You have the opinions of real people like you who purchase the products of Prince Edward Island Preserve Company (Coffee Shop) in Cavendish (Canada).
To this day this business receives a score of 4.6 stars over 5 and the score has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is practically the best, and it is based on a large number of reviews, so we can say that the rating is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to give their review when they are happy, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to set feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Coffee Shop is included in the category of Gift shop.
I would of given a better score but I was really disappointed with customer service. We asked for a table of 5 but they marked us down for 4. So we got put in que to wait again for a table for 5. If they had listened and put us in for a table of 5 instead of 4 we wouldn't have to wait for over 40 minutes. Another thing was we asked about peanuts as we had a member of our party that had an alergy to pea nuts. Hostess said the food could have contact and the waiter said no peanuts on premises except maybe a tree nut (peacons). So those items prevented me from giving 5 stars.
Great little spot with a beautiful garden walk. My daughters loved the mini horses and the donkey.
Amazing breakfast, great service, and an incredible view. What more can you ask for?
There are delicious food, great dessert, and beautiful scenery.
Wonderful location and beautiful garden's. Dining area could use an update.
If you go to PEI you should make plans to go here, preferably in the morning for their breakfast offerings especially.
Great food and great service. Interesting store with PEI themed products. Beautiful grounds with walking trails.
I grew up with the PEI Preserve Company in my life. I remember my mother bringing me there as a treat, while she bought preserves. I remember so clearly pulling up to the big sunshine yellow building, running inside and finding the saltine crackers and waiting patiently for my mom to catch up so I could try some samples. I now live in Ontario and I am raising my own family, three boys. Imagine my surprise when I go home, and for my firstborn's third birthday I get to take him to one of my favourite childhood memories. So much has changed on PEI since I've been been away, but the quality and hospitality of the PEI Preserve company remains intact. I am so overjoyed that I am able to share this place, a part of my home and heart, with my boys.
Cute stop. The preserves are wonderful and you can sample to your heart's content. You will surely be heading home with the Raspberry with Champagne and Wild Blueberry Lemon. So good! Be sure to walk down through the beautiful garden near the water. Gorgeous view!
Nice
Great spot to get some preserves and the walking track is terrific.
There is a large selection of preserves and tea pots. The cafe has the best meals, deserts and teas I've tasted.
While the jam/store side is fine, the restaurant food is cheap and you get what you pay for. My lunch was only 8 dollars and you know what? I didn't want an 8 dollar lunch. My sandwich looked like something you pick up at the gas station. I wanted a 17 dollar lunch, presented nicely with quality ingredients. They have much better food at road side diners around Charlottetown. Was seriously disappointed and will never go back. Great if all you care about is saving money - in which case you might as well stop by the grocery store and get sandwich ingredients because it will definitely work out better for you. They need to improve the food quality and presentation and add at least 50 to 100% onto the price of everything and upscale it a bit more. They obviously need some new management, because this is a missed opportunity! The scenery is great, the venue is great, the food is junk.
A tasty stop. Jams & preserves of all kinds made right here, home made ice cream, lunch/dinner, views of osprey diving in the River Clyde, butterfly house, botanical garden. A stop worthy of your time.
very long waits. definitely get a reservation if you plan on coming here!! their potato pie is what they’re known for and it’s very good!! i loved their stacking tea pot/cup, so very cute; and the variety of teas are amazing! even their desserts were very good. the service was very good considering how busy it was. I really just loved the atmosphere of this place!! i would definitely recommend coming here for brunch!!
A go to for islanders and tourists alike.
Best breakfast in PEI it won't disappoint. Make sure to check out their selections of homemade preserves.
We are very frequent visitors at Prince Edward Island Preserve Company. The gift shop is tasteful and the display of samples of preserves is wonderful to enjoy, maybe as a dessert after a meal or as an teaser if you arrive a few minutes before your reservation. Now, the real deal: the food is excellent, the hosts are always bright and fresh; Bruce, the kilted owner is always bustling and accessible. The food? Always fantastic, good wholesome fare but presented with flair; modest prices. The kicker (and a huge indicator of their motto - Everything in Good Taste) - the restaurant does not have a deep fryer on the site!!!
Great selection of locally made jams and preserves along with other Island treasures. Their is a restaurant onsite and this place is within walking distance of the Toy Factory the New Glasgow Lobster Supper. We stop here every year to pickup a selection of jams and preserves, always a hit!
The best place around for a tasty breakfast.
A bit pricey but nice things made onsite.
Best preserves and jellies.
Great local product, delightful restaurant and beautiful attached garden and walking. It is a must visit location every time I travel to PEI.
Lots of great jams and jellies plus nice little restaurant.
Great Potato Pie
I was served a bowl of left-over mussels that came in a bowl of dirty salt water (presumably the same stuff they store the mussels in after cooking them). When I asked the waitress about it she lied and tried to tell me it was a white wine sauce. She did admit I was given an "extra big portion because the cook was going to throw them out anyways". So basically I paid to be their waste disposal service? Granted, we visited the place later in the shift, but when I pay the same price as the people eating at the start of the shift, I expect the same quality. Very disappointed.
Nice atmosphere. Staff were great. Didn't love breakfast which was the country breakfast. But just my tastebuds.
We went twice during our visit to PEI... that's how good this restaurant is. First time we had the grilled veggie sandwich (delicious) and lobster quiche (fantastic). The desserts are to die for. Sticky date pudding... worth going just for this! Also the raspberry cheesecake pie... my husband loved it... but my pudding was THE BEST! Second time I had fish cakes (fresh & yummy) and he had the PEI potatoe pie... absolutely delicious... wish I'd ordered it. We were in the Cafe second time... the restaurant is so busy, best to make reservations if you can. But same menu, just less options. So no date pudding there, shared the raspberry pie with hubby. Delicious! Go here! Staff are super friendly too!
awesome awesome food the staff and chief all wonderful
I've visited this place a couple times now, I always like the food, love the jam and spend some time in their gardens. Awesome experience
Yummy stuff in here
We discovered pei preserves 28 years ago on our honeymoon, when they had little more than jams. Go there everytime we're on the island. The dining room is a must, the gardens are a must
An absolutely beautiful, relaxing place right in the heart of tourist-country in PEI. They have the most DELICIOUS jams, sauces, teas, and home made PEI goods available in all of New London and surrounding areas!! Go to their little restaurant inside and enjoy their mouth-watering desserts, especially the Tiramisu!!!
