Tasty food and a great atmosphere. Excited to go back! Edit: went back recently for their seasonal turkey and stuffing taiyaki and it was amazing! If you get a chance, I'd highly recommend trying it. Edit 2: They have rewards cards now! And their apple chai cider is the true flavour of the fall season. Pumpkin spice who? I don't know her.

I have been to Taiyaki 52 twice now and both experiences were great. The pastry is made to order and warm when it arrives to your table. The price is fair and the coffee is great. The loose leaf teas are all amazing as well. This cafe is one of my new favourite spots and I will be back many times in the future. Updating this since it's been a while. I have been to Taiyaki52 too many times now to count over the past few years. They have only gotten better. Absolutely wonderful food, drinks, and people. I hope they continue their success and I'll be back often.

The lunch I had was unbelievably delicious and exactly what I was looking for! I had the tuna and kimchi hot sandwich and it was so satisfying. The coffee was delicious and it smelled absolutely mouth-watering in that restaurant the entire time! I highly recommend you try this place out!!

Cafe Taiyaki is the perfect date spot in Halifax. Their decor is cosy and bright, and the food is always delicious and comforting. The mini gangs also make it an excellent place to bring picky kids! A definite stop.

It has been four months or so since we were last at Cafe Taiyaki. Walking up to the cafe the first thing we noticed were Christmas style lights draped across the windows and inside, gone was the crisp, clean, tidy Cafe Taiyaki we had come to know and expect. It appears the cafe is going in a new direction with everything from cupcakes, Italian soda, ice cream, pizza style pastry to public notices taped to the walls ...counters were cluttered. We were disappointed it has become just another common, independent coffee shop and not the destination coffee shop it was for us ... the coffee itself was fine.

Amazing coffee and treats.. My sister celebrated her graduation with the Jaw Dropper and was very happy with the fish cone and red bean filling.. The staff were very nice and even gave her a takeout bag of mini gangs with matcha to go! Definitely recommend checking this cute clean spot out!

It was all the hype when it opened, but for the three times I've been there, I always have to wait 30 minutes+ for a smoothie, tayaki, or a slice of cake. There shouldn't be excuses for delays on food that are pre-made and on the shelf. The food there is pretty average, not worth the price for the stale, shriveled, and dry piece of pastry. And for a small cafe, it is surprisingly loud in there, the smoothie machine would kill my eardrums.

I haven’t tried any of their other stuff, but if you are looking at their dessert menu and want to go in and order, be prepared for no less than 20 mins (if not more). This has happened a couple of times, there is usually 1-2 people working. Their food is great, selection is unique but it’s sort of pointless if you can’t get served.

Theres no wrong order here, but the sweet and spicy pulled chicken sandwich may be the closest to nirvana you'll ever get. Plus, great vegan and gluten free options that actually taste amazing! Cannot reccomend enough. I'd give 100 stars if I could.

We had been seeing these pictures of fish shaped pastries everywhere and heard so many recommendations, so we decided to give them a try. We got a party pack of 18 mini gangs with three flavours, blue berry cream cheese, apple cinnamon and carmelized pineapple. Both the apple and pineapple fillings had ok flavour. The blueberry cream cheese was a bit disappointing as the filling in the center was non-existent besides a lite smear. The pastry dough was soft, but bland. The services was quick and polite. The cafe had an interesting vibe and unique decor. All in all cute cafe with unique vibe and product, but is a little disappointing in the flavour department.

Definitely a hidden gem!! I visited this place right when it first opened up a few years ago and it's been my favourite place to eat in the city ever since. This place is so cute and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The food is amazing! They offer both sweet and savory taiyaki so there's something for everyone. The people who work here are incredibly sweet and it's always a pleasure speaking with them whenever I come in. They're super helpful and don't mind explaining how ordering taiyaki works to newcomers. I highly recommend their banana milk tea!! They're also open for delivery on Ubereats!

Cafe Taiyaki is by far one of my favorite places in the city! The staff has always been kind to me, and the service immaculate even if they're getting slammed. I'll admit that I mostly stick to the sweet side of the menu! Generally I'll crush a Naked duo (matcha and red bean for me. I know it's not for everyone, but I really really do suggest you try ref bean at least once) and an Americano. Of you're reading this in the summer, absolutely great yourself to some ice cream. You will not regret it. Still with an Americano though. Life is about balance.

A great nice spot either for an afternoon dessert break or for breakfast. The highlight is the variety of sweet and savoury Asian waffles (including gluten free waffles), and the assortment of gluten free muffins and delicious brownies. If you’re visiting the Citadel nearby pay Taiyaki a visit! It’s even worth the walk from the harbourfront.

My Girlfriend and I love this place! A bright beautiful cafe with an awesome menu and great prices. The cream is very good, I can see that it is just right because it is very malleable. This store seems to have a business scope that is partial to dessert but has a sandwich. The ingredients look very high, but the price of the squid that I ordered is not expensive. They also have a party size squid, which is a good dessert at the party. The storefront environment is also very good, and the light transmission is very good. Next time I have a chance to taste the squid and sandwich. Nice place to go for a tastey and delicious dessert. There are different varieties and vegan options, it is more pricey than average similar places. I love the atmosphere and the location near downtown, but it is harder to find a close parking spot. Children are welcome.

