(Translated) An interesting place where you can relax while having a good coffee and tasting good pastries. (Original) Un endroit intéressant où il fait bon relaxer tout en buvant un bon café et dégustant de bonnes pâtisseries.
Food was awful
(Translated) Small sandwich shop and local pastry offering excellent food cooked on site. Very fresh, clean, nice atmosphere and the lemon tart is amazing. (Original) Petite sandwicherie et pâtisserie locale offrant d'excellents mets cuisinés sur place. Très frais, propre, belle ambiance et la tartelette aux citrons est incroyable.
Okay but very noisy. Popular but not for us.
Service is great, wait times are short, Staff are skilled and friendly, pastries are well made.(I have only disliked one so far, and that was just a personal taste issue, not the quality of the pastry.) I would highly recommend a lime Italian soda, and some macarons.
Great treats and a great staff!
Omg so delish.
Good coffee. Nice place to meet and chat.
Staff is always so kind and welcoming! Food and drinks are SOOO tasty!
This is a great little place for coffee and a little treat. There is a lot to choose from - hard to pick just one hahaha. We'll certainly be back. Absolutely delicious ????????????
My husband and I went to this cute cafe in the afternoon on February 28, 2015. All of the deserts looked delicious and it was hard for us to choose what to get. We spent a few minutes to decide and finally he ordered Paradis cake and I got a fruit tart. They were great. My husband thought Paradis would be like a key lime pie but the texture was actually softer than a key lime pie. My fruit tart had 7 different types of fruits on it. I was surprised to see they used star fruit on the top. We were sitting in the little booth off to the side. I think that spot is the best spot in the cafe because it is kind of separate from other seats if no one is waiting for the washroom. It also gave us wonderful light and a large ceiling high window to look out. Overall we had a great experience with the cafe and would try their big macaroons.
Lovely little place with great food and drinks. Macarons are kind of famous. :) Usually busy, and very small - it's hard to find a seat, but worth it.
One of Fredericton's best coffee shops, the food and drinks are really on point. It's a quiet and quaint space too.
Amazing cold brew coffee
Best breakfast sandwich in the city!
Had a really mixed experience at chess Piece Patisserie and Cafe during my stay in fredericton. I read the name of chess piece almost in every list mentioning best places for dessert in fredericton. During our first visit, we ordered a 24 karat cake which was really fresh and tasty. Second time, we visited this cafe to have a good coffee and dessert. When we entered the place, it was smelly may be because of small area. We ordered choco nutter mousse and cappuccino. Honestly, i had cappuccino at so many good places and it was not even close to that. Choco nutter mousse had a perfect balancing sugary content which made our coffee bearable. Overall, our visit totally resulted into a huge disappointment.
Too fancy for Fredericton! Love it though.
Vert pleasant and attentive
Great place to try-out
Such a staple in downtown Freddy - we are truly lucky to have such an amazing patisserie at our doorstep! For you out-of-towners, try the New Brunswick Fog Latte (I like it with almond milk) - it tastes just like blueberry pancakes <3
Great coffee
Absolutely perfect lemon tart served by an utterly charming gentlemen.
Very tasty and great service!
Great cold brew and fantastic peanut butter cookie.
Best chai latte I have ever had. This place is so cozy, you can relax and chat for hours here. It has a lounge atmosphere and the pastries are to die for.
Thanks for the great service this morning. Made me smile !
It was good
An absolute must if you are in Fredericton!!
Cozy place and the food is beautiful to look at and taste. It's probably Fredericton's most upscale place for coffee and pastries. Do recommend!
Great cakes, macaroons, croissants, and coffee
Just awesome!
Place was very nice food was delicious enjoyed my experience there
Great coffee and pastries in a quaint and quiet spot.
Always amazing treats. Only complaint sometimes it takes forever to get a coffee!!
Wonderful treasure. I'm so happy we found this bakery on our way passing through Fredericton, well worth the stop if you're looking for a Parisian style bakery.
