Beautiful patio space. Incredible service. Food was unbelievable!
The best Italian restaurant
Excellent food. Excellent staff. Excellent service. Just a totally wonderful place.
WOW, what a special place. First off, I was really impressed by the value, drinks are SO reasonably priced, like $10 for a glass of Prosecco at a VERY nice resto HELLO -- we got 3 drinks, 12 oysters, 1 main, and one special (which was …
Some of the best food I've had in a long time. Worth the price and ambience, absolutely fantastic!
Chez Piggy is a mainstay of the Kingston food scene, and I have been for lunch on several occasions and been very pleased. However, last night I went with my family (party of 11) and I walked away incredibly underwhelmed and disappointed. It started with a server who made mistakes when informing us of the specials (so that when 5 of our party received their meals it was not what was expected). Then when I asked for a minor substitution of one of my sides I was made to feel like I had asked for international crisis intervention. She continued to be rude and dismissive of the guests I was dining with, which included parents and grandparents. I don't think that it is crazy to expect that your water be refilled during your meal - I guess I was wrong! When the food came it was sub-par and not worth the prices being charged. I will say that four of our party enjoyed their meals, however the rest of us were not satisfied. Overall the service and quality of food was not worth the $600-700 bill that was paid! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone eating out in Kingston - there are so many better options!!
A lovely evening on the courtyard patio. This is the Summer Fun dessert a light lemon custard on a white cake base with raspberries, an edible begonia flower and a sprinkling of thyme leaves. The soup was a delicious leek and Stilton cheese combination.
What a wonderful restaurant. Service is excellent, the food is amazing. Duck wings not so meaty but worth the taste. Had the steak cheese sandwich which was one of the greatest steak sandwiches I ever had. The atmosphere was quaint and the price was reasonable for what we received. Will chose to eat here again when in town.
Even on a day when it was very busy, we had a great lunch here. Good food and good service. We had mushrooms on sourdough toast and a warm trout Dallas. Both were delicious.
We went for supper. We were seated on the main level. We waited then someone brought us water after a while of waiting. Then we waited 15 MINUTES and no one came to ask us what we wanted to drink if anything! There was also a lot of traffic downstairs yet we were still ignored. Also, there was NO ONE ELSE where we were sitting so it's not like no one had time! Plus the upstairs was closed so we could not grab another table. Not very amused by that experience especially for the price you are paying for the food.
Great food, beautiful courtyard.
Food was excellent too bad everything else wasn't. Portions small, prices high, attitude full on, waited to seat w/ reso, waited to eat, told everyone must sign in which is not a bylaw 1 per table is bylaw, did not check to see if we all …
Service was amazing. Plenty of food. Clean place
Always a favorite in Kingston. We arrived early for our reservation and the place is always busy (always best to make a reservation) not because they're slow. Rather because the food is very good, service is knowledgeable and not rushed. They made us extremely comfortable in a couple of nice chairs and brought us cocktails. I started with a delicious tomato soup that was just perfect, followed by a beef main with perfectly cooked veggies and potatoes. The pumpkin pie was terrific, and I don't like pumpkin pie. However when they make it (Pan Chengo likely, which is just fine) I somehow like it. Not to be missed if searching for a just perfect restaurant in Kingston. Upscale without being highbrow or narcissistic.
Stopped in for lunch while passing through the area. Had a great meal on the patio. Staff were attentive and helpful.
You are a good restaurant with a great staff and plenty of atmosphere, but PLEASE PLEASE update your menu. I want to see new selections, the old ones, are well, old.
During the pandemic, a coworker of mine and his partner had intended to travel to France to celebrate a milestone birthday and anniversary, but for obvious reasons had to cancel. As a surprise for his birthday and in an attempt to cheer …
We got recommended Chez piggy from a friend and it did not disappoint. Fish cakes were delicious, but could've been crispier for the texture. Steak tartare was also delicious, but could have used A touch of salt for best flavour. The frites and lemon garlic aioli were unreal. Short ribs were mouth watering, accompanied with the mushrooms demiglaze and spun potatoes. duck confit was all off the bone and its sides were succulent as they were sweet and satisfying Over all dinner was top notch. Our server was also really cool and down to earth. He was on the ball even though he was swamped with 4 tables and still managed to serve us in a timely manner. Would recommend
Excellent place. The decor is very nice. The atmosphere is very good. The food served here is very delicious. I liked the place very much. I will obviously visit again for sure.
Cozy and classy spot. Perfect spot for any small social or business gathering.
"Lovin' spoonful" very cozy courtyard, good food and great beer! We ❤d it!
Been here a few times and every visit has been wonderful. Great food, great service. Lovely location. One of the top places to eat in Kingston. Recommended.
I Had a great time, the atmosphere was beautiful, the waitress was kind and professional. Now let's talk about the food, I was pleased to see how versatile the menu was. If i may add some suggestions to the chef regarding the Mediterranean menu (That's the one I had); the food needed a little more salt, add more harissa to your Potatoes with Harisa, (I couldn't taste the harissa at all), for the Meze, it's better to use flat dishes for the presentation, it was hard to dip the pita in those deep bowls, never never add cumin to the eggplants dip it looses all the babaghanooj flavor and if you can find dry red pepper flakes for the daa, it'll taste better. My daughter got the Scallops with Black Rice, it was great but too much butter to the point my daughter couldn't eat it. These are my suggestions, the place is still a great place to go for a dinner
Excellent food and atmosphere. Lots of unique offerings. We had scallops and duck - cannot say enough about them. Service was bumpy at jump, we were the first dinner sitting so likely the reason, it improved. Otherwise would have been a five.
