First time visiting this coffee shop, we ordered a Chicken Sandwich, the Hiel’s signature Soufflé Pancake, a latte, and Hiel Coffee. The environment and ambience were cozy and spacious - perfect place for a relaxing Saturday brunch. The drinks were presentable and tasty. The soufflé pancake was puffy and sweeten to the right point. The chicken sandwich was a good portion for two people to share, but the only thing was that it was cold and the bread was a bit dry. Nevertheless, their waitress offered to heat up the sandwich as an option for next time. Overall we had a seven-out-of-ten experience.

Cute little cafe, whether you want brunch, lunch, or just drinks. Cozy tables, with a lot of natural light and on sunny days a patio. A mixture of fake and live plants giving a nice atmosphere, and the staff are always helpful. I've tried the Vanilla Rooibos latte, Caramel Machiatto, and the Iced Toffee Latte, as well as the Souffle Pancake and the Creme Brulee Souffle Pancake. Both were delicious, the regular Souffle Pancake having a more mild sweetness. Everything I have tried has been extremely good. I definitely plan to go back to try some of their other items and highly recommend the place.

The friendly and welcoming staff at the cafe are always kind and accommodating. I work a couple doors down from them and one day I had ordered something that I intended to pick up later but got too busy to get it. Sarah had actually brought it to me after she had realized that I had not picked it up. If it wasn't for her I would not have eaten that day. Absolutely recommend any and all people to come and say hello to the wonderful staff. Thanks again to Sarah, Jane and everyone at the Hiel Cafe for the prompt service and making sure I always leave with a smile!

A beautiful change from the previous cafe and much needed! The new owners are very friendly, the place is very warm and welcoming with a natural vibe. I was given a tray for my drink and coaster, tables light wood and the plants everywhere were an amazing anesthetic. There is now a conference room very laid back! A place where you can destress before or after appointments with actual fresh nutritious foods. They have opened up the client tell with almond and soya milk. Water is provided in a container self serve. Sandwichs made fresh as well they have poke on the menu, unfortunately being dairy free and gluten free I did not have a chance to try. They are working on getting more vegan and gluten free options. I will be back to try the poke. They were interested in the brand of bread I recommended "little northern bake house" as it is vegan and gluten free. The iced soy vanilla latte I had was very well balanced between all flavors and was pleasant. They use quality syrups. So much to say because there is so much positivity especially with a staff member present welcoming as you enter. Thank you for your positivity in my day. Looking forward to visiting on days of my frequent appointments to destress. I highly recommend this place. ????

I have been meaning to come here for ages and I finally did today... let me tell you that I will most definitely be back! If you have not been here yet, do yourself a favour and go now. We ordered the croissant french toast and the creme brulee souffle. The souffle takes 25-30 minutes to prepare so we enjoyed an americano and a london fog while we waited... the croissant was delish, whipped cream on point and strawberry sauce not overly sweet which I like. The souffle was the star - light, fluffy and superb, custard sauce was amazing and again, overall not super sweet which is excellent in my opinion. The bananas were a great addition to both dishes. While we were ordering, they were making the prawn/salmon sandwich - this is next on my list. A beautiful start to our sunny day of running errands around town! I left feeling happy, not overly full and content. Service was amazing, staff super friendly too, I should add!

I came here twice already! The first time my husband and I ordered a matcha latte (remember to ask them NOT to put sugar....it was quite sweet in terms of matcha latte!), soufflé pancakes abs croissant French toast. The soufflé pancakes were amazing!!! Two pancakes were in a dish. Very fluffy and soft and tasty!! The cafe also gave a lot of fruits. Indeed two people could share the soufflé pancakes but we also ordered the croissant French toast. We were quite stuffed by the time we finished both dishes. ???? the croissant French toast was great as well!! We rarely saw cafes or restaurants would make croissants as French toast. It meant they soaked the croissants into egg mixtures abs pan fried them like the regular French toast. We ordered regular breakfasts - croissant sandwich (with ham and egg) and brunch waffles (egg, smokey and cheesy sausage, salad with avocado, tomatoes and cucumbers, and waffles with maple syrup). The quality of all these food was okay but we could have these better somewhere else (at other western restaurants). Overall, everything is good. But I highly recommend trying their soufflé pancakes. That’s their signature dish here!! They have a small parking lot right next to the building. Free for half an hour. If you do dine in, you can park on the streets. Lots of free street parking in the neighbourhood. Customer service was good. Pricing was reasonable. I would definitely want to come back for the soufflé pancakes.

We ordered a Brunch Waffle and Scrambled Eggs. The Brunch Waffle was pretty decent, very presentable and the waffles were soft and not too sweet. The Scrambled Eggs was a little bit of a let down; the food was good but it was not worth the price since you could easily make it at home. The ambience of the cafe was nice and quiet. We definitely will be back for sure!

