Have got the family dinners here recently, just delicious and tons of food for the price. My favorite is the four cheese Cajun. We have dined here since the beginning and the staff and owners are always so nice. However last night while picking up our take out order for Mother's Day, my husband was so upset with the rudeness shown to the staff who were running off their feet. Everyone knows Mother's Day is probably the busiest days of the year. Pickup was running late, customers were to told wait in your cars and we'll bring it to you. A certain amount of people chose to stand in the rain, complain and express their displeasure and rudeness to the hard working staff. It was really disturbing to watch. In these trying times, everyone is trying to do their best and restaurants are struggling to stay afloat. Relax and have a little patience people. I'm sure the ladies would have rather been sitting down with their own families instead of serving rude people. Cafe Amore staff you do a great job and we appreciate you!!!

Wow! Food was excellent! Had the special blackened salmon with garlic mash and steamed veggies. Simple yet beautiful! Appetizers of spinach and artichoke dip and steamed mussels were delicious. Didn't get a chance to try desert, however have heard great things about it. Service was top notch. Will definitely be back soon!

We tried to book a reservation for 6:30 on a Friday but only 5pm was available which we took. We were informed our table would be needed for 6:30. We thought we would be rushed but our server was prompt, our food timing was perfect after our drinks arrived and we had time to socialize . Our dinners were tasty , hot and a good portion size. We were surprised we had finished and were ready to go even before our 6:30 deadline. Excellent service and a menu of wonderful options.

Best Restaurant NOT in Niagara.!! There are so many great restaurants in Niagara - most are quite pricy or over-priced if you ask me... Since we are not far from the Niagara region, and travel there often, we look for secret gems enroute. The Cafe Amore in St. Catharines was one of those gems that we have discovered. A family owned restaurant since 1995 - serving delicious Mediterranean Cuisine with comfortable, intimate seating areas. They have a fantastic varied menu of Italian favourites as well as wood fired, true Naples-style pizza that is some of the best I have ever had.!! (This restaurant is actually inconspicuous in a shopping strip mall, so the patio does not have a view - but, the big advantage is that it is very accessible from the QEW highway exit on the way to or from Niagara.)

This is the kind of restaurant you take your family to on special occasions, but also makes every night out special. Every meal I've eaten there has been great. I'm especially fond of their pasta dishes, but the pizzas made in the wood-fired pizza are also amazing. The servers are phenomenal. My husband ordered steak asked for it medium rare the steak was well done he ordered wine got his drink at the end of his meal … there was no napkins or utensils at our table for our kids the server never came by to see if we needed anything !! Can’t really blame her they were busy the owner should have more servers working on a busy night we waited ten minutes for two forks and napkins absolutely ridiculous…. ( I will say my chicken Parmesan was pretty good regardless we won’t be coming back !

Absolutely loved the food, our party of 5 all left with full and happy bellies! However, our reservation was at 7 and we didn't get seated or receive drinks until 8, our meal not until 9. Our waitress was very lovely but the service was incredibly slow. We were all understanding of changes due to covid but I just simply wouldn't go back anytime soon as our quick dinner outing turned into a 3 hour snoozefest.

Went with my wife tonight and asked for a table for two, was asked if I had a reservation and said no then the hostess played on her tablet and said I have a table but need it for 730pm, we laughed and said no problem it was 515pm and we said well yes we will be out of here easily, she never once looked up at us and kept playing on her tablet for at least 10 minutes and I said to my wife I am hungry if they don’t have a place let’s go and she continued to tap and she said I am seeing if I can work it out… why say this when you already said you had a table five minutes ago? Strange ..this is St Catharines not Toronto and it’s cafe amore..tell us yes or no..such a strange vibe from a hostess..not the usual from the home town local restaurant we supported during covid, we left and went to Coppolas and had an amazing meal..very disappointed in the hostess’ behaviour..not sure we will be back ..so much for treating your patrons with respect….perhaps look at your staff you have greeting your patrons Cafe Amore..:(

I've been here a handful of times now and not been disappointed. The couple I came with once had the steak as part of the 22$ special they offer and did not find it that great. Personally I came here for the Medittarean/Italian food which was great (pasta, souvlaki chicken). The service has been great so far and only once was it ever slow (busy night though, waited for a table). We had a young man today who was great and attentive but boy does he ever speak loudly. It was a good experience service wise but I would offer gentle advice to perhaps lower his voice a level especially when first addressing a table as he caught us by surprise a couple times. The presentation of the food is also well done and they have a good assortment of deserts. The prices are reasonable with most standard meals ranging around 20$ And for those PokemonGo fans, there is a poke stop here!

