This Coffee Shop is classified in the category of Bakery.
The Bake Oven has a diverse selection of imported foods. Although Dutch foods are their specialty, they have foods from many European countries. As well as this their deli features specialty cold cuts, fresh baked products and desserts. They also have a cafe. I have not tried it as of yet but do know that they serve breakfast and desserts. Did I mention the large selection of Dutch licorice. The staff is very helpful.
The best food in the area. And the baked goods are amazing.
Great service awesome pricing the restaurant had a great burger with a spicy mustard that was pretty good. I highly recommend this place to everybody especially if you like sweets I had something that was like a cannoli but it was something else and it was really good with almond
Great spot for breakfast at 10am on a saturday, not that busy, great food, and amazing staff. Fantastic service and highly recommend for anyone who is not rushed and wants to enjoy their breakfast. New workers working hard and amazing customer service. Highly recommend for good company and good food.
Love this place. Great bakery but so many fun foods to try or scoop up old favorites
So much selection. If you ever lived or visited Holland or Germany...this is the place to visit and pick up all the European food items you love. Excellent baked goods. They have a restaurant i have not tried yet. I go faithfully twice a year and stock up. Mmm fritesaus.
As always this is a fantastic little Dutch store with a fantastic Dutch café. The place is always clean, food was excellent and the service was quick, even though this time they had a large group in while we were there. The staff is always friendly and tend to all of our needs. My Dutch mother loves this place, they have may products she has only ever seen in Holland.
Food was excellent.
Been looking for great mom and pop breakfast place in Winnipeg, I'm happy to report I've found it. The food quality it top knotch, prepared excellently and is super tasty. I'm not a sweets in the morning type, but their cinnamon toast is just so stellar that I am a convert. The other stand out for me was the bacon. I should also point out the staff, who are friendly and attentive. This is a hidden gem. Loved it and plan to make it a regular destination.
Awesome little hidden dutch store/bakery here in Winnipeg
Excellent selection of things you wouldn't normally find in the grocery store. They had this Guinness cheese, SO GOOD. Tons of candies / snack items too. Lots of European type foods. Very cool place.
The best dutch connection in Winnipeg. Nice little lynch spot too
Unique selection of products and cute cafe
Yum
Beautiful little store, bakery, cafe all in one that caters to Dutch traditions.
I was able to buy a lot of different indonesian foods here.
Limited staff .. service is slow when busy. Bruins Omelette is fantastic. coffee is good
So many kinds of bread to choose from for your breakfast. So good
Great home made bakery and cafe.
Stroopwafel and cheese. What more should I ask for? Also very friendly staff.
Nice store, friendly staff.
Bruin Cafe is one of our favorite places to eat in Winnipeg. Kroket burger and Pork Schnitzel both absolute favorites.Great food, wonderfully friendly staff.
Awesome little place to get a bite to eat. Great selection and amazing cheesecake! Will most certainly order again!
When you walk in, the smell!
Nice selections of Dutch/European specialty items, one of my favourite stops when in Winnipeg.
Great neighborhood bakery, deli and Cafe, definitely try it out !
Lovely baked goods at reasonable prices.
Amazing food!
Fresh bread
Was OK. Outrageous food prices. Mostly all German foods. Nice people at the front desk.
First time visit. Very good! Extremely pleasant service.
Lots of Dutch goods and great service! I have to go soon and get my chocolate letters. Just went again to get my chocolate letters for this year, some Gouda, drops and other favourites. I would go more but it is a long bus ride from my place. I bought some souvenirs also, because you can never have too many fridge magnets or decorated tiles.
the best deserts and pastries in town..
Great place for unusual foods from Europe, even Great Britain. Very helpful staff and everything baked fresh, well worth a visit even for a browse.
The apple cream cheese strudel was perfectly cooked; apples not mushy or under cooked, perfect sweetness, and the pastry was awesome. Butter tart squares, brownies, and date squares all wonderful. Even the discount pound cake was still great, moist and perfect density; the raspberry filling and lemon crumble were nice additions to the pound cake.
Awesome food! Great atmosphere, the prices are low and you get lots for your dollar! Very friendly! 5/5 Stars
Great great baked foods that have a nice little eating area restaurant that you can have breakfast or quick lunch it's a great place to go family owned.
Been there lots, and never had bad experience yet.
Great fish and chips can only get Friday's
A very nice sandwich eatery, with a beautiful dutch atmosphere.