The smoke show beef sandwich was amazing! Small but good craft beer selection on tap. Super cool old building. Nice patio.
The patio is so charming and peaceful. Love the variety in the menu and the use of local foods. Great staff, covid friendly and delicious food!
Our tastebuds were singing. Great afternoon sandwiches. Can't wait to take another road trip to Kingston ????????
It was our first time at this wonderful restaurant. We were not disappointed between the oysters, the spring roll salad, pizza of the day and gnocchi. Very pleasant atmosphere, our server was accommodating and cheerful. It was a lovely lunch. Will definitely return with some more friends and/or family. Thank you.
Good service and ambience, very clean, but very small portions and poached eggs undercooked.
Looking forward to eating in Kingston for our 10 year anniversary. Going to some of our top Restaurants. 1. AquaTerra Chef is amazing & the waterfront views are outstanding and they have comfortable chairs that are not made of wood. *Too bad our cozy River Mill house is fully booked. 2. Booked the Casa Domenico for fine Italian dining, Tried to book Chez Piggy again, but since we are in the Red zone the owner has declined to have us. That's okay if he does not want our money now , we remember restaurants like this, and they will never get our money again! Rated only a 4 Star so we are good with that and will black ball them in the future.
Loved this place! Hidden in a back courtyard in downtown Kingston, surrounded by old limestone buildings and a lot of history. You can dine outside in the secret courtyard or inside in the cozy upstairs or downstairs. We loved our food, which is reasonably priced. They have a good selection of beer, including craft beers, and wines. Service was great. Next time we'll be back for their well-known Sunday brunch.
Much more expensive than it used to be. Great wine and beer selection. The suck wing appetizers are delicious. However we decided to move on for what used to be an affordable Dini g place has gone a bit too upscale and upmarket for me. Seemed busy enough though so they'll be fine.
This spot has a great ambiance- We sat inside downstairs. The music was great, not overpowering for a family or friend dinner. Great selection of meals and interesting cocktails, and beautiful fresh bread. The service was excellent, and the food was so delicious! Highly recommend the micro greens salad- it was so so good!
Had a great evening dinner at Chez Piggy! Food was excellent and quick. Great local drink selection. Had a nice pint of Matron. All the staff made sure we were very comfortable in the outdoor patio while maintaining a safe distance from …
I have eaten here a few times and have yet to be disappointed. All the staff are personable, service is quick, and the food is excellent. As a fine dining restaurant, the food is obviously slightly pricier than the average but well worth it. There are vegan and vegetarian options on the menu as well - including dessert! I would definitely recommend Chez Piggy for a date night or special occasion.
Chez Piggy was terrific. Large but cosy patio, great food, and comforted that they took COVID protocols seriously. Well done!
Love this place, it is neat and clean. The menu offers a variety of flavors - Greek, Italian, Asian and more. The sandwiches are big and delicious. The potato chips are warm and fresh. The nachos is loaded, it is a meal on its own. The …
The motto of Ontario is "more to discover" and this place certainly lives up to that. Really good menu, including some great and well executed vegetarian choices: I've eaten plenty of mediocre pasta in other restaurants but tonight's dish punched above its weight. Best chocolate desert I've ever had, not too sweet but very special. And just when we thought the night couldn't get any better, the (friendly and efficient) waitress recommended taking the free ferry to wolf island for sundowner. Turned a great evening into a perfect one.
Omg... delicious. Our server was sooooo great!!!
Excellent service, tasty meals, delicious desserts, pleasant ambience. The only negative would be the price, but nice for a treat.
Went here for lunch and the service and food were outstanding. Dog friendly patio as well. Make a reservation because this place is busy.
Absolutely loved what the food we had at Chez Piggy. The young woman who was assisting us at our table was truly a delight. I don't think I could say enough about the food. I asked the kitchen to adjust my plate and they did so at no charge. The only thing that was difficult was finding the place. They are located in an alleyway with another business and the signage is not good to show you where one business ends and the other begins. patiently getting through that is totally worth it.
Amazing restaurant in downtown kingston, it was an old horse stable so it has a really unique and chill vibe! The food is incredibly tasty, well balanced, and reasonably priced. The waiting staff know their stuff and are very accommodating.
My wife and I visited Kingston for our Anniversary and a good friend of ours told us to go to Chez Piggy for dinner. We could not have been more happy with his recommendation! The food was absolutely delicious, from the starter through to …
I took my wife here for her birthday dinner. It's a lovely spot set within Rochleau Court. It has a great patio with an very nice atmosphere. The menu is innovative, with unique choices that I doubt you'll find elsewhere. The prices are on the higher end, but for the experience and atmosphere, well worth it.
Amazing spot! Great people, awesome, unique atmosphere and good food. Enjoyed a fantastic lunch, have the fresh oysters and the garlic shrimp for sure, and stay for the service! Fantastic.