Amazing food, great prices, and friendly atmosphere. Their pear, asparagus, and gorgonzola salad ($15) is amazing - fresh, generous portions, toasted walnuts, and pita bread is over the top! It's also meal sized so no need for an additional entree.The pizza was delicious! Their pizza ($13) is made fresh in the restaurant with a stone baked oven. You can see the crust and toppings being freshly prepared.

We ordered a seafood rice dish. they forgot to put the order in. we waited almost an hour. the owner came and apologized put a rush on the order .we left there with full bellies. a very generous host !he didn't charge us for food or drinks. Went to Cafe Amore for a dinner date with my fiancé for the very first time recently. Everything was excellent, to be honest. The waitress who helped us was very friendly from the start and we immediately felt welcome. The ambiance was wonderful -- the restaurant was playing really chill tunes that added to our dining experience. I ordered the Meat Lovers Pasta and my fiance ordered the Chicken Parm. Food was delicious and portions were very generous. Definitely some of the better tasting Italian food I've tried in the city. With all that said, we were very satisfied with our experience and are looking forward to having more wonderful dinners at Cafe Amore. Highly recommend ????

I live quite close and have had ordered from here three times. The last time I was so disappointed with the meals I had bought for my family. It has been take out for all three times, so maybe I am just missing the whole Cafe Amore experience. Great salad dressing, for the 10 or so pieces of lettuce leaves it was on. Dish of pasta was unfortunately so watery it completely took away from any flavour the sauce would have had.

Sad! Went to get some pizza and they are charging $14 for a 6 slice (small) cheese pizza. Went home and ordered Dominos 14" (large) Hand Tossed Special: Pepperoni, Bacon, Pineapple, Ham for $9.70. (coupon code cag5014) small cheese pizza $14 or large 4 topping pizza for $9.70. What a rip off this place is, I was expecting fair prices or at least a bit expensive... not a total rip off.

Food was simple and somewhat cold. Had to wait which wasnt an issue but while waiting we noticed the pizza cooker had an inch of dust and cobwebs everywhere! Service was horrible except for the bartender which made our night. We had to ask for our bill 3 times and atmosphere was so cramped we cpuldnt even hear each other speak. Not very romantic for an amore cafe !?!?! Will not be going back. What happened to lake st where it was peaceful romantic and service was more than exceptional !!!

Beautiful restaurant with very good food. It did take a long time for the pizza so if you're in a hurry, keep that in mind. And we did find it to be a bit expensive for some things (appetizers, salads) but the pizzas were enough for two. Over all it was good, service was friendly and loved the decor.

I recently had take out from cafe amore and I have to say best take out meal I've had in a while. I ordered the chicken and crab also the Cajun chicken which was great! They both came with a salad with amazing SPREADABLE dressing (I hate dressing that clumps and doesn't spread evenly) ! My only complaint is that food was a bit on the salty side but other than that I have no other complaints. Definitely, will be going back maybe to actually sit down this time.

A wonderful place to eat. The atmosphere is very relaxing and comfortable first time me and my fiancee ate here on a early date we just got lost in getting to know eachother. Then the several times we've been since have been great including tonight. We have great experience the service was a breath of fresh air very friendly and welcoming. The food tasted wonderful i got the steak pasta and the steak was cooked perceft my fiance had the veal parm and it was perfect. And to top it all off the owner /chef came outta the kitchen to the table to ask if we enjoyed our dinner i really appreciate and owner being that involved alot of love goes into thier food!!! Mediocre service at best. Three visits with increasingly long waits for seating. It's like they play a game to see how many waiters can walk by the entrance without making eye contact before you say something to one of them. Mains were fine, but a lot of the ingredients and sides seem to be frozen and store bought. Very disappointed.

