Beautiful water front. Friendly staff!

Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff, my latte and cookie were delicious. Could use more parking.
Great food with all natural and local ingredients. Best latee around and what a view!!!!
Great sandwiches. Nice view as it's right on the lakeshore.
I love this cafe! The owners are awesome, and Anna Sudac is the "barista with the mostis" The food at the Juniper Cafe is top notch. The waterfront patio is as good as it gets!
Service
Great food and location. No wifi...

I'm so excited that this place opened. Not only does it have exceptional coffee, but the water-front view is outstanding - even today in a blizzard!! I was so impressed with the quality of the food, the attention to local sources, the funky/modern atmosphere, and there were even delicious options for gluten-free baked goods.
great food. great people. beautiful location.
Very cute cafe a stone throw away from campus! Prices are reasonable and the place is very very pretty. Will hopefully be back.
Nice place on the water. Off beaten track. Grab a coffee or one of their healthy choice drinks and relax on the outdoor patio by the water.
Gorgeous historic building, great coffee, often crowded.
Great view, surprisingly bad coffee. No laptops allowed between 11am-2pm.
Really cool space, amazing patio right on the water. Good food and service. They have beer and kombucha on tap
Great Lake side cafe
Extremely cozy but too small
The perfect date place, with nice views and excellent service.
Pricey but so worth it. Save some money and get yourself a sandwich to die for. Their tea is excellent too!
Nice place with Marvelous view
I’ll start by saying it was a little hard to find the first time visiting. Unless I missed them, there weren’t any signs to say where in the building it was located. So we walked around aimlessly for about 10 minutes until we saw chairs on a patio down by the water. I ordered a London Fog & a muffin. Both were delicious. They have a few gluten free options I believe and my friend seemed to enjoy it. Very cute inside, but a smaller space. The patio in the summer would be lovely. Will be back!
Nice relaxing space to chill. They have craft beers on tap!
I absolutely love this place! It has a very charming atmosphere with amazing food and delicious treats. They make cute lattes too! I love the view of the lake in the summer. My only complaint is how expensive it is, about $20 for a latte and a sandwich plus tip.
A hidden (literally) cafe that has some of the greatest sandwiches in Kingston. The head chef used to work at a high-end restaurant in Whistler called Araxi, and his work history certainly shows in his use of high-end ingredients and fresh bread. The pork belly is a crowd favourite, but I recommend the chicken and pickled zucchini for something truly extraordinary. Grab an espresso and beet salad too for a full lunch/dinner.
Delicious sandwich and large portions
Delicious food and wonderful staff in a very cool space.
Best coffee cafe in town ...view is worth the visit...
This quaint cafe in the basement of the Tett Centre has stunning views of Lake Ontario and an absolutely charming atmosphere. It can get quite crowded on nice weekend days, which means it can get a little noisy - so be prepared if you plan on doing work here.
My favorite lunch spot. Delicious soups/sandwiches/deserts. Try their $20 lunch combo where you get a home made soup, huge sandwich, coffee and desert. Can't beat the location. Right on the water.
Best location I’ve seen for a cafe out of many cafes in many cities and countries. Beautiful historic stone building retrofitted with modern engineering, right on the water with a great view and patio. The latte tasted great with okay latte art. Didn’t try the food.
Amazing breakfast sandwich and muffins. Ordering on Uber eats is also always quick and packaged perfectly. Always impressed with their food
It's too bad that my experience went so sour. Despite having purchased lunch and tipping (a purchase of $15) after about an hour I was rudely asked if I'd be ordering lunch and if not to leave. I have never experienced this and was offended as I did order lunch and was a paying customer, not to mention enjoying myself. I won't be returning.
We wanted some good coffee and a breakfast sandwich and this place did not disappoint! The sandwich (on a freshly baked biscuit!) Was amazing and the coffee (pilot coffee) was great! There are a lot of great coffee places in Kingston but this one is next level!
Fantastic food! Had the beef sandwich and cinnamon bun and they were both excellent. The atmosphere and water view make it even better. Would highly recommend to anyone!!
Beautiful spot to have a bite to eat, great people!
Wonderful water front lunch spot. Always the best sandwiches
Great coffee and food, location of patio is one of nicest in Kingston and often quiet
Juniper Cafe never fails me. It is constantly fresh, delicious, and unique. The location is so beautiful and the staff is very friendly/helpful. Overall great options for vegetarians too! Their vegan mushroom soup is to die for... You won't be disappointed!