Nothing beats their pasteries
cute and cozy cafe with a pretty big selection of hot & cold drinks plus pastries both sweet and savoury.
Closest to europe you can get
Best croissants in the city!
Amazing coffee! The light and dark roasts are always smooth and delicious. Definitely one of the best places in the city for coffee. Their desserts are in great portions and many styles and flavors. Perfectly paired to the coffee! You get what you pay for with the desserts. The location is nice and cozy. A subtle amount of background noise from the other patrons helps to create a great atmosphere. Always a go to for me!
cozy and tasty.
One of best espresso in Fredericton.
The cakes were quite good, as were the beverages. Staff were aloof and uninviting. I felt as if I was inconveniencing them with my presence. Consider training or hiring employees who can feign a modicum of friendliness during interactions with customers. Additionally, better planning with ensuring the kitchen is stocked with the ingredients necessary to make advertised items is essential (no breakfast sandwiches on a weekend shortly after opening?).
Comfy little spot with awesome treats. A favorite.
They have the most delicious food and deserts
Food was good and service was fast. I was about to knock a star off as I found the place small (cramped) and the selection a bit limited, but then I revised myself; this place is small, and it do what it does well, very well. I'm sure it will eventually expand to a larger place, larger kitchen and larger selection. Good work guys :)
(Translated) Excellent! Fresh pastries ambiences that has cachet and local products. The sausage roll is to try and the lemon pie. Wow! (Original) Excellent! Pâtisseries fraîches ambiances qui a du cachet et produits locaux. Le sausage roll est à essayer et la tarte aux citrons. Wow!
Great coffee and sweets
Pricey, but SO delicious
The Chess Piece Pâtisserie is, hands down, one of the finest places a person can eat in the province. The food is always fresh and excellent, from salty and savory quiche, to herbaceous sandwiches, to buttery soft desserts and delectable coffees. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Looking for a place to satisfy your sweet tooth. This is the place to go. All food looked like it was made with fresh and quality ingredients. The caffeine products are typical of a café. The outside seating was nice and private. Looking forward to being downtown Fredericton and stumbling apon this establishment.
Just awesome pastries! Carrot cake is the best I have had in Fredericton.
Amazing little coffee shop with great deserts and quality coffee
Wonderful little space, fantastic desserts and drinks, and a charming ambience with comfy seats and friendly staff. The little caramel cakes are the best desserts in town bar none, and if you match one with the apple cider you have an lovely little date for less than $25.
Delicious ice cream sandwiches and coffees! The macarons are pretty good but it’s their baked goods (pain au chocolat and cakes) which I find particularly worthwhile. The only gripe I have is the lack of seating, but there isn’t much that can be done about that.
I looove their millefeuilles! So delicious!
Wow what nice treats. They are well presented and taste amazing. The staff if friendly and knowledgeable about the pastries and drink they sell. Its usually busy but totally worth coming for that occasion treat.
Hazenut latte was sweeter than I was expecting but was absolutely delicious. Also really enjoyed the quiche as a light breakfast. Very cute cafe with good service.
The pastries are out of this world!!!! They will satisfy your sweet tooth!!
Cozy atmosphere with good food
Chess Piece is easily the best place to get any baked goods in New Brunswick. I ordered a cake from them this past week and it was incredible, best I have ever had. I would highly suggest everyone order their cakes for any event at Chess Piece!
(Translated) We stopped for breakfast. Good coffee and great assortment of pastries. Good site. (Original) Paramos para desayunar. Buen café y gran surtido de pastas. Buen sitio.
A wonderful local coffee spot. Their freshly made treats are to die for, and I highly recommend the breakfast croissants
Great dessert, good coffee, just a bit small but still lovely!
Pastry and great espresso combined with a cozy atmosphere make for a pleasant experience.
Possibly my favourite little place in Fredericton! Amazing desserts and drinks.