Visited in January and received incredible service and the food was delicious. I had the table d'hôte which I would highly recommend. My colleagues chose from the regular menu and were also very happy with their choices.
I can't say enough good things about these guys. So accommodating and helpful, and wonderful food. These guys are the best.
I have been going to Chez Piggy and it never disappoints. I just came home from one of the best lunches I have ever had. Some of the staff have been working in the restaurant since it opened and that also says something great about the place and how it is run. Chez Piggy is an institution in Kingston, you won't be disappointed.
Very nice staff and a perfectly cooked steak!
Chez Piggy is one of my favorite restaurants ever. The menu offers great selections, including vegan options, but not so many that you have to read pages of choices and worry if they're all good. Everything on the menu is prepared perfectly. Sitting outside under the umbrellas is perfect in the summer. Can't wait to go back.
Great food. Nice people
One of my fav spots...always love their food, service and atmosphere outside in a garden-like setting. We had a couple of orders of oysters that were simply fantastic, shrimp, and a smores dessert. The Italian pinot grigio paired lovely with the seafood.
While eating here, I was told that Pan Chancho and Chez Piggy are owned by the same person. There is not much difference in the quality of food. All excellent dishes and presentation. The waitress we had was a bit stern with us and not very friendly, however she made sure our needs were met.
I've eaten here a few times and I've never been disappointed by the food. The breads from pan chancho are amazing, and really amp up the sandwiches. The vibe is laid back but nice. I like the mismatched napkins and rustic kind f …
Food was amazing still. So nice that this is still a great Kingston destination - my last visit was nearly 20 years ago. We enjoyed appetizers, mains, and dessert. Sat on the patio - it was lovely. Service was a bit slow to start (new waitress) but we got through just fine.
Just had my first lunch out during COVID-19, and Chez Piggy was great. Vetting folks before coming in, tables well apart, courteous staff and patrons. They are also dog friendly, and made sure to get my wonderful pooch some water. On top of it all, brunch was top notch.
This restaurant was recommended by a local. We went there and found the servers abrasive. The fish was over cooked and when I told the waitress she brushed it off as if I had never eaten fish before.
A medical condition gives me a "tell" when I eat too much of either of these, and I was "told" quite clearly. For those with no obvious reaction, suffice it to say that the food is wonderful, but you are eating very rich cuisine. Our server …
Drove into Kingston from Toronto. Just had my brunch at Chez Piggy let's just say it was worth the drive!!! Everyone was super nice and friendly. Will be coming back !!!!
Went for a road trip to Kingston for the day. I reccomend it if you have the time. Beautiful city and not as crowded as Toronto lake shore. Anyway. Decided to try this place out as the menu looked Interesting. Reviews were up and down but I decided to see for myself.
Check out the upstairs seating area - love the rootbeer old fashioned to cap off a fresh locally sourced meal. The bread is AWESOME
Great food, Great service and excellent with Covid procedures
Beautiful limestone building in a downtown courtyard. Small dining area downstairs but comfortable, intimate atmosphere. Service was great and the menu is interesting. Our evening felt special and our server really ensured that we enjoyed our experience.
This is small local brunch spot. Decoration is very simple. Server is not really friendly (I saw same feedback on other reviews). I went there for pastrami sandwich. I liked it! Coffee quality is good. Get the Smoked meat hash with your breakfast. So delicious!!
What a fantastic little hidden gem. Jenny was amazing and had the bartender make us some amazing shots. Loved the place so much we had to come back the next day and the treatment we got by Jared was just as amazing. The garlic dip for fries …
I went with four friends for a birthday and we all ended up being disappointed. A couple people recommended this restaurant so I was surprised. The duck was over cooked (we asked for another dish instead and they brought us shrimps), don't order the seafood platter its so small and not at all worth it. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things or it was an off night. I also found the atmosphere off putting. We sat upstairs and it was SO quiet. It was nice that we didn't have to yell to hear each other but it was like a library. Though our server was acting strange too, stumbling around and had trouble speaking... Don't think I'd go back.
Such good food here! This is a fantastic place to meet clients for lunch in the summer on the patio. I usually get soup and sandwich combo since they have the best sandwiches in Kingston by far. For something a little heavier and sharable I recommend the Vietnamese spring rolls- so good!
Love this place. Exceptional and interesting cuisine.
Atmosphere superb! Food & service terrific. Highly recommend!
Great food, wonderful atmosphere in the courtyard. The Tropical Staycation dessert was to die for.
Just getting to the restaurant feels like being let in on a secret! Great friendly service! We really liked pairing the gnocchi and side shrimp!
Fantastic food and atmosphere!
We were recommended this place by 2 people and we had supper on our anniversary. Service was really good, our server was Rog. He had to manage the bar and a few tables. With this pandemic and them suffering like every other restaurant with …
Amazing dinner! The salad (with warm cheese, candied pecans, spinach etc) was actually awesome, as was my main course (‘black white and green’ - scallops with black rice and greens). The tropical sensation dessert was incredible too! …
Lovely meal..great service
My evening at Chez Piggy was enjoyable. I have only been here once, but it made a lasting impression. Service was great. My waitress was very friendly and helpful. Also came by frequently enough to refill water and check up on the table in general. My table was on the second floor, and the atmosphere was very warm and comforting. My only critique is that you can definitely feel the floor shaking when people walk around. Not sure if it's a safety concern, it can just get annoying from time to time. In terms of food, it was excellent. I got half a dozen oysters as well as gnocchi. Both were delicious. However, whether the dishes were worth the price can be debatable. I thought it was too expensive for the portion size, but it could just be that I'm unused to the price of fine dining. Still, the food was delicious and I would definitely come here again.
