helpful. The ambiance was amazing and the food was... Delicious. Will definitely be back!

The new Cavan Coffee being offered at the Round Table is fantastic! Coffee connoisseurs take note.

Such amazing decor in here! I love the table nooks.

Nice coffee and pancake.

I've never had a good experience here. The last time I visited my soy milk latte curdled twice (I ghrew it out the second time, because I felt bad asking the barista to remake it). This time I got the sweet orange tea and it was undrinkably bitter within 2 minutes, plus the tea bag was hanging our the side of the cup and leaked tea all over my lap on the bus ride home. It's unfortunate because I want to love and support this local business so badly.

Great, friendly and helpful service. Really good coffee!

Friendly staff, clean and great selection of products. Loved the outside tables.

Nice little space. World class espresso as always.

Best latté in KW!

LOVE the new location! Amazing caring owners who's passion for community & coffee intertwine perfectly. They love doing new things and the are not afraid to try something next level. Congrats on the new location Rob & Nick! I look forward to many more meetings here. Side note, it's probably the most instagrammable cafe.

Best natural earl grey tea i ever tasted.

I ordered a brownie the other day and requested to hear it up. And they DON'T have a microwave!! I was told this after I made the payment. I had to eat a stone cold brownie basically.

Awesome staff and the best muffin ever! I'll be back for board games and waffles!

Friendly staff

I'd prefer hanging some lovely kitchener made bicycles from the ceiling, but that's just me. Definitely and excellent coffee spot!

Cool vibe..... Relaxing

Brand new as of last week! Keeping up the high standard of their Waterloo location, this spot has the best cappuccinos in town and delicious creative WAFFLES! Friendly staff, reasonable prices. And a beautiful space.

Atmosphere is good. Prices are hipster level for what you get, but not unreasonable if you have a decent job.

This is for their trailblazer smoothie... It's actually pretty disgusting ... It tastes like 75% thick stale peanut butter blended with 5% banana and the rest of it was just something that allowed it to pass through the Straw . Wanted to throw it out after the first sip... That drink's like 8 bucks.... My mouth had a lingering bitter taste after that ONE sip.

Great coffee shop. Nice atmosphere. Good snacks and desserts. Can be crowded and noisy at times.

Really great atmosphere, good coffee/espresso, and board game selection is wonderful! We will definitely return next time we're in town!

Recommend to try mint tea here. Nice interior design, its quiet place and good place for meet up

Beautiful coffee shop in the heart of Downtown Kitchener. The ambiance is really relaxed and the staff are super chill and friendly. The menu at the Kitchener location is much more expansive due a larger operations. There are many new coffee items that you can't get at other coffee places in KW. Highly recommend to anyone looking for some downtime.

Nice atmosphere and relaxing place to code

The coffee is delicious. But the accoustics for conversation are not great. Nice spot for working on a laptop on your own but not so much for meetings or groups.

Great coffee, service with cool atmosphere.

My $8 bagel sandwich had a hairs in it.

Coffee isn't bad but getting a shot of esspreso is expensive when adding it to a coffee

Pricey but I enjoyed the atmosphere and the drink I had was delicious!

Trendy spot very close to Communitech in Kitchener. Extensive specialty coffee selection including a fabulous cold brew. Even have a few beers. Lattes are a bit small and chairs aren't that comfortable for long stays.

Toast: ???? Waffles: ???? Coffee: meh

Good atmosphere. Nice and bright space. Good coffee.

Really nice people and a trendy place to get some great coffee and food!

Best tasting espresso ???? very friendly staff and awesome atmosphere.

Super overpriced

I've been here a number of times in the early morning (8AM) on a Sunday where the shop is not open. I guess the hipster millennials who run the place like to decide when they want to open the store on Sundays as opposed to actually adhering to the posted hours. If you're looking for a coffee on Sunday morning don't plan on going here.

I've been to this specific location a number of and really love the atmosphere, it's pretty unique! The coffee is great, and pricing is on par with most other places in the area. It's been great to bring new clients here, especially since most are new to the area and have never been, however we haven't always had the most memorable experience with the staff. They just don't seem very excited about serving customers. We recently had one of our staff meet up with new clients and she was told she would have to pay $5 for a sitting fee because her bill wasn't $10, so her $4 tea quickly became $9. Ouch. I understand the need to turn over tables quickly, but isn't that the reason the tea is $4 and the coffee can be $5+, to cover some of those costs? I'm sure we'll drop in once in awhile, but I can't see us meeting clients here anymore.

Food and coffee are ok,staff could be more friendly, I found the visit a bit cold....