Unfortunately a big disappointment. I am usually not critical of eateries, but my vegan sandwich was terrible and the bean mix unappealing and way too much bread. Sorry for this review but improvements are necessary in my humble opinion.
Amazing spot for studying or taking a break along a coastline hike. Highly recommended to try the kombucha on tap!
Testy food and nice personnel. Safety level is high.
Perfect!
One of the best Cafe in Kingston
Great coffee and good food with an absolutely stunning patio on that bank of Lake Ontario. The Adirondack chairs are the perfect place for a morning coffee
Lovely cafe by the water. Good food and drinks. A bit $$ but I think worth the experience. Love the beet salad in particular… and the double chocolate cookie
Love the cafe!!! Amazing coffee and food and beautiful riverside patio!!
Read about the Cafe in Kingston Life and just visited to have lunch. Great soup and sandwich combo with a spectacular view of Lake Ontario. Will be back for local microbrews on their outside patio.
Such a beautiful view and a calm environment. This hidden cafe of Kingston is a great place to spend fall afternoons after a walk along the coastline. Great coffee and pastry. Cinnamon rolls are to die for and, as a friend of mine said, their cookies deserve a Nobel Prize (peace probably). Not expensive and staff is really nice and chill.
Fresh, delicious sandwiches and a spectacular view.
Beautiful spot in the water.
Stunning location and decor. Staff could be a bit more friendly or helpful, but still a fantastic place regardless. Must go in Kingston!
Greatest Cortado in K'town
Great local food prepared fresh. Excellent local beer on tap. Lots of tasty deserts and baked goods. Nice people and you can't beat the view. Seriously one of the best spots on the water in Kingston.
It is a lovely cozy place next to the lake. They serve third-wave coffee and in house baked goods.
The location and ambiance was super cute and very relaxing. There breakfast sandwiches are delicious on so many levels. There coffee are not very large for there takeout service unfortuntely, but still delicious. Service was not friendly and basically spilt our coffees and other customers when placing them down, disappointing since this place has so much potential.
Charming cafe by the lake with a small outdoor patio & dining room. I picked up lunch to go and you can tell it's popular with Queens students and locals. I had the Mennonite salami sandwich and County Bounty soda in Lavender Lemon Basil. Great for a takeout picnic on a nice sunny day.
Gorgeous atmosphere to have a cup of latte matcha on Lake.
Great coffee, food and location beside the lake. Hard to beat this spot on a summer day!
Great breakfast sandwich.
Aesthetic cafe by the lake! Must try their cinnamon buns!
Awesome location, great coffee, cookies are great
Kingston best waterfront patio and #1 Cafe! Delicious soups, salads and sandwiches. The breakfast sandwich is a must try but order early as they often sell out. They serve pilot coffee and espresso (which tastes even better with a freshly baked salted chocolate chip cookie or ginger molasses cookie).
Great waterfront cafe that's a must visit in the spring summer. Menu changes weekly, but is quite good and the portion sizes will leave you full. Pretty cool communal table where you can meet new people or you can sit outside and enjoy a fantastic view.

My favorite café in Kingston. A hidden gem!
Great little cafe in bottom of Tett centre near the lake. Patio with Lakeview on the summer.
Found the drinks subpar and location was difficult to locate
Good atmosphere
Cozy little cafe on the waterfront on the southwest end of Queen's campus. Decent and consistent coffee with tasty baked goods. Go for the caffeine and treats stay for the views. The patio in the warmer months is a gem too.
One of Kingston most well hidden and beautiful cafes. This Cafe is tiny but it's got a certain level of quality you're not going to find anywhere else. It's right on the water and in the summertime I can only imagine how beautiful it is. The cafe itself has this wonderful old school charm to it with a modern-day cleanliness and cozy feeling. Muffins biscuits cookies and of course tea and coffee are available here. The only issue I had with the cafe was no laptops between 11 - 2. Which at first I felt was refreshing... but then realizing the situation and what the cafe owners believe... is the reason why I give this Cafe 4 the five stars. The service is friendly and prompt. The food is very well priced the location is quite clean let's in a lot of light and charming... However there is a lack of power outlets. And the cafe discourages laptops to be used at prime hours of lunch... This may be because they wouldn't want students camping cafe making it awkward for seniors and tourists... I don't blame them. So if you want to go back in time to a more civilized environment stop by at Juniper Cafe between 11 and 2 and you'll get a chance to smell the sweet tea leaves and have a wonderful View and good company to.
