Great selection of island seafood and other traditional foods (fries with the works!?). You have the option to eat in and enjoy the view of the water as well as enjoy some PEI craft beer or you can opt for the takeout option.

Fresh fresh mussels....The most amazing lobster burger ever! The portions were large and the prices reasonable. Ashlynn our server was so very friendly. We're on the island for another 8 days. I am sure we'll be back again!

What’s it like to suddenly become invisible? Well, let me tell you about how humiliating it is, and how the other guests added injury to insult. We had eaten here previously, and had walked away with a positive impression. Naturally, when the opportunity presented itself, we were happy to repeat the experience, and chose to order a take away meal. Entertaining the foyer, there was a person ahead of us waiting, so we chose to look at the menu. At the time of our arrival, the restaurant was largely empty. A server passed by on the way to the kitchen, and didn’t seem bothered that three people were standing in the foyer. She then passed us on her way back to the dining room without a word. Moments later, the server returned, and asked the person ahead of us if she needed assistance, and the person replied that she was just looking at the menu. The sever then walked away, ignoring us. Moments later, the person who was ahead of us chose to leave. Seconds later, a couple entered, and the server then passed all of us again without a word. A few minutes later, the sever returned to the foyer, and asked the couple if they’d like to be seated. The male ignored the queue, but the female pointed us out to the server, and said that we were there before them. I told the couple that we were ordering takeout, and not to worry about the queue. An elderly couple then entered foyer, and the same scenario played out all over again. This time a different server appeared, and asked the couple if they’d like a table. The male told the server that they were there for takeout, and the server immediately ushered them into the dining room to place their order. The couple were perfectly content to jump the queue, and after 15 minutes of being completely ignored by all the staff, we left, and had dinner at the Blue Muscle Cafe...where they managed to not ignore us most successfully. In a perfect world, I’d write this one off, if not for the fact that both servers saw us on their multiple trips back and forth to the kitchen and dining room, and that it would have been obvious who had been waiting there the longest. I’m 55, and I’ve received better service from teenagers behind the counter at McDonalds.

We had the mozza stick burger and fries with the works. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. You can bring your puppy with you and sit on two small tables out front. The mozza burger was awesome so was the Reese cheesecake!

We loved this place….I mean loved!!!! We stopped for lunch. Great service and the food was amazing. Freshest muscles ever and crazy delicious burger. Great scenery. You know when you have a beer where the glass is frosted and there are little icicles forming inside? This was it. Beautiful views. Would go back and will this weekend.

This is a place to avoid if you have a family. Our waiter was a real sweetheart and very attentive. The food was fine - nothing special. I visited with my mother, wife, and two kids (3 and 1). During our meal, the one year old started crying for about 2 minutes. The only other customers in the dining room also had young children and mentioned to us that his crying was no problem. Meanwhile the owner came to our table and invited my wife to take the child outside because he was “disturbing things.” This turned a stressful situation into a tearful one. There is absolutely nothing special about this place, and the owner obviously hates children. If you’re in the area and a party of adults, I wouldn’t actively avoid it. Meanwhile places this good are a dime a dozen here, and most are very accommodating to families. Also note: they have no high chairs or booster seats. Look, it’s fine if you don’t want children at your restaurant. But then don’t maintain a casual-bordering-on-shoddy atmosphere and carry a children’s menu. Blue Mussel Cafe up the road (with far better food by the way) doesn’t offer a children’s menu at dinner. Guess where I don’t take my kids for dinner?

I had the half and half. Best deep fried haddock I've ever had. Scallops were just as good and the homemade fries were cooked perfectly. Service and atmosphere was excellent as well. Nice outdoor deck.

What can I say? Fantastic location right on the water's edge. Great pub food. Mussels were great as were the fish and chips (see pics). Great service too. A wonderful fish shack. And watching ospreys nesting and feeding right outside was an added bonus.