Very happy with the food and service. Feels very authentic and welcoming. The prices also seemed reasonable given the quality and service. Beautiful gardens that make for an amazing wall after a meal. Also, didn't have a chance to have dessert, but will definitely be going back as it looked amazing.
Scenic Island beauty: gardens, butterflies, preserves, and a sweet little cafe.
What a beautiful gift shop. Their homemade preserves are delicious, and they have lots of other little things in their too.
We enjoyed an outstanding lunch! Fresh and very memorable. If you just go for the food you will not be disappointed. An exceptional way to enjoy the PEI state of mind.
Stopped by while on a tour of the island. Our guide suggested this place and food was good. Chowder was tasty and biscuit was great for dripping. Waitress was fine although service for a club sandwich, chicken and the chowder took over 45 minutes. Seems that the kitchen was very slow for all meals so no time for dessert which looked amazing. Lovely garden to look at while waiting. So pack your patience and take a few minutes to shop for preserves. Tasting was available or taste of the day.
Excellent food, friendly service and a great location. The "Gardens of Hope" are definitely worth a stroll. On top of that, there is free level 2 charging available for your EV.
Delicious food at a beautiful location. Take a walk in the Gardens of Hope, sit in one of the lovely spots and enjoy the peace.
Randomly went here for breakfast. The view is quite peaceful, and the breakfast was delicious and decently priced. Service was also great. Staff we had interact with we're very friendly.
Amazing food and service..
Potato pie is to die for!
Great food with a beautiful scenic view while you have breakfast or lunch. This is a wonderful , unique shopping experience and the walk about on the grounds is absolutely stunning for all ages. The Butterfly House is an experience you will never forget , as an adult or child , as the experience of hundreds of butterflies landing on you is so unique.
Food was great. But never had a 10.00 beer in my life. Not sure if I will be back. Felt I was taken advantage of. But !!
Yummy, yummy, yummy. A little pricey but worth every penny. Great service. Bought tons of jam to take home after my meal.
My favourite place ❤️
We tried some nice jams and then has coffee in the cafe. Our 6 year old enjoyed some great blueberry pancakes. I liked watching the kingfishers on the river.
Fresh food. No deep fried stuff. Great tea and the ambiance is amazing.
Excellent place. We love to go to lunch, delicious food and later walk into gardens!
We love their lobster chowder.
What a great experience! Delicious preserves you can taste before purchase. A beautiful restaurant with a stunning view and delicious food. Gorgeous gardens including a butterfly house, a whimsical fairy garden inside a magic forest and lots of beautiful trails. So much to explore!!!
Lot’s of great treats must visit place here in PEI
Great place with food, preserves shop and garden all attached!
Wow! Perfect serving size, perfect staff, and perfect good. Not too touristy and worthy it. Would go again!
Great, friendly service. Always a pleasure to shop here. Quality products.
Beautifully quaint shop.
Had a great breakfast at a competitive price, Service was excellent in a wonderful atmosphere. Highly Recommend!
Great store to visit, friendly service. When you visit, wonder into the Gardens of Hope. It's a little unknown gem.
Great fresh seafood. Friendly people. Beautiful sights.
Superb reception, quaint English-inspired beach house decor & setting on the shore of the Clyde River, New Glasgow. Menus are only available in English. If you're sitting in the private-ish dining area off the main dining hall, ensure that you have both a beverage and food menu, otherwise you may find yourself ready to order, and have idea what beverages are available. Service was seriously lacking once seated. Had to find the remote for the heat pump to turn on the HVAC, as the room was overheating once all guests from our party had been seated. Would suggest not asking for any substitutions, because while you might get some slight attitude from the server when asking for veggies instead of potatoes, your dish will come as prepared anyway. We did have 2 servers, which seemed to be the source of some general confusion when plates arrived from kitchen. Wrong beverages and apples being served to wrong tables, and once most of the disorganization had been sorted. Meals were generally seemed to be standard tourist diner fare, but nothing that I'm going to rave to come close to raving about in the pages of Bon Appétit. Réception = 5/5 Decor = 4/5 Comfort = 3/5 Meals = 3/5 Server 1 = 4/5 Server 2 = 2/5 Value for price = 2/5 Free wifi
Great food and excellent views. A must try if you're in the New Glasgow/ Cavendish area.
5/5 Breakfast - simple and delicious, be prepared to wait if you don’t have a reservation. We went for a walk in their gardens before getting a table 4/5 Lunch - returned another day for lunch and it missed the mark, air conditioning was a bonus during the heat wave. Make sure to buy some jams on the way out, their hot sauce is also delicious
Went here for breakfast on the last day of our vacation. Was a bit of a wait to get in but we were able to pass time in their beautiful gardens. Food was amazing and came quickly even with how busy they were. Will definitely be back on next trip to PEI.
Great spot.. the gardens of hope are beautiful!!!
Delicious food and great service
Excellent atmosphere
Love the jams, but not my ideal place to eat. They do not have much in the way of lactose free options.
First, let's start with the bad (because they are relatively minor points): - the wait for food was ~25 minutes. We were informed this would be the case, though. However, I overheard one woman saying to a couple who walked out "be here tomorrow by 9am or it will likely be the same". This leads me to think - if you're consistently this busy, why not increase kitchen capacity or add more serving staff? - the server wasn't present enough for my tastes. Breakfast is a fast-paced meal (lots of coffee needs, etc.) She was sweet! But we didn't see much of her and I'm assuming she had a large section to manage. - the eggs and potatoes were bland and I didn't realize I hadn't been asked about my eggs until scrambled eggs showed up. Funny not to have a choice. - portions seemed a little small. I'm still hungry. The good: - the location is beautiful. Views from the dining room are absolutely gorgeous. - the blueberry pancakes were AMAZING. So damn good. - presentation on the plates was very nice. - everyone was very friendly. - the grounds and shops are also incredibly beautiful and feature some really great stuff. All in all, I'd break it down like this: Shops/grounds: 5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Overall: 4/5 Worth a trip! But I won't be in a rush to come back since I can get a similar experience faster in many places. Really, the time thing is what killed it for me. Many people may not mind as it makes your breakfast seem less rushed. Perhaps you'll enjoy talking to your dining partner(s). But for a quick bite, head elsewhere. If you're there for the shops and other scenery - absolutely worth dropping by!
