Wonderful gem, lovely ambient and nice service. I tried the coffe and the croissant and both were good. They have small selection of food and drinks but their coffee is good. Lara, the owner is so sweet and friendly and has her family photos on the place. There is also a small bar in the place.

One of the few restaurants open late that allow you to sit in and work if you're a student who likes to study at night, or just relax. Music is a little loud which can be distracting, but that may have been because we went later. Staff are super friendly and made you feel welcome.

My wife and I went in last week. Nice little café, good coffee, fun crowd. Good location, and outdoor seating for when it's nice. I think our only constructive criticism was that the staff seemed rather disinterested and tired. Maybe it was just a rough day. Café Lara is good for a visit!

Great vibe to work or socialize in. Pretty busy spot and cozy so don't expect a quiet cafe experience (personally I love the buzz so this is a plus!) Great music playlist piped through the space. I love that the vibe is perfect for either a coffee meeting or beer catch-up with friends: them being a licensed cafe is perfect. Also a happening spot some evenings for live music or entertainment, so be sure to call ahead in case a more quieter work session was what you had in mind. Lovely edition to the neighbourhood, so happy this place exists!

Cute little cafe. With great chocolatines. I also ordered a chai latte, however they added wayyyy to much cinnamon to the point my tea was gritty. It tasted fine just a little too much texture for my taste. It gets quite busy so if you don’t mind a bit of background noise for studying it’s great.

Impeccable vibes. Beautiful lighting and atmosphere, a wonderful place to study, visit with friends, or take a date. They even have some board games, cards, and pencil crayons in their cafe. The warm smell of croissants wafts through the cafe and the pain au chocolat is not to be missed. Delicious chocolate and with flakey buttery pastry, it's to die for. The chai latte was underwhelming, but still delicious. They have lots inclusive milk options as well. Definitely worth a visit.

I've been there twice. Not impressed. Staff not friendly at all, food overpriced (and coffee is watered down) Nowhere to sit. Culturally, Lara's is "sterile" in a neighborhood known for way more cooler, hipper & friendlier people and surrounding businesses. This new place is sort of a waste of a good location. Bring back the old laundromat!

A very nice place. Today, had a pot of tea, and was surprised by the very reasonable price. Excellent service, and someone was setting up to play. As a working musician, this was just the thing to see. I rate this establishment at an easy 5 stars.

I forgot to take pics as I was there for a meeting, but DAMN! This place is great! It's beautifully designed on the inside, the food was delicious, and for a small-ish spot they maximize the usage of the space and our conversation felt very private - lots of seating and we didn't feel like we were right on top of anyone else. It was busy at lunch on a weekday and I can see why - great spot worth checking out if you're feeling peckish or need a caffeine boost when in the North End.

Great place to hangout with the stranger you just met or if you're going on a coffee date with the girl you just met in the bus. Awesome work-slash-study environment. Timely preparation and friendly staffs. I wish I could give the extra star but during my visit, my cocoa had a bit too much milk in it that it almost overpowered the cocoa. The first few sips were great until a bit later when the cocoa taste started to fade rather quickly.

Very clean. The atmosphere is nice but the music is loud. It has good variety of coffee and teas and other cold drinks. Their coffee and tea are good. It is environment friendly and they bake their own pies, they have other food options as well. Parking can easily be found but the cafe itself is small and can get busy.

A very cosy cafe with a warm hardwood aesthetic and roomy layout. Their tea service is good, with a pot of tea to yourself and a saucer and cup; I asked for honey and cream and got tons to spare in little silver pots. There's a small bar with liquor, and beer on draught. I've had samosas and chocolate coconut cookie things, and it's all good. The staff will bring food over when it's ready. There's patio seating out front for about a dozen people, and generous windows to look through. I like this place most out of the other cafes I've been to in downtown Halifax.

I live on Barrington Street, and still bypass all of the Cafes in between so I can enjoy the wonderful atmosphere that Cafe Lara provides. The coffee is delicious, as are the treats and croissant sandwiches. Lara is not just a pretty face, as she always makes me feel welcome every time I walk through the door! Great staff, cool vibe.. Highly recommend :)

A sizeable open space to catch up with friends or a good book. Lara is an incredible young entrepreneur; sweet as can be! Check out this cafe and keep coming back for more!

Friendly staff nice clean modern atmosphere. The big windows that open in the front make the whole place very open and bright. The coffee was legit delicious!! There were little baguette sandwiches with brie cheese that looked delicious! Quiche and a few sweet selections would make a great snack. They also seemed to have a great smoothie selection. Wifi seemed fast and consistent. There was also a selection of wine and I didn't see what was included in the taps but there was a liquor licence posted so they at least serve wine in the evenings, I didn't see a menu for that so I may have been there too early. It was a bit crowded when I for there at 11am but there were tables available 15 or 20 minutes in. There were several seating options. Lower dining style and comfy chairs as well as tall bar height tables and counter seating at the window and bar area. Recommended.

I'll start off by saying it's excellent. The location is great, right in a pretty active part of Halifax. The cafe itself opens up on hot summers days for some fresh air while also having some outdoor seating. The beverages were excellent with a cold option being very welcome. We had a iced coffee (black) and a matcha latte (no sugar or sweetener) as well as a chocolate coconut ball. The iced coffee was good, not bitter, just a smooth cup of cold coffee. The iced matcha was good as well, with a strong enough matcha taste. The star was the coconut ball. I am however a bit biased toward coconut. A good dark chocolate taste coated every coconut piece. Prices was good, average for the locale and quality of goods.
