REVIEWS OF Smile Tiger Coffee Roasters IN Kitchener

Dee Dee

I love their service, the ambience & my Americano was perfect ????

Kinjal P

Such great coffee and love their sweets! They have very safe COVID protocols in place and the staff are always friendly and helpful. One of my favourite coffee spots in KW.

Noah Feaver

Great atmosphere. Great coffee. Great toasts with things on them... What more could you want? Try sourdough with ricotta and olive oil... Boom

Janine Thoma

Smile Tiger Coffee Roasters offers really interesting seasonal drinks. I had the maple cappuccino in the fall, and recently tried the egg nog latte and peppermint latte in the colder weather. Both were very tasty and had that quality taste you'd expect from a coffee shop like this. It's located next to the GO train station so it's a great place to get some work done while you wait. If you're waiting for an arrival it's also convenient.

Tanya Weissenboeck

Great coffee & baked goods...love the atmosphere!

Cameron McCarten

It's OK.. I wish it was a little more unique. The coffee is good and the atmosphere much brighter than dvlb, but you still get the eerie feeling it's the same place. The small batch coffee roasts taste marvelous, but are really overpriced considering the fact that you buy direct from the roster...

Jen Wilson

I ordered bags of coffee for local delivery this year for Christmas gifts for clients. Their coffee is great and so is their customer service. It's unlikely you'll run in to any issues, but if you ever do the Smile Tiger Team will take care of them no questions asked.

Steve

Very tasty desserts and perfect location by Via Rail!

Zhanel M.

Great coffee! Great service! Delicious take home coffee beans for at home brewing

Melanie Aird

Amazing coffee shop!! Used to do my school work here. Definitely recommend it

Suzanne Borghese

I come here to get my daily dose of their ever evolving espresso! Everyone is always happy to answer questions about coffee and they have created a really inviting, lovely atmosphere for hanging out and enjoying a moment in your day. Definitely come and check it out!

Aditi Satkunarajah

One of the best coffee places in KW, been many times and always happy with my drinks. Only complaint is that the GF treats are not celiac safe.

Fabiana Alves-Tapp

Their coffee, their latte, their cappuccino... yummy! Did I mention their cappuccino? Oh man, we also had their date square, their Nanaimo, lemon bars and their scones... oh their scones!!! (Yes, we could not make up our mind so we took them home and yes, I had help eating all that... not that I wanted or needed, but mom taught me to share). So worth going back. And let me say that what a charming place. I hope you get as surprised as I did.

Sam Hossack

Amazing made to order coffees and drinks. Baked goods are spectacular. Has really good drip coffee beans for your every day brewer or French Press. My only criticism is their espresso beans are not as fresh as other roasters. As they roast, package and deliver to other franchises beans can go dry and lose flavor. Still an awesome place though with a great atmosphere inside!

cam crawford

Had a friend send me a bag of beans to try, Nightmare Hippy Girl, and it will be my main coffee going forward. It's absolutely amazing and always fresh. Have already placed my second order. Have tried one other that is no longer on the site but it was equally as good. Looking forward to trying the Black Tambourine. Also, customer service has been excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Ryan Carson

Love this place. Coffee is great. They have non dairy options for coffee which are super tasty. Not so much for vegan eats tho... always pretty quick and polite staff.

Victoria T

This was a great experience. The decor is perfect, the seating is comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the coffee is amazing. In fact, it's the best coffee I've ever had.

Colleen Sargeant James

Nice coffee and Bagels

Alicia J McGill

Croissant was fluffy, Cappuccino was delish and beautiful, and price was decent for the quality! IG: @eatyourfeelingsonabudget

Josiah Rock

Very nice atmosphere, as well as having super friendly staff! It's a great place to go if you're ever waiting for your train, as it's right beside the go station. I would highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Kitchener!

Laura Klaver

Awesome spot! With remarkable service and atmosphere. The coffee is great and there are a lot of vegan options -Morning Glory muffin is definitely a glory-!

Best Coffee in the area

Hannah

Really customized for a family relaxed time with friends. A great place to grab a bite either before or after riding the train.

Paul Moyer

This is an excellent coffee shop. Variety of drinks is good. They taste good too. There isn't much to eat, though. Only small cakes and muffins, and daily soup/snacks. The atmosphere is relaxing and perfect for an evening hang out. The furniture and decorations are nice. The only drawback in my opinion is that there is no power outlet. So I can't go there and work. If you have a good laptop, go for it!

Andre Wunjo

Always the best. Such an excellent local spot with everything you need: delish coffee, fresh soups, and deep-thick cut sourdough bread. No really: HAVE THE BREAD.

Ryan Hickey

One of the best places to have a fantastic cup of coffee in KW area. They offer a nice selection of coffee types and bakery options. Seating area is spacious, cozy and beautiful. The parking is enough.

Ken Buchanan

Very nice place!! Great atmosphere!!!! Very friendly staff!!! Love the coffee!!! ????

Dangerously Cheesey

One of the best coffee shops in town. Lots of seating and wonderful naturally lit space but low on plugs make sure you're laptop is fully charged before going to do work.

Courtney Cassel

Little pricy but a good spot to hang out. Loved their Chai latte and the carrot cake was awesome!!

Marilyn Temple

I absolutely love this coffee! I got a bag of Ethiopian light roast today, which is in season, and after 2 brews I got the grind size just right (for pour over). It is incredibly well sourced, and good quality coffee! Also because of how fresh it was, the bloom was great, and satisfying to watch. I will definitely order again, this is my new go-to! :D

B Inthavong

One of those places that make you realize how terrible the coffee from the large chains really is. Went here this time because we ordered Tim's coffee that ended up tasting like three day old leftovers and needed proper coffee to cleanse our souls. Very good, terrible parking but that's not really their fault. Great place to stop and buy some beans to bring home.

Manan Anand

We have been going here since last summer always great coffee it's one of our to go places every weekend. Service is always great thank you

Chad Seip

Addictive coffee and a great atmosphere

Nikki Germain

Coffee is good. Baristas are very friendly. The atmosphere inside is very hip, comfy, and spacious. When we dropped in, it was a bit rainy outdoors, so the seating was a bit crowded before we settled in. Overall, a great place to enjoy a quality pulled beverage.

Saad Alam

My favourite coffee shop in the city. Not only does everything taste amazing but you literally can not beat how amazing their staff are. For example: I havnt been a “regular” for over a year, now I go once a week if I can (too busy.) My friend stopped there to get me a drink but I forgot to text her my order and wasn’t responding to my phone because I was at work. My friend knows I love it there so she literally showed them a picture of me as a last resort and these crazy amazing baristas respond “Oh! Of course! We know her!” And make my order spot on. Where else can you get service like that ?!

Gayle First

Wonderful Brew,

Jordan Parker

I personally didn't get anything but from what my wife and kids got and told me, they'd certainly go back again. My wife enjoyed the coffee and the kids got a hot chocolate each. The barista even made the fancy design on the hot chocolate for the kids. They are more expensive than the quick-service chains but the additional cost is worth the experience you and beverage receives. They're open really early for the GO Train crowd (which is why we were there). The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. This slightly out-of-the-way establishment is worth the stop.

Brittany Nolan

Good place to come in from the cold and grab a decaf espresso. They dont seem to serve regular decaf coffee though. Also the staff isnt super friendly but thats fine.

Andrea Sharpe

Best place in town for scones and London fogs!

George Kokai

Wonderful atmosphere, and great coffee! Lots of good seating options, just be aware, not many plugs for chargers if you're looking to work there for a period of time.

Liam Oswald

Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent coffee. There are also two patios, one with shade and one without. It’s an absolute must go if you are in the area.

sparkyfuzzy

Lets start with the pros, the atmosphere is great. Coffee was burnt, and tasted realy bad. You could taste burnt flavour. I do not think the new barista knows what he was doing. The service was not good either. I ended up cleaning my table myself.

mahesh wani

A very friendly and cozy place to be in. Good spot for meetups and hanging out.

