Its nice but seems a little bit too much like a breakfast restaurant. I would like to see the specials display board shown in a better location. It is behind where the customers stand.....maybe put it where people walk in. Also the clean up station was messy and right beside a booth. There parking but it looks like it gets taken by some of the businesses around. I have yet to be able to park in their lot. That was uncomfortable. I have been going to these guys for years. Although I had stopped for a couple, it wasnt anything they had done to make the change. Just went back again recently at their new address on Portage. Beautiful place!! Their Toffee Crunch frappe is the best! (i think thats what its called still lol). Anyway, great food, great drinks, great staff. Highly recommended! (and its locally owned so you're supporting Winnipeg owners!)

We show up at 8:50am on a Saturday and order a couple of frapachino's and a hot chocolate and it took 10 minutes. There were only 5 customers who already had there beverages. Not sure why it too so long. Slow service.

A lovely place to escape and have a break from the world with a mint fog and a slice of Oh Henry bar. The menu is light offering mostly soups, salads and sandwiches but they are always excellent. The book exchange library is fun. My kids love it when we have a date night here. It is also a great space to work from and an even better space to catch up with old friends.

For a coffee place, the coffee was not very good. I had an Americano that was less than stellar--weak and almost tasteless. However, the roast beef sandwich and the Hungarian mushroom soup were absolutely fantastic, prompting a stronger star rating. The atmosphere is great and the people were very friendly. Other reviews rave about the coffee so I will give this place another chance.

I used to think this place was good. Then I noticed something. I work as an Electrician. When I went to this place after work hours in my non work clothes, then employees were nice and courteous. However If I went there straight after work when wanting a little snack, they were rude and cold. So make sure you wear your hipster best when attending this establishment. I tried politely emailing them about my concerns 2 months ago, they never got back to me. So if you enjoy discrimination, give these people your money. Otherwise, find anywhere else.

Been here a few times now and every experience has been phenomenal. Staff friendly and helpful and food/coffee always on point. Try the soups no matter how obscure they sound as I have yet to find one that was less than delicious!

Great little coffee place in St. James. I don’t drink caffeine but love to go for seasonally-flavoured steamers, ridiculously good Nanaimo bars and tasty little sandwiches. Nice little setup but some booths have large holes from being worn right out and need some re-upholstering. Oh, the Hungarian mushroom is probably my favourite restaurant soup in the city. I am working on duplicating it at home but it’s not going to be easy!! A solid 4 stars, only because there is no 4.5 option. My only complaint is that there is quite a turnover that I almost always am forced to sit at a dirty table and clear someone else’s plates. Also maybe sure to take your own cutlery and napkins as they will bring your food both none of the rest.

Perfect for studying, great atmosphere, nice staff, lots of outlets available for laptops and long stays. The coffee beverages are okay, but leave a bit to be desired, they could improve on this by actually weighing their espresso shots for a consistent recipe (which I noticed they weren't). Stick with the drip with a bit of milk and sugar and you'll be fine. Haven't had the food due to dietary reasons.

Most safe I have felt in a cafe/restaurant since COVID began. All staff was (properly) masked, they put up dividers between booths, and all available tables were clean. With winter coming, this will be my go-to safe place to get out of the house for warm cider and a good book.