We go here each summer for a meal or two. The location is wonderful, with a great view! Food is generally very good and reasonably priced. Today we stopped by for tea and dessert. The lemon curd cake was fantastic. The blueberry pie was a bit too sweet so the lovely blueberry tartness got lost in all that sugar. Recommended.
Food always is excellent and the people are friendly and helpful
Good selection of preserves and similar products but found that the price was high for what you get.
There is a wonderful cafe with a good variety of food (fabulous lobster chowder & rasoberry cream cheese pie and teas in a bright airy space overlooking the river along with the opportunity to taste their wares of sweet & savoury preserves made on site.
Delicious desserts, and wonderful preserves. Make sure to take a walk through their gardens afterwards!
Simple super
I was really disappointed in the quality of the breakfast. My waffle was undercooked kinda doughy, and had strange taste. Like they used GF flour or something. The cream was fake instead of real dairy, the fruit was not enough for the waffle. I love the gardens and the little cafe..but it was just fair quality food in the restaurant.
Great little menu. Paise potato pie
5 stars for the preserves shop and the surrounding gardens. I've never eaten at the restaurant so can't comment on that but can recommend that the gardens alone are worth the stop. At the preserves store you'll find an amazing selection of spreads, sauces, and teas.
Live accordion music to accompany supper, does it get any better?
Delicious preserves and food, always stocked! Staff is nice and helpful. Peach salsa, shortbread, raspberry champagne jam is good!
The food was AMAZING! well priced, great staff, beautiful stained glass windows, and all while overlooking their trail. The trail is also beautiful. The store contains beautiful local art (also in the restauarant) as well as a large variety of jams and teas to name a few. their jam is very tasty and they offer shipping if you don't have room in your luggage.
Awesome preserves and tea. Don't forget to take in the butterfly house and of course the Bumbleberry pie!
Beautiful views from the eating area with panoramic windows overlooking the scenery. Food was good and menu had a fair amount of options.
great food that leaves you feeling satisfied but not stuffed. The gardens are also a great way to enjoy some peaceful time after or before eating
Some of the best Jams I ever had. The one time I got a bad jar they mailed me another with no fuss.
The products are beautiful, and the prices are good, but the customer service on our order failed. We wanted to order a Christmas gift for people in New Brunswick. We wanted to order early but have the package shipped nearer to Christmas. We exchanged emails asking about this and were told that it was no problem and that we should just place this information in the notes on the order. We did and we kept the notes clear and concise. We ordered in early November and the next day received notification that the order was being shipped. We immediately called to ask if this was a mistake but no one answered the call. We emailed back but did not get a reply until the next day. The reply was basically 'oops, sorry' because the order was already gone. We are very disappointed with the customer service. We cannot afford to buy another Christmas gift for these people, nor can we grab it off their porch and hide it, as we are in Alberta. Why tell people that they can give directions in the notes if no one is going to read the notes?
The preserves are amazing, gift shop is fantastic. However I waited for twenty minutes in line to get take out dessert and they continued to help everyone but us. Very frustrating so I waited an additional ten minutes and then left empty handed. Make a reservation for the dining room or don't visit the resto at all. Our group left without the staff not saying a word in thirty minutes is a bit of a bad look for customer service.
A must do. Decent food and the best jams on the island. Breakfast is good and reasonably priced.
Great place yo get really good cookies and sweets
We had a small tour/explanation of the business by the owner, and then we bought some jellies for gifts. After consuming them at home, I ordered more for Christmas. And I appreciate the friendly handwritten card thanking us for the order. This company is to be commended.
Fantastic food! Stop in and get famous preserves! My favorite is the Raspberries and Champagne!
Gourmet in Canada????????I had a signature dish of this restaurant. cheese potato pie there with home made sauce using a bit maple syrup .very friendly atmosphere and tasty food....also homemade products such as jam and tea are available on the store in the same site.
This restaurant and shop caters to the tourist crowd, but it is a lovely place for lunch and tea.
In you are on PEI, you MUST eat here. Do yourself a favor. You won't be disappointed. 1.Food: AMAZING. 2. Tea: AMAZING. 3. Preserves: AMAZING. THIS IS A MUST GO. Do all those capital letters communicate the need for you to visit??? It should.
The food is delicious although very rich. The wait staff were great and the atmosphere was beautiful as we had a table overlooking the water.
A+
Has jams and such. Go early if you want breakfast!
Really enjoyed the fish cakes and the atmosphere inside was nice.
Service was excellent; gardens and restaurant atmosphere was terrific. Food was ok.
Potato pie was amazing and they had an incredible tomato bisque that I enjoyed a great deal. A wonderful place to eat, and there are some great views. The preserves themselves are high quality and delicious, we bought a bunch of jams to take home ????
Great food, gardens, and preserves
We come here every year when we visit the island. We brought a friend this year who had never been to PEI. She wanted to deeply explore the gardens after dinner at the restaurant. It was magical at twilight.
Go and test all the good spreads, confitures and other good things offerd for testing. You will buy at least 2 or 3 jars for sure!
Great selection. Beautiful garden beside it.
Great view, good food, reasonable price, lots of tea and home baking, a must visit.
The Preserve Company was our favorite meal on the island during our visit! Delicious food, friendly service, and lots of yummy samples. I would recommend this to anyone taking a trip to PEI!
Gorgeous gardens, amazing food and products! Worth a visit
Damn good food! A bit pricey though.
What an awesome place! The selection of jams, jellies, sauces, coffees and teas is impressive. The facilities, including a separate building to host events and a restaurant, are very nice. The grounds, which include an amazing garden around a picturesque lake, are also very amazing and well maintained! Definitely a high recommendation from me.
Food was good. Portion size was small. Very nice view!
The food was delicious. Would recommend, though, that a jam company haat least waffles as an important part of an all day breakfast. $$$$.
