This place has convinced me that it is worthy of the title best coffee in town. The pour overs of unique roasts are very tasty. I recommend the Mexican Li Maya. Between that excellence in coffee and the large amount of seating available, this is a great go to for downtown meetings. My only reservation in recommending it is that I don't personally like their cold brew coffee. But even that is worth trying to see if you disagree.

Okay coffee even if it is a little pricy. Not sure why they call it planet bean. It is in Guelph not in outer space. I guess their pricing is out of this world. The employees have a bit of an attitude of superiority but I guess if you make and serve coffee for a living you can be proud if your work. It is an important job because we all like our coffee.

Very good coffee and most of the time the staff is excellent! I used to be a regular in there to the point where the barista knew the way I liked my coffee and would ask if that was what I wanted before I even offered. I really enjoy the gluten free chocolate chip cookies here as well as they are always soft and can pull apart easily unlike the ones you usually receive at coffee shops. Highly recommend!

Great Guelph spot for the coffee lover in you. We stop here whenever we're in downtown Guelph (there are several good restaurants we like in the area), as they really do make a great cup of coffee. Their lattes and capps are amazing and my seventeen year-old daughter loves their mochas. Pastry selection (being European, a definite must with very good coffee) is actually pretty good, but I really enjoy their almond biscotti. Order a coffee, have a seat and enjoy some good conversation. You can't go wrong with place place.

What can I say... I don't think you can live in Guelph for years and not become indoctrinated in the Planet Bean way. I love their values. Their tea is good. I like all of their locations to meet up with someone. And their treats are unique and 'surprisingly' (for me) tasty. I've always had a good experience with their baristas. When I'm walking around downtown they are my choice for a quick tea on the go.

I’ve been here many times. Nice selection of medium roast coffees that stand head and shoulders above the stale, burnt, &/or artificially flavoured stuff available at my Zehrs. Kinda pricey, but worth it. Nice bold fruit, nut, and chocolate flavours to be found in their roasts. They serve a number of different coffees, plus some coffee bar biscotti, tarts, etc, and some juices. I’d recommend a light roast triple Americano with a lemon or almond bar. They also have a wall of regional event flyers and similar media. The staff’s nice. Some of them tend to take their time making an order, and while I’ve been surprised by some items (eg. their macchiato is much sweeter than I expected), I’ve never been disappointed. High ceilings and wide windows, a fair amount of seating. Either the floor or the tables can be uneven in parts, so don’t slam your hands down in shock at Guelph’s regional politics, unless you hate your scarf, like I did. That’s to say, tables can be wobbly, so try not to spill. There’s a bike rack on the corner, and a few other racks nearby. A few spots for parking snake around the corner, but they’re frequently occupied.

They seem to close (I have gone 40 minutes before the closing time to get turned away and told they are closed) when they want to and have a hipster attitude. Very rude service. They took my order (Latte with almond milk) and then when the barista was making it, I got yelled at for ordering almond milk because they don't use it. Well, that is not my fault. I want to support local businesses but not when I am treated so rudely. Smarten up Planet Bean!

I don't understand how anybody can rave about this coffee. I agree that if you are fortunate to get a fresh cup it is acceptable but my experience is that most of the time its more than 1/2 hr old and held in a carafe. This is not what I call a premium coffee house. I understand their policy is 45 minutes before they discard it. Customer service is not anything special and there is no loyalty program. Sorry but if I'm paying premium prices, I expect at least a fresh cup of coffee.

Friendly service and above average desserts, but I wish they had a better selection of hot foods. Okay so that was my review three years ago. I find the service to be a little short and snippy. They aren’t as warm and friendly as I’d expect in the service industry. I appreciate that this is a cooperative and hope the employees are paid fairly. I visit at least once a week. The drinks and snacks are a bit pricey, but the coffee is ethically sourced so that could explain it. Since my last review I’ve had a chance to try many of their hot beverages and their almond bars are exceptional. I believe they get them from a third party.

