Americano better than Starbucks
Great location for an Americano or coffee. A little on the pricey side but the muffins are generously sized and delicious. The staff are always friendly and helpful and welcoming to all members of the community. The windows do have a condensation problem in the winter... I think the location is due for a renovation soon.
Good coffee
I've gone twice now so feel I can write a balanced review. Both times the service was great, so I have no complaints there. That being said, the quality of the items was terrible for the price. The lemon loaf I had the first time was really dry, and it wasn't one of the "day old" items. The second time, my chai latte was undrinkable; it had a terrible aftertaste (like something had gone off). At over $6, I would expect much more. I like supporting local businesses but I can't justify paying Starbucks prices for poor quality. It's a shame as it's the only place on my way to work and I so desperately wanted a morning spot for lattes and treats.
Excellent!
Lovely
They have Waffle Days several times a year ... quite worth it. Their lattes are excellent bug differ according to the server. Great place to hangout and people watch in the summer, but tight quarters during the winter months. Overall a good experience.
Good coffee, great environment
Relaxed and cozy. Nice selection of offerings made on site and good coffee.
Staff was super friendly and cheese scone is amazing
Coffee was fresh as were the baked goods. Tuna melt was delicious as well.
A great little café in downtown Cambridge
Wonderful Canada Day waffles!!!
Great coffee, food food, friendly staff.
Very nice staff and quick service during lunch rush. As a local, I love coming by for the coffee and a sandwich to enjoy and relax in Queens Square. Always a summer lunch tradition too.
Slow service. Microwave quiche, mushy crust, great ingredients. Sweet things looked good. No time left to try them.
Best mtl bagels you'll ever have
Best coffee in cambridge. Bytown coffee is delicious!
Friendly staff, delicious food, good atmosphere :)
I love grand cafe. The staff is great, the drinks are amazing, and the muffins, cookies, bagels, etc are excellent. Always clean and a nice little spot. Did you know, there's been several movies shot in and outside of this cafe? Pretty awesome if you ask me. Thanks to the staff and owners for all you do.
Congratulations on 15 years! Today's art and photos are great. Thanks for sharing. JC
This is a lovely cafe with insanely good selection, great coffee and tea and yummy baked goods that are fresh and not terribly sweet. We love coming here on weekends.
A little disappointed that they use Dempsters bread/bagels considering all of the great local bakeries they could partner with - makes it hard to justify paying $3 for a bagel. I did see that they have passion tea lemonade which I'm excited to try. The donuts are decent but I had a pumpkin muffin there that was weirdly rubbery, hopefully just a bad batch.
Did not enjoy the chai (taste was not that good)or the lemon poppy seed loaf(was not moist). For the price paid ...not worth it. Sorry.
Nice little quaint cafe. Friendly staff, good food and atmosphere
This place is so nostalgic for me! I've been coming here since I was a baby and I remember always sharing the pecan carrot cake with my mom(I think that's what its called). Its such a pleasant environment and the drinks and food are great as well.
Great place to enjoy downtown Cambridge. Highly recommend.
A nice day in December. Sipping a coffee on an outdoor deck.
Good coffee and some vegan as well as gluten free baked goods.
Amazing service and coffee ????
We have started frequenting this coffee shop on weekends. Good brew, descent food menu, and friendly staff help differentiate this coffee shop from others in the area.
Great little cafe in the heart of Galt, Cambridge. Never had a bad experience here. Especially nice to see it appear, from time to time, in The Handmaids Tale.
Great place for a coffee and something to eat. Great service.
Just popped in
Best chocolate chip muffins in town. Good size, consistency and chocolate chip content. Staff is friendly and decor is updated regularly with local artists' works.
This place is like an institution. I grew up with the Grand and my parents love it because its so chill.
Great coffee, gorgeous setting in beautiful downtown Galt, & the BEST brownies on the PLANET!!! (These photos show the gorgeous old stonework, with berries ... wild grapes??? ... on the wall).
Love love love this place! The staff is so friendly and the food is fabulous!
I had the iced coffee and it was very good. Nice little spot for a coffee!
Friendly staff, great baked goods and chai :)
Very friendly, good selection of drinks, try turmeric latte
Great place for coffee in Galt. The baked goods are really good and made in store. This shop is often used in movies like The Handmaid's Tale. We really like this shop. In the summer we will often have mocha ice coffee.
Scene in The Handmaid's Tale.