This is the best fish and chip place in all of PEI they just know how to do it right. The Blue Mussel might have fairer cuisine but the Captains Cove has food, real food, especially for the seafood lover. You will not regret eating here.

We just has a few appetizers and drinks and they were all pretty good aside from the appetizer Ceasar salad we ordered that used serving size to try to make up for its mediocrity. Great fries. Fish looked good but we didn't order any. Slow service but typical for the area.

A great experience. Our waitress was so bubbly and fun to have serve us. The owner was there and came out as we were leaving to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. I call it a hidden gem of a place . Highly recommend it but they were closing for the season tonight.

This is a gem on the water. It is a quiet little eat in or take out. It has a nice patio as long as the weather is cooperating. Great view of the water (Bay) and the oyster trap lines from any seat. Thank you for the wonderful supper. Prices are quite reasonable.

Lovely outdoor patio seating! The fish was bad, it was worse than frozen boxed fish. They ran out of plates and served in plastic baskets. Forgot about our sides! But the staff were lovely!

If you have more than 6 people in your party and want to sit together don’t bother stopping here. We had 4 adults and 3 kids (7 people). And we were told we could not have The table Of 6 that was a available. I asked when would a table be ready and the server rudely said we don’t sit tables larger than 6. The restaurant was pretty empty and I am glad they turned us away, Because 15 minutes down the road there is a True EastCoast Seafood place called Richard’s. It is worth the extra drive. Amazing food and hospitality. Even with the long line the server was cheerful and helpful. Total recommend Richards take out.

Located in an area with a total abundance of fresh seafood of all kinds and types, it was very disappointing to be served a fried soft clam dinner using clams that had to have been frozen for at least 6 months. People taking orders did not know the difference between a bar clam and a soft clam. Unfortunately, the manager left the premises while I was ordering. Not acceptable.

Overall, a very enjoyable place to stop for a lunch, especially after taking a stroll on the beach at the nearby National Park. The service was great, and the menu has quite some choices. We opted for a chowder and a seafood pasta. The chowder was very good although I would've preferred a bit less potatoes in it, but nonetheless. As for the pasta... The seafood in it was amazing: deliciously spiced and perfectly cooked. The pasta and the sause, though, were so bland that we've just left it aside and finished the seafood with the bread that came with it. I realize this is not an Italian place, and I came there specifically for the seafood - which I was more than happy about - so I don't really mind this shortcoming. Still, something that may be improved. Oh, and the windows were barely translucent, which is a shame, really, because watching the shore could've been a major boon to upgrade the experience. Regardless of the criticism, we really loved this place, and will be happy to stop by again if we happen to be in the area.

Great food, and great service. I had fish and chips. Probably the nicest fish I've had in a long time. My grand son had a burger and fries. He couldn't finish the fries as the burger was so big. Oh. And the beer was cold too. Try the blueberry ale.

I took my 2 kids there for supper and it was SOOOOO delicious. I had fish and chips and I was sure I would need to be carried out from being so full. Hand cut fries and just the right amount of batter. Kids finished there meals as well. Which is Rare!! Also you cannot beat the view !!! Would 100% percent recommend for any family, couple date, or just yourself. You will not be disappointed

Great meal. Our party ordered fish and chips, and a lobster rolls, and we all enjoyed the food. Fair price, speedy takeout, can't comment on the dining room as we simply picked up quickly and brought back to our cottage to eat. Thank you!

We have adopted the Captains Cove as our “go to” on the North shore. The location is perfect. Beautiful water-side sights and sounds. The staff are like family. Friendly and extremely welcoming. Always a friendly chuckle or two. We have had both beef and fish, but much more fish. Both were delicious but the fish is the reason we keep coming back. I had the hot hamburger, that would have brought me back as well! Their fries are simply the best hand-cut fries on the Island, no kidding! Tonight we went with a plan to get to desert - we are usually full by their ample quantities. Tonight, thanks to the constant ant urging of a Nova Scotian, we tried the snickers cheese cake. It was tremendous. So, we would recommend this place to anyone.