Boring place, nothing for young people, good for boring old people
This was such a beautiful place to visit. We did not dine; however, we did walk all the trails and visit the Butterfly House. The trails were very stroller accommodating and the general up keep of the area was simply stunning. We spend a couple hours here and it was very relaxing and a nice change of pace compared to the typical vacation sight seeing. Can we talk about the price of the Butterfly house for a second though. It cost over $30 for a family of 4 to touch a few Butterflies in a room that was as hot as an oven.
Very friendly and helpful staff, free samples and big selection! Plus the jam was delicious.
Great breakfast and gift store. Excellent service
Great food
Great lobster lunch.
It is a cold day in Sydney, Australia and I am spiritually and physically warmed by a beautiful cup of your Almond Marzipan tea. It reminds me of cold wintery days on my Oma's Nova Scotian farm eating marzipan cake and watching the snow fall. Thank you for a wonderful memory and delicious cup of tea!
Wonderful park to walk through, butterfly reserve and a good restaurant
First you'll attend the gallery with lots of crafts and pottery. You may wander around and test the whole collection of mouthwatering jams and jellies with sips of herbal tea. The price is reasonable. The menu is satisfying. Don't miss the tea. The serving is super awesome. I loved the waiters in particular. They are not typical like hand picked ones as popular places would do. They are REAL people with real interactions. Would try this place over and over. The breakfast is over by 11, which is not that long.
(Translated) The place is fantastic on any date of the year. The best jams. (Original) El lugar es fantastico en cualquier fecha del año. Las mermeladas buenisimas.
In the top 4 or 5 restaurants to eat at on PEI in the summer months. They started taking reservations, which deserves a star. The food is getting better too. Service has been great. Surrounding gardens are beautiful. Overlooking the Clyde River. Dropped off 1 star due to the amount of spiders on the outside windows. I'm a severe arachnophobe so perhaps it's my own fault, but a little spider spray on the window sills would rock my world. Make a reservation, this place is very busy in the summer months, especially weekends.
A nice little spot to have tea after visiting Green Gables. They also sell a variety of delicious preserves to take home with you.
Chips in the kids meal were stale, chowder was cold, biscuit had no taste. The strawberry rhubarb pie was all filling with no crust. They had no pizza or pasta in the kids menu because they had ran out. Over priced and not worth it. The preserve samples were great though.
Nice view and gardens.
My girlfriend and I had scrumptious Baileys cheesecake then took a walk through the gardens of Hope. It was lovely and tranquil.
Beautiful room with a spectacular view. Friendly service, good selection, well-prepared food. Classic breakfast with eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and blueberry pancakes was delicious and filling.
Great place also adjacent to garden of hope in PEI. A place to be visited if you are visiting the island ???? Parking is a concern if you are there in the peak hours of 9 am to 2pm.
Awesome place to eat! Great food!
Excellent food, and hospitality
Beautiful location and decor!!! Sit by the window of you can. We had the homemade lemonade and iced tea (cut with half lemonade on the waitresses spot-on recommendation) which were both delicious! My boyfriend ordered the lobster pot pie and it was “really freaking good” and I had the potato pie which was also good. Wish I had ordered one of their teas, they all sounded delicious and came in beautiful tea sets! This place is a tad pricey, but it’s worth the splurge.
Nice surprise, looking for a coffee with a view, and we discovered the Preserve Company. Beautiful location with stunning views over lake. And the Raspberry cheesecake was perfect. The gardens and short walk around this place were all decorated for Thanksgiving. Very nice.
Love eating here! We just had our anniversary supper here and it was lovely. :) Our food was delicious, service was great - thanks Paula!- and cheesecake was to die for! We bought a mug and jam in the gift shop and will definitely be back again soon! :)
Went for lunch! Restaurant ambiance ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ with the large windows overlooking a picturesque river and garden, the fish ornated stained-glass, high ceilings, wooden country aesthetic. Service so fast and friendly! Many gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu. Nachos great. Unique fruit salsa flavors available for tasting and purchase in-house. GRILLED VEGI SANDWICH WAS AMAZING You can walk in the gardens outside as well. And there's a store.
This place is really good, the they have a restaurant, little walk and jam! Everything here is delightful. I remember coming here as a young child and it's the same as I remember
I am never let down here! The food and service are spectacular.
Beautiful view, great food. Plus there's a shop selling all sorts of preserves.
Great meal and great service. Even though the parking lot was full the service was prompt and the food hot. Great breakfast spot and awesome view.
Love this place!
Superb Island landmark. Great food and excellent desserts. Highly recommended.
There can be a longer wait sometimes, but it's totally worth it! Food is always so incredible, hot, fresh and good portion size for the price. The raspberry cream cheese pie is a must try, and the preserves and oatcakes are a yearly staple with my family. Raspberry/blueberry with champagne yummy!!
The PEI Preserve Company offers a nice dining experience and the tea selection is excellent. We were not overly impressed with the lasagna (fairly standard), however the salads and fish cakes were good.
We really enjoyed lunch in the Cafe today! We had the Lobster Quiche and Fish Cakes, tea and shared thr Lemon Curd Cake. It was delicious and the service was excellent! Bought a few items in the store and then walked through the Garden of Hope. What a lovely aftenoon!
We stopped for a mid day snack at the new garden cafe and it was everything we could have wanted and more. The treats were delicious and the drinks were to die for. Amazing service and beautiful views of the Gardens of Hope.
Really good ice cream. The strawberry and blueberry are my favorites. Apple crisp crumbles flavor was too sweet.
Very nice staff. Very helpful and caring. Scrumptious good, too!
Great place for breakfast!
Great spot for breakfast or tea + dessert. Several of the dishes are mediocre (e.g. Sandwiches & kids menu), but their signature dishes are popular (e.g. Potato Pie, seafood items)
Very Nice!
Amazing view, food, service and personnal pot of tea!
Best selection of Dunoon "in the world" ! Delicious jam.
One of my favourite places on the Island. Enjoy a meal (fish cakes are my favourite), and then take a walk through the Gardens of Hope along the river.