Really bad. I mean really really bad. Let’s start with service. It took 35 minutes for the appetizer to come. Speaking of apps. Don’t order the garlic shrimp. It’s three over cooked salad shrimp in butter with a bread stick. While we are on the topic of what not to order. Don’t order the baked seafood. That’s three more salad shrimp, three diced scallops and more butter. Very over cooked. Terrible. Oh. I almost forgot. The Caesar salad. Hahah. Awful. Lastly, the cheese cake. It was old and had zero flavor. I’m no foodie, really, but this isn’t worth the time. Seriously. Gross.

Cafe Amore is such a quaint little place. It really speaks to family with a casual, relaxed, yet sophisticated atmosphere. The decor is simply adorable, setting the scene for a cute date night as well. We tried the Chicken Gorgonzola Pasta, Cesar Salad, Mediterranean Chicken Pizza, and some desserts. The food was superb and the portions were just right. We were able to order dessert and take home the food we didn't eat. The water jars they use are so quirky! Absolutely adore them. For dessert we tried the Torta Della Nonna and Hazelnut Passion cheesecake. Absolutely stunning presentation and even better tasting. Covid-19 practices are great here with all staff wearing masks and the sanitizing station upon entry. Parking is ample and handicap accessible.

My company insists on having our Christmas party here every year. Although they accommodate food allergies they are unprepared to handle large parties. Having staff shout who ordered a Coke? Who ordered a Caesar salad? While you are trying to have a conversation is not just unacceptable but also unprofessional. Not to mention that my coworker waited twenty minutes for her meal to arrive because she requested mashed potatoes instead of pasta. Mashed was an option available so this wasn't an over the top request. Other times I have been here the server has complained about how tired or in pain she is. I will only return if I do not have a choice. Two stars since tomato allergy accommodation at Mediterranean restaurant.

Had dinner with my partner at Cafe Amore last night. Service was amazing and friendly! I had the "Spicey Meatball Pizza." Just flat out delicious and a great value. It is a single sized but it could really feed two. It is a pleasure to stumble upon a restaurant like this where it is abundantly clear that the staff actually care about the job they are doing and the experience of their client. It really shows with the staff at Cafe Amore. I would absolutely come to this restaurant again. If I lived in St. Catherines I would be a regular. Just loved my experience here.

DON'T EAT HERE! The food and atmosphere was fantastic. We had a good time while there. My husband ordered the Poseidon Pasta. HOWEVER, on the car ride home from the restaurant my husband became violently ill! Painful cramps, vomiting and diarrhea. I called to let the restaurant know only so no one else became sick, I didn't ask the owner for anything in return. I just wanted him to be aware. He was in complete denial. Said it was a virus. Said he must be allergic to seafood or milk. Said it wasn't his seafood supplier or his workers. How did he know? And i didn't care, I just wanted him to be aware so no one else became so violently ill. And after he finished his long line of denials, he hung up on me!! This owner DID NOT CARE that his food had made someone ill. DISGRACEFUL!!!

Dec. 2nd, 2019 ONE star, because it would not post with ZERO STARS!!! Our first visit to Cafe Amore was over a year ago for our anniversary and the food was delicious, the service AMAZING! A year later celebrating a special night, the service AMAZING, the food....UNACCEPTABLE!!!! I ordered a steak...medium rare, which arrived at the table BURNT BLACK with sauce on it. One bite tasted like eating burnt Oak. The Chef actually plated a burnt black steak, topped it with sauce and proudly served it......REALLY!!!!!! My wife ordered chicken Souviaki on a skewer......the red peppers were BURNT, and the chicken was dry. The manager began to explain the teqnique of cooking souviaki on Skewers and the vegetables can get charred........NO! The chicken was cooked TOO LONG, HENCE burning the peppers!! Very UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Her ceasar salad had no bacon and NO ceasar dressing. Top it all off......after having two plates returned to him BURNT and inedible, the chef waved to us as we were leaving, which speaks volumes of his culinary skills being ACCEPTABLE by management/owner. WORST MEAL EVER!!!!! This Chef would have trouble cooking hotdogs!!!!