It was okay but didn't live up to the hype. We were so looking forward to coming here due to good reviews but that wasn't what we experience. It could be a matter of preference too but even the fries did not meet our regular expectation. …
beautiful atmosphere and excellent food. entrees starting at around $30. Fantastic neighborhood to walk around.Awesome food. Great atmosphere. Lovely waiters. One of my favorite places in Kingston by far. Highly recommended.I never go wrong with my yearly treat for a delicious meal. Great service. Eating in the courtyard in warmer weather is when I go.
Cozy and warm ambience as you dine inside or on their large patio. My waitress was affable and helped us navigate the menu. Made sure to bring us refills even as the restaurant and her tables where quite busy. My food was a smaller portion then im used to but delicious none the less.
First of all I have to say the bread at this place is to die for, and comes with your meal. They have a sister restaurant/bakery nearby where the bread is baked fresh every day. Eat the bread you won't regret it. We ordered oysters too and they were super fresh. The service is definitely the best I've had in Kingston so you won't have any problems there!
I purchased a small Cesar salad, and added chicken. I was hesitant when it said 9$ to add chicken but I was so hungry and I knew I wouldn't have time to eat the rest of the day. I'm not even joking when I say the salad showed up with 3 …
marvelous lil Europe atmosphere ( patio and limestone) .. terrific menu and staff . excellent food
One of the most delicious meals I've eaten in Kingston, Chez Piggy combines a rustic, homey feel with contemporary tastes and fresh cuisine. We had oysters as a starter, which were very fresh and tasty. My main was the duck confit, which …
There is always a lineup to get in. Reserve early, patio is accessible and very pleasant. Service for lunch was slow. Good food
The reviews were so good that our experience was a bit surprising. The bourbon with rootbeer and the muscles were great. Then the main courses showed up and the lamb burger was really overcooked. The Philly cheese steak was also fairly average. Might have just been a one off day.
Excellent outdoor dining experience..food was also great .. Nice ambience
Excellent food. Service was also excellent.
Didn't have a great experience. The bread was stale. They didn't have mussels, oysters and other parts of the menu (which is fine, given the current pandemic). However, I had the salmon which was seared to the point of almost being burnt, with almost no seasoning to the fish itself. Amazingly enough, underneath the charred skin above, the salmon was undercooked. This was on top of a rizotto that I'm sure Gordon Ramsey would have thrown right out of Hell's Kitchen. Joking aside, it was undercooked and drowned in it's creamy base. This meal was topped off with almost non existent table service. We ordered the frites aoili as an appetizer, and it took over twenty minutes to get the waitress's attention to get some ketchup for the fries as well. I really think this was one a one-off given all of the positive reviews, but unfortunately we did not have a good time. Given the expensive price tag of the meal, they under delivered. Sadly, we saved this place for my wife's birthday, and because of this we will not attend Chez Piggy again.
Very nice Patio, food was delicious. We especially liked that it was dog friendly and they even gave our little one a treat :) We got a variety of plates and everything was delicious. Thanks to our server Ralph for her great service and making us feel at home! Def recommend
COVID protocols are wayyyyy over the top. No cases Kingston. Waitress and staff were rude. This restaurant has an identity crisis. All over the place with what they offer. Extremely pricey for what you get. Service is lack lustre and doesn’t command the high price tag. Head to red house, aqua terra, olivea and tango July 31 2021
Nice little restaurant in the hipster part of Kingston. Fills up fast so reservations is recommended. Very fancy meals that taste awesome. My husband had the Duck and my meal came with fiddleheads! Great service and a quaint atmosphere.
Reliable and consistent. One of the oldest gourmet restaurant in Kingston. Great food and drink. Good place to celebrate special occasions. Still one of the best restaurants in Kingston. Parking in the old part of downtown is never easy, so when you find a spot in under 5 minutes, it makes everything taste better. Older building that could probably use an overhaul, the interior is far from awesome, but the food is why you come here. And the food is awesome. Well priced, good service and delicious food, overall a wonderful lunch. Menu is interesting, and there is something for everyone.
Omg! I had such a good night. I had the Bravo Ceaser and it was seriously the Bloody ceaser I've ever had. We had the oyster to start and I had the Niçoise Salad. Both really good! My boyfriend had the 3 way lamb and loved it. I recommend this spot for sure!!
Everything was great but especially the server !
Good food.... Nice place. You can not see it from the street. It is accessed through a clean alley... trendy... live music nearby. Great patio.. the building is an old reclaimed livery.stable. friendly staff.
My wife loves it. We are heading home from Ottawa and decide to stop by Kingston for few hours. Thea, our waitress is very nice and showing she is experienced in what she is doing. …
I never go wrong with my yearly treat for a delicious meal. Great service. Eating in the courtyard in warmer weather is when I go.
Great food and great ambiance. We stopped by at the restaurant after a cruise of 1000 island. They had a lovely terrace and the food was delicious.