Great food and staff but takes long to get food
Enjoyed my meal, but was out with my kids and neice and nephew and they gave my just barely 2 year old son a glass full to the brim with milk and no straw and no surprise he spilled it. As the parent I am obviously to blame but it's a nice touch when out with small kids when they have kid appropriate cups for small children. Takes the stress off the caregivers. The place was packed so we had a wait for a table which was to be expected. Our food was very fast though.
Excellent hosts. Great pies and jams
Great food. Friendly staff.
Soooo many preserves! Plus samples of so many of them! There's a little glass area just inside the front door where you can watch the preserves getting bottled! This place has samples galore and there's a restaurant with great cakes to the back. From preserves to chocolate sauce, maple syrup, and hot sauce, the place has a ton of delicious items to buy. We also got an ice cold raspberry cordial here as well! So good!
Local preserves
Very good food I was impressed. Good PEI service. I did enjoy the view of the river, good assortment on the menu and yes got to have dessert. I would suggest to the owners, upgrade the chair. This is the only reason they got 4 ????
What a great spot. Awesome to explore, sooo much to see and take in. Book off the time to spend at least 1.5-2 hours here. A magnificent 12 acre garden. Great trails and views. Great preserves jams and salsa's with free samples. Busy restaurant with great food as well. The butterfly house is sooo worth seeing.
A fantastic Restaurant, Gift Shop, with quality gift items and unique preserves! All overlooking the river Clyde! Don't miss it!
You have to love a place where you can shop for great island preserves( china and paintings), have a great meal made with island ingredients, and go through a Butterfly house and see some very exotic butterflies. all at the same location.
Watch them make it plus free samples!
We love this place, the food is great, we love looking over the river, and sometimes we get to see hummingbirds eating at the flowers outside! Decorations are really nice inside too
Lovely online experience - customer service was excellent in responding to my request by having my items shipped out quickly for an event. Would highly recommend :) they are also one of two official Canadian stockists for Dunoon mugs and was so please to browse through their collection!
Beautiful selection of jams and other preserves! The strawberry rhubarb jam is delicious. I ended up buying a lot more than I expected. Neat place to check out if you're in the area.
Staff were really nice. Homemade ice tea was delicious
I want to commend the staff of the Preserve company for a fabulous day of food and learning about making preserves on PEI. The food was delicious and the hospitality superb. Thank you, Karen Haghenbeck
Fun to sample the different types of jams and jelly and teas. A lot of variety to choose from and very helpful and pleasent staff.
Yum and it's lovely by the river with all the quilts.
The restaurant had amazing food and the butterfly house has some beautiful creatures.
Great place. Although it took quite a while to get the food.
They're like the mad scientists of preserves. I've seen others do this in other countries, but they can't top this.
ALWAYS great service and great products!!
Happening busy store. Lots of preserves and other items. Samples. $10 for 250ml $$$. Beautiful garden walk. Cafe. Well worth a stop.
Great stop with lots of cool Finds.
They had delicious samples of every preserve and some of the teas along with a great view on the walking trail nearby.
If you like jam, this is the place for you. There are some amazing aspects to the preserve company, but the dining experience is a miss. The range and quality of the preserves is excellent. They also offer a lot of free samples, which helps when you're looking to buy a jar. Interestingly, our favorite part were the gardens! They were idyllic, peaceful, and restorative. Not many people seemed to venture outside, but they're perhaps the best part. The preserves and garden are a solid 5 stars. Unfortunately, the dining experience was sub-par, 2 stars at best. The tables were cheap and unclean. We ordered a slice of ice cream cake. While it was very delicious, it was a sliver; perhaps 3cm wide. After tax and tip it came to $9, but for the size and quality, it shouldn't have been more than $5. Try the jams, lie in the gardens, but skip the dining hall.
Friendly store, we were actually greeted by the owner/founder! Literally hundreds of preserves and flavorings! Great little restaurant too! Clean and easygoing shopping and dining!
Get your jams on here! Simply one of the best preserve companies in the world! Flying back and are afraid customs is going to take it away (so they can snack on it...)? You can order directly from their website!
Tha potatoes pie was delicious, as was the fish cakes and steak &cheese sandwich. For dessert there is always the raspberry cheesecake pie And the new sticky date pudding. The meal as a whole was a 10 out of 10.
Ranked as the #1 Restaurant by TripAdvisor at New Glasgow in PEI, Prince Edward Island Preserve Co is the most picturesque restaurant I've ever visited in a small town setting! Don't forget to taste Lobster Chowder from their menu! Absolutely delicious!
great food, great service, great place
Lovely dining on the River Clyde. Beautiful atmosphere with friendly staff. Stop in at the gift shop on your way out.
Brought the little kids here to visit the butterfly house. We enjoyed it, but it is over-priced.
Restaurant was busy so we ordered take out. Seafood chowder was delicious. A surprise gem was the sweet salsa and chips with my wife's sandwich. Check out the local jams you won't be disappointed.
The wait time was minimal for just walking in. I got a gluten free Belgian waffle and it was absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be coming back
It was an awesome experience. Grand children loved it.
Best jam I've had in a long time, probably best in Canada. The sweetness is not overpowering unlike Paul who gave us some.
A hidden gem. Lots of unique things on the menu - try the potato pie (hint: the crust is bacon).
Excellent products and friendly service
Dining room is a great breakfast option. Homey atmosphere, great views and beautiful gardens. Preserve shop offers a large variety of samples. Definitely worth a stop!
Food was very good- no concerns at all. Grounds, shop, scenery, etc are all very lovely. Our problem was the service in the restaurant. Our server, an older lady, was very friendly but overwhelmed with her job. She greeted us after we had waited for several minutes at our table and said she would bring us our water. Never happened. After 15 minutes or so, she saw us looking around and realized she had forgotten us- even admitted so. Placed our order and finally got a glass of water but not the coffee we had ordered. In the meantime, a cruise ship bus came in and they got priority service. Finally got our food after half an hour. Had to ask for our coffee again. No refills and no checks to see if everything is okay. Loved my meal- service not so much. As well, I have an allergy to wine vinegars and asked if any salad dressings contained them- never found out. Desserts looked great but didn’t want to take chance of waiting long periods
Service was slow but we didn't expect it to be fast since it was so busy. Staff were very friendly and working very hard. Food well worth the wait.