Kyla Arsenault

Nice selection of pastries and the coffee was great

Delaney Swanson

Awesome atmosphere. Great customer service.

Brian Blake

Good quality coffee, nice atmosphere. Baristas were knowledgeable. Followed covid protocols well.

Hesed Lagud

We ordered a Mocha and matcha latte (both with oat milk) and it was absolutely delicious! It’s been about 3 months since I drank coffee and I really wanted to pick a good place . I am so glad my husband got Me here which uplifted my mood ! We also got a fresh hummus toast for our toddler and he ate it without any hesitation.

Daniel R.

Another good coffee addition for Downtown. Though the coffee is good and the atmosphere is nice, the service definitely needs improvement. Baristas should make an effort to reflect the name of the cafe and "smile" once and awhile. I get it - you take your coffee really seriously, but try to be more friendly to your customers and tone down the hipster pretentiousness. Don't forget Balzacs and Matter of Taste are not that far away - both of which a great reputation for good coffee and outstanding service.

Benjamin Kappheim

Relaxed vibe, cool furniture. Not too crowded. Not really somewhere to eat so just have people meeting and drinking coffee. The parking is only for 15 mins or an hour though.

Adam McMahon

Staff is awesome. Triple americano to DIE for! Scones are good too. Atmosphere and location A+ by the train station. Parking is a bit small but easily forgiven ;)

Dmitry Skakovski

Great but expensive coffee. The "texas toasts" they offer are surprisingly reasonably priced and really good (I think they use Golden Hearth bread). There is only one outlet, right by the end of the bar.

Dan Proulx

Great Cafe! Very decent menu and reasonably priced!

Heidi Gottwald

Delicious coffee, decent baked goods, and friendly staff. Nice little patio but would be nice to have umbrellas out there. The interior is super cool looking. Love the neon sign!

Steve Martin

Just because this coffee shop is beside the train station doesn't mean you have to be a traveler to enjoy its offerings. A wide variety of fresh coffee flavours and some tempting edibles make this a most worthwhile stop.

Marta Borowska

Good vibes and location for a coffee shop. They have almond and oat milk plant based options for coffee. There is also a vegan food item on the menu. Some seating inside and outside right now. The coffees are quite small and a bit expensive …

Emmanuel Patterson

Great coffee, and great ambiance. Parking is a bit challenging at times.

Darren McDermott

Great little hole in the wall café, loved the décor. Has couches and chairs faced inwards in the middle of the dining area to create a great "around the campfire" motif. Not a lot of seating, but a much more reliable place to grab coffee with others on a weekend than other places. Being next to the Go Station, its an ideal oasis to meditatively wake up before the commute to work or other travels.

Josh Barber

Super nice staff, nice indoor and outdoor sitting, and very good latte! Highly recommended for work or study :)

Lucy Chai

Nice atmosphere, a little pricey/small coffee portions and only one table with an outlet.

Neman Syed

Wonderful coffee shop alongside the VIA rail/GO station. Service is always quick and they are sure to ask if the 4 minute steep time is okay when you order tea (in case you need to catch a train!). It can get a bit loud on weekends but is an excellent study space. Four taps also makes it a great low-key social space

Sebastien Lauzon

Such a great vibe! I wish there was more parking in the area...but I guess that's the price you pay to be close to the train station. Its always cool to find hidden gems like this! Highly recommend

Stefan Chirila

Love this coffee shop!! I love the atmosphere, the location and especially the coffee ????. I frequently visit, when I have time. Definitely would drive out of my way to grab a quick cup of coffee or to spend the afternoon doing some book work. One other thing to note, whenever I visit the staff is always very friendly and easily put a smile on my face????. Thanks for a great experience Smile Tiger.

Jessica Crompton

Very nice atmosphere and great friendly staff. Maggie was an upstanding service person. Definitely coming back. ????

Abhishek Reddy

Fantastic coffee and delicious treats! I love their lattes and they offer milk alternatives! Such a beautiful interior, I cannot wait until we can enjoy dining and studying at cafes again!

Jordan

Amazing coffee and great, helpful, friendly staff :) The take home bags of beans are also delicious!

Jennifer Boergers

Really good coffee and a really cool space.

Charles Mire

Very good coffee and customer service. Food wasnt anything to write home about though. Had German salad.

Tyler Pamer

Had a lovely tea and blueberry crumble square. Perfect place for train travelers!

Arpita Sharma

This is a great coffee shop hidden right beside the VIA station. They have a small parking lot with mostly 15 minute only spots. Each time I go I get their oatmilk flat white. It’s the best because they use Minor Figures Oatmilk. There is an extra charge for it but it’s worth it. They also sell baked goods to go along with their beverages. They are licensed as well. Great spot, check them out.

Dustin O'Connor

Really unique place right by the Go Station to visit before you hop on to the train. They have a nice pour time for their coffee and their lattes are yummy. The ambiance in the place is magical. Only issue, it isn't set for you to work long term if you bring your car. Parking is only for a grab and go.

Kevin Schmalz

Nice little spot.

Kahlyn Pronk

I frequent this place often for work and for personal with my husband. Amazing coffee, great vibe, and love that they roast their own beans. Parking can be challenging since it’s a very small lot, and the customer service has been spotty. Some days the employees behind the counter are friendly and helpful, and then other days when it’s different employees they are unfriendly and unhelpful. Products and selections are great, but the experience is sometimes less than stellar.

Christopher Bogdon

Nicely refurbished old building converted to a cozy cool coffee place with good variety of drinks and snacks ...and beer on tap after 11????

Rebecca Kauk Miller

Excellent community coffee shop. Their pour-over style coffee really can't be beat — and is really worth it. Atmosphere is great; bright with lots of seating. Would like to see an expanded food menu.

Rajiv Chattopadhyay

Fantastic place to sit down for a meeting or to get some work done. They have wall outlets and outlets in the floors under the central tables.

Ross Ireland

Can't wait for covid to go away so I can spend time drinking coffees here.

June Macdonald

Great coffee! Chill vibes ????

Dan Tran

The atmosphere here is very relaxing. They have delicious peanut butter brownies and one of the best Vanilla Lattes I've ever had!!

Mathew Gallagher

Great Vibe, fantastic coffee. The perfect place to have a coffee date with a friend, your spouse or just come on your own for some much needed alone time.

Dave Klassen

Probably one of the best coffee shops I've been to. Great staff. Simple menu. Interior decor is on point.

Chad Quigley

Best choice in town, no joke. Gibraltar if you don't know what else to get and if they have any left, get a croissant as well. Done of the loveliest staff you'll find around as well. Also worth noting is they have white and red wine as well as a small selection of beers available. For the hungry they have some soup and plenty variations of toast. Enjoy!

Vedran Hasanagic

Great coffee, but I don’t know why on earth they insist on using oat milk from the UK when we produce excellent oat milk in Canada.

Jessica Paige

Pricey, organic neet little Shop. Nice it's beside the train station

Maxwell Seward

Their Flat White is amazing! Very friendly staff!

Caroline Topperman

Super friendly staff. Loved their mocha and matcha latte. Spacious ambience. Recommend this place.

Phil Cave

Excellent coffee. Bought a pound to take home..... They were happy to hear I didn't want it ground... I was happy they cared.

Daniel Moholia

Great coffee, nice staff, fantastic atmosphere.

K. G.

A little downtown kitchen secret. Always busy. Such good creative choices. Staff are great. You need to try it!! Peanut butter Tarts and blackberry tea are so tasty. Such a nice little spot!!

Jeremy Dickson

Great place the baristas know what they are doing. The atmosphere is amazing very inspiring, however the music could come down a notch or be moved to better fill the room without being loud in one spot above the counter. Good coffee, roasted a little darker then I expected. The scone was dry but perfect with butter.

Ladislav Hudec

awesome work space, great vibes and drinks!

