Excellent coffee and baked goods. A nice quiet atmosphere. Only downside was the smoke from what, I presume, was the roasting beans for part of my visit. My eyes were burning after a while!

Got the latte here and it was pretty good! They didn't have oat milk which I usually get but was able to mix almond and soy milk instead. The staff was really friendly and we had a nice chat while we waited for the coffee.

Great little Café Mexicano food style place.

Baya Rica Cafe deserves a five ⭐ in each and everyway. Such a lovely location off the main drag in Bridgeland in a lovely vintage house perfectly upgraded to be a coffee ????. Staff are wonderful, food and drink excellent at an affordable price. I love to sit outside on their patio with my three Budgies safely in their secure cage. They are most welcome by the staff. Thanks ????.

Stephanie Zimmer

First time here. Really great iced coffee. I will be back :)

Nicole Di Bernardo

Baya cafe is fantastic!! I've been a half dozen times in the last month and have haf consistently friendly, courteous, caring service. The lattes have also been consistently delicious! I love their simple latte with a shot of maple syrup. Never even a strange look from staff when catering to my "different" request. I will continue to buy local in Bridgeland, as after much experimenting around the city's coffee shops, Baya is easily superior!!

Cool little Cafe! Freshly roasted beans on site - from owners whom source the beans directly. They sell very cheap 1lb and 1/2lb bags ($8.00 1/2lb). Friendly and very knowledgeable staff whom can actually make a "real" cup of espresso. Highly recommended. :)

Ben Lewis

Best coffee in Calgary! Randy and Joan are locals, who live and work in the area. Great people who I am proud to call my friends. They grow and roast their own beans. This place is a hidden gem.

Awesome coffee. Delicious snacks. Really great service and the location is beyond cute, quaint and cozy. If you're looking for a cozy place for a first coffee date, look no further. Nice cafe around the corner from the busier street. Wish they had for food options. Coffee and service was good.

Rod Ruff

Very little seating. Decent coffee though.

Jayson Abraham

The coffee is really good. Especially the mocha. Far better compared to other coffee stores. They have their own coffee beans. The service can a little better, example serving coffee to the table for dine in customers. The staff are friendly and approachable. They have place to sit out which is great ????

Ahmad Hamed

I ordered French press coffee. Not terrible but isn't special either. Parking may be an issue for you but you can always park a block away. Limited seating available. View and location are not the best.

Yosif Al Hatab

Great service, smiling friendly employees and delicious coffee, they were nice enough not to get mad on me for parking in the wrong sport, thank you for being so nice ????

Really good quality coffee, sandwiches and pastries. Everything is fresh and baked at store, really appreciated the lady in the front counter, she was really sweet and professional. Definitely a must go! The quesadilla muffin was phenomenal ????

Great place, great coffee

David Barrett

Great little coffee shop with tasty coffee. Nice ambiance and right off the main Bridgeland drag. Only downside is how small it is (also a positive), which means sometimes only one person is working and the service can take a bit longer. The coffee is worth it though!

Popped by for a much needed caffeine shot on my break. Such a pleasant place, I couldn't believe that I haven't been there before. The two folks at the counter were extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable in regards to ingredients in their baked goods which is very welcome as I have some dietary restrictions/allergies. Not to mention the coffee was delicious! It's great to see their focus on sustainability, and the fact that it's their own coffee farm they get their beans from! Will definitely pop by again soon.

Great fresh roasted coffee featuring the usual fare: espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano, etc. There's picnic tables outside for warm days and a cozy, modern interior as well. It's also a wifi hotspot.

Bryan Adams

My favorite cafe in Calgary. In house roasted single source coffee makes for a memorable brew. Their standard batch brew is french press, rather than drip and sit, making for a much smoother and more enjoyable cup. The cafe owners have a great relationship with the growers themselves, making for coffee that is not only delicious but ethical and fair trade, all while being well priced.

Omar Abdrabou

Coffee is good, service is below basic. The lady who helped us didn't seem welcoming at all. I would expect that at Tim's, but when I'm paying a premium for a cup of coffe I would expect a bit more. Also the place was too hot on a not so warm fall day, I left sweating as if I was in a Sauna, so disgusting. Also parking is another issue that took me a while to find a spot and it was also paid parking. Can't see myself coming back unless I hear some other feedback that would get me to give them another try.

John Hillis

I had a delicious latte here! Check it out.

Al Del Degan

Such a warm and cozy little place. It is only slightly “off the beaten path” and well worth the visit.

Baya Rica is a great coffee place, great Barista's and just awesome cappos and lattes.

Egbert Jager

Nice place. Popular and busy. Breakfast sandwhich was delicious and the staff was friendly. Lots of regular customers and they all dressed warmly; can be a little chilly in the front of the cafe in these shoulder seasons. Would be nice to see a larger ceramic cup option instead of the paper cups, but then again, should coffees really be that big?

t r

It's in an old house in Bridgeland. Chill place, unpretentious. Coffee is really good! I hope it's there forever!

