Best old school coffee shop in town. A classic staple of Kingston, this place has been a hidden gem of the locals for ages. REAL coffee, donuts, muffins and baked goods that are absolutely massive, but also fresh made on location. Open 24 hours and serve a variety of comfort foods like soup, sandwiches and pie.

These are in high demand with locals, so go in the morning when the stock is high, or the selection may be low, especially by mid to late afternoon. If you’re travelling between Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal, you have to make this place your first stop. Better yet, only stop. If there was a Champion of the Universe meant for doughnuts, this place is it. 5 stars are way too low of a rating, and once you try one of their famous homemade doughnuts you’ll have to agree. I can’t pinpoint any one as a favourite, so you’ll have to keep coming back and sample for yourself.

An older female employee actually screamed at my sister from the counter and embarrassed her so much she left crying. The situation could have been handled much more professionally. The lady could have walked over and politely informed my sister she cant eat other food in the store although she purchased a drink and donut. Instead employee yelled over the counter "come on really you cant eat that here" and made her cry. Absolutely disgusting and our family will not be back.

This place is a landmark in Kingston. I grew up on the donuts and other sweets from here. Donuts are still made fresh here daily unlike other places nk names mentioned lol that use freezer burnt(in my opinion)frozen items here the owner still makes them fresh. Sometimes on summer mornings at the wee hrs if you walk thru the neighborhood you can smell the wonderous smells of the donuts etc being baked. Ahhh the wonderment of it. Wish some one would make a candle scent of it. Lol. And their coffee is the best. Whether your home town is Kingston or your just visiting a stop here is a must. You will not be disappointed. You might even find yourself taking home a few extra for later. Lol. Don't pass them by at least stop In and say Hi.

The best donuts I've had in a long long time - all the way back to my childhood when I would walk to the independently owned bakery on the corner for fresh donuts and cheese buns. Their donuts are freshly baked, moist, soft, a good size and just the right level of sweet (unlike the junk they sell at Tim's). Great selection of flavors and for a great price. Will be stopping in again soon!

THIS is how dounts should be made. Fresh baked everyday with a huge variety. Any flavour you see at Tim's this place has, only bigger, better, and for the same price! You can buy them individually or get them by the 1/2 and full dozen. They also have other pastries like cinnamon rolls, carrot cake, nanaimo bars, lemon squares, etc. The cinnamon rolls are the size of a dinner plate and perfect for sharing, although I don't know why you'd share. There are always locals in the store and the staff are very friendly and patient, which is good because it can take some time to choose a dozen when they all look so good.

Parking available. Almost open all the time, even all night, so it's great to stumble here for a late night snack. BEST donuts, cookies, and other baked treats in Kingston - my friends ask where I go when I bring donuts to gatherings because they are all surprised how good they are. Very fast service. It's not really a young person scene - mostly older folks who share life stories over coffee. Most of the workers are friendly. Could Improve: their bagels with cream cheese are sometimes warmed up and spread on the spot, but sometimes it's grabbed cold from sitting in the fridge.

Ordered a large coffee, turkey sandich and two donuts. Coffee was 10/10 would come back more if i lived in kingston. Coconut donut 10/10 perfect texture, boston cream 9/10 i was not a fan of the cream recipe. The turkey sandwich was 3/10, the lettuce was most of the sandwich, very little turkey and literally nothing else. Coffee and donuts worth coming back for, dont get the sandwiches.

The best donuts around. Fresh baked, they always seem to be putting out a fresh tray. Didn't try the sandwiches or meal options, but they looked good. The coffee is decent, nothing to brag about but typical for the type of restaurant. Staff is always friendly. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy and there might be some colourful locals hanging out here. The main draw here is donuts, and you won't find better anywhere else. I've gone out of my way on a few occasions to have one.

I get told to show up earlier. Why do I need to show up early to a donut shop early to get donuts that I want? Brutal. Donuts are great. Just gotta show up at 6am in order to get what you're looking for.

Went on a Sunday morning and there wasn't much of a crowd when we got in there, so the staff was able to take care of us right away. Very friendly folks in there, who not only weren't worried about working mother's day, they actually preferred it, as their kids were grown, so when they come home, they have to do nothing! I didn't get a donut, but instead went for the cherry strudel. Good call. It was bursting with flavor and had an amazing crust to it which is the secret to an amazing pastry. I'll definitely be back when I come back up to Kingston.

Best donut place in Kingston! I have tried all the donuts and some of their other pastries. I personally love their Boston cream, Bavarian cream, French cruller and eclairs. The crullers have a cake like texture and the donuts have a light and airy feeling to them. Im pretty picky about fillings and creams, but these guys do it perfectly - not to heavy, not too sweet. The donuts have a homemade, rustic taste and if you want a taste of nostalgia, coffee way is the way to go!

Like everyone says, these are life-changing donuts. They're the best version of classic donuts – you won't find any wacky, crazy flavours but everything here is outstanding. The cherry crueller is a must-have, and I never order donuts like that from anywhere else.