Chris C

Great coffee and a beautiful shop. The baristas are all super friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for your coffee date, paper-writing grind, or just looking a nice spot to chill on a patio.

Octavian Ciubotariu

We really loved the coffee and desserts. The patios are amazing and the staff are super friendly.

Rachael M

Best cafe in KW. Beautiful decor, beautiful drinks. The toast was 10/10 incredible. So simple and yet perfect.

Jimmy Lad

Really lovely space. Bright, spacious and very stylish. Good Toast and scones. Great coffee. Some outlets but not many for laptop work. Also conveniently close to the Via Rail Station. There isn't much parking.

Sasa Cvetkovic

Good espresso, nice atmosphere, no rush - lots of comfortable sitting space for single or groups, the best washrooms ever. Ordered espresso and lemon cranberry scone - my favourite.

Ben Scheifele

Went there yesterday and there were about a dozen people sitting in without a face mask, but when I got to the counter, one of the women said I had to wear a face mask or they couldn't take my order, so I didn't order anything and left. That was fine with me, the prices in there are so ridiculously high and the service is a joke, the women working there should try to learn something that they can be good at

Reiner Strenzke

Great coffee, nice vibe, friendly staff... Excellent place to get work done and get inspired. One drawback is that there are few electrical outlets for charging your devices.

Emmanuel Filippakis

Great service and quick. Love the atmosphere. Has a patio to sit on.

Tracey McKillop

Coffee was good but not truly excellent. Pour over was slightly watery and the espresso didn't have enough bite. Will definitely come again though.

Ray Frumalorra

These guys have a huge advantage over other KW businesses... they are open Sundays! I used to take guitar lessons in this building ages ago, so it does my heart good to see it being refurbished, and I am happy a nice cafe has gone in here. Much needed in the KW area ~

Randall Culp

Smile Tiger is my favourite coffee shop in KW. The drinks are made well and the staff are super-friendly and will make you feel welcomed. The only downsides are that the drinks are a little pricey and sometimes it gets very busy, so you might not find a seat. Even with these drawbacks, I love this place.

Matt V

Service

Able Android

Good coffee. Friendly service.

Tyler Mokren

Very good coffee and a great atmosphere. Found the music a little loud, so everyone had to raise their voice, which made it even louder....nonetheless, a vibrant, hip coffee shop! Worth checking out!!

Erin Powell

Great spot for a cup of Joe. Good quality coffee, decent price and a friendly atmosphere. Will keep coming back.

Tara Kachroo

This coffee shop has a very casual and pleasant atmosphere and as a bonus offers delicious coffee!

Fani H

Where I always get my coffee beans. Friendly staff. Love the atmosphere of the store.

Peter Goldsworthy

Loved it. But pricey

Jen Christie

Smile tiger is a wonderful place. The staff is legendary and the London fog is the best in town

Max Park

Melica Mirsafian

Awesome place for coffee, lattes and more. Maybe not great for big groups but an intimate chat with a good friend.

Basil Al-Dajane

I can't believe how badly people are being treated here by ignorant staff. I will never come back again. The staff needs to be trained on how to talk to people and discuss things appropriately I'm disgusted

Pavlo Kuzhel

Very chill, relaxed with a light and airy atmosphere. Unique and hip decor that feels authentic and not too "try hard". Simple menu that has all the classics you'd expect to see in any credible café. Friendly staff, with tasty snacks and the added bonus of a liquor license. Definitely an asset to the cities café scene!

Dan Loewen

Service was great but my coffee tasted as if it had tomato soup in it. Did not enjoy.

Nigel Jacobs

Nitro cold brew coffee was pretty good

Paul Rak

Place has amazing vibe and pre 1900 feel but modern and chic at the same time. Great espresso and desserts, I'm right beside the railway station going to London and Toronto

Sylvia Tatarek

Trendy. Great London fog. Location adjacent to train station thus minimal unpaid parking. Baristas were friendly product was fresh. Selection limited at 7.30pm.

Rebecca Pavan

The place is a bit higher on the cost to side of things. Parking is poor. Service is good and the drinks are very fine.

Verity Suntz

The BEST little coffee shop. I wish I knew about this place when I was a student. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is beautiful and so laid back. Check out their little artisan things for purchase (The glass straws are amazing)

Abdullah AlBiladi

Our fave local coffee shop! Most lovely staff and high quality brews. Never disappoints!

Shanny Foo

Fantastic coffee, friendly and knowledgeable baristas, decent eats...but what makes this place really shine? The atmosphere of course! The big, bright windows backing onto downtown Kitchener's bustling train station make it look less like a railroad and more like a work of art. Truly wonderful place to spend some time and some money. I can't keep myself from coming back. Oh, and yes, they do to-go cups for your morning commute to work!

Nicole Simpson

Nice vibe close to downtown. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed an awesome Flourless Blondie baked good and lattes.

Amaninder Singh Dhillon

Laid back and trendy. A few specials everyday and some snacks. Good selection of coffee and specialty drinks.

Paige Smith

Breakfast

Christian Saadalla

Ambiance is everything here. So comfortable and the coffee and tea selection are wonderful. Next time you want to chill and enjoy the atmosphere this is the place. But, parking is a pain as more people discover this place.

Heather McD

Cozy place that makes you feel warm, located right next to the train station and opens early which makes it convenient to get a nice cup of coffee and a treat before catching the train. The guy who works there is very nice and welcoming. And their coffee is amazing.

Sylvia Fox Bevan

Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The limited time Lavender London Fog is really good too! Free WiFi, ask for password. I found the music a tad too loud and at this time they don't have tap to pay.

Asia Nelson

This is the cutest little coffee shop around! I was here yesterday for part of my engagement photos and I just love it! Its so rustic and has the best vibes. You can rent part of it out for no cost, let me just tell you that no where does that!! The latte I had was delicious. I can't wait to see the photos and shout out to Fab for allowing me to rent the bar for photos :) Photography done by: Light and Love Photography (highly recommend)

Chandelle and Matt King

Amazing coffee. Rustic and relaxing atmosphere. DVLB's little sister. Welcome to Kitchener. Great location beside the Via/GO station. Cheers to a job well done.

Keith Little

Nice cozy place that has awesome bevies. Folks serving were very nice. I thought it was neat that you could rent the space for events. I was there for a friends birthday.

David Nickerson

The vibe in here is phenomenal. It really brought me back to my tree-planting days where I just wanted good conversation with my friends. The matcha latte with almond milk was so good I had 2!Really nice atmosphere with a variety of tea blends and coffees. I am not a coffee drinker but my friends who are love this place. Tried their matcha latte, which was delicious - if only the cup was bigger! Would come back again to meet with friends, and would recommend if you're in the area.

Emily

Fabulous afternoon view, average hot chocolate, no gluten free food ( they used to have ), good vibe.

Hana D

Love this cafe! I've been going for the past two years and it is still one of my favorite places to have a nice cup of coffee! The employees are lovely as well!

Eric Blondeel

It's a lovely little place with great food, coffee and staff!

Jeff Powers

Love the atmosphere and the beverages are top notch PLUS I can buy my favourite brews there to bring home too! I'll be back...OH YES...I shall be back.

Jimmy Hristov

Really like the space and the coffee is one of my favourite brews (wish they served lactose free milk). Had a great time hosting my writing workshop at the communal table!

Herman Anker

Wow wow wow I love it here very much, the coffee is delicious and it always smells amazing

Amie Shepherdson

Impeccably sourced and roasted. The atmosphere at smile tiger is always alive as well. What a great coffee shop.

Alex R

GREAT coffee! Came in looking for a good roast for espresso and was recommended Sunday Sun. SO nice, I didn't have to sweeten my latte. It was very smooth with next to no bitterness at all, and produced a lovely crema. Definitely check them out, you'll be hooked!

Miyaka K

Really fresh and tasty coffee (used for espresso). Could use zip bags as an improvement.

Nina Maria

Good coffees and snacks. Nice interior. Kind of pricey, ok for a treat but not everyday coffee.