Josiah

Great coffee, nice cozy place.

Mike “GTI” D

Good coffee, tasty pastries and reasonably priced!

Anthony Lukach

Good coffee (light roasts which aren't my preference but not sour like so many other local shops), good casual atmosphere (cool but not overly hip), okay food menu (would benefit from some soups and more filling lunches)

Great Latin American café in Bridgeland area. The service is always excellent, and their music choice is unique and I always come away with a new song to add to my ever-growing Spotify account. The coffee is delicious, and their in-house roast is fantastic. Their pastries are also unique, and the Mexican Wedding Cookie is outstanding. This is a hidden gem.

Coffee comes straight from their own costa rica farm. Seating area a little small though so keep in mind.

Small, cozy space. Sometimes tough to find a seat if you're looking to stay and relax. The coffee itself was great (and made with sustainable products)!

This yellow house is a ray of sunshine in Bridgeland, as well as one of the most delicious cups of coffee. I go there for the best americano, and the empanadas are also so good!

A hidden gem in Bridgeland. They roast their beans in house and have some excellent pastries as well.

At last I took the step to eat a gluten-free Belgian waffle. It exceeded my expectations, it was delicious! The cappuccino with oat milk was great too. It felt cozy inside. Nice place to have a drink and bite.

I moved down the street from this cafe last year, picked a café con leche and haven’t looked back since! I am a big fan of their Tres Rios coffee and the staff and delightful and incredibly friendly. The owners most certainly know what they’re talking about when it comes to coffee!

Lovely cafe! Great variation in food available & great coffees as well. Too add they had oat milk available for my coffee including other plant based milk choices!. Service was excellent ????. They went the extra mile to ensure food/drinks were good. Place was very cozy and relaxing. Loved the background jazz music at the time. Highly recommend.

yummy food and friendly service.

One of the best cafes I’ve been to. Both food and coffee is insanely good, especially the lattes, cappuccinos, nest egg breakfast sandwich, and desserts. Prices are super affordable- gourmet coffee and egg, sausage and avocado breakfast sandwich for under $6. Perfect place to grab a coffee and chat with friends or bring a laptop and get some work done. Patio outside is really nice too.

Mike Attrell

Nice and cozy neighborhood cafe with a number of freshly-made menu items for lunch or breakfast, including Chilean-style empanadas, panini, and breakfast sandwiches. Will definitely be making it a regular stop!

Natalia Ramotar

The Barista was impolite and I had to wait half an hour for her to heat up an empanada. I should've just gone to Starbucks.

David

Fantastic little coffee shop. The beans are roasted in-house and they use them to make delicious coffee. The staff aren't always as fast or friendly as they could be, but they aren't snobby and they're solid baristas. The food isn't quite to my taste but that's just my taste and that doesn't mean it isn't well made. There are always locals waiting for a coffee or hanging out with a friend at a table. A great local shop that's definitely worth checking out.

Baya Rica is a bright and cheery spot, perfect for meeting with friends or quiet solo work. The coffee is great. If they were open in the evening, my rating would be higher and they'd see more of my business! I think they usually close at around 5, but the hours aren't clearly posted in the store or online, which is frustrating. I don't tend to eat here but there's various options and alternative diets can be accommodated. The waffles are especially popular.

Ben

A very chill place to grab a cup of coffee and catch up with friends. Only wish it was open later; it would be a great place to meet up with pals in the evening as well.

Amanda MacKenzie

I came to Calgary a month before moving, at which time a friend bought me a cup of coffee. It was so delicious that I had to buy it by the pound upon moving to the city. When I entered the café, I was almost embarrassed to ask if the barista had any idea which coffee I may have had the month prior. The barista then showed me that they have a log book of the coffees they brew. This extra step, after already being a crop-to-cup, locally roasted beans, café, truly shows that the care and pride put into this café is through every step and detail. Thank you for the great coffee- I'll certainly be back :)

Saul Benary

It's a nice little shop with good coffee. The food is a bit overpriced for what you get. The service was slow because I think the owner was the only one working in the shop. There are a couple tables inside with power.

Mikaila Rees

This is my favourite cafe. I prefer plain Americano's. I love the textures and tones in the flavour of their espresso. I considered giving them 4 stars instead only because I feel they close super-early (5pm, I think). If your goal is a great espresso, give them a whirl. I also hesitate to leave a review because this place usually isn't too busy and I'd rather that not change, but I suppose it's better their business flourish based on its merits rather than my selfish desire to hide them away.

Great intimate setting. Consider it a hidden gem of coffee shops in Calgary. If you are looking to get away from the main stream, commercial joints like Starbucks this is the spot. Try out their London Fog, well made. Food is subpar. Had the chicken quiche. It wasn't terrible, nor was is mind blowing. Great spot to get away from the main stream joints though and not at all crowded.