Good coffee. Relaxing place to talk with friends. Cool local artwork on display. And if you watch The Handmaid's Tale television show, you might recognize it as a filming location...
Great staff and really good coffee. Everything is baked in house which makes all the difference in the world.
sweet place to go
Great coffee. Plus on long weekend mondays special Belgian waffles
Really cute place, with a great assortment of lunches and treats to have with your coffee. Located on one of the nicest squares in Galt, so bring your people watching with you as well.
Just what you need, as you wish. Plus a lovely selection of looseleaf teas
Cozy coffee shop in older building in downtown historic Galt
Good coffee, yummy treats
What a lovely cafe located in the heart of Cambridge right by the water. Great service and wonderful, cozy environment.
Great coffee! And always fresh baked goods. Home made quiche, sandwiches....
Great food and nice service is what you get when going to the Grand Cafe.
Nice quaint Cafe with friendly staff in historical downtown Galt.
Always fresh, delicious and friendly.
Really cool little cafe. Food is good and staff are friendly
Had a very pleasant experience today. Baristas were very pleasant and the iced matcha tea was delicious and refreshing. Highly recommend.
Use to come here all the time as the coffee was decent and reasonably priced... but lately the coffee is lacking and WAY over priced.
(Translated) Delicious Chai latte. (Original) Delicious Chai latte.
Cute little shop downtown Galt. Fairly priced cappuccinos plus on holidays they have homemade fruit waffles! The best waffles around hands down :)
Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever!
Great coffee and treats
Not as much food selection as i thought
Lots of choices. Great coffee.
I would be absolutely heartbroken if Grand Café ever closed because I have so many great memories there for years! Studying, sketching, hanging out, friend reunions, conversations with strangers, running past before work… I just can’t imagine Galt without it. I always order a latté or a cold drink in the summer. Baked goods are delicious and their recent renovations are just gorgeous!! I miss the Montréal bagels on weekends and I hope they can bring that back after Covid is over! LOVE YOU, GRAND!
The Mocha wasn’t among the best Mocha I drank. Otherwise great place for hangout! But the service is amazing and would come back to try other stuff.
Love the location of this little cafe, right at the end of the bridge crossing the Grand River and on the little plaza. It give this part of the town a sort of European touch. The staff is very friendly. Nice selection of tea and pastries My favorite spot for teatime after a walk on one of the numerous trails surrounding Cambridge
Great little place! Coffee was fantastic, lots of baked good options, and the staff was so nice. I went for a morning coffee with my grandfather and we had a great time.
Great local coffee stop! Very nice staff and the coffee is always great!
Closing at 3pm?? Such a great location but most people who work during the day can't enjoy the place.
Great café. Service was extremely friendly and made a very good london fog and Americano.
Beautiful views and fast friendly service.
Really yummy with great vegan options! got the pumpkin muffin and it wasn’t dry! (typical of vegan baked goods) highly recommend!!!!
Great service, great product, nice little cafe.
Patio is a nice touch, I do hope you get to keep it.
Meh. Ok but nothing really special. Nice location and baked items were good but didnt find that the cafe very good vibe. Fruit flies inside the day we were there drove us crazy. Probably will go somewhere else next time in Cambridge
Good location, friendly staff. Quiche and Salad for lunch was tasty and a decent coffee too boot.
Best cappucino in cambridge
The coffee is great and plentiful, the staff pleasant and friendly, the WiFi is good and free. What more could you want?! :)
I really like this place. Food is good. The only thing I didn't like was the cold air coming in every time the door opened.
I'm finally getting around to writing this review. Although the coffee is ok, the baked goods are good and the atmosphere is alright.... I need to make it known that the owner, actually destroyed my stepdaughter's one chance to work at Google, as a barrista, in downtown Kitchener. My stepdaughter was a long-time employee (twice) for Grand Cafe. She was very much liked by her coworkers and customers. The owner received a call from Google because they were a reference for my stepdaughter. They basically went against good morals and possibly against labour laws by telling Google about missing a few days work due to mental illness. There was full communication with the owners during those few days of her missing work. I am still considering whether or not to pursue this legally.
Great! Predictable decent food. Best brownies. They are now serving BridgeHead coffee, roasted in Ottawa, good value for great coffee! AND the staff is pretty darn great!
A nice little café with nice decor and both indoor and outdoor seating. I like how environmentally conscious they seem. Only marks against them is that they aren't completely accessible; their doors aren't automatic and there is a bit of a bump in the threshold of the door.