I figure that I should leave a review since I'm here nearly everyday. UNBEATABLE donuts. Nobody ever thinks that the Plain donut could be that good until you've had one from here. Huge selection of donuts for everybody and always baked fresh. Crispy, Sweet, Savory, you got it. If you're not an early riser and can't beat the morning rush, fresh donuts coming out usually peak around 4pm. Besides their donuts, they also have a large variety of desserts (e.g., chocolate croissants, cheesecake, tarts, etc.) that you shouldn't miss out on either. They also have Deli selections like sandwiches, soups, and sausage rolls. Coffee Way is one of Kingston's best kept secrets that students from the University district don't tend to know about. But once they do, they always come back.

But the staff didn't have the courtesy to politely tell us that...oh no instead they decided to get annoyed themselves and make it clear that we were not welcome. This was despite us trying to get our toddler, who wasn't crying but was just EXCITED at the thought of donuts, to calm down. Bulls*** customer service. Used to praise this place. When I brought it up with the ladies behind the counter, I was told that she has other customers to deal with. Save yourself the trouble and go to a Tim Hortons.

I'm writing this review because they have the cherry cruillers and that's enough to keep this place open. Tim Hortons needs to bring those back but even then, the best cherry cruillers will always be made at Coffee way. Keep up the great work

This is one of Kingston's hidden gems. From the outside Coffee Way may look like a simple cafe, it is clearly much more then that. The donuts are made fresh and you can see them making them through the back window. The staff are great and the atmosphere is homey and comfortable. This place, is to my knowledge is the only family owned coffee shop left in Kingston. Also the only one that still makes their donuts from scratch, in house, fresh daily. The 'special' is a 12 inch donut, that is absolutely the biggest donut I have personally ever seen. The Honey Crueller is pure ambrosia, and I have not had a single donut or fancy here that wasn't the best one I have ever had. Coffee is decent and hot, and there is plenty of seating and the perfect view of local talent 'just being themselves' in the neighborhood.

There was only one lady working when we went so took a bit of time to get it but it was well worth. My friend went there yesterday to buy donuts as usual but there were no donuts so she decided to stay until the donuts are ready. The woman who is working there came and told her aren’t you going to order something? She told her I am waiting till any donuts are out. The woman talked to her in a very rude way and told her to go out since she is not ordering something now!!! We have bought hundreds of donuts from them and refered then to all of our friends. So, my friend was not staying because she is homeless or something she just wanted donuts because Surprisingly they are a donuts shop! Good selection (usually) of cookies, cakes, squares and other things baked on-site. Usually more than enough seating, and lots of parking. Located in an outdoor plaza which is also home to a pizza place and Chinese restaurant. The reason for the 4 stars, and not 5, is that they do seem to struggle at times keeping up with demand. Consequently, selection can sometimes be wanting.

They also sell a giant donut that I personally wouldn't recommend one individual to consume all of at once (you could if you want to), but that's definitely not a complaint. Coffee Way is a very low fuss kind of establishment, and let's be honest, that's how you know that it's the food that has kept everyone coming back. It's been a staple in Kingston for a while now, and I highly recommend you make your way slightly out of the downtown core to try it at least once if you enjoy donuts and pastries. Also, ask if there are items in the back. They don't have eclairs on the menu but they do sell those too. Also really big.

Made a special trip while visiting Kingston to go to Coffee Way Donuts. If you head over around 1 or 2 in the morning you are treated to a fresh, warm and made in house assortment of donuts. Let me tell you, these are amazing donuts, and definitely worth staying up into the early hours of the morning for. They have a variety of other desserts and pastries, and the staff were lovely! They have classic donuts along with a couple unique ones such as the special, the toasted coconut, the canadian cream, and a lemon custard filled one .My favorite part was that you can peak into the kitchen and watch them make the donuts! Even if your not willing to stay up till 2am for donuts, I would recommend stopping by early in the morning before they run out, definitely a place to hit up while in Kingston!

Every now and then a review of Coffee Way crossed my path, so when I finally was in the neighbourhood and saw the place - I grabbed a couple donuts to try. Absolutely outstanding freshness, taste, quality, and selection - I cant wait to try more. We had the pictured chocolate + coconut donut, an apple fritter and a cinnamon twist. The apple fritter was heavenly with good size chunks of real fruit- a must try for any fritter lover!

Always great simple food & for reasonable prices. Think of this place the way Timmies was back in the 80s when it had more quality food, but even better! Went here in search of good doughnuts and was not disappointed. They are fresh, springy and there are so many flavours. There are fritters, special of the day, sprinkle doughnuts and more. They average around $1.40. In addition there are also other sweet treats such as brownies, strudels, muffins and cookies. There's also a small lunch section for quick bites like bagels with cheese and jamaican beef patties. But the primary reason to go is the sweet section! However, it is evident these doughnuts are popular so you want to make sure to get there as early as possible. The place was clean and the staff friendly.

Best doughnuts in the city. They're made fresh over night from scratch so if you're up and you're up for it, come in around 3am and they will still be warm and gooey. There is even a window where you can see them baking in the kitchen. They also have good coffee, muffins, sandwiches and lunch food, and other squares and desserts. Easily the best donuts in Kingston. The owner still works over night to hand make fresh donuts for each morning. Generous sized, real ingredients, and friendly staff. The blueberry fritters are so full of delicious filling, it's amazing. It's the way donuts were made before people forgot and started eating factory mixed frozen donuts! His sausage roles have a mildly spicy minced filling, and are pretty tasty heated up. A classic corner donut shop. It's worth the visit!