The food is pretty gnarly if u ask me and those croissants do be smacking so I believe ill have to give this 5 stars. Even with covid business is still booming and u know they getting their coin. Keep doing what you're doing sis and that's on PERIOD.
Great atmosphere and good macarons. Will be back to try more of their desserts.
Wonderful tasting fresh food and a great atmosphere.
Excellent coffees, and a lovely assortment of fresh desserts. It's very popular and seating is limited so be prepared to take items to go.
It was delicious
Delicious, and cute place!
Omg so delish.
If you are looking for elegant desserts, pastries, delicious lunch options then enter the doors of this cafe and be treated royally by the staff. I have sampled a few of their items here and have never been disappointed. I love that all staff will help you and not just the person serving you. It truly is a team effort. I trusted them on the day before my early getaway for my 25th Anniversary to have something my wife and I would enjoy for breakfast. It wasn't really breakfast food, it was more of an indulgence. The Rhubarb Fraisiere and a Fruit Tart were delicious with coffee when we woke up in our RidgeBack Dream Dome looking over the sunny Kingston Peninsula area.
A wonderful little bakery. Delicious macaroons
Cozy downtown café. Good lattés and pastries. Interesting people.
Fantastic cosy atmosphere and brilliantly friendly staff, however the food quality isn't as good as you'd expect unfortunately. The matcha is poor quality (the good quality, eye-wateringly expensive stuff is bright green whereas this is very dark and overly-bitter and doesn't seem to mix well). The cake that I chose had no flavour, despite the promise of blueberries and white chocolate. They all looked really good and I had great difficulty choosing, but was sad that the taste didn't match my (admittedly high) expectations. This is a really lovely and pleasant café so I hope this review can be constructive in making it even better.
Awful service and problematic management. They won't serve those who are unvaccinated, which is understandable if they expect to eat indoors, but they won't even serve them take out. Additionally some of the workers are not professional and gossip while working, loud enough for customers to hear.
They had very little pastry left when we got There, and the scone that I ordered was very dry. But, they had other pastries that weren't the worst.
Delicious croissant. Better than decent Americano but too watery. Super cute vibe.
Excellent quality worth the price.
I like it. Baked goods are good. Coffee is alright. Friendly service.
My favourite coffee place in town!
Excellent cakes and macrons. I have been very impressed with the detail and decoration on custom cakes.
Ordered a small ice latte and got charge for the price of large... Barista was dishonest and rude. Not a nice experience overall.
Great coffee and service with a smile.
Their food and pastries are both delicious and beautiful. Their shortbread cookies that they make for Christmas are my favourites of their more simple items. …
Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic coffee! I had an unbelievable almond croissant with my dark roast while glancing over the paper then took a sausage roll for later. The quality of everything was shockingly high and the whole experience was indulgent. I will be back soon!
Great coffee
Best cheesecake for downtown cafes I have tried so fa
The perfect spot to grab a quick snack, or get a dessert for a special occasion. Their macrons are unbelievable and I love how unique their flavours are. I've loved everything I've had here. …
I got the pain au chocolat, it's was delicious, and a good price.
Absolutely fantastic. Little bit pricy though,
Great service and even better pastries. The Bluette is unbelievable and the Opera Torte is a must-have for any coffee lover.
Love this cafe. Great desserts and drinks. Great cozy atmosphere. Good place for dates, studying and meeting with friends
Super fast and delicious
Zero customer service. I went here tonight for my birthday. Barista never said hello. Desserts looked a day or so old. Cramped place. Coffee was good. Payment automatically wanted 20% tip, for lackluster service it was too much. For two staff there and only two customers they could have looked happier and brought over the coffee.
Amazing desserts!
Good coffee. Nice place to meet and chat.
Nice spot for a coffee and some treats. Great casual atmosphere.
Great selection of delicious baked goods and fresh coffee. Great atmosphere, forgot where I was for a moment.