Planet Bean is always an inexplicable experience for me. Their coffee is good but the baristas take their time- hot drinks are slow to come out. There is often no breakfast-y food to speak of, instead overwhelmingly sweet desserts, and then a few nut and seed type bars.

Beans are usually great, I pull their stellar espresso at home and love it. The downtown Guelph location has lots of seating. One of the few coffee places I know that will serve drinks with any of their beans, not just one or two blends they have in the hopper. Highly recommended.

Love Planet Bean's coffee and their preference for fair trade items. Also, one of the few places that are a co-op, which is surprisingly rare in Ontario. Greate for meetings and hangouts alike. Just wish you didn't need a key to get into the bathroom. This feels odd and unnecessary to me. Also really like that they sell coffee beans here from their fair trade suppliers. They also have baked good, and cake / dessert type things too. Many people have said this is the best coffee in town, so, try for yourself!

The coffee is reliably very good and occasionally great. I appreciate their commitment to fair trade beans, and their overall support for quirky people and all things indie. They lose one star for being nasty toward me and my service dog in training on more than one occasion. NB. Not a therapy dog, but a service dog with a nationally registered training organization. Downtown I prefer The Common, despite all the infants. Overall its nice to have great coffee options within easy walking distance.

Love Planet Bean. Some of the best coffees I've had in my life have been here. The secret to freshness is not the time from opening or grinding your beans, it is the time from roasting. Planet Bean roasts their beans locally and they are mostly if not all Fair Trade, so you can feel good about where the coffee came from. My favourite to brew at home is Mexican Chiapas. When I drink there, I usually have a mocha made with cocoa camino dark chocolate powder. The baristas are pros and know how to pull a proper espresso. This is the real deal.

Planet Bean coffee is the only coffee we brew at home, particularly their Yirgacheffe bean. Lots of other selections too but Yirg is just the right balance - light and flavourful. However, nothing tops the Port aged oak barrel coffee! Anything special lined up for this Christmas?!

Despite a nice logo, spacious deck, and overall appealing initial Impression, I cannot recommend this location. The coffee was stale and served from old large steel drums. The prices are expensive. I couldn't finish my drink as I was afraid it's would cause harm to my internals. Do not visit. Guelph has several nicer coffee shops in a walking distance.

I LOVE the fact that all the coffee is fair trade, that warms my heart. I just wish they had different options for non-dairy milk. I am allergic to soy and there have been a few times that accommodations for certain drinks couldn't be made for me. Makes me rather go home and just make myself a hot drink.

Excellent locally roasted organic fair trade coffee. Sold as beans as well as fresh brewed, with great care put in to crafting the best cup from each of their selection of beans. Nice selection of treats as well, and some brewing gear for sale. The ambiance for sitting in could be improved.

Fresh roasted beans, excellent coffee, yummy treats, (vegan + gluten free options) tons of places to sit and enjoy a beverage or get some work done, or meet someone and opportunities to support fair trade crafters and farmers. It is arguably the best place to get a coffee while downtown. Following a logical set-up, the layout of the coffee house allows for easy navigability of the space whether you are laden w/a stroller, kinders, or use a mobility device. Located at an opposite corner to the Guelph Central commuter station, this location is accessible, operates ethically and is a staple of the downtown core.

Wi-Fi is a hidden message this location but more importantly is the ambulance it has the feel of a cafeteria it's loud sound bounces off the walls and it's not really that great of a location. I find the servers a little bit snotty and overall not really the warmest experience. The only thing going forward is at the coffee is roasted locally it's fair trade in the summer they have an excellent selection of gelato

Planet bean is one of my favorite coffee shops in town. They have great coffee and pastries, as well as a cozy yet spacious sitting area. The staff has always been very friendly as well. The wifi is a bit on the slow side, making it difficult to come and work remotely, but that's a minor inconvenience overall. I'll be back many times, I'm sure!