As Frances says, "the view can't be beat." And good food & drink to boot !
I like this place but they open way too late for a cafe/coffee shop. I recommend their vegetarian breakfast sandwich.
amazing location, great products, friendly staff!
Amazing view! The Cafe is also quite cute and has some nice drinks
Beautiful and quiet place to have breakfast or brunch by the water. We sat on the patio which was nice. I'm still dreaming of the Brie-L-T sandwich I had.
Good tasting food. Nice area to sit inside or out
Amazing little spot in a very trendy atmosphere. The latte (made with almond milk) hit the spot ????
Delicious sandwich on roasted garlic focaccia .... I could smell it from way down the hall. Add a huge ginger cookie, rich latte and waterfront patio and you've got a perfect and peaceful lunch destination.

Always make a stop at Juniper when visiting my family in Kingston. Great hot and cold beverages and the sandwiches are fresh and delicious. View ain't so bad either ;)
Great vibe, great coffee, great view, and great coffee.
Great coffee in a beautiful waterfront locale. The breakfast sandwiches are to die for.
When I travel I try and switch it up and try lots of places. Juniper got a rare double visit it was so good! I came and got takeout lunch one day and the spot was so cute I came back for breakfast the next day. Picture this medieval building right on the river with crashing waves (yes, I swear this happened) and fantastic warm lattes. Quintessential Kingston. Must visit. Get the milk-butter scone.
Service
Good luck finding the place
Extremely eco conscious and great tasting locally sourced food. On the pricy side but everything I've ordered has far surpassed my expectations. I had an INCREDIBLE roast beef sandwich. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating for dietary needs. Comfortable atmosphere and the no laptop between 11am-2pm policy is a cool thought.
Probably some of the best sandwiches in Kingston. Lovely atmosphere, especially in the summer. Drinks are serviceable.
Really wonderful lite Cafe in the tett centre.
(Translated) Great view with utterly delicious pastries! (Original) Superbe vue avec des pâtisseries tout à fait délicieuses !
Friendly staff and and fresh food. I would give them a five stars if they have more savory options not wvweyome wanna have eggs for breakfast!!. overall is a good place to be and good food!!
worth the try, cute location next to the water! yummy baked goodies!
Breakfast
(Translated) Great service! Delicious food and a unique setting in the region, definitely the place to stop for a break between Montreal and Toronto! 10/10 (Original) Super service ! Une nourriture délicieuse et un cadre unique dans la région, définitivement la place où s’arrêter pour une pause entre Montréal et Toronto! 10/10
Although all of their food is amazing they definitely have the best breakfast sandwiches in town! Also the staff is awesome and super friendly.
Good coffee and a nice view of the lake. Cute interior but I wish they had outlets for laptops considering it is on the queens campus and it would be nice to study in the café.
I love this place great food, coffee and views. Only downside is that sometimes all the tables are filled with one person on a computer.
The food, the ambiance were great.
Just had their roasted squash sandwhich and it was amazing! Super fresh ingredients, gluten free bread option - just what I was craving.
Extraordinary place and highly recommended! Delicious sandwiches and their cookies are definitely a must.
Great food, amazing ambiance, breath-taking view.
Worst cafe ever - the worst I’ve ever been in my life - the server was super rude - when asked for the wifi password, she said that she’s busy and doesn’t have time to answer! Seriously! Their coffee doesn’t even taste good - takes them for ever to prepare your coffee - imagine if you were to order food! You would have to wait for at least 30 minutes. Very overrated - will never go there again and will let all my friends know!
Hidden gem! Tasty food and a delicious tea selection. This cafe also has a gorgeous view of the lake!
The view is great but the food is hell expensive and sometimes there is nothing to eat. If you can "eat" views, then go there. I find, this place has an unnecessary hype because of its posh location. Otherwise, the food is never good.
Good coffee. View on the patio is nice. Would come again
Long lines are worth the wait. I do wish they had more seating. Yummy food!
Fresh and delicious food options! The lemon ginger drink is amazing, great with a ginger cookie if you love ginger like I do. The location is beautiful, right by the lake.
Great sandwiches, nice atmosphere, and fancy coffees. Can be busy; try to avoid lunch and breakfast. The food is very, very nice, but be aware you'll be paying about 11$ for an artisan sandwich (this isn't Tim Hortons). I recommend the chicken sandwich, the tomato basil soup, or a mocha. The macchiato is okay too.