Boriana Mileva

Lots of natural lighting during the day. Open later than a few other local coffee shops but very limited parking. Interesting seasonal drinks, like beet latte. Tip from barista: free parking in VIA rail lower lot and along Water Street.

Duncan MacKenzie

Very cool design and atmosphere. I had black coffee (superb) and some Thai coconut soup (wow!) served with some delicious Texas toast. Highly recommended

Calin Alexander

One of my favourite spots to get out of the house and get work done. It also doubles as a fantastic spot to grab a beer in the evenings. I will forever be a regular here :) So glad you guys weathered the covid storm! And thanks for installing electrical outlets!!

Steffen Klaere

High quality coffee and a great vibe.

Chris Lutka

I love this coffee stop. They make a killer London fog, and got chocolate. They have impeccable service and not to mention this place is aesthetically pleasing! We had one of our engagement shoots with smile Tiger Coffee roasters permission and they were more than happy to help!

Jessica Beattie

Great space, lots of natural light and nice vibe

Giuz F

Fantastic place...went in to grab a coffee for a dog walk...came out and the owner had brought my sweety a bowl of water and said my dog was welcome to wait in line with me because she is so well behaved. Also a nice spot to sit and study/ do work online.

Brock Rowlands

My favourite Kitchener coffee shop! The baristas are all lovely and personable, their coffee is AMAZING. I would recommend also buying a bag of their coffee to have at home. In non-pandemic times, their ambience while sitting around, working, or just enjoying some quiet time is parallel to none. My drink of choice is a dirty chai with almond milk, and I’d recommend it to anyone!

Anish Babu Bharatha

This place is super cozy, great atmosphere. The coffee was pretty good and the service was friendly. They also serve local Craft beer on tap here as well. Enjoy!!!

Bruno Cherubino

Love their coffee. Great selection of treats plus other food. Depending whose working service is awesome or could be faster. Beautiful decor.

J Sewerniuk

A charming coffee shop next to the KW train. Probably one of the coziest yet open spaces to have a coffee in the area!

Dyann Jackson

Great if you don’t have to catch a train. 17 min for 1 small latte and. 1 slice of toast. Almost 10.00 for the above mentioned. Staff absolutely needs training.

Steve Coleman

Really impressive place. The coffee never fails to please, and the baked goods and other food options are of a very high quality. Good craft beer options, too The space itself is very attractive, too. Only gripe is the limited parking options.

Keefer Rourke

prices are high but the drinks are good!

Dinah Davis

Great in house roasted coffee. Conveniently located next to the Via Rail station. It is far more enjoyable waiting for the train in this great space, enjoying some great treats and excellent coffee.

Naima Samuel

Coffees were superb. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. And willing to share tips and brewing insights. Atmosphere is funky, open and rustic modern.

Bartosz Scheller

Great cafe! Good atmosphere. Was there for the open mic. Well organized. Thx corey. great sound too. Had a blast. Be back again... Cant give 5 stars due to some minor parking hassles. Cheers eh!

Amanda Melnick

This place has quickly become one of my favourite coffee shops in KW. They roast their own beans, which provides a unique and delicious cup of coffee that you won't find elsewhere. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is always impeccably clean! Parking can sometimes be challenging, but its worth it for the coffee.

Luke G

I just bought Smile Tiger's Thunder Peel in London, Ontario, and it is the absolute worst coffee I have ever tasted. It is their espresso roast, but the grounds look like a light roast. When I did a pour over, the taste of the brew was so bitter, I had to use some salt to tame it down, and even then the taste was awful. Maybe the people who started this company have never had a good espresso before. Or maybe they just want to fleece their customers with fancy packaging because this 1/2 lb. cost $20. Not worth it. They should try some good roasted beans from Hasbeans here in town. Maybe they can learn what it is supposed to taste like.

Mehran Meidani

Very good coffee and espresso, nice place too

Floriane Colombe Dion

Best coffee roaster in Ontario! I've yet to find a bag of beans I enjoy more. The coffee shop is sweet as well. Great place to have a coffee or beer and catch up with a friend. If you plan on coming here to do work, be warned there's very few outlets for your laptops. But awesome place regardless.

Emily Scott

Poor taste of coffee and no good food to eat.

Ryan Swayze

Love the atmosphere here, great place to just hangout have a tea. Read do some homework whatever your into. Staff is usuay pretty friendly. I enjoy a London fog when i come to this place.

Torsten Mueller

Really nice interior decor for being a hipster coffee place. Descent hot chocolate and really tasty tea biscuits.

Gloomipede

Fantastic atmosphere - beautiful space with big windows and lots of seating. I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but the decaf flat white made with almond milk was good, and the espresso chocolate scone offered a great balance of sweet and almost savoury to complimeny the flat white. Baristas were also really great - friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! Would definitely come back here if we lived in the area. 4.5 stars for sure!

Matthew Brownlee

I quite enjoyed stopping by for a coffee here. Great environment, not a bad location and I found the staff friendly. Will definitely drop by again.

Yos M

Simply; Hand crafted quality. They roast their own beans and train their employees well so you always get a nice drink. Im a big fan of their seasonal menu as well. They often have unique combinations that are flawlessly crafted. Today I had a mocha and lavender latte that was a beautiful blend of earthy summer flavours and a goat cheese and herb scone. (Always ask for the scone to be warmed) both were excellent as usual ????

Joan Vincent

Great service, good quality coffee and a nice patio!

Smile Tiger is my new favourite coffee! I bought my husband a gift basket for Father's Day and it just happened to include a package of "Nightmare Hippy Girl" medium/dark roast. It's so delicious, there's no going back to any other coffee. We searched them up online, discovered that orders over $50 are delivered fo free and have been drinking it ever since. This week, rather than order online, we went into the shop on Ahren Street in Kitchener. It's an interesting location by the train station on a dead end street. The inside is lovely and the staff were excellent. We bought our fresh roasted beans here and enjoyed a double chocolate muffins to boot! If you haven't tried Smile Tiger Coffee, my husband and I highly recommend it! We also enjoyed the Columbia blend and the Black Tambourine Dark Roast.

Rachel Robertson

Love this place! Fresh tasty coffee plus plus plus!

Siobhan McCausland

I accidentally hit one star by accident. Scared me for a second till I found out I could edit that. That was close. Great spot. Even better coffee

Mark Beach

Lovely coffees and cozy atmosphere. Only four stars because parking is a challenge - be prepared to wait or walk! The patio is beautiful.

Farshid Sadatsharifi

Love the atmosphere here! Great coffee, drinks and snacks. One of my go-to coffee places in town. Wish there was a little more parking available, but otherwise a perfect spot to relax or bring clients!

Bella Z

Good coffee, however there were 0 tigers of any state of mind, let alone smiling

velka kocka

Overall this place is really cool and they have great coffee but this review had to be a 2 star because of how we were treated by a guy named Andrew. Very rude and unfriendly. Seems like he has a "godly" type of attitude about him. This really should have been a 4 star but this guy really takes the cake!

Harley Pellowe

Very cool vibe and solid coffee brews

Dylan Carey-Woodman

This is a pretty nice spot. I had a coffee and dessert and they were both quite nice. The environment is bright, clean, and inviting. There is a variety of seating available (coaches, high tables, regular tables). The lack of parking is a deterrent, though. The server was friendly and quick.

Marc Del Grande

Coffee and bread were so good. But servers were unkind. They were racist.

Shayne Tinslay

One of my favourite spots to catch up on some emails while enjoying some great coffee!

Matt McDermott

Great coffee and lovely location. It has turned into a tradition for me wait for the train in their while enjoying a cup of their coffee. I get requests from friends and family to pick them up the freshly roasted coffee while I'm there.

Neil Moser

Beverages not hot.

Nicole Layton

Delish coffee from a bright, clean storefront. Tried the nitro cold brew and happy to get it again. (Imagine if cold brew coffee had the foamy head of a Guinness) Wasn't there long enough to try the food and baked delights in the case, but hope to next time.