Went there on a Friday with 2 other families and it was crowded. You better get a reservation. The food was very good. The paella was too spicy for my taste but the pasta was splendid. I also tried a "Carnes" pizza that was delicious. The environment was nice and the service was fine. Overall it deserves a 4.5 stars for me but since there is not such ranking I'll upgrade it to 5. The waitress said that he is a wonderful boss and she enjoys her job and I could tell by the way they were all smiling and interacting with the customers that it was a nice place to work. Found this place on Google on the way to fallsview casino, and so happy I did... It has an upscale Olive garden feel, but the food is amazing. The pizza wood oven is front and center when you walk in.... You can't help but want to try a pizza. Bruschetta with feta arrived quick, as did all the food... Service was amazing. Lasagna tasted homemade and authentic, ceasar salad was good, the cheese bread sticks that came with it was so warm, soft and fresh.. The margherita pizza was everything you could hope for coming out of an oven at 900° for only 90 seconds.... Can't wait to try the 4 course meal during the week for only $25. This place is worth the drive no matter where you're coming from...

I would recommend to go here during a less peak time such as lunch for better service and a less expensive menu. Dinner is over priced and there are cobwebs everywhere. My wife & I were travelling back from the U.S. and we were passing by St. Catharines, on our way home Saturday evening (March 2, 2019). We both decided to stop in St. Catharines to have dinner, and we didn't want to visit the usual chain restaurants. Café Amore was listed on the GPS, and that's where we went for dinner. This was our first, and perhaps our last, visit to Café Amore. First impression walking through the door was good - the place was packed, atmosphere was nice, and the hostess was friendly. All good signs on a Saturday night. We did not have to wait very long to be seated. However, once seated, it was about 15 or 20 minutes before a server came to our table. She apologized for the wait, and did not introduce herself. I witnessed her passing by prior to this - perhaps she could have at least taken a drink order one of the times she passed by. At any rate, apology accepted - Saturday nights are usually busy at decent establishments, and we weren't in a hurry. Sadly, after taking our order, this would be the last we would see our server until it came time to pay the bill. The server did not introduce herself, and did not stop by once to ask about our meals or if we would like more to drink. Absolutely rude & ignorant. Apparently we weren't too important, as we witnessed our server tending to a much larger table and waiting on them hand & foot. I suppose she felt the tip would be more worth her while from the other table. Despite the non-existent service, the food was excellent. I ordered Chicken Parmesan, and my wife had the Meatball Pasta. The meals were hot, and prepared perfectly. I opted for the vegetables instead of the pasta that normally is served with chicken parmesan. Both meals were served hot, and were very tasty. My chicken parmesan was among the best I've ever had. It's been a very, very long time that I've received service that was so poor. I still cannot fully understand how it is that the food can be so good, and the service so poor. It's been a long time (roughly 25 years) that I have had an experience that can compare to this one. I was so annoyed with the experience that I filled out Café Amore's comment sheet and put it in the box. Perhaps they treat locals better? I only learned of the server's name once I was at home, and able to examine the bill more carefully. Her name was "Brenda." I would highly recommend that you request a different server if Brenda comes to your table. The cost of our meals was very reasonable - under $50, including tax. Neither of us ordered alcoholic beverages. Overall, a very unfortunate experience - food as good as I experienced should never be paired with abysmal service. Customers should be valued & appreciated - not ignored.

This place went to my #1 favorite place to eat immediately after my first bite of delicious gluten free apple caramel desert. Since then my wife and I have gone several times trying out everything on the menu. There is a very wide variety of gluten free items which is important to us, and if you go Thursday night you can get two meals + two deserts for a very affordable price.

