The interior has an amazing industrial design and warm, hippie feel to it but I didn’t like their hot chocolate and americano. Too watery. I’ve been to other Phil & Sebastian coffee shops bit it wasn’t like that. Perhaps their machine needs a proper calibration. Just sayin.

Simple menu with simply great coffee. Soy milk available. They'll split the larger size into two mugs for you if you want save on the paper cups. Large banquet tables for groups. A tad noisy from the charcut and sidewalk citizens bakery if you're planning to work here without noise cancelling headphones.

The Phil & Sebastian location at the Simmon’s building is my favourite location for a coffee or hot cocoa in the city. The Simmon’s building can be a bit hectic on the weekends though so best to go weekdays instead. Seating is large shared tables so the space is great for small group meetings or studying. Also they are right next door to Sidewalk Citizen so it’s easy to get an amazing pastry!

By far the best coffee we have found in Canada so far. We're Australian so we are used to real beans being used and put through a coffee machine (like an Americano). Everywhere else we have been has had really overroasted beans and a really bitter flavour due to wrong extraction technique. I understand this is because canadians mostly have filter coffee. However, it was such a relief to be able to get a good Australian style coffee in Calgary.

I heard great things about Phil and Sebastian so a few friends and I had to try it out! The atmosphere is amazing and nonetheless the coffee is spectacular. We tried a latte, cappuccino and a cortado and confidently say it was the best we'v ever tasted. Instagram worthy too! The true star of the night was our barista Daniel! He told us all about the coffee and of course that latte art am I right? My friends and I will be back!

I love their coffee. I usually get their latte and so far it has been consistent regardless the location. If Starbucks coffee is consistent because the beans are always burnt, these guys roast their beans well and taste has not been compromised, at least till now

I've worked plenty in service and I give her a 2/10 for service. Seemed more interested in cleaning the counter than taking my order. It's nice to have something along the Bow River Pathway in East Village! Depending on the construction in the area, you might have to access them from the river side entrance. The coffee is up to the usual P&S standards, and while there is some seating inside, it's so close to the pathways and parks that you don't need to stick around. Might be a bit harder to find parking nearby for a car, but there's plenty of room at the bike racks!

This was definitely a neat spot and I have always been fan of Phil & Sebastian's coffee. They take the time to properly prepare there espresso and any espresso drinks. I will have to say however that the staff never seems too excited or too happy. I don't know if it's a pretense thing or something else but I would like to see the attitudes change slightly.

I ordered my coffee from Sidewalk Citizen, they didn't tell me I had to collect from Phil and Sebastian and so my coffee wasn't warm when I found out I had to go here to collect it. However I don't hold that against this coffee shop. The server when I got to the coffee shop was more interested in talking to their friend though and the coffee itself wasn't good. It was so bad myself and my girlfriend threw it away.

A place of solace during rainy days and snowey evenings, Phil and Sebastian serves as a hearth for couples, dates, co-workers and the like with their wide tables and array of seats. Their coffee, per usual is always brewed well, and while I'm not too fond of their pastry selection, their coffee, specialties, and teas are all that you need to make your day a little more vibrant.

The decor of the cafe was very nice. When we walked in however, we felt very uncomfortable. Everyone in the cafe at the time was Caucasian, and once we entered everyone just stopped and stared. We then proceeded to wait for the barista who was cleaning. Instead of taking our order she smiled nicely and walked away. In such a diverse city like Calgary I usually don’t feeled singled out for my appearance. Me and my friend felt so uncomfortable that we ended up leaving. I hope no one has to experience the feeling of uncomfort the way I did. Maybe I am being over sensitive but I thought I should share my experience.

High quality tasty single origin self roasted espresso. Good work! Plus the place is a multi-functional building with bakery, restaurant and coffee bar. You get as well a nice walk along the Bow River, a nice playground for kids close by and next to the St Patricks Island, probably the most pretty spot of the city in my sense.

The coffee is fantastic from Phil and Sebastian. The coffee shop part (located near the south entrance of the building) has a good selection of seating/tables and places to work. The historical Simmons building also has a very cool charm to it - definitely worth a stop in.

Wifi is terrible!!! I use to LOVE visiting P&S in the Simmons Building, but all three open Wifi networks are so crappy that I avoid going there. I live across the street and actually get in my car and drive across the city to visit coffee shops with better wifi than to struggle with the Wifi here :(

Our Barista ETSI ? was very friendly and helpful. I am also a photographer and following the protocol or inquiring the place before taking pictures I asked one of the baristas if its okay to take few shots. She said yes , but later we were interrupted by a tall dude on the restaurant side saying "sorry guys photography is not allowed". I am definitely not mad at their response but they need to be on same page when it comes to policies like such. I’ll always buy their coffee for home use and I think they make fantastic macchiatos and pour-overs, but it seems that almost every time I come here the staff are annoyed and impatient. When they’re understaffed they don’t make anything but drip coffees apparently, which can happen, of course, but overall, I’m not getting the best vibe here and I really want to give it a better rating, because those coffees are so good.

Very best coffee in the downtown Calgary area. Every drip or expresso coffee I have had from this location is near perfectly extracted. They pay very close attention to all of the brew parameters, and also use freshly roaster coffee. Have tried others including Russo, Monogram, Analog, Yo Adrienne, Second Cup, and others, but the Simmons building Phil and Sebastian is by far the best and most consistent coffee that I have found!

Exceptional lattes produced with eerie consistency from the capable baristas. Having a latte in the morning or at the end of a busy day just makes me appreciate life. An added bonus to this branch is the decor that oozes warmth and having a great bakery in the same building is just icing on top. They roast their own beans and provide a fresh roast if you'd like to make it at home. A lot of people think they have tasted good lattes/espressos *cough*Montreal*cough* but until you try this, you haven't tasted a proper latte. The "best" latte in Montreal -Picolo- uses P&S beans and they create a good latte but not a great one like these guys.

Nice little coffee shop along the pathway system on the east end of Downtown. Coffee is good but they have limited options for children or non-coffee drinkers AND there isn't much indoor seating available if you're looking for a place to warmup and visit before continuing with your walk etc. Service is friendly and reasonably quick which is nice as well!

This is my favourite cafe in the city as it makes the best Americano I've had in Calgary. The baristas are friendly and they know their stuff - if you are a bit more adventurous than I am with your choice of caffeine, you should definitely ask for recommendations from one of the baristas. It's popular so it isn't always easy to find a table, but it's honestly a great setting to lounge at for a long time.

High quality coffee, but amateur customer service. Subscribed for 2 bags (rosters choice and exotic), received 2 identical ones. Tried contacting the company to solve the issue (return one, get an extra one the following shipment, reimbursement....anything) but no one replied back. Canceled subscription. Follow up: Got a reply from the office apologizing for what happened. They canceled the last shipment, refunded me the full amount but nothing on sending 2 bags of the same product.

Nice spot in a historical building, atmosphere is relaxing and I trust that they can make good coffee and related beverages, but I must say that 3 out of 5 times I was really disappointed. I’ve tried many of their creations and either the macchiatos are sour/acidic, which is unpleasant, or the London Fog has no vanilla syrup in it. Those are the little things that contribute to making it a little less exceptional than it should be.
