32° outside when I spotted a quaint cafe beside the bridge. Craving for a nice salad my stomach commanded that I enter. I'm glad that I listened to my 2nd brain. The place was refreshingly cool, spacious and very clean. Eyeing the wall menu I ordered the mixed greens salad with basil dressing along with a margarita pizza. This quieted my growling friend and put a smile on my face as I devoured the last delicious margarita piece.

This is cafe with a view. Wonderful spot. Cafe latte was just good but the croissant and the chicken caeser wrap was too good. The wrap has bacon in it something I am a fan of and not knowing it would be added I did not specify to remove it, had the ingredients been mentioned I would have chose not to but it was good.

The pizza is pretty good, the crust tastes a little odd on its own, but it's amazingly thin! They have goat cheese which is great for those who can't have cow dairy! Everything is a little pricey though, even the cookies/baking. They do have a great selection of lunch items that vary daily and always have a really amazing feature salad usually with arugula or other greens with fruit and nuts! I've never had anything truly awful here, which is great! Bank on waiting a few minutes if you order a pizza or anything hot!

They have dishware for customers dining in, and a lovely menu selection for brunch and lunch. Fashionable and friendly staff, my only stipulation would be I hope they take the opportunity to add even more plants into the window sills, as the decor is slightly sparse.

All of the staff is super kind, and the pizzas are good. But that's about it, the rest of the food has gone down hill over the years and the prices keep going up. I ordered Mac and cheese not long ago and it was frozen in the middle like it had been microwaved.. not what I was expecting for the price.

Had the wood oven pizza on Tuesday. Waited 25 minutes, asked the server where my pizza was. It wasn't busy, I used to work in a pizza shop and know it takes 7 minutes from start to finish to make and bake a pizza. She went over to the cook and the cook realized she had burnt the pizza. The cook was laughing. Instead of offering any kind of apology for burning the pizza, the server came over and told me the pizza was burnt and the cook was making another one. Once it was done, she brought it over, again, no apology. Now to the food itself, it used to be my favourite wood oven pizza, now it tasted awful and the size of the tomato slices on the pizza was unbelievably large. Just a disaster. Rumor has it the place is under new ownership. Yikes.

So the girl at the counter when I walked in was not wearing the mask on her mouth herself, it was on the chin. I showed her my vaccination proof but she refused to let me dine in as I had no ID proof as it was in the car. Terrific spot for coffee, a meal, or just dessert. And they provided great platters for wedding rehearsal at our home. Full range of quality coffees, love their personal pizzas (the Tuscan for me), specials every day ... and friendly unpretentious staff. And the setting looking out over the river doesn't hurt either!

Ive come here frequently for the past few years, however at my last visit, I found a long hair in my pizza. Unbelievably gross and super disappointed especially how the supervisor handled the situation when I brought it to her attention. I had asked why the individuals who handle food don’t wear hairnets, she said “it’s just Jonathan back there”. Not sure who Jonathan is or what he does, assuming cook? Will not come back again and if there’s any word of Melville’s cafe, I will mention this nasty experience. Anyways, it’s been a slice Melville but never again.

Such a comfortable place for munching and drinking. Spacious seating (booths, stools, and tables). Inexpensive prices. Street parking is 30 minutes. There's nothing quite like drinking coffee next to a river.

This place is a little hidden gem. Great view of the river and nice atmosphere in and out. Tried the chocolate pecan tart and it was fantastic. We also had sandwiches, salad and pastry tray catered at work and it was very well received. Looking forward to trying some pizza on another visit.

A group of amazing people with the biggest hearts to be told they are no longer welcome, when all they have done is created a safe and exciting place to enjoy each other’s company... and for what? To the lady who made this complaint I feel deeply sorry for you. You clearly will never understand respect to another human like every single person in this group does. And to the owners of Melville Cafe I hope this brings light and a new perspective, maybe then in the future you will learn to treat every paying customer with equality. Just had a terrible experience at Melville cafe. I'm an architecture student so I work just above the restaurant. I've been going there for years and I haven't had any problems in the past. But today I was very disappointed when I went in just before they closed to buy a piece of banana bread. They said they closed the machine so I offered to pay in cash. Then the waitress told me no they couldn't do that and told me to get out very rudely and with a lot of attitude. So I said okay, but I'll write a comment card because I felt like I was badly treated. To make matters worse, later this evening I found the comment card ripped up on my desk in studio. This means that not only did they not accept my feedback but they followed me to my desk upstairs (which is a locked area and only meant for architecture students) and waited till I was gone to place it on my desk. I feel very unsafe, frustrated and extremely disappointed. This should be a warning to other architecture students and future costumers.

Urban and trendy cafe, great coffee and treats but the Tuesdays pizza is an exceptional delicacy for an amazing value. Due to thin crust its not the type of pizza that can be eaten the next day. Staff is great and location is ideal. Parking can be a hit or miss.

Had a horrible experience at this restaurant. I used to come here and liked it but boy has it gone downhill. I went in with a friend for pizza and the older guy making our pizzas burnt them. This was an inconvenience but we weren't in a rush so we asked if he could remake them. This simple request caused him to get visibly angry and he was incredibly rude and began swearing under his breath. I know I am not the only person who won't return because of this cook. Do yourself a favour and if you see an older cook with blonde hair working, just go somewhere else.

Dry, over-cooked quiche - salad swimming in dressing and so was the quiche which was on the same plate. Rubbery, dry, burnt pizza - extremely difficult to eat. It's a shame because we went there after the matinee at the Dunfield Theatre and we wanted to support one of their sponsors. Never again will we go there and we and our many friends frequent the theatre and always eat out afterwards. They've lost our business.

Came here recently with my family and I am disgusted to stay the least. Terrible customer service - the girls were lingering on their phones at the front, maintaining side conversation regarding inappropriate topics whilst my five year old son was present. The 'London Fog' I had ordered was poorly made, the pizza I ordered was drenched in tomato sauce and burnt to the point that made me yack! I could not believe the atrocity presented to me at Melville Cafe. I monitored the staff whilst eating and I was appalled. Servers eating food at the front? Not up-keeping cleanliness? Not a friendly environment either. Worst decision to come to Melville Cafe ever. Please stay out.
