The Tare Shop is awesome! Not only does it have all the beverage options you'd expect from a cafe but it also has 40+ bulk options so you can get the essentials without packaging! Love the zero-waste movement and the Tare Shop is just the tip of the iceberg for it in Halifax.

Met a friend for coffee here on a Saturday afternoon. There is limited seating but a buzzy happy vibe. Bring your own containers (jars, plastic yogurt tubs, wine bottles, etc..), have them weighed, and fill them up with your product of choice. I expected a larger visual amount of product but the staff seemed to be replenishing quickly. I found it a little clattery and it was difficult to hear my friend's conversation but other than that it was a pleasant place to discover.

Zero waste store with lots of organic options. Good thing is that they have bulk food products, but also lifestyle products. There Cafe seems good too, but I hope they add vegan items in the cafe menu. {update: they do have delicious vegan donuts. Great accompaniment to a hot cup of coffee!}

I highly recommended checking out the tare shop for all your bulk, zero waste needs but also, check out some of the amazing workshops held there! So informative and it really connects you to the reasons why being (as close) or completely zero waste makes an impact!

The tare shop has good prices for a wide variety of bulk foods:honey, nut butter, flours, teas, coffees, dried fruits, spices and grains like rice, wheat and quinoas. There are usually jars you can use, but good to bring your own containers and bags. They also carry excellent shampoo and conditioner bars, soaps, brushes and refillable razors, plus other neat stuff.

Neat place - went there to work on my laptop and it was a nice quiet spot. Had a number of the usual staples (soap, cooking oils, flour, etc) that you would need for sale, but remember to bring your own containers! Also had reusable feminine hygiene products, which is awesome.

The Tare Shop is a fast expanding and ahead of the curve waste-free and bulk store. Their products are ever expanding to meet the needs of the community and it was truly enlivened the north end to have this available. Their staff is friendly and helpful, they are more affordable than bulk chains and truly go above and beyond to educate on the impact of waste reduction and green living. I would highly recommend checking it out; grab a drink and stay for a while.

My go-to bulk food store! I come here for all my dried good and shampoo bars. Their spice selection is amazing and it’s much cheaper than buying from a big grocery store. Not only does this shop promote a zero-waste lifestyle, but they also go above and beyond to support the local community.

I’ve been to The Tare Shop a few times in the spring and summer and love that everything is zero waste! I’ve filled up some shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, and bought some plastic-free toiletries! Only downside is that one staff member has been rude on multiple occasions, to myself and the friends/family I’ve come with.

I just recently visited The Tare Shop this past weekend and accidentally "pocket-reviewed" the shop with one star. This is very far from the truth as is it a very pleasant space servicing a market that is much needed in the city. The zero waste movement is something I have begun dabbling and and picked-up some bar shampoo (which is great) and a gift card (digital) for a family member. Apologies for the mistaken 1 star review and I plan to return soon for at least a coffee!

I went in recently to check things out and wanted to buy a few items, but found out at the register that they don't accept debit unless you have tap. I ended up not getting the items because of this. Seems like a weird flaw and something that should be fixed imo!

I really appreciate being able to use my own jars for bulk purchasing here. It’s very organized and sanitary, more so then the larger chains where we fill plastic bags. Even in COVID times, this store has managed to come up with a good system to keep product safe and clean while we fill our containers. Also, there’s a good selection of items. It’s become my go to for most bulk purchases.

i really like this place, fun spot to have in the neighborhood when you need just a bit of something for a recipe. However just be aware they don't accept non tap debit. I had to find an atm and pay a three dollar service fee for a seven dollar purchase so that wasn't great. From now I'll have to take out cash beforehand from a machine that won't rip me off so that pretty much rules out any spontaneous stopping by.