How have I not given my rating for the amazing little shop sooner!? I love this place because it has so many things to remind me of my cultural background, treats you can't find easily anywhere else. Lots of European candies, biscuits, stroop... Items to bake your own treats... Always good deals on granola... Lovely selection of cheeses. The staff are friendly too. Great hours for a nice evening outing when you feel for something sweet!
First time there. We did some shopping while waiting for friends, then had dinner in the restaurant. Very good food. I had the schnitzel with a Dutch Onion soup. Everything was delicious, though I'm used to having gravy on schnitzel, so I'll order some next time. They should offer Spatzel with the schnitzel! Oh well, the soup was delicious. Definitely coming back!
It's a great little bakery and THE place to go in Winnipeg if you want Dutch specialty items, whether that's soup mixes, cookies, chocolate letters, chocolate hail, or salted licorice. The parking is easy, the staff is friendly, and there's even a small cafe where you can get a snack.
great baking
Great breakfast, the early bird doesn't include potatoes.
Amazing place... Always have exactly what my family needs!!!
Good selection of specialty European food products
Some serious home cooking here people! The service is awesome and the food is sooooo awesome! Been to the bake shop, really good, felt like a kid again in the place. Then came back for breakfast, have not had a better breakfast. Hash browns cooked perfectly, eggs very good. Oh ya and the coffee is good to. Did I mention staff is awesome? Ya they are!
Only Dutch Bakery/Grocer/Deli in the city. Try the whipped cream cake it's their specialty. Not too sweet and have been ordering birthday cakes from here since 1996 (always been good and no leftover cake after... different fillings but the vanilla custard is a favorite)! A small/cafe restaurant is attached called the Bruin Cafe if you want to eat in or take out too :) Also love the assorted imported goods (cheese, jam, condiments, drinks, cookies, baking items, etc.). They have assorted bar cakes like several types of nanaimo, brownies, dates, chocolate, butter tart bars. Pastries (variety of croissants and strudels), cakes (lemon, ferrero, oreo, pistachio, and cheesecakes (. The breads are great with any of the jams, cheese, and deli meats they carry.
Came to visit family, stopped by this place by suggestion. Pleasantly surprised, great atmosphere and service specifically from the girl with glasses, I think overheard her name was Hailey. Next time I return to the area I'll be sure to stop by. Bravo!
Excellent service and very friendly and helpful
An unassuming building with some of the best food I've had in this city. Great atmosphere, excellent service, always a joy to eat there.
Delicious!
Been in love with their rye bread from the first day I went there. Excellent staff too, very friendly and helpful
A true hidden gem. Be sure to visit for fresh baked goods and you need to try the turnovers !!
Love this place!
Love this place!!!
Great local place, will always have the best cheesecake in the city. And the signature whipped cream cakes are good as ever!
Good little neighborhood dutch store. Great service !
Cute little gem tucked away. I could smell it from outside and decided to check it out. Not quite what I was expecting, but decent products.
Great place!
This is a good place for deserts
Interesting imported European food, great bakery, good deli.
Great place to get Dutch treats
I've been going here on and off throughout my life when i lived in the area. Loved going there during school hours to get some munchies way back when. I've never gotten anything I didn't like from here and you can get a lot of German stuff which my family loves. Lot of memories for me around this place and i'm sure for so many others who live nearby
Wow
Used to live across the street and it made up for living in East Kildonan. Lots of great imported items. Definitely looking forward to going back.
The best cinnamon bread ever!
Great local spot. I have been getting baked goods and cold cuts from there for years. I tried eating breakfast there for the first time a month ago and will definitely be coming back! I love supporting this local family owned shop!
Cozy little mom and pop shop feel to it a little pricey but good
Good food
I love that I can get Traditional food and goodies from the Netherlands here!
Awesome German cakes and pastries. They have many European store products as well as meats and cheeses. There is also a small restaurant inside that I have yet to try, but I see is always busy.
I love this place and getting food/treats of my childhood. Best dutch import store
This store is awesome for online orders. A large variety of items at competitive prices. By far the best store to order dutch treats not easily found elsewhere.
Good selection of Dutch food products.
Great desserts and pastries! The cheesecakes are particularly light and delicious!
Fabulous breakfast in the Cafe. Highly recommended.
Good morning I must get something of my chest , I am not very happy with the way it is now after Jerome left my last order I got dried out cheese and some other goods that I ordered and got something different, now I need to order chocolate letters and your website won't let me search for other products, why did you have to change a site that worked ??
