Popped by on a Wednesday morning to grab a coffee. Was happy that despite having no seating indoors right now (due to COVID, I assume) there were delicious food options. I had the ‘merican waffle breakfast sandwich which was absolutely delicious and a couple sips of a flat white (which I sadly dropped when getting into my car). Two scones to go for later, which were perfectly seasoned/ salted/ baked. Will definitely be back for more quality coffee and treats. All reasonably priced as well. Thank you!

Favourite place for coffee in the city. They're always brewing something different and delicious. The scones are to die for. Also, I love that they don't charge extra for dairy free options.

Love this place. Been here twice and I love the atmosphere, even if it's on the smaller side. Haven't had a problem finding seating yet! Coffee is great quality, pastries are great. Can't wait to try a waffle! I'll be back very often :)

Excellent coffee, aero press and regular drip. I got the American waffle gluten free, my husband got the California waffle also gluten free. Beautifully presented, exquisite flavours, and we left feeling so stuffed after cleaning our plates. Wonderful, friendly service from every single staff member we saw today. Highly highly recommend!

The coffee menu is simple but they do it well. This was an excellent cappucino. There is also plenty of non coffee drinks and water for those looking for an alternative. Didn't have a chance to try the food yet; but the coffee certainly encourages me to come back sometime.

Very friendly staff and delicious coffee, drinks, and waffles, one of my favorite brunch places in the city. Must try the merican waffle if you're into savoury waffles and the shannon to drink, there baked are really delicious too.

This is a really cozy and beautiful place. I totally can recommend to have a nice and relaxed breakfast here. The coffee is delicious, the breakfast is amazing and the choices are plenty. We went for the waffles and they just put us in a good mood for an amazing start of the day

Great food and great service. I love how the food is served on waffles- very unique idea. However, the price range is way too high. We paid $40 for two coffees and two breakfast sandwiches. They were very good, but I wouldn’t go back here often due to the prices. Also if you are going to eat in at a busy time prepare to wait as there is very limited and cramped seating. If that doesn’t bother you, it may add to the unique character of the shop!

My first experience at The Cannon but it definitely won't be the last. I had the 'Merican sandwich and it was absolute perfection. My companion had the gluten free waffle and bacon and was so excited to be able to have a gluten free breakfast.

One of the best breakfasts I've had, hands down! And their London Fog latte was literal perfection. Vegan options. supporting local businesses. Trendy spot to sit and read, do some work, or just stuff your face like I shamelessly did. In response to Google's question: are there small plates to share? Yes. But with food this good, you won't want to! I have included a picture of my meal. As you can see, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the food because I was too busy enjoying every bite. If that isn't a testament to how good the food is here, I don't know what is! Also, they have free WiFi, for you antisocial kids who can't sit for five minutes without checking your Instagram feed ????

We have eaten weekend breakfast here on many occasions. The gluten free waffles are the best I've ever tasted. The coffee is great. The service is friendly. The seating is tight but worth the wait on a busy day.

I've been a couple of times now and it's perfect for a quick bite when you're shopping along Ottawa St. It can be very difficult to find seating during peak times (noon) with a seventeen seat capacity. Food is phenomenal and that's why I've rated five stars. Open face waffles and waffle sandwiches are their specialty. I had the 'Merican'. This dish is meatless and is basically a giant open faced waffle topped with poached eggs, spinach, avacodo, sweet potato and goat cheese. $12. Homemade 'Blue eyed iced blueberry tea' $3 and fresh coffee make this the perfect ending to an all day Sunday breakfast!

Came here for the first time a couple weeks ago. It's very unique! Lots of waffle-based dishes and local coffees. Prices are very reasonable! Metered street parking is available. Or, you can park at Centre Mall and walk up the street!