Great coffee
Wonderful ambiance and beautiful view out onto the water! The food and drinks are delicious and I make an effort to come here whenever I’m passing by Kingston. A gem!
These folks have found their feet???? Great location and lovely lunches, sourcing locally grown produce.
One of Kingston's hidden jewels. Great locally sourced food and nice patio at water's edge. Good place to relax and enjoy a craft beer.
Good coffee and good service
Best location in Kingston. Amazing food and coffee.
The view is lovely
This is in a beautiful location and the food is tasty, but the service is horrible. I came here with my sister, who has a gluten allergy, and when she politely asked if they could use a different/ clean surface to prepare her meal (they advertise gluten free food on the menu) they refused to serve her and refused to even give her a salad. She told them that she was willing to assume the responsibility since eating at a restaurant is always a risk for someone with her allergy, and they became angry and said they needed to serve the next person. This is an unacceptable way to treat someone with an allergy that is out of their control, especially when they advertise gluten free alternatives on their menu. At the very least, they could have been apologetic and kind about being unable to accommodate her.
What a lovely spot, incredible food (trying the breakfast sandwich is a must) and the staff is so wonderful! Highly recommend!
Lovely cafe! Had their hot chocolate and vegetable breakfast sandwich. It was great!
Fab location right next to the river. Fresh made food which was good. Need a bit more attention to cleaning and sanitizing tables and chairs after a client leaves.
Love this place! Great food, friendly atmosphere. Tip: get a chocolate merengue cookie.
Great cafe hidden on Kingston waterfront! Delicious food, cozy environment and exceptional views ????????
Great food with a view!
We loved the place. Cozy, quaint, romantic, rustic and modern at the same time. Plus the waterfront view was amazing. We haven't tried the food but the coffee was great. Affogato is a must try! Server was friendly and covid protocols are in place. Sanitizers, mask was required, contact tracing was being implemented. It was a really good experience. Will definitely come back if in the area. And they serve alcohol, too!
Super cute cafe with nice light food options and a great lake view from the patio!
The best local cafe in all of Kingston!
Excellent coffee and service within a beautiful historic building right down on the water. My daughter loves this place, and she introduced me to it when I visited her. It's a real "Port in the Storm" on a cold winter walk home from Queens University , or a lovely place to have a gorgeous patio view of Lake Ontario , with a nice glass of wine and a delicious lunch in the spring, summer or fall. It is not cheap, but the food is locally sourced and lovingly prepared , great quality.
Views of the lake are amazing! And so are the cinnamon buns!
Juniper cafe is our favourite place!
Relaxed, tasty food and a couple of craft beers on tap. Also a wonderful view of Lake Ontario.
Good looking ans friendly staff The food is really good and portion over my expectation We were a group of 14 and the service was real fast If your looking for a cafe or a refreshment this is the place Plus the view is amazing
(Translated) Excellent sandwich and salad Best coffee in Kingston (Original) Sandwich et salade excellents Le meilleur café de Kingston
If you want to walk along Lake Ontario and sip some hot coffee, Juniper Cafe is your spot. Amazing staff and great food. You won’t be disappointed.
The Best Coffee in Kingston!!
Really tasty salads and sandwiches! Very kind staff and great atmosphere. Good little patio area overlooking the lake.
Very special atmosphere and quality fresh foods.

2020.09.09. We met our family in Kingston at a cafe "Juniper Cafe". The cafe is on the water lovely view. We had Americanos and espresso. We tasted their vegan sweet loaf and dates Vegan sweet balls. If you are in Kingston, the place is a must visit. The terrace is very nice and awesome view.
Located in a beautiful space right along Lake Ontario. The space itself is beautiful and the food is very good. I have never had anything to eat there that I disliked. They also have a beautiful patio in the summer. The coffee is not the greatest, but they offer a wide selection of cold drinks and as well as local beer which is nice.
Great coffee and even better food. The veg breakfast sandwich puts other Kingston cafes to shame.
Love this place, delicious, fresh food, warm and cozy inside with an awesome waterfront patio in the summer. Chicken sandwich with spelt berry salad is my favourite lunch in Kingston. Cappuccino and lattes are good too.
Food is fantastic. Nice place to go for lunch when the weather is good and you want b to sit outside.
