I always feel welcomed, sometimes in the morning I come chill here with a coffee and plan out the rest of my day and bounce. The staff were helpful as well, I'm not like a big coffee connoisseur or anything, I just like good coffee and they recommend some good stuff.

Best coffee in town by far. These folks know their stuff. The prices are fair considering they source directly from coffee farmers, they also have some organic coffee too. There can be a wait at busy times, but nothing too long. Seating can fill up too. Best seats are outside in the summer!

This is as good as it gets. I've been to coffee shops from Halifax, NS to Nelson BC, and I'll give anyone of them a chance, but I am heavily biased towards those that roast their own product. Once you've ground and brewed your own beans even a few times, the difference that fresh roasted beans makes is undeniable. Java Blend roasts coffee beans the way they were meant to be. As many other roasts as I've tried, a few may have come close but none with the consistency of that perfect roast that Java Blend has elevated to an art form. This review is meant for those who drink their coffee black.

I like the Java Blend coffee (taste wise, freshness), but I was disappointed to learn that the "Fairly Traded" label is Java Blend's own invention and that as a roaster they are not actually Fair Trade certified, which means they do not participate in the chain of custody that is supposed to ensure adherence to fair trade regulations from producer to end product. For that reason I prefer JustUs, Laughing Whale or Full Steam Coffee as fully fair trade certified roasters in Nova Scotia. JustUs and Full Steam are available at grocery stores. Laughing Whale is mainly sold at Farmers Markets.

This place roasts better coffee than 99% of the self-absorbed hipster places I've visited across the country. Huge variety of beans from all over the world, and prices less per pound than poor but overpriced stuff found in supermarket packages. Continual roasting so never a stale cup or off-tasting beans - it's fresh. Superb outfit but relatively unknown even in its hometown. Go figure.

The coffee was amazing, the ambience was lively but not boisterous, it was reasonably clean, and the service was friendly but not pushy. The only improvement I would suggest is a better organization of service: someone tried to nab my cappuccino and a different person attempted to take my friend's latte. There are definitely workarounds to alleviate confusion at the hand-off.

It's sad to see a cafe that promotes diversity and tolerance be so inexplicably intolerant towards their customers. The Java Blend Halifax Seaport Farmers Market staff are honestly the rudest I've ever met when it comes to baristas. Sure the cappuccino wasn't bad but how can anyone enjoy a good coffee after getting upset over bad customer service? I walked in smiling and both employees running the counter couldn't even bother saying hi back or looking twice. I asked for some cinnamon powder and the person who gave it to me just tossed the cinnamon powder all over the cup and my shirt. I'm not one to write long reviews but this is truly one of my worst experiences. I believe it's not only the employees fault but those who hire must be deemed responsible as well. I ended up telling my friends what happened. They unfortunately told me they had a similar experience.

Delicious coffee beans at great prices! The drinks and baked goods are always a must when stopping in to get your bag of beans. They can grind then in store if you need, or you can just get whole beans. Staff are always pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about all the different beans they have. Not only do they have the best deal on coffee beans they roast on site, but they make the best damn Americano I've had in this whole city! Seating is sparse, so don't plan on bringing a large group of people to their cafe. However, this doesn't take away from the nice atmosphere, and the staff are all very pleasant.

This coffee shop is the best. You can smell their coffee from afar because they actually roast their beans in the store itself. It is along my bus routes so I would say it is accessible and is in a very good location. It is always crowded and busy both attending to take outs and dine ins. They have quite a selection of coffee beans, and they are really the best in town. I find that you can enjoy the coffee shop better when you become social with other people since tables are very close to each other, but if you're not that kind of a person, I would recommend those wall tables with high chairs, which I usually get. It is a spot for you to enjoy your own space and do your own stuff. The shop also has some baked goods. I love having my coffee with ham and cheese scion warmed up with butter. The staff are super awesome as well. If you keep coming they have a stub for their coffee patrons which will allow you to have your 10th drip and specialty drinks for free and 11th bag for your beans. Just a reminder to bring cash, they do allow debit/credit but for a minimum of $5 worth of spending.

This place is practically an institution in Halifax. They have a history in the community with a vibe that is upbeat, lively and welcoming upon entering. There is WiFi access and a feeling that says it's time to just sit down and relax with a cup of Joe. They have expanded their menu to include organic coffees, and they have a small selection of quality bulk, loose-leaf teas at very attractive prices. I appreciate the fact that they roast their own coffee beans and will grind them for you at the time of purchase.

Great coffee but disappointed to learn that they do not accept their own e-giftcards instore. You must use it online, which will automatically charge you a $6 shipping fee (will not accept instore pick-ups). Would have preferred to save that $6 and purchase the coffee inhouse. The delivery also states that it is next day delivery, which was not the case for my order placed on Oct 19/21. When I followed up, they were quick to respond that their team is experiencing delays.

This well established long time roaster has been doing it well for a very long time. It's not just the best coffee in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada its one of the best you'll have in your Global travels. Note: My preference of coffee is buying whole bean and home brewing. When I do drop in to the store the brewed coffee in house is great! For specialty coffees I would check other reviews as I am unable to comment on it due to my straight up java preference but they do look mighty fine. Also great ownership and friendly and prompt staff.

Met a friend here for coffee. It's a cute little shop. Still fairly early in the day and they were all out of snack/food options. The wait was a bit longer than I would have anticipated. While the cashier was quite quick and friendly, the baristas were very chatty with each other and the line for beverages was moving quite slow. Would try again, perhaps earlier in the day.

My wife and I moved to SW Ontario and the coffee from local roasters here is ridiculously expensive ($17+/lbs) and far inferior to anything we've purchased from Java Blend (stale beans, etc). It's actually cheaper for us to mail order from JB and enjoy a taste of the Maritimes here in LDNOnt!

Always really fresh and good tasting coffee here. The breakfast items are well priced and also tasty. Not a fan of medium or light roasts in general, but the dark roasts are among my favourites. Away from the maritimes, only Cafe Brulerie in Quebec has dark roasts that approach Java Blend quality. Fun fact: There used to be a coffee tree that frequently flowered inside. It's gone now, but I used some pollen from one of the flowers to pollinate my coffee tree, which now has cherries.

Over all a good experience. The cafe is quite packed both times i visited. The've got a good variety of different roasts, and it showes on the menu. My main draw is the latte. Comparatively speaking, it is quite good. Good amount of foam and flavour. The barista is well experienced, and is capable of latte art. Looks very busy behind the counter, which originally made me think crafting drinks is less of a speciality. However this is not the case. Over all a good experience

Best beans, especially dark roast, in the city and best chai latte I've ever had anywhere. Underpriced, casual interesting environment, and on sunny days there are a few seats outside on an active pedestrian and vehicular route so good people watching. Stocks local free publications and you can charge your phone inside. Follow the taped line to the public washroom out back and you can see the beans being roasted.

it's a nice small location at a slightly bad area (for parking/cars) but really good for walking to if you live near by. They have pretty good coffee for the type that I purchase (I don't drink it, the girlfriend does). They also have a good few little gluten-free/ natural snacks to purchase(some times a little pricey though). When I first started to go there the price for coffee (beans) was pretty good and cheaper then other locations mostly. Within the past 6 months to a year the price for coffee has gone up each time that I have been there to get coffee beans.
