Lovely cafe just off the highway looking toward the sea with a great sized outdoor patio. They have alternative milk options and some vegan food options too. Lovely staff and great atmosphere. Good for remote work with power plugs easily accessible.

If your looking for healthy food made with love, go here. I've been here at least 4 times and the consistency and care taken is awesome. The burgers are some of the best in town and their frappuccinos are 5 star. Cant go wrong with the Java Shack. #visitvanisle

One of the best places to eat in all Campbell River. So good in fact it's often too busy, so make time if you plan to go here at a busy time of day. The sandwiches are perfect, the coffee is fresh. The Coffee News is to the right side of where you order. So grab one and put it back. haha

After living in CR for 3 years, I've finally visited the Java Shack. They have an appetizing food menu but for this trip I only ordered a couple iced drinks, which tasted great. They have a very friendly staff and the indoor and outdoor environment is cozy & inviting. I'll be back :-)

Moved here from Vancouver and what I miss most is good quality food. Java Shack has by far the best sandwiches I have had in Campbell River, and the staff is also great. Keep up the good work guys!

Looks very good but unfortunately, we came in an "In-betweek" where there was no food for ~1 hour. The breakfast was before 10h30 according to their website but at 10h20 it was over.

Stopped in for a muffin and coffee. Muffin was pretty good. However my to go coffee was full of coffee grounds which is really off-putting and unfortunate. It's a huge pet peeve of mine when a coffee shop doesn't have the diligence in putting the grinds in the filter properly.

Best burger in town! Not your normal burger but so good! Make sure you get there before noon if you don't want to wait too long for the burger. Coffee, sandwiches, and salads are all great too!

Very beautiful little place right in front of the water. I ordered the hot chocolate and if was probably one of the best ones I've been had. From high tables to comfy couches, great place to stop by for a quick drink!

Conveniently located near the Coast Discovery hotel. I arrived at 7 am and the bagel with cream cheese and coffee I ordered was very good. Very friendly staff. The lunch menu looked delicious, I hope I have the chance to visit it again sometime.

Very unfortunate experience, waited 40minutes to have my food come out wrong and missing a meal entirely. Was not offered to have my meal remade and I don’t appreciate how I was spoken to when I brought up to issue. Won’t be back. Stay away.

Call in if your in a hurry! This place is busy, for a great reason. Coffee is excellent and the food is better then anything I have had for a long time. Prices are competitive with the market. Presentation was incredible. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Never been more happy with my breakfast!

Good food if you don't mind the kitchen staff using the F-word every second word. "F-this", "F-that", "every F-ing time..." and more. There were children well within earshot, it was vulgar and offensive. The prosciutto was too think and difficult to bite through, lessening the enjoyment of my meal. Serving staff were exceptional though, very polite and warm. I will likely only go back for coffee-to-go now though.

I stopped by to grab some soup & sandwiches because my "go to" place was closed, I am so glad it was closed and I got to try 2 unreal sandwiches & this delicious Turkey chili soup. I got a chicken sandwich which was to die for, also got some sort of pulled pork burger sandwich. It took 10 minutes at the most, packaging was great & the food was unreal. I will be back!!!! Thank you!

Yummm! Big sandwichs jam packed in between fresh sourdough bread. Fresh cookies and good coffee. They had very unique but tasty treats like mini eggs in a chocolate cookie or this healthy ten seed cookie. Pretty busy place.

The folks at Java Shack make a sandwich you literally can't beat. I live on one of the nearby islands and look forward to a visit with every trip to town. Their side salads are a refreshing take on the classic, but all too familiar garden salad, with fresh greens and tasty toppings!

Delicious! My husband had I shared the eggs polleny (spell?) and the breakfast wrap. Both were amazing. The restaurant was clean and ecclectic. We had a racecar for a table number, ha. The view was great. Would eat here again.

I absolutely love this place and make a point of going every time I am in town. Unfortunately when I came last they closed the kitchen early and I wasn't able to get food from my favorite sandwich place in town even though I had planned a special trip out strategically so that I could enjoy a meal here. Had I known they closed the kitchen early on certain days I would have planned accordingly. I would normally give this place 5 stars, but this was a bit of a bummer with the lack of communication.

If you haven’t eaten here, you’re seriously missing out. Family-owned, amazing lunch and breakfast, sweet homemade treats and killer coffee. The owners are generous, kind and pillars in the community. The atmosphere is cozy with a great patio for outdoor dining. Would give 10 stars if I could!

Absolutely terrible experience today at The Java Shack. After reading their post on Facebook about their financial struggles during covid, my family and I decided to try them out instead of one of the corporate businesses in town. We got there and ordered drinks for my husband and I before my mom arrived, and I went back to order our breakfasts when she got there. The cashier, Sarah, was rude and not at all accommodating, made a fuss about poaching eggs hard instead of soft, and told me that I couldn’t have a BLT because they didn’t have bread. I paid $48 for the three meals and we proceeded to wait outside on the patio for our food. Fast forward 45 minutes, only two plates come out, my husband asks if a third is coming and the guy says he’ll be right back with it. The cashier that took our order comes out and tells me that she misunderstood when I ordered, and that she had added extra bacon, avocado and cheese onto my husbands bagel (he is allergic to avocado) instead of making a BLT (bagel) with avocado and cheese as I requested. Instead of apologizing and offering to 1. Fix my husbands meal and 2. Make mine right away, she continued on to argue with me and tell me that even though it was her misunderstanding and her fault, that I would have to come up to the till and pay for the new food and then wait for it to be ready. I was starving at this point and my husbands food wasn’t even right. We left extremely unhappy and will not be going back. Here’s a tip for you- if you’re posting online about your lack of customers and how you need community support, maybe put in your best effort to be accommodating and friendly to the people that are coming in and choosing to spend their money in your establishment. After reading the other reviews and asking around town, it doesn’t sound like I am the first person that’s had this kind of experience there.

The Java Shack was reccomended by a local AirBnB host. My wife and I shared the Eggs Polleny and Breakfast wrap. Both were great! The Eggs Polleny is a great choice for anyone who can't decide - would have again. They have a great view of the park and ferry terminal across the street. It was also awesome that they use random toys as table markers - we got a racecar with a simple 8-bit racing game on it (which I played, of course!). As the name implies, they have a variety of coffees - more like a Starbucks than a Tim's. All in all, everything was great and will stop here again.

OK breakfast sandwich but APPALLING SERVICE. Under good conditions they are slow. I was in recently and the server said it would be half an hour wait for a breakfast sandwich, There were 4 other people in the restaurant at the time. I simply asked "why the half hour wait?". She was highly indignant that I even asked. I pointed out the almost total lack of customers whereupon she requested that I leave, which I happily did.

Went for breakfast and was told that a large phone order had just come in, so wait for food would be >45 mins. Maybe the Java Shack should only accept large phone orders a day in advance. That would allow you to be better prepared and not disappoint those people who make an effort to get to your restaurant in person. Just a suggestion.