Bilal Al-Ghazi

This place is a gem. Great coffee and baked goods. They also have a nice beer collection post bike ride. Always great staff, always spotless and one of the nicer patios for a quiet coffee. Bike racks and parking make this one of our go to places.

Anita Chew

I absolutely love this spot! It is a great place to get a little work done or to meet friends or colleagues for a latte. I am a van of their very Berry tea. Highly recommend this spot.

Reza Razavian

This little place may seem to be a cool, hipster coffee shop, but in reality they’re just posers who make worse coffee than Timmies. The coffee tastes sub-par, their kambucha actually tastes like rotting hay, and their baked snacks are overpriced and undersized. They have some prime real estate being right next to the VIA rail station and their location is very nice (that’s why I’m giving them 2 stars instead of 1); but I wish that their products actually tasted good, instead of paying $8 for a coffee and a brownie or $10 for a single bottle of kambucha. Nothing hurts worse than buyers remorse when your starving and tired.

Sayana Yarbakht

One of the best places for a cappuccino in the city. Expect a dialed clean nutty espresso with a milk steamed to excellent temperature. The atmosphere is very relaxed but yet the space does not seem cozy with a mix of industrial mixed with mid-century modern decor.

Hamsa Reviews

Has been a personal favourite just because of the ambience and atmosphere. Great place to chill, study or read. It's also right next to the train station. Parking is a bit limited so be prepared to park a little farther if it's busy. Good coffee too!

Ryan Hancock

As someone that's pretty obsessive about coffee, I've heard a lot of people reference this place to me, since moving to the KW area. I'm not an expert barista, but I've spent about 3 decades collecting beans and drinking coffees from all over the world. One thing that's common is that if the coffee shop has industrial lighting and exposed brick, watch out. Chances are it will be overpriced, rely heavily on aesthetics to impress its patrons, attract hipsters, and most importantly have an overly robust coffee with fruity tones. I've never been a fan of this style of coffee. I prefer coffee to taste like coffee. If you've been to the roasters all over Italy, or tasted a rich Columbian roast coffee, you'll know what I mean. I arrived at Smile Tiger early this morning to be the first customer and taste the coffee fresh. I took a sip and left it there, as I've done at many coffee shops here that serve what I like to call "Pruney" coffee. I just don't like hints of fruit, especially citrus, in my coffee. If you're into that style of coffee, then this is the place for you.

Anand Sundararajan

The sweet smell of roasted coffee will draw you in, but they also serve food. Very relaxing place to simply chill, read, or visit with friends with a coffee and / or healthy food. Limited parking on the side of the building. The sign says "15 mins only". What it does not say is that you can stay there longer if you go in the coffee shop.

Stephen Tunney

Great staff, excellent strawberry beer and wonderful atmosphere.

Matthew Gardner

Great atmosphere. Authentically brewed coffee. Most of the staff extremely friendly... but one ill-mannered woman ruined my first experience.

Jaydeep Mistry

Cozy spot to settle in for great coffee either on your own or with a friend.

Taylor MacGregor

Best coffee place in KW area

Jourdan Meinen

Cute cafe, with lots of space to sit and chat over hand crafted latte. My personal favourite is the selection of toast. Yes, toast. You can get thick cut slices in a variety of bread types with an even bigger variety of toppings. The only downside (but also, in a way, upside) is the proximity to the train station. It makes certain times of day difficult to navigate. There's also a really small parking lot :(.

Tom O'Connor

Good atmosphere. The coffee is smooth and there are lots of good snack options including gourmet toast and baked goods. This place is also licensed if you're looking for a casual drink.

Kali Persyn

Great location and nice atmosphere. Bought a bag of coffee beans and had sushi lunch with @dorimMueller

Fj Abraham

Definitely one of our favourite stops for coffee in KW. Their coffee and food is always delicious. Try to avoid visiting during the GO Train schedule in the evening - it get really busy at 7:30 and 8:30. Parking is usually quite limited, as well.

Martin H

Live their coffee. Was also happy to happen upon their open mic night a week ago. There was so much great talent.

Eamonn Cuerden-Conboy

Great coffee and cool aesthetic! Definitely recommend checking out when you're downtown

Sam Vanderwood

My favourite source for coffee in KW. Amazing service equal to the quality of coffee. Keep up the great work!

DoseOfDia

I’ve loved this coffee shop for years! Cozy, great coffee and service, and great place to work.

Mike Bolger

Great space. Best espresso I've had in a while.

Patrick Bergsma

To bad wished I could sat inside on a rainy day but they support the vaccine passport (which is not scientific at all ) wish the owner had a backbone likely will not be back ever !

Alexis Jieun Bae

My go-to coffee shop in town. Love the atmosphere here. It’s a nice place to sit and get some work done. Usually busy in the morning.

Nick Iwanyshyn

Love the openness of the space, baristas are always super friendly, their coffees are wonderful, and there's always great music playing. One of my favourite cafés in KW!

Tejasvi Mishra

Wonderful place, the staff are very friendly and give a great atmosphere to the environment.

George Simopoulos

Bright open concept and big enough to feel comfortable. Tastefully decorated. Beet juice was good and Chia pudding was excellent! Not too watery like most places. Thank you!

Tom Holder

Nice cafe. Polite service. Decent coffee. Nice cakes. Good place to wait for a train. Recommended.

Nathan Pronk

This is a great place to kill time before boarding Via or the Go. There are couches, tables...it has a Starbucks feel. The service is friendly and helpful. The cafe is accessible as there is a ramp. The coffee is fair trade - you have the choice of a pour over or a drip. There are a few latte options too and some teas

Mark Weiss

Very quaint little place! They roast their own coffee (go on Wednesdays for the smell experience) and have LOTS of room to work and enjoy a conversation. Although parking can sometimes be tough, It is definitely worth it for a taste of their coffee! They also freshly steep their teas and offer some lunch and snacks which are really good! Worth the drive and the experience!

Aniket Shinde

Nice place to spend a few hours, it 's making the higher prices worth while!

nur elmasri

I had a pour over with an espresso shot over top and it was the best thing I have had in KW. I went back for just a pour over - I marvel at how good of a cup they can make. Unbelievable quality.

Brock L

Ordered 2 bags during the stay-at-home order, got it to me within 3 hours of the order being placed.

Nola Thompson

Great coffee and very cool environment. Convenient location for anyone catching the GO train.

Toni Stevens

This coffee shop is a true gem, located in a gritty part of Kitchener near the dilapidated train station. But, should you find yourself in this area, then check out this coffee shop. The coffee I had was probably one of the best coffees that I've ever had! Ridiculously good. Also, the ambiance and indoor atmosphere were very tasteful and pleasant. I really hope Kitchener rebuilds this area (in particular, the train station) so that this coffee shop gets the local environment it deserves!

Jennifer Heard

Found this gem of a place while taking a friend to the train station. From the outside there is no way to see how big it is inside. The tables aren’t crammed together and everyone has room to spread out. Look at all the room! The coffee is amazing. Would definitely come to work on my laptop and enjoy a cup of coffee here.

Sharmistha Bhattacharya

This is our favourite local cafe. Such a great environment, baby friendly, and amazing food! Their bread is actually amazing - 10/10, would recommend.

Jake Richards

Great place to grab a bite, a sip and/or a local brew. Cups and whole bean coffee to go and a real nice atmosphere. If you adore coffee like we do, it's a place to definitely check out!

Stephanie Cuachon

Amazing coffee best for miles around! Love the vanilla lattes and friendly staff who often recognize me and remember my order! Can’t wait for my next cup!

David Brubacher

Smile Tiger is a great place in Kitchener. I have been getting all my coffee beans from here for a few months and they have a ton of options. Their in-store drinks are great as well and have multiple dairy substitutes. You can order ahead from their website and also get your beans delivered.