My friends and I were very disappointed by the owner's policies relating to students. Despite purchasing beverages and food, after 30 minutes of sitting on the patio discussing work we were asked to leave by one of the servers there. She said that she was asking us politely to leave shortly because the owner didn't like students taking up tables. She informed us that she was pre-warning us because the owner would be by shortly and would be much less pleasant. We witness many other tables of paying students be forced out of the cafe while we finished our food and beverages and promptly left. Overall, terrible experience as a student, considering the amount of support we have given the cafe in previous years.
Breakfast
Nice quiet spot! Smaller and gets smaller in winter as it gets colder and the porch can't be used
Really cool location, very small. $$$
Ordered and waited for 45 min to be told they ran out of bread. Gave the refund and a sandwich but it took too long and they refused the refund initially. Bad managing really.
Wish Kingston had more places like this.
Beautiful setting on the water. Salad was dry, and lacked flavor, and quite small for the money.
This is my favorite lunch spot in all of Kingston. The food is great, there's always space available, and the patio is beautiful. The cafe also doesn't allow laptops over lunch time to ensure there's space for people to have lunch.
You have to get the breakfast sandwich. Excellent.
A gem in Kingston!!!
The food is really good and it’s a beautiful spot in the tett centre. The lack of outlets and wifi makes it a less than ideal workplace, knocking it down a star.
Sandwiches and beer were delightful and refreshing, brewed coffee not so much.
Great location and great food.
Great location. Nice view outside.
Very tasty, fresh and filling. A really good lunch option by the lake. A little pricey, but that's what it takes for good ingredients.
Very busy little cafe on the water. Makes for a great place to meet people and take in the beauty.
Service
Great coffee and food. Friendly staff and baristas that know how to pull a great shot.
Great place to study on a Sunday morning.
simply the best
Great coffee
Fantastic local place with an incredible view.
Love this beautiful waterside cafe! And the barista Jordan was so helpful when I asked a random question about coffee preparation - my oat milk latte was so delicious too!
Fantastic food - but what an atmosphere. The indoor aesthetics are gorgeous, and a patio on the waterfront.
My friend and I were very disappointed with the service. We were on the patio when we brought out our laptops because we noticed that it slowed down and assumed we wouldn’t be taking up table spaces because there was plenty of other tables and it was 30 minutes til the “laptop free” time was over and we also purchased food and beverages. Yet we were told to put them away which wasn’t the problem, it was the fact that she said it very arrogantly. We than also went in to grab a to-go-box and was addressed with “what else do you want now” in a arrogant voice. Overall I was very disappointed with the customer service, the staff treated us very disrespectfully.
Delicious sandwich and a great atmosphere. Loved the old china cup and saucer.
Great coffee and nice little spot for coffee by the water.
It's unfortunate that I can not read the news on my laptop while I have lunch here - it I can read the paper. Hmmmm Juniper should get with the times.
Beside the great food, I love the atmosphere and friendly staff. I also love the decor, it's so retro and romantic. The chandeliers and cups are the same my grandma had, so in a way, every time I visit this cafe it is as if I've entered back into my childhood. So lovely!!
(Translated) a good cafe with an exceptional view of the lake. (Original) un bon café avec une vue exceptionnel sur le lac.
Customer service here is top notch. They use Pilot coffee beans for their espresso based drinks, super good. They make a mean breakfast sandwich. Can’t beat the view. Free parking on weekends when there is not an event. If there’s an event, it’s $5.
Dine in
Roast beef sandwich is always a winner. Breakfast is less consistent. Today was an off day, the egg was over poached and the jam was too saucy and not zingy.
Cute restaurant, with great food!
Loved it! Stop on route to Toronto. Beautiful setting right by the water, located in the arts building (had a bit of trouble finding it). Coffee was good, cheddar biscuit and blueberry muffin were even better. Wished I lived closer, so I could visit often. Highly recommend.
Great little spot for light fare, right on the waterfront.
Great
Wow. Breakfast sandwiches!
Giving the Juniper Cafe 5 stars even though it wasn't open today. It has such a great reputation amongst the locals and the workers at the Isabel Bader and Tett centres. Check it out and enjoy a drink overlooking Kingston's beautiful waterfront ????
Awesome sandwiches
Beautiful Cafe but the view is spectacular
Service has declined... Still the best waterfront patio in K-town.
We waited far too long to visit the new restaurant after enjoying the catering from Epicurious last summer at a corporate event I attended. Spectacular location, ample (municipal) parking beside the centre, food is amazing. Get there early for lunch as it fills up fast. Licensed and provides a nice variety of meal choices.