Lovely online shopping experience! I recently ordered a few sweets from here in Toronto to send to someone temporarily staying in PEI. I did some online searching and stumbled upon this great company in PEI. Ordered some shortbread and Cavendish Creams to be sent to her. There was a hiccup because of the recipients delivery address (which is totally our issue, not due to The Preserve Company's fault) and Bruce emailed me right away and he was able to resolve it for us. He contacted me minutes after placing my order which was delightfully surprising! From the online shopping to my communications with Bruce, my experience placing the order was a breeze and very reassuring. I am delighted to have found this company and I look forward to placing more orders with them in the future now that I know they can also ship Canada wide! I'm a very happy camper and I'd like to thank Bruce for making me feel like a very valued customer :) Best regards, Marlene
It's just the best! There is nothing like a "family owned business," that one loves & believes in. Shirley & Bruce put their whole heart & soul into making great products. They seem to have something for "everyone." There is always someone to greet you with a smile! (Which is rare these days.) Never pass up the opportunity to visit them. Added attraction of course......is getting a wee glimpse of Bruce in his kilt. (Remember girls his heart belongs to his one & only sweetheart Shirley.) Also, Prince Edward Island is a must to visit! In my book it's "just a wee bit of heaven." Mary Conrad (McMahon)
Fun and beautiful. A little expensive but you can find deals.
Gooseberry and current jam to die for. Worth the drive.
Was a great meal and great time with friends.
Great rooms, friendly people!!
Great breakfast (especially the homefries), wonderful tea selection, good jam and a stunning view. Changing stations in the mens and womens bathrooms, which is always very convenient. Very kind service. We'll be back. ????
Great place ! Cant wait to eat my jams!
The jams were fresh and tasty. The bread warm and soft. The view was amazing and the service great.
Beautiful gardens!
Their desserts are fantastic but the actual meals leave something to be desired. It's as if they were premade and then heated up.
Great garden very scenic, the shop was nice some good sauces and dips there. Didn't try the restaurant, it looked busy and there seemed to be a wait for food.
Food was good . Gift shop is excellent.
Wonderful lunch and fabulous China.
Went in mid-Sept so almost no wait time. The FISH CAKES were to die for! LOBSTER QUICHE was also very tasty. Also, the most amazing view inside with large cathedral-style windows, stained glass and river views. Stunning views. Perfect for date nights.
Excellent service, products, food, scenery and more...
Found this little gem a few years ago. We cross the bridge every year just to get some preserve and breakfast. The food is so good, coffee amazing and you can shop for some preserves! I mean how much more fun can it get The sceneries are beautiful. You can take a walk in the garden to digest everything. A must if your in the area. You will not regret!!!
Well this was a pleasant surprise. Chowder was absolutly amazing. The service was great and freindly. The ribs were tender and well flavored and well cooked. I enjoyed the Haddock hodge podge but felt the fish portion was a little small for the price I paid. But the flavor sure was there and it was a great combination to a baked Haddock.
The Seafood Bubbly Bake was fabulous!! I would definitely have it again if I was in this province! Yummy!! It was recommended to us by someone we met. The Haddock with white cream sauce was tasteless; it needed to be grilled, have a crumb coating, or have more seasonings- very disappointing! The snap peas with it were absolute perfection: crisp and perfect! The carrots with it were nice too. The seasonal vegetables were super fresh! For dessert, we had Raspberry Cream Cheese Pie - their most popular pie. It was very good; it tasted like they just picked the raspberries! The raspberry pie filling was super fresh with a homemade crust. I wanted to buy the raspberry pie filling from their adjacent store, but alas they don't sell any! The adjacent store sells cooked jams galore, adorable fancy and expensive tea pots, tea cups, etc. The restaurant has a lovely setting overlooking the river. They serve tea in adorable teapots. The Gardens of Hope is a gorgeous walk leading up to this restaurant. There is a butterfly place in the Gardens of Hope. The butterfly place costs money, but the gardens do not.
Great service
Thanks so much for your great service! I really enjoy my new teapot! A great experience for sure. Would love to visit your store sometime in person. But for now... you do an awesome job online!
I didn't realize when I first came here, but there are actually 3 reasons to visit the Preserve Company. 1. THE SHOP: Perhaps the main reason most people visit, is for the delicious jams and spreads and other goodies found in their shop. We tried a good number of them and they were all delicious. There is a good selection of unique flavours as well. 2. THE RESTAURANT: Really enjoyed the restaurant, the food was all very delicious and fresh with good options. Ate here twice and both times the waiters were very friendly. It's a really good space to just chat and enjoy the beautiful scenery outside. The portions were a bit on the small side but overall I would still recommend. 3. THE GARDEN: I think a lot of tourist might just swing by, pick up some jam and leave, but after eating at the restaurant decided to take a stroll around the garden. It's quite beautiful, you can tell they took a lot of time, care and effort with it. I think the property is used at times for a retreat centre as well, overall it's just a really tranquil and beautiful area. I would recommend visit the store to by some jam, enjoy a nice meal and then after take a nice walk through the garden.
Very nice store to visit a must traveling to Prince Edward Island
Lovely place with beautiful views and delicious food.
Had breakfast there and the pancakes with real maple syrup were amazing. The people were extremely friendly, and one of the owners themselves was at the shop front helping bag purchases. There's is a homey feel there and I would definitely go back
Excellent preserves! My wife and I absolutely love the BBQ sauce! The habanero mango sauce is a must try for spicy BBQ chicken. Haven't tried the restraunt but would like to. Great views!
Great breakfast and lovely atmosphere
One of our favorite places! Enjoy a delightful cup of tea, delicious meal and dessert or sample the many preserves made on the premise. The dining room overlooks the Clyde River and the Gardens of Hope. Take a stroll through the lovely gardens and enjoy the beautiful views. The Butterfly House at the top of the gardens is a hit with both children and adults. You'll not be disappointed in your visit!
Very nice atmosphere, good food, a bit pricey.
(Translated) Exquisite and delicious, beautiful environment (Original) 精致美味,环境优美
Fantastic gem of a restaurant. Beautiful views, fantastic food and friendly staff. Gluten free options too. Highly recommend!