Great food not just tasting but visually
If you are a dessert or pastry fan, even if you're not, make your way to chess piece! I ordered a sandwich for lunch which was so artfully made I wanted to order another one. I also ordered one of the tasty treats but had a very difficult time choosing just one! If I could have I would have bought everything! The place is small and quaint and the atmosphere is great! Unbelievable nice people working as all. If it were socially acceptable I would have licked my plate of tiramisu clean!
It's a beautiful place and very welcoming and warming. I totally love it and recommend it
Meh
Been there once and had their coffee and macaroons. Both were great! Quaint little spot. Il be going back when in the area for sure!
The macaroon's are delicious, and the coffee is wonderful. We are on a vacation from Maine and Chess Piece has been a really nice part of the trip.
The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly! Chess Piece has amazing treats and everything is fairly priced. I definitely reccomend their vegan cheesecakes!
Happy with what I get anytime I visit here! Location is tiny but not usually overcrowded. A great spot for a tasty latte and dessert. Sometimes find things overpriced though.
Love it!
Awesome macarons, cozy environment and a wide variety of hot beverages.
Great food nice little cafe. Fruit was nice and fresh would love to go agian and try more.
Love Chess piece bakery. Since CoVid started we are now not able to celebrate team birthdays with a lunch. We have started a new team tradition of buying and dropping off a Chess Piece cake for birthdays. Thanks for being part of this new tradition!
I tried this walnut crunch they make, similar to the old school Tim Hortons walnut Crunch. It was literally the best thing I've ever ate in my life. Coffee and other treats are delicious as well
Had a leisurely late afternoon lunch Quiche, Salad à delicious Hot Chocolate and two Macaroons...Salted Caramel and Strawberry Champagne...reminded me of Duchess in Edmonton. Don't miss this place.
Nice place. Different with something for everyone
Sweet place to visit, delicious choices, limited seating.
Am I ever not in here? This place is amazing and I'm constantly singing its praises. Run, don't walk! Seriously.
Perfectly made latte, plus warm and delicious croissants. My favorite is jam and cheese. Ah, don't missed the cinnamon bun.
Always delicious no matter what you get! Tried the croissants and sandwiches, yum!
(Translated) Small sandwich shop and local pastry offering excellent food cooked on site. Very fresh, clean, nice atmosphere and the lemon tart is amazing. (Original) Petite sandwicherie et pâtisserie locale offrant d'excellents mets cuisinés sur place. Très frais, propre, belle ambiance et la tartelette aux citrons est incroyable.
kind staff and great deserts!
Great spot for a coffee and a treat. Always have something different.
I always find things here look great but a lot of them don't taste as good as they look. Its not bad, but not great either. Its fine, but at an upscale price.
Chess Piece has some good espresso, great cheesecake, and friendly staff!
The loveliest mille feuille and macarons! And great staff at both locations!
I enjoy this little cafe! They have good coffee and tasty treats that are made on-site. The space is small but cozy and the staff are super nice.
Amazing place that serves amazing coffee! Lunch was great and the cakes were to die for!
It's a little small and often crowded, but for good reason. The treats are fairly priced for their truly memorable quality, the staff is always helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere is SO cozy! Love Chess Piece, go fairly often... The mushroom and onion tart, dark and candy cane hot chocolates (winter special) and troie chocolate sponge cake are my all-time favorites!
Very disorganized staff. But that's the only decent patisserie around :)
Sandwiches are the best in the city. Staff is incredible, fun and courteous. Coffee is on point. If there was a sixth star I would ask first a seventh.
Pastries are divine, shop is oh so cute, and staff are super friendly. Definitely recommend!
Was great little place !
Excellent and kind service, plus delicious sweets!
Come for a great cup of coffee, but don't expect anything else. Quaint cafe, but no breakfast food at all other than a chocolate croissant. Disappointing that they keep advertising breakfast sandwiches, since they don't make them.
Delicious desserts, nice staff, but a little pricey.
Wonderful food and friendly staff. My only complaint is that the lack of seating can make it impossible to sit during certain hours, but that also lends to it's charm during their quiet hours.