Very rude staff

Overpriced, but enjoyable food.

They don't have as many outlets here as compared to their Waterloo location. I really like the setup though, great layout and atmosphere, friendly staff and good food and drink options. EDIT: The wifi is slow/spotty/doesn't work half the time :(

Amazing interior design.. friendly staff.. decent tasting coffee!! What else can you wish for.. I visit this coffee place a few times a month.. I haven't tried their other location in Waterloo but people who tried it recommend this place hands down. Cafe has two levels.. most people forget that.. they have amazing sitting booth if you're with friends too. Whenever you're at the cafe.. ask for wifi password.. and can make a witty joke on it (as password itself is so innocent) I would highly recommend this place to anyone in KW or visiting KW. 5*

Want a Triple Red Eye, like Sam Winchester? Go here!! ????

Good coffee and I really like the atmosphere. Seating is a little strange with the majority of tables for 6.

Great place, very friendly service and a cool tea selection. The bagel sandwiches look and taste very fresh. The bench seats are very comfortable and great to get some work done. They're at the heart of Kitchener, the new LRT and bus stops are 10 steps out the door.

Good coffee, good list of food and a nice central location. I've found the seating options to be clinical and uncomfortable. It's not set up for people who want to stay for very long because of the uncomfortable seating, but this could also be done on purpose as it's a pulsed area and it's a popular place. Parking can be limited downtown within walking distance thigh the Ion train has a stop nearby, if your train isn't hit on the way in.

Love this place. I walked by for so long and never went in and I regret it. Staff were friendly, the atmosphere was calm and chill and quiet. Had a super delicious mochaccino, and one of their giant cookies, and it was delicious.

Great coffee

The atmosphere is great, large comfy tables for having a conversation with friends I felt for the staff, as over 80% of the menu was unavailable due to a huge lack of supplies to make anything

First time - good coffee

Nice looking place. A little cramped

Staff are incredibly friendly, and the coffee is delicious and they have quite the selection of different coffee beans you can purchase and they grind the beans for you in the store.

Incredibly unique atmosphere and experience!!! Very bright, hipster, natural feel. Lots of art from locals. The food selection is quite odd (mainly a cafe with some odds and ends), and each dish has a unique spin on it. The food is amazing however! The upstairs loft is great to look out at the intersection of King and Victoria with a perfect view. Inside as well it's nice to just sit with a beverage and look at the unique decor.

Great staff!

Always great

Great Coffee, great staff!

Great place to sit and watch the world go by. Very cool art and decoration. When you order a french press coffee they give you a little sand-timer so ou know when it's ready. Love the details ~

Really cute place. Dem flat whites are divineee.

Trendy place with lots of cut things going on

Great coffee, amazing waffles, awesome toast and a cool spot to hang out and play a board game. Nice renovation.

Good coffee. Nice staff. Great detailing. Combined with games cafe Round Table in spring 2019 to create a high end nerd haven.

Nice atmosphere. Decent iced coffee but was originally looking for a cold brew. Was told that they were "out" and had to get more from the "factory."

It was okay - interesting design, but not my cup of tea.

Great coffee, drinks, food and atmosphere. Amazing design and decor throughout. I love the booths and loft area if you're looking for a little more privacy. Definitely a coffee shop worth visiting!

Always great service. Staff are unreal always no what I like, sometimes even before I order. Great food too!!!

Cozy and trendy place to get a good cup of coffee and a tasty snack.

Nice space, nice vibe, and friendly staff. Prices can be a bit eh for some of the baked goods or food options in general, but the tea and coffee selection is probably what you came for. Something interesting is that they have cream made there themselves, though it's ultimately not amazing or anything...

Good food but bitter coffee.

Great coffee (much better than the place in communitech) with a really nice decor. If you enjoy coffee then Settlement is the place to go in Kitchener.

Nice place to spend the afternoon at. 5 star for food and drink; 3 star for service.

Nice strong espresso, just how I like it!

WiFi password is "iloveyou"

The steampunk vibe made my insides smile!

I'm not a huge fan of the name of this place, but I appreciate the artsy design, extra seating upstairs, and fair trade options.

Quite happy that I made a second attempt at this place. They really care about the details of the things they do here. Meticulously designed aesthetic with a really cool suspended exploded Volkswagen suspended from the ceiling. They have a second floor meeting/eating space with a HD TV which we used for a workshop to teach people how to host their own websites for free and the space was perfectly accommodating. The food was delicious, fresh, and well done. True artisans.

Good spot, but the music is always so loud!

The second locaton is amazing! Tons of seating including a loft area. Same coffee and food as the Uptown Waterloo with the addition of waffles!

