I've been going to this cafe for years, the workers are amazing. The cafe itself is really well decorated, really nice art on the walls and stuff to look at. It's a great place to bring kids too, there's a ton of kids books at the back of the cafe. The coffees are always great, I've never had a complaint about their food. I highly suggest it!

A fun local coffee shop worth supporting. I ordered an iced decaf americano and iced chai. The baristas were friendly and unpretentious and gracious with me as I non coffee drinker fumbled my way through ordering for my wife who partakes of the disgusting brown bean juice. I can't speak to the quality of the coffee since it all tastes nasty to me, but my wife loved it. The Iced Chai was delicious with just the right amount of spice and a good tea to ice ratio. The shop was small and much better suited to grabbing on the go than sitting around for a long conversation but they do have a patio booth out on the side walk (atleast during covid) The place felt friendly and unpretentious which is something important to me. It is exactly the type of local small business I want to encourage and support.

Used to work in the Kitchener area and this was my go-to place when I needed some good quality coffee, it is nice and calm, a good place to focus and clear your mind before heading back to the office and into the rush of work. The layout might be a little cramped when ordering as people try to move into the back restrooms and such (the big cabinet is the main reason for that) but it is very comfortable when seated. Food and drinks quality is very good and even though a little on the higher end of the price range it is worth the spending.

This cafe is absolutely great. I finally found a source for Chocolate Raspberry coffee beans. The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxing. The wifi connection is excellent as well. Also, it was open as early as 9 a.m. on a Saturday whereas some other places don't open till 10. I like the historical photos on the wall. Original artwork by local artists would also be nice. This place would be even better if they played some decent music instead of the typical hip hop rap type of stuff.

I think this is the embodiment of a top tier local cafe.

Love it just as much as I love the Waterloo one which I went to first. Although this doesn't offer lunch, it offers something better - gelato! The creme Brulee and pineapple passion was just delicious. I also loved their matcha latte, not too strong. There is adequate seating inside and out with lots of outlets to work. If only they had a lunch menu so I could stay there all day without leaving!

One of the best coffee I’ve had in the KW region! I just wish the pastries are up to the standard of their coffee. The store opens at 9am, you’d expect the pastries to still be fresh at 11am but the scone I got was cold and hard.

Nice cafe. Typical compliment of coffee beverages but they also have gelato, the only spot in DTK I know of who does. There's a large communal table/workspace at the rear of the restaurant. The usual crowd of folks appears to be working professionals meeting at lunch or picking up a cup of coffee on go in the morning before work. Lots of through foot traffic.

Their coffee is so good I ended up buying a pack of their beans! The one I tasted (and ended up buying a pack) was called Traveller's and I drank it as a hot americano. I also loved their presentation (how they put much less water than usual like in Europe so the coffee can taste deeper, plus their cup, etc.) making it hands-down my best coffee in Canada! Part of my appreciation might have been due to the sub-par experience (or disgust, more exactly) that I had to endure previously at a McDonald's (which usually is above average), but who cares. Their coffee was good and I was so happy to be able to sip it somewhere else than in Europe!

Really nice flat white (with almond milk), but the treats were what made this place great! Zucchini walnut muffin had a delightful mix of spices in it that reminded me of Christmas, and the pecan buttertart was seriously awesome. Great service too - brought the drinks right outside to our table!

Used to be a great place to sit and relax. The new layout is terrible hard wooden seats and long tables suck. The coffee is really good and I love the different flavors and roasts, but I rarely go there anymore in favor of a more relaxed atmosphere down the street.

Really fantastic coffee roasts. So far I have enjoyed French Mocha, Continental Dark, and South Pacific. They do delivery / pickup. For online orders, you can customize the grind size if you want them to grind it for you. I’m newish to KW and I’d recommend trying Matter of Taste out if you are looking for good local coffee.

Wife's review: Came here on Saturday. Ordered 2 iced Americanos with 1 pump sugar free vanilla and room for milk. Received 2 overflowing drinks. Asked them to pour some out. I put milk and when we drank tbe drinks, realized they were sour. We told the staff and they apologized and offered to pour some hot coffee in our cups to take away the taste of the syrup. Then they charged me for that!!!!! Cookies were hard too. Will not return.

Very rude service made you feel like you were rude for daring to come in within 30 minutes of closing. Awesome tea but the fact we came in 30 min before closing and couldn't have our scone on a plate because they had to close in 30 mins and were trying to rush us out was a damper on the experience. I'm sure with nicer staff it is a wonderful place. But I'd recommend somewhere else where they actually want business and don't make you feel like a nuisance.

I come here to get my espresso beans! Their traveller blend is perfect for having just straight shots or making milk drinks. I also love their gelato in the summer! Check it out as it has been an independent coffee shop staple of Kitchener for so long!

Like any coffee shop with an espresso bar, a good espresso based drink depends on the expertise of the barista and the temperature of the equipment. This place is amazing because the owner knows all the factors that go into the best espresso based drink. The calibration process for these machines usually occurs when the machine is cool (when the day shift starts) and over heating (during constant use) can leave a burnt bitter taste. His machine is of very high quality, preventing the burnt taste you find at Starbucks. If it does taste a little bitter don't instinctively blame the barista, it may be that you've sacrificed quality for convenience by coming in at a busy time. So if you want the best in KW, go in while the owner is on bar and when it's not busy so the equipment is cool. It's easily the best coffee shop in KW. Death Valley's Little Brother is a close second, but their baristas' skill levels are too variable to recommend. Plus the negative vibes from the hipsters that go really drag the place down.

Great coffee shop in the downtown core with some nice additions you might not expect like gelato! I really enjoy the rotating fresh brews and the staff are also quite lovely. New baked items such as biscotti, brownies, muffins and more are available each day. Highly recommend checking this place out next time you're downtown in search of a coffee or something sweet.

Its on King's st. It has not changed much. A lot of problems down there. I'm not a person that can turn a blind eye to it. If you are trying to enjoy a cup a Joe; just wouldn't do a window seat. Or patio. Make sure you go with a friend or a group! Stay safe! Nice place though!

Coffee is always consistently tasty and this coffee shop provides excellent customer service every time! Most underrated coffee shop in KW. Great coffee with super friendly staff. Maybe I'm biased because I worked upstairs from it but this a great atmosphere to get work done and sip some grade A coffee. the affogato (scoop of gelato with espresso shot on top) is top notch.Surprisingly well-appointed cafe almost directly across from city hall. I rode by the place at least a couple times before realizing. The interior design is modern Italian inspired.