Stopped briefly with friends to acquire drinks and treats and enjoyed everything i got. While it would've been nice to have moved quicker through the line, things are made fresh and to order so it can only be expected. The dark hot chocolate was delightful and everyone in my party enjoyed what they got. (London fog and turtle latte IIRC) If you're looking for a small, cozy cafe with good drinks and atmosphere this would seem to check all the boxes.
Great atmosphere and pastries but the coffee has been a hit or miss affair over the past few months. Used to serve up great lattes and flat whites, as good as anywhere, but more like a lottery now. Hopefully they will get back on track.
Awesome, friendly staff, great coffee, and delicious desserts for every taste!
Excellent coffee and snacks
Best desserts around
Love this place so much! Everything is fresh and delicious. One of my favorite places to grab a soup and sandwich.
Great little spot for a sweet treat, great coffee and chats with friends.
Really great treats here
Worth every penny
Macaroons & Eclairs. Tasty & sweet.
love love love! best for take out as the inside is small but oh my gosh the treats are amazing... probably the best dessert in fredericton here ????
We tried to order a mocha cake with salted caramel frosting and s'mores style toppings yet somehow received plain chocolate with buttercream frosting and berry/candy style toppings. 40+ dollars for a custom cake and they couldn't even bother to remember what we ordered? The only thing they got right was the shape. I used to be a huge fan of this establishment but am extremely disappointed with my experience, especially with how rude the staff were when initially ordering the cake and when calling the day before to confirm it. Short form: I spent alot of money to be treated rudely and get a totally botched cake
Great coffee
nice little cafe
Delicious soups, home-made treats, and fresh hot drinks from one of my favorite cafés and pâtissiers in town. Don't leave Fredericton without trying the soup du jour and take a couple macarons home!
I specifically stop in Freddy just to get pastries from here!
Friendly staff, great treats.
Wonderful baked goods and very cozy.
Vegan cronuts on Fridays and hand made vegan ice cream!!!! ????
Wonderfully quaint and a great selection of food
Take out
Delicious pastries and alright coffee, not very reliable to have food though - especially on weekends.
Friendly service
Chess Piece is a fantastic little cafe in downtown Fredericton. Absolutely everything I've had there has been delicious and their cream of Irish breakfast tea is to die for. It is a small location so sometimes there isn't anywhere to sit but they do have a second location in the Beaverbrook Art Gallery on the other end of Queen Street. They have different scones, croissants, and soup every day and they regularly change their macaron flavours. I can't stress enough how amazing everything about this place is.
The staff and products here are amazing! I love being greeted by such kind people. However, I have had 2 interactions with the owner who was rude and condescending. She cut me off when I was talking and answered the phone while proceeding with my transaction. I would have rather waited because I had intended on ordering more but she literally typed in my total in the debit machine and handed it over without saying a word to me. I also had a cake to pick up for my friends birthday and I admit I was a couple hours early but she was so rude when I asked if it happened to be ready (again, I didn't mind that it wasn't, I just thought I'd check). She literally said to me "that's why we set pick up times" so rudely! I was just asking so that if it was ready I didn't have to make an unnecessary trip. I've been going here for so long and am disappointed that this is how the owner talks to customers.
Some of the best treats
I've supporting local! Great tea latte and scone. So yummy.
Great coffee, cakes and sandwiches. Free wifi, friendly staff, and Ella Fitzgerald on the speakers. A perfect 'man parking' spot while the wife and kids are shopping downtown or spending an age in Clay Cafe. Bring a book, eat drink and chill out for a while.
If you like desserts and you haven't been here you are missing out. Their food is so good it was recently on the food network. I don't think you can have a better review than that. Why are you still reading this? Go there now!
Adorable little spot. Cozy with warm decor, and a reasonable amount of seating for both the space and covid restrictions. Pastries are... Amazing. The best I've had in Fredericton for sure. Staff were lovely, friendly not only with me but …
Hot chocolate not bad. Nice cozy store. Very creative atmosphere.