Danielle Faria

This place has great coffee and great vibes but it is pretty pricey. This was the first time we have been back since the pandemic and I don't remember the servings being so small. We LOVE local coffee shops but this one is just not worth the price tbh.

Carlo Fusco

This is my favourite place for food and coffee. The atmosphere is so incredibly relaxed and friendly. The staff are nice and happy to be there! Their daily soups are definitely worth the price and coupled with a pour-over is an excellent way to spend your evening.

Janette Burmaster

AmIng environment great snacks and drinks first time here definitely coming back ????

Chrissy D

Stellar coffee, very comfortable atmosphere. Ask for a Gibraltar. I haven't had a questionable coffee yet. I arranged a coffee roasting tour a few weeks ago with Hannah, their head roaster. She knows her stuff, and definitely loves coffee. Enjoy learning with her! If you're a driver, the GO train parking lot is next door, but beware it's not free parking. You might be OK if you're in-and-out though. The morning rush is probably heavy, based on its proximity to the station.

Rebecca Garlick

Very cozy place. I look forward to trying the different coffees here. London fog was good. I had ordered the sour dough toast. I had waited about 15 minutes for it which is a long time for just toast. However I will say that it is honestly the best piece of sour dough toast I have had so it was worth it. The bread was very fresh and a good size. I will come again to order the toast but I will make sure to come at a time when I have extra time to spare.

Siegy Wiens

Great coffee ☕. My brother took me to this great coffee shop.

Lisa Jackson

Good coffee but absolutely no outlets to charge your computer or phone.

Chi-Hsiang Liao

Great atmosphere and artwork, long wait time for beverages, but staff are friendly

Zach Waterfield

Unbelievably splendid tasting coffee! Baristas here are very knowledgeable about the coffee beans that they use.

Mandy Rowlands

Best coffee in K/W, by far. I buy my roasted espresso beans here (Thunder Peel), which is a fantastic bean, and it makes a phenomenal cup of espresso. Of course, whenever I'm there I also get them to make me a cup to go. Next time you're anywhere near the Victoria train station, do yourself a huge favor, and stop by for a cup (or two). You can thank me later.

Sheida M

Ambiance is nice. Good coffee. No soy milk? Get with the times.

Mark Andrew Nouwen

Meal type

Nathanael Lewis

I haven't been back to this place in a year and I really need to fix that because this is the place that turned me into a coffee drinker. I usually buy their stuff online because I haven't been able to make a trip back out there but this is a would/could/and will recommend from me.

Mike Buchnea

Amazing place great coffee! Zero parking. Would be 5/5 not their fault but it makes me think twice to visit.

Kathryn De Grano

It's a bar too, not just a coffee shop. Who knew? They have great beer and coffee. I found the food a little underwhelming.

Theresa Dam

Comfortable atmosphere. Good music. Friendly staff. Tasty menu. Close to the Via station when it is closed. All good!!

Christine Brown

If you’re waiting for a bus at the station next door, this is the perfect place to grab a coffee and a seat.

Amy Neufeld

So far so good! I tried the sour cherry kombucha which was great. Will go more often and try more items on their menu.

D Davis

Excellent quality coffee. One of my favourite coffee shops in KW and I love being able to purchase coffee that was roasted just a few days prior to purchase for home use!

Sachin M S

great tasting coffee, friendly service.

Patrick Walker

Great coffee and yummy gluten free sweets as well. I enjoyed the ambiance and music and found the seating comfortable. The only things keeping this from getting 5 stars is the small amount of parking and the relatively small number of outlets. But great overall.

Joanne Madore

Great atmosphere, delicious snacks and exquisite beans. I buy all my coffee beans here now. Also the pour over coffee is excellent. If they sold sandwiches I'd never leave.

Mark Smith

Very cute cafe! Lots of seating available and great snack/light meal options. Only negative is the small parking lot.

Sarah Hohner

What a great spot!! Enjoyed a coffee there recently and will visit again to try some other options. A little more money than a Tim's, but the quality of their product makes up for it. Don't shy away, it is worth a visit.

Aella Rose

I love their espresso drinks and the dark roast coffee !

Rodney Lover

Great coffee shop. Atmosphere is nice, coffee/snacks are very good. Only problem is parking is very limited. If you drive there during a busy time (which is often), you won't be able to park. Recommended to walk there if you can.

JT Pearson

Delicious coffee in a delightful space. The Americano is a must try. Went on two different occasions in the evening and they wouldn't serve us a pour over, but I suppose they have their own set of rules they follow.

David Hosey

Great ambiance, tasty treats and (reportedly) excellent coffee. The building itself is beautiful, the designers did a great job of keeping and highlighting period components of the building and melding them seamlessly with modern, eclectic decor. The hot chocolate I drank was delicious - hot and not too sweet. The carrot cake has real cream cheese icing and the chocolate scone is outstanding. Prices are high - but hipster coffee shops selling good quality coffee will have high prices - embarked and enjoy.

Owen Lennox

Nice atmosphere, lots of space to work. Good coffee and snacks. Coffee beans are roasted on-site. They do not accept American Express

KC Flynn

Awesome place, great coffee. Looks really nice inside. Can’t wait to come back when things are more normal!

Sandra Biskupovic

Nothing to complain about here: great staff, great seating, great atmosphere, great coffee and great experience. Go for it!

K. Thompson

Some of the best baristas in town. Super knowledgeable, and some of the best roasted coffee in the area.

John Smith

Baked goods are delicious. Nice, open seating area. The chairs/stools are not comfortable nor would they be good for people with mobility challenges.

Kassi Rodriguez

Nice place. Great coffee. Love the bright atmosphere.

Alaina Burwell

Great atmosphere about this place! I love bringing people here, but I will say, not a total fan of their coffee. Has a very unique taste that’s just not my preference! All other drinks and food are amazing though! Parking can also be really hard to find!

Isidora Romantini

Love the atmosphere here. It's brighter and roomier and the decor was perfect. I'll be back to try the coffee. Had vanilla rooibos and the beet salad, and really enjoyed both.

Anna Buhr

Friendly staff, great coffee

Adam Zgraja

Great place to grab a Coffee or snack. Very nice atmosphere as well.

Angeline Fletcher

Great place, love their coffee. One of the best in kitchener waterloo area.

Michael M.

Beautiful, huge building and great coffee!

K Shields

Fantastic atmosphere and delicious pour-over coffee of you have time to sit, or great drip if you're on the go. I buy their beans when I can for coffee at home, too. Go for a drink. It's a lovely time.

Jeff Scherer

My husband's a coffee connoisseur and I'm just starting to enjoy coffee. The great thing about smile tiger is that their coffee beans are great for both types of coffee drinkers. We love getting a bag of freshly roasted beans each week and, when asked, the staff will grind them too. This place is a must go!

Me Lanie

Smile Tiger is a cute cafe in Kitchener that has great lighting and a very relaxed atmosphere. I loved the mocha I got and how much seating there is. The matcha latte can also come sweetened. There are outlets available at the middle seating area and they also have some baked goods available and sushi from another restaurant for purchase if you want lunch. I got one of their pretzels which was delicious. They had some sandwiches on the menu but they were sold out since morning. Maybe next time!

Dallas Roth

Warm and welcoming staff. Delicious coffee and cozy environment with plenty of spacious seating. Parking is unfortunately slim pickings. Besides that, highly recommend!

Frank S

Easily the best cafe in Waterloo region.

John Vessoyan

Love this place. Staff are as fantastic as the coffee is.

Kathryn Fazekas

Warm, cozy and affordable. This place has some amazing choice of confectionery items and various tea and coffee options just to rejuvenate your body in time.

peter J

Coffees good here but the baristas are kinda rude.

James Me

Such a great work environment! Fast internet, bright, great coffee, the baked goods look good too (though I've admittedly never tried them). I've grabbed their whole bean coffee for home too and it was brewed 2 days before I bought it so was really fresh.

Tara Devi

Looks great still haven't enjoyed!!