Best cinnamon buns in town.
A real gem of a place in an unassuming location. Had the Ruban sandwich with fries, coleslaw and potato salad. A++++ High quality ingredients in everything. You will feel like you are at grandmas house. Thank-you The Bake Oven !!!! See you soon.
This bakery offers tasty homemade treats in a wide variety and selection. Pies are exceptionally unique and delicious. The Cinnamon buns are my favourite. Staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend checking out this little gem.
Indonesian poutine at The Bake Oven for lunch! Soooooo good! The Kroket Burger and homemade soup was really good too!
Great little bakery and shop. International products and yummy items!!
I remember going to Princess Margaret school when I was a kid in the early 60s and at that time this was called Pauls grocery store great to see it now transformed to a specialty store and restaurant. I went there yesterday and it’s amazing what they have here a lot of hard to find products from Germany and the rest of Europe. Check out the liquorice and chocolates from Holland and Germany. Very very cool place to visit tucked in a great neighbourhood.
Quaint little spot with a variety of European foods. The food and service in the cafe was excellent and the store was tidy and well - stocked.
Great little bakery and diner serving delicious Dutch dishes.
Great place for Dutch specialties
One eord AWESOME
Awesome little shop. Some things are a little more expensive but this is a family run business.
First time trying out The Bake Oven, ordered through Skip. We ordered the Battered Haddock w/ Coleslaw and a Reuben sandwich w/ Fries. The battered haddock was delicious, did not smell fishy, the batter tasted great and not too heavy. The tartar sauce was top notch and house made. The coleslaw is one of the best I’ve tasted, made with fresh dill. You can tell the coleslaw was made in house and not with store bought dressing. HOWEVER. We were extremely disappointed in the size of the Rueben ($9.95) which did not come with any sides. Just the sandwich. Judging by the price we expected the sandwich to be quite substantial. $10 would get you a 12” foot long. The meat to bread ratio was disappointing for a Rueben and we did not feel like we got $10 worth of sandwich. See pictures and judge for yourselves. Otherwise it tasted good and the pickles appears to be made in house as well.
Great little restaraunt
Great supply of Dutch food
Friendly neighborhood bakery, deli and cafe. Lots of imported Dutch foods. One of the few places in town with a great selection of Senseo coffee pods.
Best burger buns in the city Great bakery with great staff and selection of European grocery items. Also a cafe that has never disappointed
Another place that serves breakfast and can't cook an egg. Maybe its just me but I like eggs the way some people like steak--cooked to order. I'd like just once to order food from somewhere that can fry an egg and leave the yolk slightly runny and the whites fully cooked. This isn't an mythical idea, I have prepared eggs this way at home many times without issue so I know it can be done. I ordered some food for delivery and it came with rubbery eggs and a hair. They had neglected the added side of bacon which I had prepaid for. I requested a second order which was provided to me and found it to be almost as bad as the first. This time they saw fit not to season the potatoes, served me less toast, and somehow undercooked the eggs. They also felt the need to put some lettuce and a half slice of tomato in the box, not sure why. The only part of the meal I truly enjoyed was the bacon, it was cooked right and the meat was delicious. All in all I will probably never order food from here again. I would have rated 2 stars but I liked he customer service, despite the hour long wait for the second order.
Lot's of great Dutch food and treats.
Excellent store they have products here that you can't buy anywhere else. For me it was a walk back in time as my father used to own this building when it was a grocery store over 40 years ago.
I love this place! Even tho it's small & may have less of a selection since the pandemic, it still has all the essentials that let me taste or make many Dutch foods & treats. The restaurant since being re-vamped has so much more selection for authentic Dutch meals than before. I loved it then but I love it even more now. Makes me miss & feel close to Holland again.
Fantastic service, great environment, very clean, staff is very friendly. Love to stay here. Food is so delicious, I definitely want to come back. HOWEVER, their coffee sucks royally and brings down the whole experience. Therefore it gets an overall 3/5.
Love to buy their Buffet Ham, also lots of variety to choose from.Great black forest cakes, made better than most. This place is worth shopping at. Also great restaurant.
Awesome ????
They had everything I needed. What they didn't have for my mom, they special ordered it. Great service and fantastic baked goods.