Amazing drinks even better cakes... Do your taste buds a favour and try the treats here????
Good drinks and amazing desserts. Savory croissants were super good as well
The best little cafe I've been to so far, they have many different pastries and desserts. 10/10 coffee
Yummy desserts, small location but will definitely return!
Super chic, friendly and quick service, delicous food and drinks! I tried the cinnamon pull apart, fruit tart and chai latte, would recommend everything. If I lived closer I'd be here all the time! So pleased.
The chresecake is delicious.
Been enjoying my morning coffee from Chess Piece for the past 6+ months. Great staff and meeting space.
I love the Chess Piece! I live their high end desserts, flaky croissants, super yummy sandwiches( by far one of the best sandwich places around). Always impeccable service, always super fresh offerings, add always great coffee. I never miss an opportunity to visit when I'm in Fredericton
Chess Piece is my go to for coffee I Fredericton. Always good snacks too. The Salted Caramel Macaroons are a must-try.
Great prices awesome staff and delicious menu Try the macarons if you go!
LOVE THIS PLACE! Best Irish Breakfast tea! And of course, the macaroons are to die for. I just dislike how small it is.
Small intimate desert cafe with the best teas!
Pricey, but SO delicious
Fantastic sandwiches - for example, chicken avocado with real pieces of chicken, slices of avocado plus thick chopped bacon and thick slices of provolone. Not the thin fillings that usually pass for a takeout sandwich in these parts. On a snowy drive from Quebec to Halifax this saved me. Worth a trip off the highway. Nice ambiance and coffees and teas too.
Good food and great staff. A nice place to get coffee and chat with friends or work on your writing.
Good muffins and tea. Looked like good coffee too but didn't try it this time.
Great service - delicious sweets!
This small but hip location sells a range of freshly baked pastries, tarts, and cakes. When we went there was not much in the way of soups or sandwiches but the cafe board promised a "savory" menu to come. I had a large drip coffee, a croissant, an almond croissant, and sampled a prosciutto and parmesan croissant. The croissant was unusually doughy and dense, more like a buttery pie crust than the soft flaky pastry I would have expected. The almond croissant was more conventional and excellent - the filling was present but not cloying or overpowering. The bright and salty flavours of the prosciutto and parmesan were very present in the third. Prices ranged about 2 to 4 dollars - roughly what I would expect to pay. This is a surprisingly good European style bakery for an area that has been quite conservative (bordering on bland) in its tastes. However, the coffee was not good. Yes, drip coffee is not sophisticated, but it can be done very well. The offering at this cafe was very watered-down, on par with a Tim Horton's or Dunkin' Donuts coffee. I had the dark roast; one of my colleagues had the light roast and had the same impression. I'd give the espresso-based drinks a try.
I love Chess Piece. I have never purchased anything that has not been excellent. I love the friendliness of the staff too.
I never come to Fredericton without a visit to Chess Piece Cafe, and if I am lucky there is a sticky bun left
Search “ Edmonton Eats in Fredericton, NB | QUEEN ST. CREAMERY #icecream “ on youtube! This review is for the Queen St. Creamery ice cream truck Serving up delicious small batch ice cream! The passionfruit and strawberry rhubarb are highly recommended! Ratings out of 5 (1-avoid, 2-would not recommend, 3-recommend, 4-enjoyable experience, 5-would keep coming back) Taste- 5 Portion/Presentation- 3 Price- 4 Service- 4.5 Location- 4 Overall, 4.1 out of 5!
Quality baked goods that are delicious.
Amazing coffee, amazing tiny fancy treats- makes you feel like a hipster and royalty all at once. Cozy, comfy atmosphere and baristas are ALL kind (and gorgeous). My favorite place for a pick me up.
Meal type
Fresh and delicious baked goods and coffee. Friendly staff. Couldn't have asked for a better breakfast.
An adorable coffee shop with tasty treats!