Good food and coffee, worth a visit in a historical part of town, worth a visit.
Great location, coffee, food and service. Bagels, donuts and muffins only.
One of the best Americanos in Cambridge.
Lit muffins
Awesome place! Great coffee. And I met Elisabeth Moss here when they were filming Handmaids, so that’s cool!
Lovely little riverside gem in downtown Galt. Good quality in house baked goods with occasional vegan options. Environmentally conscious. Comfortable and clean inside.
Love all the vegan options! It's so hard to find good cafes with great vegan snacks
Great lattes and lovely baked goods. Friendly staff
Coffee was good and the art was a beautiful addition.
Their baked goods are amazing!
Since the day of opening I have been a fan of the Grand Cafe. I call it my community coffee gathering place, every Saturday when in town we visit after the Farmer's Market. It's clean, freshly baked goodies, friendly staff and well located. There are now a number of other coffee shops in town, but this is my favourite for everything not just the coffee.
Great spot to relax with friends. They didn't have any decafe brewed which was unfortunate, so I had a regular coffee instead. Coffee was delicious Also had a muffin but it was very dry.
I went here for the first time and I had a good experience with the service I got from the baristas, but I was unsatisfied with my order. I order a bagel with cream cheese and I ended up having to wait 20 minutes for it. I also ordered an iced coffee with almond milk and as soon as I stirred my iced coffee, the almond milk it in turned chunky so I ended up throwing my coffee out. I paid $9 for both of these things and I wasn’t satisfied with either of them. The bags was good, but it wasn’t worth the 20 minutes I waited for it. I will not be going to this place again because I was disappointed, as I heard very good things about this place and it was sub par for me. The servers were very friendly though!
Extremely friendly. Food and drinks are great
This place is really great! I go here every Saturday with my family and enjoy breakfast... I highly recommend it!
Tiny cafeteria with some snacks.
Wonderful spot for coffee and baked goods in Galt. Kind of challenging entrance for a stroller/wheelchair/or walker however.
Great location to grab a bite to eat. The butter tarts were fantastic. The staff is very good.
Definitely a lovely little place to get a coffee & treat.
Nice little cozy cafe near the river. The lattes here are very good, and the brownies are delicious. Don't be afraid to check this place out and relax there with a friend.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Used to love this place. But there's this new guy working there that always tells us some of our favourite drinks aren't available in this weather. Yet if he's not there the other staff happily makes it for us.
Grand place.
Best brownies in town! The lemon poppyseed loaf and the various gluten free options are great too.
I went in with my two young neices to buy hot chocolate. They wouldn't have been able to finish a small between the two of them, so I asked for one. The barista asked if I'd like a child friendly hot chocolate, meaning it wouldn't be as hot (and we had the choice of adding whipped cream and marshmellows). She then offered to pour me the hot chocolate into two cups! Talk about great service:) Lovely ambiance in the cafe too! My neices love going to the library so this will be a regular place to stop for a treat. One of them loved the hot chocolate too btw. The other isn't big on chocolate (didn't know such people existed) so she just had a sip.
Coffee isnt to good or hot, if you need something quick maybe stop in
Great coffee, friendly staff.
Gorgeous coffee and great food. Staff are wonderful and I love going here to have a coffee and read a book.
Good coffee and snacks, often crowded, can be a bit of a wait and they sometimes run out of muffins etc.
my goto coffee place in cambridge. the coffee and pastries are always great and the staff are very friendly.
Amazing staff, nice seating area and the bakery items are amazing
Excellent customer service at here! Thank you for the amazing support!
Best Americano in town.
Visited this place for the first time. Very friendly barista behind a counter suggested a nice cool drink for my friend and I. Went back twice to get the same drink.
Great coffee, good vibes, nice artwork. Always busy
Grest little place coffee good smell of fresh baking and a whole lot of friendliness
Real nice place to come for a quiet coffee
Love the coffee. Baked goods are delicious too.
Fantastic little place. Way better than Franchise places.
Good food, beautiful view of the church.
Great location!
(Translated) The boss is very enthusiastic, the desserts in the store are handmade, and the coffee is very authentic. (Original) 老板很热心,店里的甜点都是纯手工制作,咖啡也很地道。
One of my favourite places in Cambridge.
Great Coffee Great Staff
Nice place by the fountain to enjoy coffee and a treat
Great service and friendly people
Great place for coffee, and catching up with friends.