Great atmosphere, and delicious desserts! We got addicted to “ mini gangs” a while ago, tried it with nutella and red bean filling, both are good but Nutella filling is the best one for me. Tried the savory classic taiyaki with spinach and feta, and I wasn’t a big fan of it. I would definetely recommend to try mini gangs!!

I am in love with the interior of this cafe! It feels like something out of a trendy design magazine and makes for a chic spot to meet for coffee and muffins. The lattes and hot chocolate are some of the bests in the city and the owner is extremely kind and welcoming. I personally love taiyaki and I am not a huge fan of dessert in general but there is something special about eating a fish shaped waffle filled with red bean or something sweet. They are sweet but not too sweet. We had the Hot Chocolate, the Mini Gangs (with red bean and matcha custard filling)and the Jaw Dropper with their secret ice cream flavor (its black coconut and it's DELICIOUS!) They don't always have it so check before you go in. Service and cleanliness were both excellent. I loved their decor. Great place for a date.

Great food. Great customer service and unique in halifax. I haven't tried their fish waffle ice cream but their fish waffle with stuffing is great. I tried chocolate flavour and it tasted like nutella and their blueberry tasted more like jam. I didn't like that one but matcha custard and vanilla custard tasted great. You also get option to make your fish waffle crispy but it tastes great as it is already. I would definitely recommend it to try this place out.

I loved my first visit to Cafe Taiyaki today, and from this experience I would highly recommend checking them out! I had the “Naked Duo” in Vegan Batter with Sweet Red Bean in one and Caramelized Pineapple in the other and could recommend both! I also had the savoury Sweet Chili Tofu and that was so good. I also had the Gingerbread Latte and it was yummy and beautiful too, and next time I’d just ask for a bit more of the syrup to make it more *spicy*. If you need somewhere to work on a laptop, the environment here is perfect as there’s outlets for your laptop, the environment is cozy, happy and clean, and the music they play is a mix of everything and was honestly 10/10. It had Tom Odell, Halsey, Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Migos, Drake, amongst others and I brought headphones but tbh the playlist was so fire I didn’t need them.

Our favourite dessert treat in Halifax. Get the jawbreaker (big ice cream cone shaped like a fish) with matcha ice cream and red bean filling. It’ll change your life. Not too sweet and good matcha flavour. Yum! Staff is friendly and fantastic too.

Food is ok. 3 employees behind the desk. Any customer to serve and in the place. 5 minutes before getting a quick “hi” without smile and being able to order. 20 minutes just to get a waffle and a coffee … coffee without the draws in the cream. Very unpleasant experience. That’s a pity because the waffle is ok. Ohhh … and no one in the 3 employees able to say “thank you and good bye”.

Discovered this place randomly while walking towards a brewery house. To be honest I really thought this was a Takoyaki House (Japanese Octopus Deep Fried Balls) but when I step inside, it seem to cute for it to be. Later on the day, gave it a second thought and I look them up to see the menu and little did I know it was a savoury / dessert place. I was kinda disappointed since I thought it was a takoyaki I was craving for some. BUT why not give this place a try. Came mid-afternoon for a snack and the interior is very modern and nice. Music was at a good level for having a conversation. They make all the Taiyaki’s to order so they were very fresh and piping hot. Their are multiple options for the fillings which was a nice change, but I had to get the OG flavour which was red bean. It was pretty good especially with the whip cream they provide for it. I regret not getting the Jaw Dropper which is the Taiyaki crust as a cone and either mango or matcha ice cream or even a twist. Next time when I venture the east coast definitely coming back to this place. Great work!

Neat concept but not worth it. The food was okay, if overpriced, but that is what you expect with a restaurant like this. Unbelievably slow! We ordered three things, 2 of which took a half an hour to be served, while the third was almost 40 minutes. 40 minutes for a bacon and egg sandwich!

Cute little cafe near downtown Halifax! The savoury and sweet waffles are sooooo good! The flat white is descent but the service was great too. You should get there before 5 or 6pm because they can run out of the more popular flavoured waffles

One of my favourite cafes in the city! If I can’t make it in before work, I will order my ham and cheese taiyaki and my taiyaki bites from Uber Eats. Even when ordering, I get cute messages written on my order box every time. It’s the added personal touches, the great quality of food and reasonable prices that make me a loyal customer!

Very lovely experience. I like their interior and inside vibe. Very friendly staff and great customer service. In terms of food, they have a variety of options both savory and sweet. Their waffle fish shape is so cute and tasty! I like their maple touch on the sandwiches. Very nice cafe. Highly recommend it

Lots of bad reviews on here about the customer service. I'm guessing they're working on it and deserve the chance- I found them nice and polite! Nothing too pushy but it was quick to order and our food came out pretty fast. We had the spicy pulled chicken sandwhich and two fish pastries- one vanilla custard and one blueberry cream cheese. I preferred the vanilla custard but both were nice. Cute esthetic and nice atmosphere overall. I would go back and try more things for sure!

Amazing cute place . Great treat I love to stop by for the seasonal specials or even just a Red Bean Taiyaki(my favourite) always fresh and warm made to order Taiyaki. The sandwich ones are also amazing the cheese is so good!