Pretty disappointed tbh. My sage latte was pretty good but wife got a mocha which was pretty plain and underwhelming. Went twice and they ran out of breakfast sandwiches early in the morning. Long wait times and staff just felt grumpy. They also accused my sister in law of not paying even though you can't get anything from them before paying, go figure. Above all it's rather pricey. A lot of better options in Fredericton.
Desserts for grown ups. Prepared by pros with love. It's a must visit when in Fredericton. Friendly, funny staff.
Real nice casual place for a treat!! By the way, the mushroom onion tart is amazing!
Fell in love with this spot when I first moved here. Great food, amazing staff, and the booth in the back is perfect for studying!
The best place to grab a decadent treat. Prices are a little high, but you for sure get what you paid for.
This place is amazing. If I need a cake made this is my go to place. Highly recommend this patisserie. You will not be disappointed.
Friendly staff; wide assortment of coffees, teas to compliment the decadent baked delights. Cozy atmosphere.
The macarons I had were old and stale. They weren’t fresh or planning on being thrown out. The flavours weren’t strong and one out of the three flavours I bought hadn’t even been flavoured. It was Candy Apple and honestly it tasted like the Almomd Meal/Flour... really all of it did but the S’mores because the chocolate gave it a little bit more flavour. Zero sweetness. All just tasted bland and stale. Disappointing as it was my first time wanting to try macarons having to drive 30 mins to get my desired cookie and my experience was terrible :( Baking them on your own is your best bet because these aren’t made properly for the price of a delicious macaron and I paid that price only being blindsided. Honest rating 0/5
This is about the Queen Street Creamery, since this is what comes up when I search it. I went to get some ice cream at the Cultural Market. I got strawberry rhubarb in a waffle cone and it was awesome. After I left, the cone broke. It broke sideways, so I had the empty bottom part of the cone in one hand and the scoop of ice cream with a cone around it in one hand. It was really weird. I messaged the page on Facebook and asked whether their ice cream truck was parked in one spot or whether it was in different locations on different days and I was told it was parked in one spot. So, I went, and it wasn't there. I walked to the Cultural Market to get some of their ice cream after this and they weren't there! Someone at another booth said they had closed their business which caught me off guard. Overall, the ice cream itself was great but I was really disappointed that the truck wasn't where I was told it would be and the business took days to even answer my messages.
So good!
Worst macaroon I have ever had in my entire life. When you bite in one it feels like play doh and the flavours were off, either not good at all or way too intense(lavender and blueberries). None of them had the same shape or appearance. They were 12$ for, 6 way too expensive in my opinion for what we got.
Good food. Lots of deserts. Great atmosphere.
Cutest, most delicious café in town!
My wedding cake was beautiful and delicious! Do not hesitate.
Great service, awesome coffee. Thanks for the red eye!
Great spot for coffee and light meals.
Always an excellent experience, service is great, and coffee is better! I always look forward to going back!
Lovely atmosphere and very clean
Great cappuccino and lemon tart!
Will be most favored place in fredericton forever. Unfortunately you can't take every nice thing with you when you move to another city.
Great, friendly place to sit and work. Nice pastries, staff that seem to get along well but not obnoxiously so, and the coffee is good too. Had the affogato, pain au chocolate, and a latte over a couple days visit and I would recommend it all. Too much powdered sugar on the pain au chocolate but hey, that’s just my opinion man.
Favorite cafe, both (Gallery and original location) are excellent. Great place to get high quality treats.
Nice cafe / patisserie downtown with a great selection of food and drink. The interior is a little small, so if you plan to visit during a busy time getting it "to go" is a good idea. …
My matcha latte was not very well mixed by the cake and soup were great.
Pastries were delicious and coffee fresh. Staff was friendly
Great coffee and some nice deserts. Slightly pricier but worth the extra expense.
Delicious coffees and pastries!
Super friendly staff, great atmosphere and super tasty desserts to enjoy in the café or at home :)
Good coffee and nice place to spend time chatting.