A lovely cafe. Me and my partner come here mostly for the waterfront. It is a little on the pricier side, and there is always a wait, but it is reflective of their no/little waste operation and small scale. Their baked goods have never disappointed.
Great little cafe in a lovely waterfront setting. Good coffee!
Fresh food, friendly staff. Limestone building with the lake visible from rhe windows, very nice.
Good spot to grab lunch. Nice meal options and good view of the water.
The sandwiches are totally worth it. The breakfast sandwich is to die for. I just wish it was a little bigger. Definitely recommend though.
Tasty but expensive food, "meh" coffee. Atmosphere is pleasant and the view is nice, but if it's a hot day, I suggest staying inside: with no shade and no umbrellas, the metal outdoor tables get extremely hot.
Delicious food, but not many places to sit when the patio is closed.
Recently visited the cafe in Kingston and has such a serene location that you can sit for hours and chat with your friends. The view from this cafe is really awesome. They have some really good items on their menu to choose from . Excellent coffee . Really enjoyed everything .
Very friendly staff and ideal location for me time
Great food, staff, and location! Really busy on weekends but definitely worth the wait! Cheers!
Beautiful cafe with beautiful views. The little patio is the best place to relax when it's warm outside.
(Translated) The best coffee in Kingston. Very good teas. Cookies and other sweets are delicious. The staff very friendly. (Original) El mejor café en Kingston. Los tés muy buenos. Las galletas y otros dulces están deliciosos. El personal muy amable.
Great local food. Simple sandwiches and salads, but good flavours and lots of care taken to make them delicious. There isn't anywhere with a better view. Very friendly staff.
WATER.FRONT.PATIO.
Came here with a friend because I heard so many good things about it. It's such a cute café with a great location and an amazing atmosphere on the inside. It's not that big, but it's so aesthetically pleasing and it's really just an experience being there. The drinks and desserts they serve are good, too.
I came here and ordered a simple chicken sandwich. I waited for about 20 minutes before asking a waiter for my order, as I felt this took long for a sandwich. She went back to the kitchen and I heard no response for the next 10 minutes. By half an hour, I wanted my money back as I felt I had waited too long. I spoke with the manager and asked for a refund, and she did apologize and mention that I can have the sandwich for free as well as my refund. However, I was disappointed with her professionalism as I felt she cared more about bookkeeping than satisfying a customer who felt they had already waited too long. The debit machine wasn't working (I originally paid with debit) and she then insisted to spend another 10 minutes of my time trying to call the POS system administrators rather take my request to refund me in cash. At some point, she even told me that she was short-staffed due to COVID (which I completely understand, but I was upset at this point that she was continuing to take time away from my day) and asked me to "order online" next time. I thought this latter comment was rude as the customer can't assume that the restaurant would be so slow with their order (as well as seeing at least 5 people who ordered after me get their food). The sandwich was great, but the management needs to seriously take customers as a priority.
Incredibly slow service. It's self-serve but the staff are not able to manage basic orders. Either they have too few staff working or they are not well-organized. Which is unfortunate because the location and view is wonderful. And the coffee was terrible!!
Such a cute little spot! Food was amazing, so fresh. Staff was super friendly.
Very busy which is a good sign. Coffee was great, and the pork belly sandwich was so tasty, so many different flavors. My only complaint is that the table wasn't clean. There was something sticky on it which one of the servers couldn't get out. But at least they tried. Still a great experience.
Very nice setting. Delicious food prepared with all local ingredients. Very friendly staff.
Delicious food and lovely atmosphere. I have enjoyed coming here and bringing visitors from away on several occasions. However, on my most recent visit the staff member working at the counter was texting on her phone and was quite rude--seemed to be annoyed by all customers, which did not make me feel welcome. It is too bad because it is such a lovely spot!
Beautiful location close to water, awesome sandwiches, nice vibe!
If you like beets try the beet salad. It's really good ????
Meal type
Such a gorgeous café. Great coffee and the occasional gluten free treat. The view of the water is hard to beat!
Good food!
Yummy salads, great cookies, very pleasant cheerful person behind the counter! Definitely going back!
Amazing. Coffee or beer by the lake. Yes please.
Great service, amazing food, spectacular view. They know their coffees!
Great spot by the lake. Decent spreads.