An interesting experience. Great atmosphere and service.
Brunch menu is awesome
Loved the tartar and the duck confit. Service seemed a bit rushed... Mains were delivered to the table before first course was finished.
Delicious food, fantastic service! Thank you Cameron for ensuring our dinner experience was top notch!
I've been going here with my family for years, always fantastic dishes.. it also serves the bear Ceaser ! I ordered the 3 course pre fixe. It changes according to the day I guess. It started with Salad and croquette, was good. Nice and light... it the portion was small.. for the main, it was rack of boar.
the food is pricey but you pay for what you get! the portions sizes are just right, and there are tons of vegan and gluten free options which i appreciate. staff is super friendly and all interesting people to talk to, bathrooms are kept …
Check Piggy was a favourite restaurant when I went to Queen's in the '80s and the food was fantastic again. I love the atmosphere of the courtyard.
This is a lovely restaurant with kind staff and a beautiful atmosphere (having primarily eaten in the patio area). The food is very pricey for fairly small portions, look forward to spending at least 30 on most entrées, but it is well made and gourmet and hasn't disappointed yet. It is a good place for the feeling of a semi-decadent night out.
Love Chez Piggy! The food was stellar. Sangria was amazing. The patio is adorable and cozy. Our server was funny and charming (I think his name was Tim). Great place to visit in Kingston and we will be back!
Food and service is always excellent, still waiting for the menu to separate vegan/ vegetarian meals (just use two different symbols).
Some pretty good food and the service was very acceptable. However, for quite an expensive place (aprx $30/entree), the service was too casual in my opinion. The site itself, old abandoned stable converted into this restaurant, is outstanding.
Every visit is always a pleasant experience. The food never disappoints and the service is courteous and friendly. I love this place.
Great meal and environment for leisurely dining. Service was excellent. Great variety of menu features including vegetarian. Very pleasant evening. Reservations recommended.
Was recommended by our concierge to come here; they were spot on! The place is a cozy little rustic place within a beautiful courtyard. A true hidden gem. We tried a number of dishes and each one was better than the last. I recommend everything on the menu. Topped off with some mimosas and coffees.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, wonderful staff. Never had a bad meal here
One of the best patios in Kingston, especially during COVID. I got the steak on one visit, and it was so good I tried it again the next time. The sauce was completely different the second time, somehow making the steak even better than before.
One of the oldest restaurants in Kingston. Reservations are welcome. It is cosy and charming place with indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for romantic evenings. Food is absolutely delicious. There is something for everyone on the menu. They serve beautifully prepared seafood, meet or vegetarian dishes. It is not overpriced. I would happily go back.
Food was amazing as always. Have the Social Bubble for dessert it's light and delicious with a clever name. Great COVID precautions in place. Very happy to see they are taking all precautions possible to keep their staff safe.
Went here yesterday. Good covid rules. Great wine and food menu. Efficient service great prices and very tasty food!
Delicious cuisine and comfortable dining.
Absolutely amazing food and ambience
Great breakfast type fare served in a quiet and shady patio. Despite the name, they have some great vegetarian offerings. Staff were all helpful and friendly.
Absolutely recommending this place, we stopped by on our way from Toronto to Ottawa and enjoy the delicious dinner, good wine and local beer. The service was wonderful:)
My family has always made the venture over to Chez Piggy while visiting in Kingston from Wolfe Island. This has been a summer staple and a must do when were up there so after years missing out, my Aunt took my boyfriend and I for a special …
Chez Piggy is always great and this time was no exception — confit of Muscovy duck was fantastic, and so were the mussels
Amazing unique food, beautiful patio.
Delicious. I had an amazing grilled cheese sandwich (I think a few ifferent types of cheese; brie, smoked cheddar..) and a side of chickpeas with za'atar seasoning. The chickpeas I left..not super flavourful, but the sandwich was awesome. A bit pricey, but nothing crazy. Great pint of MacKinnon Summer ale to go with it. The ambiance of the patio is awesome, you feel like you're in secret place, back in time, and out of the busy streets. ❤️ Beautiful limestone building.
Amazing steak! Fantastic service.
Delicious Kingston treat eating at Chez Piggy Restaurant!
Limited menu and quite pricy. Patio only open during Covid of course.
This place is very cozy and well decorated. The oysters are amazing. The salad was good and the grilled chicken on top was just OK. Heidi the server has worked here over 35 years and is truly a treasure for this place. The covid measures …
Great experience as always!!!! I love this place.
Excellent service and the food is delicious. There were all COVID 19 protocols in place. Food arrived quickly. Oysters were fresh and spot on. The braised beef is a regular winner and the soup was warm enough for the cold weather. Definitely coming back to try more meals.
We had a great meal here. I had the steak special, that was cooked more rare than medium rare but still good. My partner got the scallops and for the price, it wasn’t really worth it. Overall, we had a great meal in a beautiful space. We’d come back to check it out again.
A neat little restaurant down an alleyway. Portions were smaller than expected but good food nonetheless.
Our favorite restaurant in kingston. Service, food top notch . Will definitely go back.