I am a monthly visitor to Chess Piece. I love their breakfast sandwiches and scones. They always serve with a smile.
Other
Awesome dessert ????!
Best coffee and dessert in New Brunswick.
Great food, decent coffee.
Service
Great products, though little bit pricy.
The macarons and millefeuille are to die for
wow, friend and I, both former Montrealers loved the coffee and selection of french gateaux, pasteries." Ambiance " with lots of eye candy, cool clients, sweet helpful waitstaff and the owner was happy that we loved the place, its genuine
Mouthwatering :)
Queen Street Creamry, Picaroons. 60% tips, a little too much :)
one of the best cafes in fredericton hands down
I was sent there for their cronuts. While I was there I got a piece of carrot cake. It was made with care and put together well. Deliciously done. I will be back.
Went yesterday evening for the first time with friends. I had heard from someone else that they had amazing apple cider, so I emailed the café in advance to ensure they would have some as my boyfriend loves apple cider and it can be hard to find. When I showed up they had none, which was disappointing. Staff was playing music over a speaker from their phones the whole time but left their ringer on, so the music was interrupted every couple of minutes by staff receiving messages. Did not get any smiles from staff either. Also, as shown in the photo I have attached, this is hardly an accessible bathroom. The space between the counters is quite small, and if I had had to use my cane yesterday I would’ve needed to turn sideways to get through. Good luck fitting through with a walker, wheelchair, or other mobility aids, although those likely wouldn’t fit anywhere in the small café anyway. Overall a poor experience and I do not expect to be returning.
Cool little spot.
Excellent staff,
Great for coffee and if you want some delicious mouse cakes
(Translated) Very disappointed, I was happy to taste their pastries but the caramel topping was too taken so rubbery (probably too much gel). The mousse lacked lightness which made the cake disgusting ... I did not even finish ...
Best espresso coffee in the city (and I know - I'm Australian!), fantastic friendly service and INCREDIBLE macaroons - some of the best I've ever had!
Great little spot with tasty drinks and lovely staff
Delicious latté and scone. Funky, cozy decor.
Best mint chocolate chip ice cream EVER!!!
The coffee alone makes Chess Piece a place worth visiting, since there is a wide variety of options and almost everything I've tried has been superb thus far! Beyond that, though, their baked goods simply can't be topped. As a personal recommendation, try the salted caramel macarons; they're amazing! Staff is always friendly and quick too, even when the shop is busy.
OMG delicious!
Love their cheesecakes
I love coming here! The atmosphere is cosy, the staff is nice, and the food and coffee is great. I will definetly recommend this café.
Pastries and food were very beautiful and tasty, but tried three types of drinks and all tasted bland at best.
Special place for special treats...
Friggin' love this place. Delicious coffee and treats. True professionals.
Most of the dessert are good and their price are reasonable.
Simply delicious!
Wonderful service, great coffee, and the pastry we had was fantastic! Worth stopping in to relax or just to grab a drink and go :)
(Translated) Beautiful and very good dessert (Original) Beau et très bon dessert
Great coffee and masterful pastries! Now they also have home made ice cream
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious pastries! Everything was made fresh and tasted amazing! Bonus, they had vegan options! Loved my experience ~♡ (Halifax, NS)
Wonderful cozy spot with great coffee and the most amazing desserts!
Great service, great coffee, great food and a beautiful aesthetic. One of my favorite cafe's in the city!
Overall a great cafe. Small spot but well decorated with old wood furniture. Baked goods were …
Delicious macaroons and coffee.
Their pastries are good but the service is rude quite frankly. My wife and I went there for a cake tasting for our wedding cake but when we told her we still wanted to try out at least one more bakery on our list and that our wedding was going to be small so we'd need a small cake, she blew us off and barely answered any questions after, almost as if to say baking a small cake for a small wedding isn't worth her time. Needless to say we went else where for our cake. Having good customer service is just as important as having a good product.
Had an awesome maple latte and some croissants are delicious