Discovered this place totally by accident. It’s absolutely charming! The muffins are delicious and not overpriced, coffee is very strong and creamy (I bought coffee beans for home after i tried their Macchiato) and the customer service is great! The baristas are really trying to make your stay pleasant. Will definitely come back again.

I tried to make a frozen coffee with some leftover coffee....BIG FAIL! My coffee was bad to begin with...it can get worse! It was a great day for a walk & iced coffee (made by someone else). So I decided to try out Baya Rica to read before I headed out in the sunshine. Loved the picnic tables outside, the umbrellas provided great shade. Interesting people coming and going, including David & his buddies "My Three Sons". I especially like that half my ice cubes were made from coffee, so the other ice cubes didn't melt and make it watery, Really enjoyed my cold coffee & look forward to going back for the Haystacks! They look soooooo fattening! Can't wait. Joan and Brent were friendly & the atmosphere was very comfortable. AAAnnnd they know how to make coffee you can safely consume. (imma work in progress :D ) Definitely a place to go for some good South American coffee :D

Kiyomi Le

Baya catered for our United Way leadership breakfast. They provided nest eggs, vegetarian burritos, individual fruit servings, coffee, apple cider, and all of our serving needs. The nest egg sandwiches were delicious and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend having them cater your breakfast :).

Finally stopped by the coffee shop in the cute yellow house. What a great experience, freshly roasted beans an exceptional latte and freshly baked treats. Spoke to the owner, and was suprised to learn she travels to Costa Rica to get her coffee beans snd roasts them in store. Charm, personality and above all quality. Definitely will return!

Locally roasted and ethically sourced coffee. If you aren't a coffee drinker seriously try out their decaf it's wonderful with notes of fig and marshmallow. They serve weekend brunch - sweet potato and VEGAN waffles (so so delicious!) And encourage you to recycle your gently used coffee sleeves. Perfect for studying or working on projects.

So grateful to have found this amazing, one-of-a-kind cafe in trendy Bridgeland. The friendly staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and put a smile on your face. The comfortable ambience (with a patio), menu and of course the delicious coffee make for a charming experience every time. Gluten-free options and did I mention they have the best almond latte in town? Would highly recommend supporting this local gem!

Love this place. Best place to go for a proper cup of Joe!

Sheri Higgs

Best Cappacinno ever. Awsome service

Awesome local coffeeshop. If you come in on the right day they will actually roast the coffee in front of you. My only criticism is that the French press coffee isn't french pressed in front of you but rather in a pot.

Candy Lam

Our favourite coffee shop. Love the taste of their French Press coffee and price is great too!

Ashintha de Silva

Cosy and quaint place with some fantastic options and stellar service. Lots of options for Mexican baked goods, and sandwiches.

I was a bit disappointed by their food selection, we had burritos and they were quite bland. The coffee was good but they acted like I was crazy for asking for sugar-free syrup. Cute little place though.

Best coffee in Bridgeland!! I love the owners here and if you start a conversation their story of who they are and what they do is very interesting. I come here quite often for americanos which are made very well, I haven't tried the food but it looks tasty. They have a great patio outside and enough seating inside to accommodate.

A very cute and cozy cafe with awesome coffee. The espresso drinks are rich and flavorful. They offer a variety of brewing methods, such as french press, pour over and drip. So disappointed. I went in on Sunday, January 7th and it was delightful. They had alfajores and a tuna havarti sandwich I was interested in. The line was long but I was feeling patient, I was up next and standing at the counter, a foot or two from the server. I had been standing quite a long time, without ANY acknowledgement that I was there. Both staff looked younger than 18, one even had headphones in! Imagine standing for minutes without a nod, an eye glance, a wave, a smile. It was an embarrassing service to say the least an poor placement on the managements act for not putting an adult in there on a beautiful (and obviously busy) Sunday.

Pretty good coffee for a reasonable price, but nothing special really. The staff were friendly but seemed a little confused.

S Q

Nice little family run place. Enjoyed visiting and their site roasted coffees.

Stephen Cornish

Food and coffee was good. They aren't very clear about their pricing though. So, when you end up paying $12 for a cheese panini with a limp salad and chips that are broken little pieces, don't be surprised. Counter service, pleasant, but not very expansive when it came to explaining the menu. Since it is primarily a coffee shop, I was surprised that the French Press I ordered was a cup of coffee poured from an urn. It may have been made by a french press, but who knows how long it was there and that is not what you would expect. Quality: 3 Service: 3 $$$ A bit of a throw back to '90s bohemian cafes.

Coffee is excellent and reasonably priced. All the little food treats I've tried have been great. Perfect place to spend an afternoon. There's no AC though, so if the day is hot it's better spent outside. The French press coffee cycles, but is reliably buttery and smooth, with a milder, slightly acidic profile.