The pudding slices are close to an English custard slice...tastes really good...the lemon one to...my only down point is not enough pudding filling... otherwise five star and my son is a huge fan of the chocolate eclair...????
Fresh bakings and deli... small coffee shop to side
First time here and the employees are so sweet probably the best service I’ve had in years the food is amazing it’s cooked perfect not a single flaw I honestly recommend this place to everyone and anyone come try it out this place is absolutely amazing
Very friendly staff and quality products
Great breakfast and lunch restaurant
Great Dutch food
Great food
Lost its touch. Sad really
Always a great experience. Good food and friendly staff in the restaurant and great imports if you're missing those tastes from home.
What a great place
Great food and Dutch supplies
First time eating in a restaurant in over a year and I was not left disappointed. The server was very friendly and the food was delicious. Prices are very reasonable and to top it off had a dessert to go from the bakery Mocha logs which also did not disappoint.
Great casual atmosphere. Delishious food.
Amazing food. Great local eatery. Has a great convenience store as well. Highly recommend
Lovely little slice of Holland

Love this place. Nice little restaurant. Great bakery.
Delicious birthday cake
Amazing food, great place,awesome staff
Great selection of breads, meats, cheeses, and goodies. Staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant has tasty soups and entrees. Always come here when we're in the city.
Great home cooking! always enjoy it there.
Love everything about the store
Excellent bake goods, cold cuts and lunch specials
Have not been to the restaurant. But the store is amazing, the bakery items are absolutely delicious. The sour cherry pie is unlike any I’ve ever had. Sooo fantastic and great selection of items!
Great store and cafe! Big selection of Dutch and other European foods. Friendly and helpful staff. Great assortment of foods that you won't be able to find anywhere else in Winnipeg.
First time trying, ordered one beef and one chicken kroket for $5.50 ea. What I got for over $5 was only slightly larger than a mozza stick and not as tasty. Ordered fries with gravy, they forgot the gravy....save your money, go somewhere else.
Excellent food and good people
Great selection of cheese.
The food is really great at this restaurant. My only complaint is that I can never get through when I call. 3 days in a row that I wanted to place an order and the phone has the same message that the person I have dialled is unavailable. I even tried Skip the Dishes to order food around 4:30pm and the restaurant shows closed but the google page says takeout until 7pm. Very confusing.
Best raisen bread and chocolate eclairs
I haven’t eaten in the restaurant, but the bakery, deli and cheese shop are wonderful. The sausage rolls, Ollie bollen and cream puffs are WOW. And the aged cheeses….chefs kiss.
Very homey atmosphere and great food, whether it’s breakfast, their Bruin Burger, Friday fish dinners, baked goods or pretty much anything on the menu. Friendly personal service and good heritage history to this place.
Best place in Winnipeg if you are looking for Dutch (our German) foods and things
I have frequented this store for years. I used to live in Northwest Ontario and they would ship my “addictions”. Their import selection is only outdone by their baked goods. Oh my, best cakes anywhere. And Christmas baking; don’t even get me started. If you haven’t tried their fresh baking make sure you do. It is so worth the effort. Yum! Oh, the people are nice too.
I ordered the whip cream cake. Disappointing! The whip cream is not 100% real dairy. Contains coconut/ palm oils. You would think from a bakery and called "whip cream cakes" it would be real. Also the layer of pudding and strawberry ordered for the middle of the cake, was very thin. I cant tolerate palm oils so I couldnt eat it. ????
Desserts in main store are excellent. Good selection of european food items. Have extended hours for restaurant on Thur and Fridays until 730. Food quality then is hit or miss. Last time i was there i ordered fish and chips. Not great. Little greasy and fish batter was pretty gross not sticking to the fish
A hidden jem. Great service and food.
Excellent food and service
Nice local place attached to a Dutch Bakery that serves some Dutch food as well as Canadian staples.
Excellent,i love it there
Was my first time ordering food from here. It was really yummy, I enjoyed it immensely. Also the customer service was just exceptional. I asked for a couple substitutions and she accomodated me in every way she could and was offering to do more. They went above and beyond. Prices are really good for the amount of food as well. Will definitely be back and already recommended them to a friend
People there were vary nice and helpful to me and my younger brother
One of my favourite stores in Winnipeg. Wonderful cafe with great lunches and delicious bakery. I love browsing the shelves to see what they have. I buy all my Dutch goodies from there!
One hour wait for a soup and salad!!!!
One of my favorite stores in Winnipeg
