tables were kind of odd, the chairs were too low for the tables making it weird to use laptop/device. the music was a bit too upbeat for studying but is good if you are there to socialize with friends. the heater needs to be turned on because my fingers were frozen by the time i left

Sweets & Beans One of the best coffee&dessert places around. @cafesweetsnbeans very cozy and modern design makes you want to stay there. It is evident that designer payed a lot of attention to the details. Sweets and beans serve JJ bean coffee and the Puffball was full of cream. The service was a bit slow, but the food is so much worth the wait! Moreover, instead of calling or misspelling your name (highly irritating), they have a cool small buzzer that starts to light up when your order is ready Huge variety of desserts from pastries to Korean style shaved ice cream and drinks from espresso to milk tea. Lots of seating space makes this place perfect for work! Beware there are not a lot of outlets, be powered up ⚡️ They also have 20% off all brunch items until 9 pm daily & you get a free coffee, too! Latte | 4.15$ (s) | 4.65 (L) + soy/almond milk 0.6$ All cakes | 6.9$ Bingsoo (shaved ice) | starting from 9$ (s) | starting from 12$ (L)

Pros: • Varied food selections • Decent cute interior designs Cons: • Restricted access to use washroom too early - prior to the 1 hour of the closing time (cleaning finished a lot earlier up for their ‘sanitary reasons’ followed by blocking off) • Mediocre/Old quality & taste on meals/drinks - either just plain insipid or way too sugary on top of the cakes seemingly sitting too long/days on the shelves… • Low cost-effectiveness on paid & obtained - on the high end pricing for low/cheap taste/quality of foods. Overall, after I went with some of my companies, I would NOT return here nor recommend this place to any of my family/friends/acquaintances. It is true that the place does have a variety on their desserts + foods menu with pretty and appealing wallpapers and stuff. HOWEVER, it is NEVER worth spending money for any of foods what you get here - with its expensive pricing and cheap quality. Also, my company wanted to use washroom (and other people in some tables on the other side too) like 50-55 mins before they officially close the shop, but they’d already blocked off on male/female restrooms (even after we requesting the use of bathroom) at an hour prior to the closing time, which is the biggest turnoff from their management as well. I have grown and lived in BC for decades (around/more than 20 years) but have I never been to a restaurants/cafés in Metro Vancouver that limit the use of restrooms 60 MINUTES before their closing business hours?! I get that it is Covid era, BUT all other places still allow their own eatery customers to use washrooms until they close the place. Normally, the staff members would then clean/sanitize the whole washrooms as they are closing the restaurant. Limiting the use of washroom an WHOLE HOUR before closing though while there are still customers in there?? - This is a bad move.

Recently discovered this place and I started visiting on a regular basis just to work on my laptop while enjoying some food. One thing to note though, I ordered the same salad on my first and second visit, and they were so different. Comparing the first and the second, the second time it had a much larger volume and had some cheese powder on it (the picture below is from my 1st visit). Both tasted good but you feel like losing money coz they occasionally give you less... It really depends on the chefs mood I guess. Fried chicken was great, juicy and flavored well, didn’t expect such a good taste at a dessert place. On the other hand, bubble teas are just NASTY, I’m not kidding. Btw you need to clean the table by yourself and that’s pretty much understandable coz it’s a pre-paid cafe and ppl just come and go without letting them know. Overall great experience.

Good and cozy place to hangout. Chicken was good. We ordered the original. Teriyaki burgers was just ok. Meat Patty was rather dry. Covid prevention measures were good. Temperature checked and social distancing. Staff came around wiping empty table occasionally. Place is clean and tidy. It is self served. we like it. Will be back.

Quiet place with plenty of seating. However, vegetarians, please beware of the veggie options on their menu. We ordered their truffle fries today, as it is labeled "can be vegetarian," only to find out it is fried using the same oil as their chicken! When I asked about regular friends, he said everything that is deep fried is fried using the same oil. I told the staff, "This means it is not vegetarian," he replied, "Yeah, we should change that." Let's see just how long management takes to make these changes. Either cook the fries separately, or take the label off. Very disappointed.

I enjoyed the milk tea cake with my red bean milk tea bubble tea. The pearls are nice and chewy.