Excellent customer service
Came at lunch on a Friday with wife and son while visiting PEI and it was crazy busy. Was told it would be about a 30 minute wait for a table but ended up being 52 minutes. After we were seated was over 45 minutes to get food (2 x sandwhiches with chips and potato pie with caeser salad). The waitress let us know part way through that the kitchen was struggling and even brought us some chips to snack on which was nice. The food was good and the view from our table was really nice. Bottom line: Good food but not worth an almost 2 hour wait. I'd suggest you try this place and, if you get told the wait is 15 minutes or more, bail and find somewhere else nearby (like Cavendish) for a meal.
Great restaurant and gift shop!
Only scrambled eggs.....too easy chef and boring. If you can't cook an egg get out of the kitchen. Not impressed.
Delicious preserves!
Beautiful yummy jams. Collector of tea cups, they have one for you Walk the Hope Garden Leave room for a slice of Raspberry cheese cake
Quality products, promptly shipped. Love the preserves and spices!
(Translated) Warm welcome. I am allergic to peanuts and we took great care to check with the cook with a smile. Everything is delicious. And dozens of varieties of teas served in a beautiful porcelain teapot. View of the water. Store to buy jam, homemade chutney. As a bonus, a magnificent garden to visit. With horses and magic forest. To do absolutely. Notice to allergy sufferers: beware of jams and other chutneys made in the store and which accompany meals in restaurants because they make peanut bars! (Original) Accueil chaleureux. A faire absolument. Avis aux personnes allergiques : attention toutefois aux confitures et autres chutneys faits au magasin et qui accompagnent les mets au restaurant car ils font des barres aux arachides !
Simply the best breakfast venue and food ever! Fantastic service too!
Absolutely beautiful scenery in rural PEI. So peaceful and not far from Charlottetown. Great food, friendly staff and their preserves are very good and tasty. A must place to visit. Do not miss this beautiful Island. Sooo much to see, play, great for everyone, Lovely beaches, golf crouses and the scenery is awesome.
Really nice food and scenery. Don't be afraid to have dessert with breakfast.
The food is absolutely delicious. I was given a small bottle of the Raspberry with Champagne preserve as a gift, now I'm online to buy more.
Have been there for breakfast twice. Great food and service and I thought the price was very reasonable.
Love the tea, jam and deserts. After dinner I buy jam and tea for home. Nice view and gardens.
What a beautiful place to be. Awesome Friendly people. Beautiful sceneries.i would love to live here. It adds years to your life.
An environment of natural beauty, great food, friendly staff. Wonderful place.
We visited this restaurant as part of a cruise excursion. The owner is wonderful and the food is great.
Sooooo scenic. Great food and preserves from the shop too.
Terrific variety of jams and preserves and a beautiful setting. It seemed a bit pricey to me, but I may just be a cheapskate.
(Translated) Awesome! (Original) Formidable!
Had a wonderful potato pie. I was skeptical at first but made me a believer out of me
A must visit. Gardens are beautiful, I didn't get a chance to try the food...(but it looked delicious) the jams and jellies were delicious. There's different kinds of loose tea, sauces, pure local honey and maple syrup. Lots to see and sample!
Beautiful island. See you again in 2020 God willing
Bacon dry egg cold. Good service. Noisy with lot of kids this am.
We vacation in PEI every year and love their products. Great people. Great atmosphere. Don't have any idea what the food is like. Never ate their.
Love this restaurant. Great staff...and greater food. The raspberry cream cheese pie has to be the best ever !!!!!
A great place to spend a few hours with the kids! The gardens, miniature horses, sheep, magical forest, herb gardens, etc. are free to roam around for as long as you like. The butterfly house is about $10 pp and the restaurant is beautiful and has high quality food.
Discovered the PEI Preserve Company online and ordered a few items. The attention to detail and the great service have made me want to visit this shop in person in the future.

Extremely rude , excellent jams and jellys, but not a plesent experience. They Were not accomidateing, or enjoyed answering any questions. Kept going on about a bus coming ( at 6pm highly doubtful) and couldn't be bothered by the other customers in the store.
Awesome food and service!
Best breakfast I have had in a while. Preserves were excellent. It was busy when we arrived so were told there was a 30 minute wait. There was so much to see in the boutique and on the grounds that the wait flew by. Will definitely go again.
Don't like the food and it's a little pricy for the quality
Somewhat pricey and touristy but they have the best orange marmalade I have ever tasted. The preserve selection is HUGE and they are all good.
The place was surrounded by beautiful gardens and paths down to the river. It was great photo opportunity as well as a nice place to relax. The building itself is very cozy, and you can choose from a large and unique variety of jams and jellies (made on site). After some taste testing, we bought the lime, no-sugar strawberry, and very berry cherry jams - they were all very good. There were some cute mugs too, but we didn't buy any. Overall a successful stop that we would recommend for anyone in the area.
(Translated) Extraordinary, friendly staff, exceptional food, the best "seafood chowder" on the island! (Original) Extraordinaire, personnel sympathique, nourriture exceptionnelle, la meilleure "seafood chowder" de l'île !
One of our personal favorite places to go on pei.Great food at reasonable prices. Beautiful gardens to stroll through and a wonderful gift shop with tasting station for preserves.
(Translated) Very very good seasoning for potato, egg, salad and chicken. We have been ordering online since we discovered this product during our stay on Prince Edward Island. Excellent service and fast. (Original) Très très bonne assaisonnement pour patate ,oeuf, salade et poulet. Nous commandons en ligne depuis que nous avons découvert ce produit pendant notre séjour à l'île du Prince Edward. Excellent service et rapide.
Amazing breakfast, had the fritata. Homemade preserves and tea were so tasty. Took a piece of raspberry cheesecake pie to go for later. Gardens are beautiful to walk through. And the lady and the gift shop went above and beyond to find the tea I wanted to take home. I don't remeber her name but she was from BC. He service would would make me want to come back over and over again.
We absolutely love going to this GEM????! It is such a beautiful area! The hospitality, the food, and scenery area FANTASTIC! ???? Bruce ,Shirley, & staff are Top shelf ????⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can't wait to go back! Reservations recommended!
Nice location and staff our good. However food is so-so. Found it way too salty. Popular place and hard to get in. We are not interested in going bacj.
