Definitely my go-to cafe for take away or sit in! I have tried EVERY chai latte in guelph and this is by far THE best one hands down. Kevin and the other woman who is always happy to take my order (I'm sorry I forget your name! Tall, short hair, always great conversation) are always super pleasant and the food is always delicious. I've tried other drinks from the menu as well from the protein shake to Americano and nothing ever disappoints. Thanks for being such a great Guelph spot! I always look forward to stopping in.

One of my favourite cafes in Guelph. Really nice menu, lots of options, including vegetarian options. Drinks are excellent. I often come here between appointments downtown, since the location is so good. The London fog and leek-parmesan pastry are my recommendations!

This was a very good experience as always at Capistrano. There are plenty of vegetarian options and the service is professional. I highly recommend the feta bagel and the chickpea salad sandwiches. The price is a bit more than your average cafe, but the ingredients are quality.

The perfect new casual patio downtown Guelph. A panini or salad for lunch makes a great spot to watch the Friday Summer Concert series. I love the Sicilian panini and their cheddar scones are good too. Recently discovered they serve wine and beer too. I plan to meet friends and colleagues there too. A great spot.

Use to be a daily stop of mine for my morning brew and occasionally another treat (e.g. banana choc. muffin). My morning schedule changed so now I don’t frequent it as often but that’s the only reason. Friendly staff who remember your face and how you like your orders which always is a huge bonus!!

My spouse and I had a nice lunch here last week. It opens right onto St. Georges Square and has outdoor tables that customers can use. We had the Cob salad and soup combo. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation was nice. We ate inside and the antique mirrors on the wall made the space look large and light. Overall, it was great value.

Server was very rude.. we were asked to get up and leave from patio because our 2 kids had a hot dog from vendor. My self and my wife were consuming from the cafe, but still asked to leave the patio. I was told about rude owner and heard some stories, but still we were there once or twice. Never going there again!

Delighted to have Capistrano back! Have always enjoyed our espresso on our weekly visits downtown however thrilled with the expanded lunch menu! A perfect summer lunch with a crisp white wine for quaffing. The patio is a touch of Europe.,, anyone up for an afternoon vacation. The warm reception makes one feel just that much better whether errands or a shopping on these hot summer days!

I've never experienced such terrible service in a cafe before. The drinks at this cafe are pretty good, but when I went in yesterday, a woman was chatting with the only barista behind the counter about a recent trip for almost five minutes before placing her order. Though the barista and I made eye contact multiple times, the barista made no effort to indicate that she would take my order soon, or to ask her friend if they could pause their conversation for two minutes so I could place my order. Instead, she asked several more questions of her friend, and prolonged the conversation, all while I was obviously waiting to order. I work in retail and have worked in food service, and would never dream of leaving a customer waiting just so that I could have a chat with a visiting friend. Definitely never coming back to Capistrano's.

Started frequenting this place when I began working around the corner. Found it pleasant, friendly, and courteous. Staff are nice and the food is great. The only downside is that there sometimes can be a bit of wait for food, but the staff are clearly doing their best so it's barely an inconvenience. Plus it's an independent business so definitely worth supporting.

This is a fairly small place that's not necessarily a destination spot for families to travel a good amount of distance for. With that said, it's very affordable and well-suited to families who have kids in the 3-12 age range. A great spot for locals or if you happen to be with your family in the area.

High quality food and drinks for a reasonable price. Their paninis are really good, and their dirty chais are amazing! I've read several reviews about poor quality service (slow and rude), and my disagreement is actually what prompted me to write this review. I'm pretty sure this place is family-owned and run, as I've only ever seen two employees there (well, I'm sure there are more in the kitchen). Because of this, the service is slower than a franchise-type location, but they make everything as fast as they can and it's always nice and hot when it gets to you. I've also always found the employees really friendly and personable. I would caution against penalizing independent businesses for not performing as though they were large corporations, as that attitude can quickly ruin the heart and vibe of a predominantly local downtown!