Such a wonderful hidden gem. Hard to know that Juniper Cafe exists, unless you've already been in the area on foot. A good selection of wonderful food/drinks. My favourite is probably their breakfast sandwich. Also a fantastic location right on the lake. The view is fantastic from the patio.
Had a soup and sandwich combo, very large portion and was very tasty. Had to pack the second half of the sandwhich.
Great
Friendly staff, nice location. Very limited seating and long waits on weekends.
Small quaint cafe located on the banks of lake ontario. Calm environment; eat inside or outside. Capacity for 12 people inside, but most were outside today. Tried a soup & sandwich combo today. Chicken sandwich and tomato basil soup - delicious! Looking forward to trying something else next time. I'm not a coffee drinker but i bet it's tasty. It was $18 which is fair for a healthy nutritious meal these days. Parking is $2, feed the meter but not coins. Credit card or honk mobile app available a short walk away.
Honestly, the buttermilk biscuits are delicious...but other than that I think it's just a lot of hype over another fancy coffee place.
Nice food. Great patio
The best breakfast sandwich you’ll find. (seriously)
Even if this cafe is on Queen's University campus, no laptop are allowed inside. Very disappointed. They should put a time limit, not a laptop restriction. How am I supposed to study? Starring in the void while sipping their coffee? Also they are hard to find, they should put up more signs and posters. Otherwise the ambiance seemed nice.
Excellent food, and cozy atmosphere. Perfect for studying, working, or meeting up with friends for lunch!
While the food is good, I find Juniper to be inordinately expensive. A relatively simple lunch for two consisting of a salad plate, a breakfast sandwich and a soup that we shared and 2 lattes came to $41.46. No meat, no alcohol. Then I noticed that the credit card machine was programmed to accept tips of 15%, 20%, 25% or none. Really!? 25% for cafeteria style service in a tight noisy atmosphere? I find that to be downright arrogant. Then to make matters worse, I ordered a latte to go - half cafe / half decaf. The price on the menu board was $3.50 but I was charged $6.78 for a medium (grande) Starbucks sized latte. I inquired about the difference in price and was told that the take-out version (listed as T/G) was $4.00 but then because they had to pour another pair of shots (for the decaf) and waste one the charge was upped to $6.78. It would have been appropriate to tell the buyer this in advance of the purchase. It also would have been appropriate to offer me the extra shot instead of sending it down the drain on my tab.
GOSH I LOVE THIS PLACE
Such a cozy atmosphere and delicious coffee and food!
Best view in town!
Amazing food, coffee, and atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great view of lake Ontario.
The restaurant was nothing fancy but the patio in the summer would be great. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. It arrived quickly, and although being a touch expensive it was worth it. It was fairly buat when there but no issues finding seating. We will be back, definitely in the summer to enjoy the patio.
I’ve tried all the drinks and the Mocha is hands down the best one. It’s unreal. The mocha is so good. Tastes like silky creamy chocolate.
it was absolutely beautiful and the food and coffee was delicious. a hidden gem
A nice little hidden gem in Kingston. My boyfriend had the oatmeal cookie and I got to try a piece. It was really good. The latte was delicious too! The decor is awesome!
Local food made beautifully by friendly, foodie staff served right on the shoes of Lake Ontario. Licensed patio. Creative chefs. Staff know the farmers supplying the ingredients. They know their regional wines, local beers and gorgeous charcuterie. Great veg options at all times and delicious fair trade coffee made with great care.
Great place for a coffee.
One of my favourite spots in Kingston!! The sandwiches are amazing and the view can’t be beat!!
Great place to hang out and unwind! The food was amazing and the patio even better!
Great place
Beautiful place!
Nice space and patio. Great food and coffee.
Excellent spot so close to the water!
A hidden gem in Kingston! We were recommended to visit this patio by a local and we were not disappointed. Really peaceful and good coffee.
Great food with lots of gluten free options. Do you know how rare that is?
Such a beautiful atmosphere and many healthy options as well as baked goods to treat yourself. Staff seemed friendly and the food portion was great.

Dozens of visits....5 stars.. .always. shhhh
The counter people could be friendlier food was very good
This is a cozy and welcoming cafe by the lake. We’ve enjoyed our stay here very much. Coffee, delicious sandwiches and sweet treats and so much more. You can even buy small gifts like coffee beans and soaps. They have a patio with a gorgeous view. Very friendly staff! It’s a really nice place to meet with friends, to work a little bit or just enjoy yourself.