Amazing design and best flat white in town!

Friendly, quick service.

It's insanely overpriced and the service isn't great...

Same great taste, and quality that made the first store so succesful! Also great staff and great location! Great spot to do work too!

It's a really cute board game cafe, the drinks are about mid teir in price and are really good we'll, at least the mocha with hazelnut is, that's all I usually get, The staff is really nice, they do have open seating, the busyness depends what day you go, as some days it is mostly empty and others there can be quite a few people

New firewall for their WiFi is kind of aggressive. I couldn't write a good review on yelp as it was blocked.

Lovely space to be love their filter coffee :)

Up

Great café with very cool steam punk atmosphere!

Cool vibe but very busy place. The coffee was just okay, not the best I've had. Difficult to find seating. The food looks excellent though.

Iced tea isn't cold water plus an afterthought of a tea bag. Also a chai latte shouldn't be weak and soapy. The coffee was decent though, and I liked the bagels reasonably much.

Coffee is good. Free WiFi, just ask for password. There is additional seating upstairs if downstairs is full.

Very cozy and modern with great food and bevvies

Cute coffee shop

Went in for a coffee and paid just over $3.50 for a large and it was stale and luke warm. It was a huge disappointment. For the price I paid I expected better.

Beautiful place. Delicious coffee, staff is nice and rarely any line ups.

My chai latte was served luke warm to cool. My sandwich had napkin stuck to the bottom of it that could not come off. The service seemed very underwhelming.

I like the plants in the cafe. I had this coffee milkshake, OH EM GEE. Soooo good.

Ambiance is nicer than the Uptown location. Had the fruit tea as it is my go to. They didn't let it steep long enough so be sure to give yourself 10 minutes to steep, not 3 like the timer indicates. Not a coffee guy but my colleagues all say the selection is high quality.

Don’t waste your time or money. $5 cover fee if you don’t spend more than $10 on product. What a joke! Drinks came luke warm, and without flavour. Literally just steamed milk. The platform is there to be a hit place, but poor choices and lack of quality

Great atmosphere and coffee!

The view and interior design is good while it's chill and clean here. Waffle was good here but for this time my flat white tasted more like latte and milk foam was a bit rough. The staff here seems too tired to great me and said nothing through the time I was ordering. When I returned the plates to her, the staff was playing with her phone and took a glance at me without a word. I understand working for lunch bf hours can be tiring but it's always good to be professional.

Incredible staff and the perfect menu. You'll want to go every day. #StarbucksWHO

Good vibe and friendly staff!

I went during the day before the board games, but enjoyed the food and atmosphere. :) Maybe a little pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

My first experience of Settlement Co was the Waterloo location, which was great. Super friendly staff, coffee was great. I decided to try the Kitchener location, not the same experience. Coffee was fine, the person taking my order was rude in answering simple questions and clearly didn't care my wife and I were there. Maybe she was having a bad day, however we won't be back. There are plenty of other great shops with coffee just as good and much more welcoming staff.

Amazing drinks and service!

Can't rate too highly as I haven't had a proper experience yet, but I've visited the Round Table twice to use their facilities and the staff have been super nice. Ordered some food today and it was also delicious! I would definitely recommend this Fantasy Inn for your band of adventurers!

Great beverages and goodies

My son and I were there today. 2018.01.11 We had 2 Macchiatos. They were excellent. We sat at the bar. I had a few words with the barrista. She didn't seem to want engage in too much conversation. I know this isn't Intelligentsia but I do expect some interaction from the help. Some coffee bean talk maybe. Next thing I see is her holding hands with the boyfriend right beside me! Not really what I need to see at a higher end Café.

Legendary products and legendary service.

Good coffee, popular, set up as a meeting and work space, hip, tech, trendy geek.

Great breakfast sandwiches, nice cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and good music selection

Really enjoyed the cold brewed coffee on tap. The ambiance was nice and there is an exploded VW Bug hanging from the ceiling.

Their interior design is amazing

Nice and creative place

We asked for French press to share and the coffee was great! I saw some croissants on the display, but they didn’t look so good. They charge for playing games (10$ per person, you can play otherwise you should pay 5$ per person). However, as far as I could see it, they have great games, the classic ones, like Catan, Agricola, Exploding Kittens, etc...

The perfect addition to downtown at the perfect time! This city was made for more than one settlement Co. Now I can get coffee in kitchener and a second in waterloo!