To be continued....Have recently found out that on the Skip app where it says "Contribute Now"? meaning tip the restaurant?... the restaurant (and I've spoken to several restaurants)... they do NOT receive the contributions (not speaking of skip driver tips) as well, a lady from Skip the Dishes responded and verified right off that yes .. the restaurants themselves do NOT receive ANY contributions that we, that eat their yummy and delicious food..... the money we offer up as much earned, needed tips for restaurant workers...really on the frontline ..to keep our community going...restaurants are not getting these funds/contributions..even after we say whats its for...not now, not ever!! It goes to Skip the Dishes!!! Hello? Why didn't we see this coming? Tonite after a lengthy discussion on the phone with a Skip CS...she was a genuine kind heart. She looked into the contributions I made recently then kindly issued a substantial refund for this (I thought) right away, called my 2 favorite restaurants and tried to rectify, just a little.. paid them back! Almost half in half...they both were so happy (felt personally happy inside) Skip didn't like that so they out of the blue cancelled my order (ordered from 2 different tonight, Johnny Roccos and Cafe Amore. Skip, after 3 calls, one hangup, one text, are arguing that the money put towards my account is for the cancelation (made AFTER I had already called the restaurants and repaid their tips), which I never did ( cancel)!! They cancelled my order from Cafe Amore.... The sweet African lady from Skip,who helped me positively, understood me, even with the language barrier...better than most from Skip (except the voice on the phone)....Thought I got back the contributions to give back to the restaurants but no....they took it out of my cancelled order that I didn't cancel!! Please, Do NOT spend money on skip the dishes! Many restaurants....Cafe Amore, Johnny Roccos Frescos,....many many others are struggling!!! Call them, deal with them personally forget about the 3rd party....you WILL be rewarded!! They NEED us....Skip already has too much money!! order online....save

Summary: food quality varies from fantastic to average, service needs improvement. Went two days ago, just the two of us, and the kids that greeted us said it would be a 20 minute wait, despite the fact that I saw more than five empty tables. Turned around and went across the street to Upper Deck instead. Upper Deck was really busy but they seated us right away. The folks at Cafe Amore could take some lessons from them. Came back the next day to Cafe Amore to try again. This time it was four of us in our party, and we went at 4:15 PM for an early dinner. Again, some confusion when we were greeted, even more inexplicable this time, since they were practically empty and we had even made reservations. I them also got the distinct impression from the waitress that she didn't feel like being there, and that we were a nuisance for her. The paella was fantastic: great flavour, excellent temperature, given the average meals we had a few visits ago, it exceeded expectations. Unfortunately, the steak my parents ordered, while it was cooked correctly to the requested temperature (medium rare), it was really tough. Had a lot of trouble sawing through it with a steak knife and chewing it. Desserts were exceptional, as usual. I really want to love this place, but they are starting to test my patience. IMO this place has gone way downhill since our last visit just over a year ago and it's such a disappointment. They used to have the best burger in town, hands down; this time they were awful, scrawny little things - that I still would have eaten - but the meat smelled bad and we sent them back. We re-ordered Quiche but it was a tiny little thing for $16 and was so average, microwaved from frozen. What an overall disappointment and they've lost us now as customers

My parents have been going to Cafe Amore since they were located on Lake Street. Since then we have had many great meals and made great memories at Cafe Amore. It has been a tradition to go there on Mother's Day as my Mom has a couple dishes there she just loves. I decided to order take out for Mother's Day and get all the dishes we have come to enjoy over the years as the COVID-19 pandemic is going on restaurants are not open for business as usual. They were swamped so I guess I wasn't the only one who had the same idea for Mother's Day! I just want to say thanks for all the hard work the staff did yesterday. Yes, the wait was longer than expected but, during these times a restaurant like this (and many others) have never experienced what we are going through. Great job and thanks again for another great Mother's Day in the books!