Food was so fresh, flavourful and filling! As a group of 4 we got the truffle fries, Gorgonzola pizza and the S&B signature pasta. This cafe is great to grab some bomb food with a Korean twist to it or if you’re just looking for a place to study! I give it 4 stars as the food takes a while to be prepared compared to other restaurants.

It took 35 mins for 1 order of carbonara. Serving is small for the amount that you pay. Only one customer was ahead of my order so it was unreasonably long for service. No other customers were being served as well during my wait time.

Great decor and atmosphere! The food is quite different and may not be to everyone's liking. This is a place worth trying at least once. Limited free parking in the plaza. Food: Chicken wing tower came a bit slow but it was mostly worth the wait. Comes with a spice mix sprinkled on the fried batter that gives you a bit of a kick and a liquid tangy and salty sauce at that sits at the bottom of the tower. The only problem with this dish is that the wings sitting in the sauce become soggy. This is a must try, as it is different than most wings you had before. Injeolmi (mochi lava bread) was delicious but extremely sweet. You better have your sweet tooth on because this is not an amateur's dish. Tough to craft and tough to eat, the flavours are absolutely amazing. It is served with two scoops of ice cream and a large portion of whipped cream and drizzled with caramel on-top of almond crumbs. Prepare to chew a lot, but it's a dish worth trying once. Cream of mushroom soup (daily special)... Nothing interesting. Service: This is a order then sit down kind of place so don't expect much here other than some nice smiles. Value: Everything's a bit pricey but it's not ridiculous and I think it lunches right at its weight in terms of quality and quantity. About $30 for two people for brunch.

Still making an effort to bring a few of their offerings daily. Young crowd students studying mostly. They could due to have an increase in turnover for profitable business. I hope that they find a larger clientele.

good hang out place but not much substantial food. it's more of small treats, not really for filling food. -1 because it has a smell when you come in. it seems like it needs some fresh air from outside or something. this is every time i have come in. if they can fix this then i will change my review. +1 because you can literally hang out here and just do work. no one will bother you because you can order and just dive down to work. you do have to do the picking up and clean up as a good gesture because it's a big place.

Alan Ling

We loved it here so much that we have visited the place almost every Saturday since discovering it a month ago. The hot beverages and desserts were perfect for a nightcap. The service was fast and friendly.

They are still open. Amazing service and food is just delicious!!! Service 5/5 Food Quality 5/5 Always have and always will recommend this place to everyone.

Mediocre experience overall. Maybe we should have tried the pasta instead. Do NOT to try to order their milk tea (bubble tea) it is literally just milk + flavor. Not even shaken. Oreo ice cream waffle was melted by the time we got it. Friendly service but understaffed. It’s a nice place to hang out with a laptop.

a gem for cafe! I'v been here 3 times now and I've enjoyed each of my stays. It'a really good cafe to hang out with friends as large or small groups, and or studying with laptop and such. Ive ordered 3 of the bingsoos (they're all good), a matcha chiffon cake (dont recommend, tasted bad) and a london fog (properly made). So, I'm quite satisified. One thing is that there's not many seatings with an outlet, if you want to study here for extended period of time.

Cute place for nice breakfast and coffee

Came for their buy one get one at 50% off. Had the brown sugar bubble tea and the Okinawa black sugar bubble tea. Tapioca pearls were alittle hard; possibly under cooked. Drinks were all too sweet. Will have to order it next as 1/2 sweet.

Jim Fong

Cute place to hangout with friends. Now, with an outdoor patio.

Ember N

Love this cafe! Warm and friendly service, cute seating design, food is delicious too. However, the waffle taste a bit sweet to me.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was still their soft opening period. They were still giving away a small piece of cake. The interior is very spacious and inviting. We ordered a Matcha and Red bean bingsoo. They gave lots of matcha powder and enough red bean, rice cake and ice cream. They don't add corn flakes or infuse the matcha into the ice, but they make up for it with enough matcha on the outside. I would suggest they use a colder dish to serve the bingsoo as it melted way too fast. One of the top three places for Bingsoo in Vancouver. We will definitely be returning for Bingsoo and to try the other cakes. Update: We came back and tried a large mango cheesecake bingsoo and blueberry cheesecake. The mango wasn't the sweetest. The blueberry cheesecake was as expected. The crust was well made. Matcha latté, you can choose no sugar, unlike some other shops. Just tried Injeolmi lava bread, awesome, except too sweet. A little less syrup. Another update after trying their latest menu. I'm glad they keep updating their food items. The Fungi pizza was very good, was served nice and hot with good mushroom flavor. The cream chicken was good too.