Closed for 3 months due to covid show up 10 minutes before they open for the man in there to be so rude I can't comprehend go anywhere but this place many restaurants around the area
Went for Canada Day waffles, they were absolutely delicious! Their coffee is always perfect. Patio is a wonderful addition, I hope the city allows it to be a permanent fixture
Lovely staff but the muffin was shockingly stale and basically inedible.
Love going down for breakfast waffles on a holiday Monday.
Cozy, not too hot or cold, great vegan loaf
I had a muffin and coffee. Muffin was excellent. Pricey. Coffee is strong.
The vibe here was so good! The first good sign was all of the groups of people sitting outside on the little patio having a coffee and chatting. The menu here was SO GOOD! Perfect options for a larger breakfast or lunch or just a smaller pastry or bagel to go with your coffee. For beverages, they had everything you could think of, plus they had dairy free milk options. My drink was delicious and my bagel was good (they forgot to toast it but that's just a simple mistake)! There was tons of comfy seating between the cafe tables, the taller tables with bar stools, and the couches in the back. Suh a great find while in Cambridge for work, highly reccomend!
Great customer service very knowledgeable and helpful.
Best local cafe around in Cambridge. Very great service. The muffins are delicious!
Tuna salad sandwich is great. They have the best chai tea latte
Not a large place but super cozy with really great vibes. My oat milk latte was made just right and the vegan chai bars are to die for! This seems to be one of the few if not only places around that actually bakes everything in house. They have every kind of muffin you could possibly want and it’s worth noting that they always have a few awesome vegan baked options available. Definitely worth the visit if you’re considering stopping by! I will definitely be making this a regular spot.
Grate place by the Grand River. Good muffins and coffee. Nice atmosphere! I would definitely recommend it!
So let's start from the top. They make a lot in store; the staff is above par to be making things from scratch at a small local shop. Next, it's cute. They have a nice patio in the summer, indoor all year round. It's a bit small, but that's ok cause Camrbridge is expensive af. The people who work their rock, and it's mostly cause they try. And there's nothing more to appreciate than some honest effort. Prices are reasonable. The business isn't tryna steal your money with the 2.80 coffee; sometimes it's gotta be like that for prosperity. I go here to support IDEA that this business represents. Oh you want more local food options that make things in house with friendly staff that live in the area and have a reasonable price? GO HERE.
Customer service was great, staff brought drinks right to our table! I love how environmentally responsible this cafe is! The location is very cute, steps from the grand river, and a nice view of Queens square from the window seats. Inside was clean and well taken care of. It was my second time there, and there will be many more !
friendly staff nice and cozy location but the price was not worth the quality might give them another chance based on the reviews of there baked goods but i won't be the cider of latte again
Main complaint - THE MUSIC!!!! What is 'loving every minute of it' and such other obnoxious rock pop tunes doing in a cafe?!? Have they been to other cafes? Jazz, classical, or easy listening music of some kind is the standard....for a reason! People want instrumental music that is conducive to conversation and reading....not rock n roll anthems from a bygone era! I recall being in there before and hearing similar music... THAT SAID......I love the place otherwise. ...Apart from high prices for sandwiches and bagels (although I do see the need to make profit for a small business) but the fact it is all fresh is a big plus! The coffee is excellent, muffins and loafs delicious, but again overpriced.....I saw a woman order a $40 carrot cake....and her jaw dropped at the price....even $25-30 is much more reasonable...difficult to compete with high prices....lower prices would increase business and thus ought to work out to actually more profit.... I hope someone from the Grand Cafe reads this review.... Its VERY CLOSE to being the one of the best cafes in Galt downtown! It is a very friendly place with friendly staff and welcoming seating and a nice place centrally located....and supporting independent businesses are something I feel many locals prefer to do.
Worst brewed coffee I have ever had in my life. Not hot, not fresh, and very sour. Taste like drinking water used to clean the coffe pot. Will never buy coffee there.
Sloppiest sandwich I've ever seen...don't order when the girl with pink hair, freckles and glasses is working.
Love their vegan selections! Coffee also is fantastic
Such a nice space that evokes creativity. Would pop in to do homework sometimes (: love their London Fog Latte!
Friendly staff. Really fresh baked goods with something for everyone, they even had some vegan choices.
I was there in January with friends and there were fruit flies flying around our table. Most disturbing. I was there late summer with another friend and fruit flies were flying around the table at that time. With all the other clean coffee shops around I will not return there. Also their chairs are very beat-up looking, place needs improvement.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Loved it