It was a mild disaster, in our view. Service was terrible, but the food was good. The interior is nice, but it's amazing how a server can make it all pale. I asked about a drink, she went to inquire and came back and said she'd put tge order in. I'd only asked if they made it virgin. She was annoyed at me and ran off to stop the order. Questions about the main course were difficult. She didn't seem to want to answer more questions, so she told me to drink my alcohol so it'd help me to decide. She barely explained the discussions; we learned about them from listening to the other server. She rarely visited, when she did, she made both of us feel like an annoyance to her. She wasn't young and new, she was just not well suited to the position. She had us wait for a long time for the apps, that it turns it she forgot to order. When the food arrived after 40 minutes, she realized her error and wouldn't give me my plate of food. She wanted to go order the salads instead, and make us wait while new main courses came. I had to be firm to say, please put my food down and no I don't want it now. It was awkward. She made no amends. Sure didn't offer us more beverages. In the end, when we left, the hostess asked if enjoyed everything. I said the fried was great, but the service was disappointing. She just said, oh. As mmt partner remained, I went to the bathroom. She still didn't follow up about the experience. This place had top reviews. We spent $125 for two meals, and went somewhere else for dessert as we were frustrated. We're not likely to ever return.
We were a group of 14 from Montreal and had a beautiful dinner together. We sat outside in their beautifully decorated outdoor patio. The service was excellent and the food was delicious and original. Highly recommend ????
Excellent menu and friendly service. Located in a beautiful limestone building.
Amazing. Great service, great patio, great food.
Good food .
The food was very good, nice flavours and mix of textures. The creme brulee was incredible. My only complaint is they didn't give me cutlery and with no room on the patio and the fact I'm visiting was not super convenient
Excellent food and great service.
Food was delicious, service was lovely. Strangely one of our party (a celiac) of three opted for a gluten free meal (surcharge applied) and when the bread basket came to the table we were told that a gluten free bread basket for her would only be available with a further surcharge. Bread and butter is expected in this caliber of restaurant, and when you are bringing bread to the table for everyone else... Policy seemed inappropriate to us. Please reconsider this costed bread policy when people are already buying gluten free entrees with surcharge.
Visited this place for a brunch on Sunday. Very cool place, the interior design has a vintage look to it. The patio is in an alley away from the road which is very nice and quite. The food is delicious and has a homy taste. The service is good. We got seated right away and the waitress was very attentive.
Server Michael was awesome, patio tucked away between heritage buildings was a neat experience, hubby's food was delicious (hot and sour seafood soup) my meal was just ok (smoked meat sandwich). They didnt have hubby's favorite local beer (Skeleton Park) but the server's suggestion was still good ????
Absolutely delicious! We went there for our anniversary, had oysters and some mains, and were delighted!
Great service, and quality food!
Great food and atmosphere.
This was our first visit. One of the finest dining experience from numerous options in North America and abroad over many years. We were impressed with staff, from knowledge of menu, wines, attitude. For seafood lovers, oysters are a must.
I was also here in August and there is outdoor seating during that time of year but obviously not when there's snow outside! Great place for a nice, fairly fancy meal (and reallllllly good bread)
AMAZING peanut gallery. Superseded expectations ???? >>
Pleasant atmosphere. I had fresh oysters which were excellent. Service was fast; however some staff were not as friendly as I expected from previous reviews!
Third visit over the past year for lunch today and again just loved it! (From Ottawa) Great food, service, atmosphere. Even loved the music! So rare to not be disappointed when eating out. Keep up the great work!
Holy. Cow. We found this little hidden treasure after doing amazing escape rooms at Improbable Escapes. And boy, were we happy with this pick! The service is incredible, the food is unbelievably good, and the atmosphere is its own genre, like a casual fine dining. Elegant cuisine with a familial vibe. Perfect for a date, a dinner with friends, or for any other occasions! Great wine selection and a appetizing menu. We will definitely be back! P.S. oh, also, their sanitary and safety measures are astounding! Masks up everytime the server approaches and plexiglass between all tables. Truly, we never felt safer!
Experience was a real mix. Pig tail appetizer was tasty, while the scallops were bland and lacked any sort of flavourful seasoning, as did the rice on the side. Lamb three ways was the highlight of the meal, especially the little sausage. …
The Vietnamese springroll salad is so darn good!
Very good food and professional service. Nice and fairly quiet building which is perfect for conversations. Fried bocconcini appetizers were delicious and should be a regular item.
Had a fantastic dinner here the other day. Kid-friendly, with delicious and creative food and great wine list for the adults. Highly recommend Chez Piggy.
Very good food. Have been 4 times for brunch, lunch and dinner and it is always consistently good. The patio is where you want to be in the nice weather.
Great patio. Staff is great food is amazing
Great patio
Had lunch there- it was fabulous. Lamb burger was the best I have ever tasted. Lovely setting and excellent food at very reasonable prices. Would go back if it wasn't a ten hour drive from Ohio !!
Great service, and the safest Covid protocols of any restaurant I've ever been to. Tash and Jennie were wonderful hosts. Lots of veg and non-veg options, all incredibly flavor-fat-garlic-spicy-ful.
Verry good super servicios ????????????????????
The staff were all so nice and friendly. The food is the best in Kingston! Due to covid, the bread wasn't as fresh as it could be but I don't care. I'm just super glad they can operate again!