It looked a lot more fancy then it was, paid 50$ for two sandwiches some tomatoe soup and what was supposed to be a side caesar... I mean they got the romaine and romano right ... But they ignored baccon, croutons and caesar dressing ... Soup was good and the sandwich was good id say about a 10$ value for each of the meals but im not sure they should charge 30$ for the admittingly nice ambiance that does not fit a cafe style... To drink we had hot chocolate and i was expecting since its a cafe to get something a little more than packet made stuff... To conclude this place is not worth the price for a lunch, I'd highly reccomend if you go for what i went for you would be better off at a more modest establishment for the same meal, same quality (but probably Real caesar) and a much better price. Dinner options may be better and im confident they may have more pride in pasta as it seems to be an italian restraunt that calls itself a cafe

I've always enjoyed coming here. The food food is pricey but what you get is certainly on par. It holds a very cozy atmosphere that isn't necessarily loud or busy. It tends to be a pretty busy restaurant so try to get a booking in a few days ahead of time.

We attempt to visit Cafe Amore a few times a year, since my partner and family absolutely love it. The food is incredible, the portions are very moderate and the service is quite excellent. Our last two visits, our servers were top notch. Last visit we were kindly greeted, a quiet night with not too much going on. Again, the food was excellent but this time, our server named Madison was less than so. It felt like we were a nuisance to her. My partner made an effort to thank her for everything she did for us, yet as we walked out she questioned as why it felt like she hated us. No smile, no small talk, no suggestions or specials, and the vibe that we had ruined her evening. This experience won't change our love for the place, but maybe next time we will go ahead an request a different server. This place has always had a great standard, and we love our previous experiences.

My 6 years old pizza was burned and raw so we ordered chicken fingers as u can imagine my 6 year old did not get to eat until after everyone else did and they still charged full price the waitress was very nice about it and gave me a free piece of pie for my birthday still didn't expect to be charged full price for my 6 year s food . not worth the 128 dollars for 3 adults and one kid never going back

I made a reservation for my wife's birthday and asked for a quiet(er) table away from the door. A week later (Thanksgiving Sunday) we arrived and were seated promptly, at a nice table away from the door. The place was much busier than I expected - I thought everyone would be at home but clearly I was wrong. At any rate, after the hostess seated us no one else even acknowledged we were there. Two different waitresses passed our tables 4 times by my count without a 'hello,' 'be right with you,' or 'i'll bring you a water.' We sat for 15 minutes and then got up and left. We hadn't been to Cafe Amore in a few years because we had a separate bad experience. We tried valentines day this year and it was fine (and just as busy as Sunday). We live close by (walking distance) but we will never go back. Ever. Find somewhere else to go!

However, when served pasta that is still swimming in water and having to ask for more "sauce" to make it edible and being charged for the extra sauce....doesn't sit well with me. Took my wife here for our 31st wedding anniversary and had a lovely supper followed by an amazing gluten free cheese cake desert. Atmosphere was pleasant, where we sat was quite private and relaxed. Had the worst experience I've ever had there tonight. Had to wait to get seated while the staff had a discussion about it and this was only 5 pm. No one came to pour us water, then the waitress came and asked if we were ready to order. There was no mention about a drink order until we asked for them. We ordered our food also at this time. My daughter asked for penne but got fettuccine, we had to ask for pepper and then she only gave some to me, then walked away. I had to ask for a spoon for my Angel hair pasta, and she gave a big sigh. We didn't see her again for almost an hour, when we had to ask another server for our bill and take out container. She brought the bill and left without saying a word. Sometimes I see why my husband doesn't like it there.

Been here many times in the past been awhile. Not impressed and will not be back. Used to be generous. Now I feel overpriced and not much care put in their dishes. Ordered from their fresco menu pasta was not great had a broth like sauce kind of like chicken soup stock not very tasty. Bruschetta appetizer was 3 tiny toasted french bread with tomatoes and literally a piece as in 1 on each of feta. Salad skimpy what can I say. I guess when you sit on bench and it flips up and waitress indicates it will be more stable when husband sits that says it all. Not a fussy person but expect more with the prices that are charged. Too bad was a nice place.

We both had ceasar salad. It arrived with a delicious bread stick. The salad was fresh with a house dressing. Our entrees were Pasta Primavera and Gorgonzola Chicken. Portions are good and ingredients well balanced. They were both delicious. Again we were too full for dessert but took it to go. Lots of choices so it was hard to decide. Erin our waitress helped us narrow our choice and they were great.