Nothing for young people to slow...
Delicious preserves and baked goods, one of our favorite restaurants featuring local cuisine, a beautifully curated gift shop and whimsical gardens. Plan to spend a few hours here! Looking forward to a picnic in the gardens this summer!
Really bad service We got to the location at 12:30pm and waited about 30 minutes for a table, which was fine with us. We were then seated and got our appetizer right way. We then waited about two hours for our main dishes! The food was good but not for the two hour wait! We left around 3pm. Will not be going back
Great lobster pot pie!
It was fantastic.Food wonderful..service great..entertainment..very good. Came with GLOBUS today at noon.Loved it and highly recommend it
Wonderful flavors abound. Owner very community minded. Great stop.
Delicious preserves! Many tasty free samples- my favourite was the strawberry rhubarb. My boyfriend also really enjoyed the seafood chowder in the restaurant.
(Translated) Great food and friendly service. I ate salmon grill, lobster chowder, haddock, served without any seasoning. The dessert is homemade and surprisingly delicious. Worth going from Charlottetown.
Enjoyed shopping for preserves. Liked sampling the teas and jams. Great for gifts!
Excellent service, excellent food, great story on how it came to be. Would highly recommend. Beautiful Hope gardens to stroll through after.
Lobster to die for
Great selection of items, preserves, food. Beautiful garden and all of it dedicated to a wonderful cause.
Great view....and looks like great food! But we didn't make a reservation and couldn't get a table for all of my family (if we wanted to wait an hour)...and unfortunately we were already hungry.......but look forward to trying the food out there!! I seen it on the tables and looked yummy!!! Ps.....very friendly and helpful staff!!????????
Always great....best breakfast, beautiful view. Our favorite stop on PEI.
very good brunch
Beautiful!
The restaurant here is something special. The view is incredible, the service is very friendly, and the food (especially the dessert) was perfect.
Lovely gardens & gift shop shame cafe/ Restaurant was closed for the season
Fabulous, consistent food, lovely food and beautiful gifts, including their own homemade jams and jellies.
Delicious food with excellent service. They also sell various food items such as sauces, syrups, and vinegars.
(Translated) Nice shop that sells not only its own products made on site, but also other local products. In addition, we can taste their products for free. (Original) Jolie boutique qui vends non seulement ses propres produits fait sur place, mais aussi d'autres produits locaux. En plus, nous pouvons déguster leur produits gratuitement.
(Translated) Very good place, for meals, excellent service, great staff, superb homemade jams this is a place I recommend (Original) Très bon endroit, pour les repas, service excellent, personnel formidable, confitures maison superbe c'est un endroit que je recommande
Lovely spot! Great Food....
Nice breakfast, brunch. There is a butterfly place nearby. Awesome too.
Very nice atmosphere.
Great finds
Very good spreadable sweets. Almost as good as mom's, but huge selection.
The food and views are both beyond that which words can convey
Not to bad.
We ate at the restaurant here as part of an excursion from a cruise ship. It was the best meal we have had on this trip. The owner is so engaging and gregarious.. he really adds to the experience. After our feast of fresh lobster, we sampled the preserves which were so good I *may* have bought $120 worth. I highly recommend this spot!
This place is great, the view is awesome and the food and the teas are of great quality. Our waiter David was very professionnal and kind. Thumbs up to the service and the food. We also tasted the jelly in the preserve and eveything was good, it’s a must if you go to PEI.
I LOVE this place! The jam and tea are top notch. I come regularly to visit family and always have a list to bring back with me. You may say jam is jam until you try Island Perserve jam.
Impressive service! I was floored to receive my package from the PEI Preserve Company, after just placing my order a couple of days ago. Not only was delivery fast, the products I ordered were packaged carefully and topped off with a lovely handwritten notecard thanking me for my order. Such a nice personal touch, indicative of the friendliness of the Maritimes! I have loved everything I’ve sampled and purchased from the PEI Preserve Company, but my hands down favourite is the rhubarb relish. I now have 3 bottles which I cannot wait to get into! I highly recommend this very special shop to visit in person, or to order from online!
Lots of delicious preserves to choose from, we have several to enjoy at home. The tasting table is terrific, that way there is no risk to your purchase. Horseradish & Garlic spread for the next roast beef
Great place to find affordable gifts and a bite to eat! The cheery atmosphere gives a pleasant enjoyment with a wonderful view!
I went here yesterday sept.10th with a tour bus guide through holland america for a lobster dinner and i must say dissapointed-i am not a food critic and never leave reviews however when i was cleaning a whole lobster for the first time and twisting as they stated to do the tail fell on the floor-well thats my fault but all food establishments i have been to in the past would have immediately replaced the meal no problem but not here. two servers and the bus driver knew about it and no on offered to help me out so my dinner was over at that point. one waitress with a shaved haircut said to another patron dont do what he just did and i told another older waitress and no help. very embarrassed i went to the porch to wait for the bus to leave and told the owner and no offer for another lobster just a slice of pie . i dont eat sugar and at this establishment i dont eat lobster either. the guide thought it was funny and heard him telling the bus driver-real tacky and rude.couldnt wait for this tour to be over. don't take this tour called anne of green gables -take a taxi to green gables and find some place else to eat.yes they feed alot of quanity of people here but not quality.
What a nice place to eat breakfast! The menu options are limited, but everything was delicious. The ham and the coffee were especially delicious. The decor and setting are lovely. The server was fast, accurate, helpful and what an awesome personality!! Be sure to visit the store! So many beautiful, delicious and lovely smelling things. Love the sea buckthorn and honey body cream.
Such a beautiful place. Restaurant and gift shop are great options to pick when being in PEI. We went for breadas but we’re late and still enjoyed lunch so much. Fresh ingredients.
Very good food and service.
Dinner room has so much details, the place is awesome! Had gluten free options for lunch and an excellent service from Hannah. Then had a rainy stroll in the gardens which where nonetheless beautiful. Excellent time well spent
Nice jam. I like Wild Blueberry with Raspberry and Raspberry with Champagne.
We heard so much about this restaurant so we got there early just to beat the buses. I found the service slow. Our waitress was pathetic, not friendly at all and our food was cold. Not worth the drive.