Good to very good, but falling short of great. Nice setting upstairs, with reasonable sound level. Some cold drafts, surprisingly, but not too bad. Kitchen accommodated special requests, which is very good (not sure why others don't, given it's really supposed to be about the customer). Service was very good. Charcuterie was a bit weak. Food is very good. Not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for!
A great Kingston restaurant. A well thought out menu in an inviting setting (both inside and outside courtyard), had the burger and fries yesterday - great burger, great medley of flavours.
So overpriced!! We ordered the $26 charcuterie board expecting an amazing meal considering their ties to Pancho Ancho (which is an awesome deli) but it was pathetic. Several slices of six different meats with a small bowl of olives in the middle and a basket of bread on the side. Our two Manhattans were made over ice. Still has a lovely time playing crib with my boyfriend.
Great patio space, great food and good service. I even helped myself to some of the grapes (not seedless) growing next to me ???? and those were delicious too haha. Seriously though, this place is worth trying. The steak was chewy but juicy. The burger had a great mix of veggies and sauce... I may talking myself into going again.
We have been going here since the day we got married. Great food, long memories
A modern, fusion-ish restaurant with Vietnamese spring roll, lime pepper duck wings, and Hoisin BBQ chicken mixed in with long time Canadian staple menu items like steak, lamb and seafood options. For people with Asian culinary background, …
We heard about this place being a staple in Kingston so we decided to try it. Beautiful restaurant inside and outside. Cozy bar indoors. Great outdoors patio, resembling an European bistro. Good service. Large wine menu. Interesting food …
Lovely meals...Very Covid aware...slightly pricey
The menu is very simple not a lot of meat options. It seemed to be directed more towards a vegetarian crowd. I found the food flavours mediocre. The atmosphere is very nice but found the spacing of the tables incredibly uncomfortable, the tables are located very close to each other making it difficult to exit your chair without disturbing other patrons.
FANTABULOUS experience! Great food and wine coupled with attentive, but not invasive service.
Food & service were awesome. Loved this little tucked away gem. Beautiful building with lots of charm.
The best creme brûlée I’ve ever had! Also mussels were amazing and my steak was cooked to perfection, staff was excellent only miss was sides were cold(cold plate) and to much sauce on my friends chicken... would definitely come back, amazing experience great food
Very cozy atmosphere with delicious food. Highly recommend the jack fruit cakes (wonderful surprise) and the scallops. If you've never been to Kingston, you should come here for the warmth and inviting food.
We always try and stop by here when we are in town. Love the patio in the summer - so private and welcoming!
Has the feel of a hidden European courtyard patio. Wonderful staff and great food. Dog friendly patio. A great find.
Recently had my parents visit and we chose Chez Piggy for dinner. It is very clear that the team at Chez Piggy is taking every precaution they can to create a COVID-safe dining experience. Having experienced their level of professionalism, I will think twice about the safety of some other local spots. Great menu, great meals. You can't go wrong at Chez Piggy for a finer dining experience downtown.
Went here for a client lunch where we had a party of 10. Ordered a variety of food so had a good sampling of most things on the menu. I had the lamb burger which was good but I wouldn’t say excellent. Aside from that, our entire party was very pleased with all the dishes and the server was very attentive so overall, I was satisfied.
One of the best meals we've had. Tasty, delightful with different flavours which were unique and so satisfying. Breads from their bakery, out if this world. Staff were so helpful and gracious, my 65th was just amazing.
Food definitely overpriced, but not too bad. Dessert was way too sweet, couldn't finish a half of it. Our waiter was very nice but there was a lady (owner or works there) who was enjoying some drinks with some friends and they were so loud …
I was tempted by the fresh oysters, but went with the Enright Chuck Cheeseburger. It was really juicy, with a nice garlic mayo on the side. Everyone in our group had a great lunch. The staff was really friendly and we didn't wait for anything.
Good atmosphere and service. Good practice on social distancing.
Great food and wine list. Fairly priced for quality food. We like that
Dine i…
This spot has a great ambiance- We sat inside downstairs. The music was great, not overpowering for a family or friend dinner. Great selection of meals and interesting cocktails, and beautiful fresh bread. The service was excellent, and the food was so delicious! Highly recommend the micro greens salad- it was so so good!
Staff was prompt at the door, very informative about the dining protocols. Food was fantastic as usual! Love the patio atmosphere!
The food was delightful and the staff were helpful and kind.
Absolutely amazing experience. Reservations were easy to make and the person I was dealing with went above and beyond. Sorry I don't remember their name. We were a party of 8 from out of town for a birthday, Chez Piggy offered a gluten free …
Location and service were great. I had the Chez Piggy Club Sandwich for a late lunch. Great fresh bread. fillings were disappointing. The sliced chicken was dry and under seasoned. Over all it tasted okay but was bland.
Recommended by a few friends so we took a chance and stopped by. Got the last two seats at the bar. Food was amazing and the staff knew the menu inside and out.
Went here while visiting kingston. The mandu potstickers and chicken picatta were so good. Amazing food and vibes.
Amazing food! Great veg options. Kimchi and tofu stew is so good. Staff are doing a great job to make everyone safe and comfortable during COVID. Thank you!
Very nice patio, inside is well set up for COVID protocol. The food is excellent and the service was good. It is well worth a visit in my opinion. Reservations are recommended.