Settlement has quite a bit to learn about the social effects of their interactions with indigenous people. Not only did they pick the most colonial name they could, they've been disrespectful and dismissive when engaged by locals about their name and their resistance to posting a land acknowledgement. Until their attitude or leadership changes, I'll be taking my (pretty frequent) business elsewhere, and continuing to explain to colleagues and friends why I refuse to hold meetings at their locations.

Cold brew on tap! Plus brilliant service.

French press coffee the way it should be

A small walk from the Tannery - the coffee shop to visit when you are meeting with one of the numerous tech companies in the area. A great selection of different coffees and teas as well as light sandwiches and yummy snacks.

Friendly staff and amazing coffee. 100% recommend giving a shot!

Settlement has rebranded! It’s now RoundTable powered by Settlement Co. Same place, new look! AND THEY HAVE BOARDGAMES!

Not a fan of the name or the occupation.

Nice place to hang out and have a refreshing coffee

Pretty chill place to hang out. Great waffles. Can be busy and lack power outlets on the top floor. They lose a mark for their smoothies and are sometimes out of things on the menu.

I would live here if it was appropriate!

Nice hipster vibe, great lattes

Great coffee and creative food menu that's not too big. Good for small meetings in the heart of Kitchener's tech hub.

So hip and trendy.

Great service and friendly. Coffee is decent and will definitely help to get your work going.

Wish there was more water in tea pot for $4

I usually love coming here for a nice coffee, their Americanos are very good, and their lattes with soy milk are also delicious. However, when it comes to food, in the last 6-7 months or so, they have been lacking. Not so fresh, always running out of things, waffles are watery etc. I wouldn’t say this if I didn’t come in on a Monday morning at 10am to hear they still hadn’t gotten any of their food shipments, and the avocados were in the freezer. It’s very hit or miss with the staff, there’s a couple employees I usually love to chat with, but one that is usually pretty miserable and on her phone all the time. At 10am on Monday morning you should have taken your avocados out of the freezer, which I think is pretty unprofessional to tell customers to begin with.. Will always enjoy a coffee but a little hesistent to enjoy the food now considering how expensive they are for what you get.

My favorite java!

Visited on a Friday afternoon when the shop was not too busy. This coffee shop has a large selection of board games to play on the large tables spaced around the coffee shop. Ordering food and drink over $10 allows you to play the games for free. I was served efficiently, ordering a large coffee, a toasted sandwich and croissant. The coffee was good and pretty reasonably priced, the toasted sandwich was well filled with a variety of ingredients, a little expensive, but there was a combo deal and as a quick lunch I didn't find the prices that high. The croissant, I'd had better, it was fine, nothing to write home about. Internet connection was good.

Great ambiance, great coffee, lovely staff! Going back sometime soon

Good coffee

Excellent coffee. Good atmosphere.

Cozy beautiful place

I can't complain about the food nor the coffee. But the staff (not friendly and not receptive, seems like they don't want to be there), and the wait to get your order (I waited 25 min for a sandwich and and iced coffee) are too much for me.

Gorgeous place for coffee and resting.

Ordered a sandwich which was made in a respectable time and tasted good. On the down side, the price was very, very high for a sandwich of that size and the staff seemed less than pleased to be there.

VERY slow service. Should hire competent employees instead of young pretentious looking hipsters.

I find the designing of the decor stellar. An awesome use of the space and dimensions. The food presentation is upper crust, and the quality of the food does not disappoint.

Enjoyable place!

My favorite place to read, our catch up on work. I love that I can get a coffee, then a beer right after.

The first time ever coming here before my appointment. My first impression was that it is a nice hangout, quite comfortable, and it had nice little private nooks where you can sit quietly by a window and watch traffic on the corner or King and Victoria while you drink your preferred beverage. I found the price for baked goods a little steep but the artisan coffees seem reasonable. There is also the option of adding Bailey's liqueur to your coffee but not until after 11. The staff is wonderful. I found the chats/interactions with the cash and barista comfortable and natural - not at all pretentious and awkward. Warm and friendly atmosphere. I am most definitely coming back! Loved, loved, loved it! Highly recommend this place especially if you have time to sit down and enjoy the place. The decor is very in and they also had a second floor with tables for bigger groups. The bathrooms were clean which is a huge plus for me. Check this place out, you will love it.

Great place reasonable fast.

Great Coffee place. Visited a lot this summer and really enjoyed their waffles. Best waffles I've ever had (am serious about it, have had a lot of different waffles but these were just something great). Really liked the cranapple tea as well

Nice atmosphere, great specialty espresso coffee

Good coffee

Coffee is just ok, but the service is consistently horrible. I live in the condo above this place and the few times I have been there, the ladies working in evenings have zero customer service skills. The most recent time she did not even look at me the entire time I made and received my order because she was talking to her friend sitting at the bar area the entire time, WHILE i was making my order. She then slid my coffee towards my direction while still talking to her friend.. I could not believe it.