Jenny Tran

I always love getting the mochas here as a treat. Service is great and the space is gorgeous. My long time local standby!

Maximillian Segnen

This coffee shop has so much character to it. From the faint scent of wood like being in a cabin, to the warm decor. Floor to ceiling windows in the front allow for lots of natural light to fill the room. I ordered the Vietnamese Saigon, which is their take on Vietnamese coffee made with sweet condensed milk. It was delicious, just the right sweetness but still has the distinct taste of coffee that blends so perfectly together. Be warned, there isn't any tap payment other than Apple Pay, so you will need your cards with you if you don't use cash. Parking is very limited and tight, can be difficult if you drive a larger vehicle.

Efraim Tsarfati

I usually go for beans but today also had an americano - excellent coffee, friendly staff

Stewart McKie

Stopped in during a significant train delay. The Americano is very rich and earthy. Loved it! The space inside is good for working and the service was very friendly.

Harpawan Gill

Came here based on the reviews, terrible experience, would not recommend! They had only 2 staff members who were overwhelmed with the amount of customers. Waited more then 30 minutes to receive our food and drinks, that too was delivered one item at a time, when they did finally arrive all of the "hot" drinks were cold ❄️ and then we had to keep going back to the counter and reminding them of everything that we had ordered. Don't waste your time, go to Starbucks instead.

Kristy Keiller

Used to be good. My Americano tasted very over extracted and paid too much for it. Was going to order a latte until I noticed their milk was sitting out on the counter and not in the fridge. Not sure how long that had been sitting there for... They have sold out signs everywhere. The space was pretty, but low quality products.

Ali Abyaneh

Wish I could give 0 stars. I asked some questions about their retail coffee and the staff knew nothing! Staff need more training especially on their products. Their bar area was also very messy and gross. I ordered an espresso and it tasted like garbage. No sweetness in the cup at all. Very disappointed.

Davor Cvijic

Terrific coffee selection. Great staff & atmosphere. Good view West along Victoria to Webber.

Shane Bezzo

My new favourite coffee place in the region. The coffee is delicious and the building/space is well designed and interesting. We went on a Monday night and it wasn't busy, though I imagine it can be at times. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they ground the coffee we bought to take home to our specifications. We'll be back soon.

Anthony S.

My wife and I have been visiting this cafe for a couple of years now for a place to have a good coffee and a few minutes of down time. The staff are always professional and friendly, even when I accidentally spilled a gibraltar all over their coffee bar. Also a great selection of beans for home brewing. 'Thunder Peel' is my preferred choice in Kitchener for my espresso machine. The location is very convenient if you are going through the train station, unfortunately there is very limited parking if you are just stopping by -- unless you park at the Via station across Ahrens which you aren't supposed to do. The coffee is worth the trouble though.

Sophia Amstutz

Lattes are delicious. Peanutbutter brownies are to dieee for. Such a lovely atmosphere

Karen Barsness

Great place for socializing or working. Nice open space, good snacks, local beer and fresh roasted coffee. What else do you need?

Wil Candlish

One of the best coffee shops in Kitchener. I especially love the amount of seating because it makes it great to work from.

Filip Josic

For a coffee shop beside a train station, there was not quick enough service around commuting times. There was maybe one person working and the line was moving at a snails pace. This wouldn’t be an issue if it was a coffee shop located somewhere else or if it wasn’t during commuting times but people are rushing to go somewhere.

Ali Baig

Waiting in line for my coffee and overheard staff members talking smack about the owners & managment. (Hard not to hear since they were very vocal about it). Sounds like a rough place to work. I hope the staff are compensated well here. However, the barista that served me was quite nice. I'd like to come back to support the employees, but not sure if I want to support the business owners knowing that they don't treat their staff right. I'll have to think about coming back here. Coffee was okay. The place was kind of messy and dirty.

Ryland Connors

Great atmosphere and decor! Smile Tiger knows good quality coffee. A great place to meet friends or for a casual date or a place to read and drink a latte. Enjoy!

Amy DiCarlo

Delicious mocha, coffee and nice atmosphere!

Jess Ie

Fantastic coffee shop by the train station in Kitchener. Food and drinks were excellent. I had an iced chai latte and a scone and my wife had the London fog and a muffin. Lots of comfortable seating both inside and out.

Jeff MacIntyre

Enthusiastic, friendly staff Wide assortment of delicious baked goods Cold Brew on tap!

Todd Hunt

We are there basically every Saturday for a little break. We have a snack and a coffee. The staff is nice and helpful. And they are catering to our wishes. In New Zealand a staple is a fluffy, which is a espresso cup filled with foamed milk which is served with cocoa or cinnamon and sometimes a marshmallow. We hadn't experienced it here but they were happy to provide. We also tried their beans for home use and they made quite good coffee for a decent price. The one downside is the strange smell. One gets used to it as you sit there but it is quite overwhelming when you enter. The fact that we still go there regularly should indicate how minor this is though.

Sun Lee

Very friendly and helpful staff, delicious baked goods and great lattes

1n0v8

Staff member was rude, practically slammed my cup on the table and didn't acknowledge/reply when I said thank you. It's unfortunate as the place itself is really vibrant and coffee/baked goods were very nice.

Peter McMahon

Great coffee shop in Kitchener conveniently located by the GO station. Perfect for the pick me up before the commute or for picking something up for the ride home.

Alyssa L

Amazing place. My wife and I held our wedding reception here in 2017. The staff is phenomenal and the atmosphere is like none other.

Mike M.

Great Mix Up, from the routine shop for layout and atmosphere. I love the workmanship on all the furniture in Smile Tiger, great place to harbour client relationships or bring the friends along for a smooth micro-brew on a hot summer day! 5 stars for this one, way to make it another place i have to come to on a regular basis!

Nathan Chalmers

The ambience of the environment is pleasant. There is open-space and is a good place for conversation or concentration. Nice selection of coffee, beverages and food in the menu as well!

Celine Huab

Perhaps the best tasting coffee in the region and a really nice atmosphere. That is what keeps bringing me back. However, I swear everytime I'm here they are out of paper towels in the bathroom. Also frustrated that I cannot get their coffee ground... Only full bean. Seems odd. Oh, and do not order a beer... Small... And pricey. With that said, their coffee is sensational.

Eat Your Feelings On A Budget

Awesome coffee, tasty treats, and the friendliest staff ever! I went with someone who thought I knew the barista, but I told them she was actually just that friendly and talkative!

Ryan Brodrecht

Been here about 10 times. Great cappuccino and desserts. Nice ambience, design, decor. Decent place for a date. Love the spacious individual bathrooms. Not great parking, but have got a spot most of the time.

Erik T

Really good third-wave coffee shop with good atmosphere and snacks. They have pour-overs, traditional meat-and-potatoes type coffee, and lots of neat teas. If you're catching a train or getting onto to one they're the perfect spot to stop into.

Michael

Had a black coffee and pecan tart there. Very smooth! Great vibe and spacious! (See photos attached)

Eric Martin

Lovely part of Kitchener and adds so much value to the train station. Tasty food, good drinks and very convenient. Love that their opening hours are so early for the train riders.

Joseph

Such great espresso and cappuccino. The best in town - but understandably super slow service so don't go if you're in a rush. Always feels a bit weird to be asked for a tip of 10%, 15%, or 20% when there is no table service and I'm ordering and waiting at the counter. Curious if it's because the staff are paid a servers wage even though they aren't serving.

Thaya Williams

Service

Marci Stemmler

What a gem of a place!

Tess Gahlinger

Cute coffee shop! The soup and bread combos are great. Don't know where they get the bread from but it was tasty.