Never change! This place has served great food, and employed excellent serving staff since the beginning. Still going strong!
Went to chez piggy with a reservation. Line was huge. Asked everyone in line if they had reservation they answered yes. Waited 20 minutes after reservation time. People before us - announce no reservation but insist server go check it out …
Having heard great things about this place, my girlfriend and I were excited to try this. Maybe it was an off day but we were left feeling disappointed about the service and the food, especially given the price. 1) We were told that there were two people ahead of us on the patio wait-list. Great, we were happy to wait at the bar. We watched four tables clear (two of which remained empty), and a group of three who arrived after us get seated first before we were finally seated 45 minutes later from our arrival time. I suspect they were trying to match up table seating to party size, which is fine, but we wished they were honest about this from the start as we would have opted for an available indoor seat instead of whiling away our time in Kingston. 2) The food was nothing to write home about, which was disappointing given the steep price. The lemon pepper duck wings seemed over fried and dry. The cauliflower steak and lamb three ways were flavourful dishes, but we felt for what we ate, it did not warrant the steep price. Maybe it was locally sourced, in which case we would appreciate the markup. 3) It seemed an off day for the restaurant as tables around us complained about delayed food. 4) The restaurant had craft brews on tap, but the selection was limited. 5) Although the bar was very busy, the bartenders were still very approachable and offered great banter for those of us seated around.
Food was very good & the service excellent!
Wonderful ambience... staff was great with very personable presence.. food was amazing and liked the portion sizes...left feeling full but not stuffed... Spanish coffee was awesome.
We visited this restaurant for the first time today. We ordered oysters, a club sandwich, and a kids crispy chicken meal. Food was amazing. Staff were friendly. We strongly recommend this restaurant!
This was my second time at Chez Piggy's (for dinner). The food, as it was the first time, was amazing. The wait staff was very pleasant. We had a dozen fresh oysters... so, so good. The beet, goat cheese and avocado salad. Fresh and tasty. The dukkah and sumac spices are blended perfectly. The soup of the day was a cream of cauliflower and Cheddar. Also, super tasty. (Especially after the oysters.) We had the braised beef short-ribs & the lamb... both were, incredible. Cooked to perfection. Dessert was the house vanilla bean crème brûlé, the social bubble and a lemon tart from Pan Chancho's. (Unfortunately the lemon tart was a bust. Wasn't very good at all. Perhaps a bad batch?) It may be worth noting that they carry a 2012 Grand Reserva Baron De Ley!!!! It is GREAT!!! Great evening spent, great food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. A definite pitt-stop when in Kingston.
The food was excellent, fresh and well prepared (I recommend the Triple Decker sandwich). They also offer plenty of gluten-free options for those who have celiac's disease. The service was great and the waitress was very kind. The patio is very nice and picturesque, especially on a warm day, however it is a relatively small space. They tend to be busy during peak times and otherwise, so expect a wait time of at least 15 minutes. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.
It’s a little bit expensive. We ordered Tom yum soup, beef tartare, and 2 main dishes. However we 2 people are not full, that shocked me. Duck leg is great, and Tom yum soup I love most. The environment there is great! It’s good to try but may be not the best choice to go there for many times in the future.
Superb location for a meal. Steak sandwich was excellent. Great service
This is one of the best restaurants in Kingston. They do have a wonderful selection of vegetarian and pescatarian options. I love their Cauliflower Steak, and my partner always gets the Linguini Aglio Olio. The outside patio has been absolutely lovely, especially with the heighten care to observe COVID precautions. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. I highly recommend this place.
Loved it. Food was fantastic and an awesome atmosphere.
Fantastic food and beautiful atmosphere. The patio is spaced well and we enjoyed everything we had.
So so good! Stopped in while in town for the night and was very impressed. I had the discussion which came with a lovely salad, pork tenderloin over gnocchi, and dessert. The creme brûlée was excellent. The méditerranéen chicken dish was mouth watering. The chicken was moist and the potatoes were fantastic. Thank you for a tasty memorable evening.
It was great. We both had some lightly cooked oxtail, with little scallops on the side, and a lovely salad. $170 for two, including tips but no alcohol. The diet coke was completely flat, so I complained, and the delightful waitress brought me another formerly carbonated coke to replace it.
This is a place I always stop at when we come to Kingston. In summer I love the patio for a nice lunch, which is dog friendly. For supper you can't go wrong with the nightly special. It's a bit pricy but I've never been unhappy.
Nice place, good food and professional staff.. Our waiter was great! The bread is soooo fresh my sandwich was yummy!! I recommend!! Reserve your place first, we were lucky with our drop in :)
Excellent! Arrived at my reservation time, did not have to wait. Service was friendly and professional. Food was great and well sized (club sandwich and trout on baby kale). Outside venue among the lime stone courtyard is quaint and cozy.
Service
Beautiful patio, good service, and good food. The kids meal was a little pricey ($12 for a small portion of penne with marinara), but that's okay. The cioppino was great, as was the lemony fish burger.
Chris was amazing...food was great!!
Such a lovely place ! The staff is great and the food is good. The patio in the back is cozzy and intimate, as it is sheltered from the noisy street. Indoors, you will be treated with a warm and homy ambiance, set in a authentic historic building.
It has a good service and the drinks also are good.