I had the opportunity to try out The Cannon recently. Although the food tastes good, and feels refreshing, I do not feel that the serving size or experience justifies the cost of the total meal. It's great to see new ideas and unique menu options, however I feel that wouldn't be enough to draw me back to this place anytime soon. Cons: difficult street parking, cramped seating, busy location with lots of people in a non air conditioned atmosphere, high cost. Two breakfast options, and two coffees were $40.

The Cannon sits quietly on the corner near a local antique mall which we frequent. We enjoy coming here as the owner's love of quality coffee, decor and adjacent accessories is clear. Japanese Kinto brand travel mugs line a shelf near the front door and their presence informs me that we are likely in an establishment that is focused on doing things really well. Go in for yourself and check out the quality, pay the price and decide for yourself whether or not the coffee is as nice as the Kintos. I say it is. P.S. I've always been treated warmly and professionally by the employees who seem to genuinely enjoy being at work. Good job!

Very nice waffles, coffee and tea. Great little spot. Lots of parking around. Arrived around 930 on a Sunday. Few people inside. Bye the time we left it was packed. Had a waffle with strawberries, chocolate drizzle and fresh cream. It was awesome. The other was a breakfast waffle, with poached eggs and roasted veggies. So good as well. Will be going back for more. Very friendly and great atmosphere!

went there probably at their peak hours and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and their accompany (and the food and coffee) there. space is well-lit by natural lighting which is probably what makes this place cozy and warming (and full of joy). ordered waffles with friend for takeout and then seating became available! the waffles are fluffy and perfect and the people are very welcoming and friendly. overall it’s a great spot for coffee/tea stop and get the waffle fix!

Delicious pesto flavoured waffle with poached eggs, avocado and sweet potatoes drizzled with balsamic reduction with a perfect London Fog. Service is fast and friendly. I loved it, makes me feel like at home in my favourite neighbourhood café!

Great independent/local cafe in Hamilton, on Canon and Ottawa street. Cafe was not allowing people to dine in due to recent COVID restrictions, however the inside of the store was still nice. Lots of natural lighting and wood floors, easy to imagine it would be a great place to enjoy a coffee. Service was great, and very friendly. I ordered their Cortado which was well made as well! Excited to go back and try their coffee, and their baked goods. Everything was also reasonably priced as well, very similar to what you'd expect at a Stat Bucks, but considerably better.

The Waffle sandwiches are very good. We had a breakfast sandwich with egg tomato and a cheese Waffle and a California with avacado, tomatoes and bacon. They offer gluten free and vegan waffles. Believe it or not, a Waffle instead of bread was a pleasant surprise.

This was a perfect Canadian breakfast (actually what I got)! Definitely recommend this place for delicious food and yummy coffee. The cafe has a calm vibe and the servers were so nice. I'll definitely be back to try something new the next time I'm in Hamilton!

Nice corner coffee shop on Ottawa street. Stopped in on Saturday morning for a hot chocolate (for me) and a decaf latte (for my SO). Both were delicious and had the prettiest coffee art swirls. The decaf had good flavour but was still smooth, and the hot chocolate was rich but not overpowering. Thanks guys! By the way they have a great selection of take home coffee beans and tea blends for sale too if you’re looking for Christmas gift ideas :)

This place makes the lightest and most fluffy waffles that I've ever had. It has a very small dine in space, and we had to wait 20 minutes to get a table, but it was worth the wait. They serve fresh espresso in addition to brewed coffee and a medley of hot and cold coffees. Staff are very friendly and will have your order ready in few minutes. There are plenty of municipal parking spots around the shop.

We waited 25 minutes outside in line and there was only 5 people in front of us. The coffee was good but not that amazing for the long wait time.They need to rethink the efficiency of their serving technic. If they only accept 2 costumer at a time in the café, after the costumer pays he should wait outside to let the next costumer order in the restaurant and keep everything moving. The barista should after bring the coffee to the waiting costumer outside. Instead of them having to wait for the 2 costumers in front to order there coffeee and wait inside 5 min for their order preventing the next person to got in.