Justin Muise

Arrived today 13 minutes before my train was scheduled to depart, ordered 2 bagels and 2 coffees without having to wait in line. Our barista’s care and diligence did not translate into the flavour of our drinks, and after waiting 12 minutes we had to sprint to the train without the bagels we had ordered. Disappointed on flavour, presentation, professionalism and punctuality. However, atmosphere is quite nice in this train side cafe. Possibly it’s only redeeming quality

Storm Graff

My significant other and I other dropped by today looking to try a new coffee shop. As we entered the shop, there was a bar scan code for your phone where we had to answer a questionnaire related to COVID. As we finished we went to the front counter and I wanted to ask a question about the menu. Even before I could open my mouth - the girl pretty much demanded to see the green check mark indicating we filled out the questionnaire. We had no issues since we filled it out and did show her the completion of the questionnaire and proceeded with our order. While we were waiting for our coffees, we noticed a Caucasian male entered and was not asked to show completion of the COVID questionnaire on his phone and was still able to order. Thereafter another female Caucasian entered the coffee shop (using the wrong entrance) and also was not asked about the COVID questionnaire either. Given both of us are asian, the first thing that popped in my mind was why the inconsistency in screening? Why were we told to promptly show our completion when others did not have too? Obviously I did not make it a big deal or else I would've reacted in the shop but I feel if this is a reoccurring pattern with non-Caucasian customers then I would say this is pretty discriminatory and shouldn't be allowed. I don’t believe this was intentional discrimination and perhaps some education and reminder needs to be reiterated about that importance of screening every customer equally. This was my observation and given the fact I was annoyed afterwards I feel justified to post this review.

Holly Harris

Gorgeous interior, very inviting atmosphere. Great location for business meetings, large tables available for several individuals. Good selection of teas, lattes, coffees. Highly recommended if one is planning a tryst or romantic rendezvous. I definitely plan to return in future.

Amanda Gruneberg

Love this place. A little expensive but totally worth it. They let me bring my puppy inside provided he was well behaved, which he was. Cozy feel and great service

Mikaila Desjardins

Very friendly best decaf espresso around

Caroline E

Needed to grab something to eat before taking the 7:10 GO train and thought this was perfect spot. Unfortunately, only 1 person was working so I (& about 5 other people) were never served and we had to leave to catch our train. Might make sense to have another person on for the morning rush.

Nina Hedayati

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with lots of seating. I've only ever had tea there, which is good, but a little pricey. Might be a better option for me specialty drinks.

Cat Spicer

Nice space with a modern interior. Lots of menu items to choose from! The staff are friendly, and quick. It would be ideal if they expanded their parking lot, as there is limited space available to customers.

Nadina Donkersgoed

From the moment I entered this place it was a hit... and the service and the order that followed was fresh and amazing... try the sourdough toast with hummus ... it’s nice :)

Kenny Wong

Great Coffee! Love their espresso beans ! Brightens my morning <3

Cabalistic Apparatus

They make good and local coffee beans, and the atmosphere of the cafe is great. Too bad they don't have whole milk for lattes and the parking is super annoying. I've had great lattes made with their beans elsewhere though!

Duncan McRae

Everything was incredible here. The scones were fresh and rich, the coffee was absolutely killer, and the space is very cool. I highly recommend this place.

Alex Raynard

This is one of my favourite places to meet clients! Although parking is a bit tight, it's well worth it for the trendy atmosphere and excellent coffee options. I've also seen many people use the space for headshots as it's beautifully decorated.

Angela Vieth

Loved it - stopped in on a quiet Sunday morning with my little brother who lives nearby and goes there more often. He had his usual Pour-over (Tanzanian that morning) and I had a decaf shot in my Mocha which was super tasty and the leaf 'latte-art' on top was a sweet touch too. The sourdough toast with PB hit the spot, brother had the toast with cream cheese - also great. Nice job Smile Tiger! Great spot, casual, comfy seating at small tables

Loved the iced Lavender Matcha I ordered here. Delicious but not too flavourful combination of tastes, just great for a hot afternoon. The masks by the entrance were a much appreciated touch!

Case Britton

Really good decaf roast!

lili paliko

I love cold brew but DO NOT get it here. The taste is absolutely awful.

Aishwarya Chakravarthy

Great ambience, very good customer service and amazing coffee!!

Wyatt Brazel

Great place for meeting with family and friends ! It has a very homely feel to it. Really like the big living room like space at the center :)

Caitlin Vanderkley

Love the coffee at this place, they do the best "latte art" around. Decent amount of options (referring to the coffee, not the "latte art"(the latte art is a leaf just about every darn time)). Unfortunately won't be going here anymore since they banned dogs. It was nice having dogs around to eat all the roaches I saw crawling all over the place. Love the couch!

Tim Hattle

Tasty coffee and nice new urban hipster interior. I tried the pour over coffee, it was nice and full bodied, even if proper true pour over methods were not followed. The only reason i cannot give it 5 stars is becauee I was treated quite rudly by the barista that served me, I have never quite had that bappen to me before, but maybe they were just having a bad day.

Matthew Gayford

Nice food and ambiance, and they're licensed.

Shannon D

Loved the cafe! Cute place to sit down and work on something or simply to just drink a coffee!

Brian ODonovan

Charming ambience, Good coffee and delicious pastries

Steph G

Such a great place to study. Beautiful large windows to let in natural light, lots of seating and tables. The only beef I have with this place is that there's only one outlet and its beside the counter.

Vince B

Very smooth coffee!

Darla Howard

Always great staff, always spotless and one of the nicer patios for a quiet coffee.

Jordan Gillespie

Great vibe at this coffee place. Couches were comfy to sit back and relax. The pour over with ice was the perfect thing for a hot summer's day. Chocolate and Espresso scone was decadent and the right amount of sweetness.

Dustin Martin

The best tasting coffee in KW. I love their medium and light blends. So fruity and delicious. If you love pour over coffee or are curious to try it this is the place.

Heidi Chambers

Lovely ambience with unorthodox music for a coffee shop at times. Grab a cup of coffee (many varieties), tea, coffee beans, beer even, and sit comfortably on their massive couches. Worth a visit!

Alice Damas

One of the better independently owned coffee houses around. If you like it, check out DVLB in uptown Waterloo

Kevin Loader

Nice coffee place, thank you Damian.

Victoria Martin Pognante

Good selection of drinks but there is no food except for toasts and some dessert. Parking space is limited. Coffee is the best thing here. I have had two types of toasts so far and the bread was not actually toasted. I wish they served breakfast.

Great atmosphere, even now. Knowledgeable and helpful women. Many choices of freshly roasted beans. Desserts looked delicious. Sofas looked comfy. Smile Tiger will be on my list of places to spend time at ... when we can.

Brad Wilson

Only sampled the counter pastries and their amazing coffee for my morning commute on the Go. So tasty! And the staff are friendly and efficient! Very little wait time, so you won't miss the train.

love. eternal

Arrogant, immature employees (not sure what their role was there) insulted me and offended my guest. (It was not busy; relaxed Covid measures on 12/7/21,two or three out of 5 or 6 patio table were available.) My guest did not want to even stay there (patio) after the incident and wouldn't even touch the coffee I purchased Never experienced such an unwelcomed place in my life. Coffee btw, was mediocre quality, lukewarm to cold by the time I sat down with it. Recommend AGAINST it.

Kristin Kelly

Very nice cosy place near via rail train station, tried walnut muffin and hot chocolate loved it.

Patrick Martin

Coffee is great, rest of experience is subpar. Staff often aren't at the counter but in the back chatting, it's nearly impossible to get an answer if you call their number and parking is basically non-existent. I would be a more regular patron if I could know what roasts they had in stock or could reach someone easily.

Chengang Sun

Very good coffee. Nice atmosphere. Good place for a social distancing date with my hubby.

Cait Rogers

Phenomenal latte and carrot cake. The atmosphere is so comfortable and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been.

Sarah MacDonald Murray

A nice bright atmosphere inside and, for facing a parking lot, quite a nice patio to boot - love walking here with my dog! Excellent espresso beverages and their breakfast cookie is my favourite cookie of life :)

Lauren Doherty

Parking is an issue, but the coffee and atmosphere is decent.