Chickens are good but super expensive now. Price did not increase from half year ago but size has shrink so much. It is like "shrinkflation". I can't believe I paid $22 for this "full size". I wonder what half size looks like.

This place is amazing! The food is great! (Teriyaki burger tastes amazing!) I'm not really a burger person and tend to hate most burgers but that one is packed with flavor it made my taste buds dance with joy and the fries are crisp yet also hold a punch of flavor. The people are kind, fun environment, great hang out spot, super cute and comfortable seats. Will definitely be back to try another burger again! Also great desserts!

New found favorite brunch place in Burnaby. The prices are fair for brunch, but the portions make up for it. It’s a cafe style, where you order and pay first. One thing that can be improved upon is parking. Their parking lot is always full, but there’s paid street parking. Even then, there’s not many spots on the streets and you are competing against other surrounding businesses. The atmosphere is comfortable though, definitely a great place to study or conversations.

Vivian Fung

super huge place with a large menu selection, from sweets, to full on meals. I am pretty sure I've stayed there once from AM to PM and had all my meals there while studying for exams. Not a lot of outlets around, so you'll have to scout out for tables with outlets. Sometimes they play their music too loud but at least they're bangers :)

Irene Go

The chicken waffle I tried was really good! Some other dishes my friend tried are great too! Great atmosphere and service! Definitely will come again! Update: 2nd time tired the spaghetti and meatballs, it was so delicious!

The guy who took my order was super friendly!! And the bubble tea taste so good

It’s expensive but their pasta and chicken waffles are soo good. Their cold drinks are a bit too sweet for my taste. Unique study spot where you can also get real food. There are few outlets.

Val Feng

Lovely place. Always really clean and quite quiet. Also they have fried chicken, good to try!!

The brunch was bright me up the day. Comfy place, nice food, not too noisy. Dessert is good too.

Victoria Lamber

Awesome brunch, esp the chicken tower! A little spicy but super crispy! Probably my favourite dish from this place!

David Y

The atmosphere is good and the drink is delicious.

Cindy

The chicken dish was on point ($24 for 2 flavors). Spacious environment. friendly staff and service.

Jon Lingat

So delicious. The chickens are very juicy.

Great atmosphere and interior! Cafe is spacious with a generous amount of seating! Convenient parking: there is ample parking at the parkade at the back of the cafe. I got the salmon belly, and it had come with a cup of coffee, which I didn’t know was in the set. A pleasant surprise! The food was good, but I felt that it needed to be a little more savoury. Everything seemed overly sweet because of the relatively lack of salt/savoury taste. The food also took quite a long time to be ready, even though there weren’t much customers/orders. There seems to be a lot of selections on the menu, so I’ll be back to try other foods!

Veronica

I used to come here with friends or family, it's a nice café with a laid back vibe, and we love their pasta! Their prices have gone up over the years (I think pasta used to be around $14 to $15 and now it's a couple dollars more). Either way, it's still great pasta, but a bit of a higher price point. Took out a Beef Ragu and S&B Signature last week. Their S&B is so good, very rich but they don't skimp out on the crab meat/sauce. Highly recommend! I'd also check their site for any deals and new food items, they recently introduced fried chicken which I'd like to try in the future.

It’s so dark inside that they don’t seem to have opened. I ordered the 16oz frappe that I always ordered. It was sweeter than other days. But I can understand that. But what the hell is that mysterious thing on my frappe????? I couldn’t take a sip of that cuz it was so gross. And the cafe music is so loud!!! The cafe Sweets N Beans I used to know always played quiet and calm music. I really like studying here with my friends, but you guys are so messy these days. The system is completely ruined. I hope you guys get back to normal as soon as possible.