Good food and great coffee but the manager working had earbuds in the whole time and when we went up to order because she didnt come to us after waiting almost 45 minutes she told us to go sit down. So we did and she literally came over repeated what we had asked for at the till and walked away.

Really awesome atmosphere, but the customer service frequently diminishes the appeal of the cafe. Not necessarily looking for a full conversation, but a smile or "hello" would be appreciated.

Excellent coffee and atmosphere

Everything is great, but bad wifi service, considering that I go there to get work done.

Found a lady she is cute. A cross the table she wear glasses.

Great location, lots of space and many options for drinks. Only downside is that it is a bit pricey

Amazing coffee. Try a pour over.

Overpriced and overhyped in my opinion for rather average coffee. Not a fan of their steampunk either. Regardless of price, I prefer Tim's or Williams to this, but of course, tastes vary. The location is nice though, but the wifi doesn't work.

Good place to hang out and study. Stayed for 3 hours with just a coffee and a sandwich, and didn't get kicked out.

Nice atmosphere, good coffee, larger menu than I would have expected.

Nice environment and great coffee. Try the cold brew or the steam punk pour over. Employees are really friendly and environment is pretty laid back

Cool place! Great coffee! Very friendly staff! Decent selection of snacks as well. Parking is a bit of a pain bit do able!

Really cool vibe and unique drinks and good items.

Good coffee, good food. Lots of seating!

Good food, good coffee, nice atmosphere and friendly staff

Drinks are quite over priced for what they are. The atmosphere is chill though- it's almost too chill though. It was pretty quiet while I was thete. It felt awkward to speak with my friend because not many folks were speaking.

I was really excited to come here but it was pretty sad. The barista was busy talking to a random girl for like 5 mins while we waited at the cash to make our order. Then when he brought my coffee, he made fun of people who take pictures of coffee ... Uhhhhhh dude you work in a coffee shop why would you say that?? ???????? I wasn't actually offended, I just thought it was strange. I didn't really vibe with their coffee unfortunately. It is really pretty in here tho.

Cool place to take a break from the bustle of the city.

Had the worst coffee here. It was watery, no flavour, and lots of coffee grounds in the cup. For 4 dollars I could have pissed something more flavourful. Balzac's is a 2 second walk from these ametures, and the same price.

I really like the atmosphere here. Came to this place once to eat a quick bite. Their coffee is ok. I just like to study there and spend time with my friends. They also have some snacks. Will definitely visit this place again soon.

Nice spot to study and enjoy a cup of warm drink

Coffee is weirdly acidic, prices are kinda high. Atmosphere is great for studying but bring your own food

If you've visited the Round Table Waterloo or Guelph locations you'll be sorely disappointed in the kitchener location. It doesn't have the atmosphere nor large variety of games as the other locations. They have Catan, Ticket to Ride, Risk and practically nothing else. If you want a board game cafe experience, there are vastly better places to visit.

Steam punk cafe with good snacks

Vagabond is hands down the best coffee. Also their waffles are great! The service is good, and the interior is very unique!

Good coffee, cool place.

Came back for a second try because my favourite place was busy. My espresso was a little better, but I was still not impressed. The space is cool and it seems like a nice place to sit and work for a bit. The coffee is okay, but overpriced for what it is. The staff were also cold and a bit rude this time around. You're better off going down the street to Smile Tiger.

A very eclectic coffee shop in Downtown Kitchener. Great music, vibes and coffee with a wide range of sweets and food items. Service can be a little slow at times, but their coffee does not disappoint! Extremely glad they added this second location.

Had one of the toast options and it was pretty good! A little on the expensive side, but not bad overall.

Atmosphere was nice and game variety was good. Seemed like it would be a cool place to grab a warm drink and work on school or work. The person working was very nice so I don’t want to shoot the messenger so most of this is directed at whoever manages the website or stocks the kitchen. Calling this a Tavern seems a bit of a stretch. From their online menu the following items were unavailable: all draft beer and ciders, all listed mixed drinks, all wraps and sandwiches. From their posted in person menu the following was not able to be made because of missing ingredients, broken appliances and stock: all waffles, all bottled beer, ice to make specialty coffees, all desserts. It’s a good thing I went with people I like or the night would have been a disaster. It will take a lot to get me to try again. If you want a place for friends to meet for dinner drinks and games I’d look elsewhere.

My favourite coffee shop in the Waterloo Region. Great people and even better coffee!