Cute coffee shop in the Burnaby/New West area. Place is clean and aesthetically pleasing. Everything I tried today was excellent! Today's special was bibimbap. Also had the crème brulé souffle pancake that was so tasty. So light and fluffy. The burnt sugar on top brought a great contrast to the airy pancake. To drink I had the iced Irish latte.

I had tea and a sandwich when I was here. It was good, fresh ingredients and grilled. Their music is a bit too loud and noticeable, I'd prefer something that was more in the background. Also their lights buzz pretty badly and contribute to an atmosphere that was good, but not great.

I saw they had Soufflé pancakes and wanted to try it out, and finally had the chance to try it out yesterday! Overall the interior of the cafe was really cute, and they had a variety of menu to choose from for lunch or sweets. Their coffee was really good, slightly rich and sour- for other items we had, they were good but i don't feel i would come back for them again, maybe for coffee.

I had placed an order through Uber Eats today; the food was amazing. The soufflé pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The order came with two pancakes along with a assortment of fruits, and a big container of whipped cream. The panini was also delicious, with lots of ham and sliced hard-boiled eggs. It also came with a small side salad. I also ordered the iced ocean latte, and though it had a bit of flavouring, the sweetness was minimal and the coffee itself tasted delicious. I strongly recommend this place; looking forward to an in-cafe dining experience next time.

Pillowy and light! I tried the Classic Soufflé Pancake, the cream on top was lightly sweetened and the flavour reminded me of marshmallows. The pancakes themselves were incredibly airy and had a custardy, eggy flavour and were also lightly sweetened. The fruit that came with the pancakes provided a great contrast in texture since the pancakes are quite soft . I’m not a fan of American pancakes since they’re often heavy and dense but I’ll make an exception for these pancakes!

WONDERFUL! What a hidden gem this place is. A fun mixture of traditional coffee shop fare (muffins, baked goods, etc.) with Korean dishes and other odds and ends. I had a wonderful salmon poké bowl and a frappé that was this marvellous chocolate-strawberry-Oreo-whipped cream concoction; others at the table had a beautiful ham and cheese croissant sandwich and great espresso over ice. But the showstopper was the creme brulee souffle pancake - wowza! And the cherry on top is the pricing...better than "reasonable", I'd go so far as to say "underpriced". Will absolutely be back ????!

My friend and I went there to try their soufflé pancakes. Service was good but the cafe was really dirty. There were many flies near the cashier and ants on the table we sat at. Not sure if it’s related but I also had a stomach ache after having their caramel macchiato.

Hiel Cafe is located at the busy intersection of 6th Street and Tenth Avenue on the Burnaby/New Westminster border. Due to the traffic, and despite the parking lot, it can be difficult to find parking since street parking is restricted and the parking lot always seems full from the rest of the business complex that it’s located in. On my first visit, I decided to try their Egg Avo Croissant ($8.25) as well as a London Fog. Their presentation is on point with a beautifully plated croissant filled to the brim with thinly sliced avocado, egg salad, and cheese. The London Fog was deliciously creamy… I don’t normally order this drink but I think I’m converted. On a return visit, I ordered the Tuna Poke ($12) along with a Matcha Latte. As with my first visit, plating was pleasing to the eye and the environment was inviting. The poke is not pre-marinated and comes with soy and wasabi on the side. Still, it was an enjoyable lunch with plenty of cubed pieces of tuna sashimi along with an assortment of tomato, corn, peas, pickled radish, seaweed, avocado, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, shredded nori, and pickled radish on top of the rice. The following week, I came back to grab a quick sandwich and wound up ordering the Croissant Panini ($9) with ham, egg, lettuce, tomato, and sprouts as well as a Matcha Latte (bit disappointed that there was no latte art this time around). While the croissant has serious cross-hatched grill marks on the top, I found the ham on the inside was still cold. The croissant was still flaky but I think I preferred their non-grilled croissant better so I’ll have to remember that for next time I visit. I returned on Hallowe’en for some eats and decided to try their Soufflé Pancakes served with strawberries, grapes, and whipped cream and paired it with a Hot Chocolate (complete with a Hallowe’en-inspired art on the top). It takes about 15 minutes for them to make this dish so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Ohhh… these pancakes were so soft, puffy and jiggly! When the rainy weather finally arrived in late November, I came back for their London Fog and a Tuna Sandwich served on whole wheat with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, and cheddar cheese. This time around, however, I decided to try their adjacent room which has a long, wooden communal table. This would make a great place to meet up with friends or to get a bit more privacy from the rest of the cafe. Dropped by during Christmas Eve to grab a quick lunch… Prawn and Salmon Sandwich ($11.25) with a London Fog ($5). The plump shrimp and smoked salmon was accompanied with lettuce, sprouts, and cheese on multigrain bread and turned out quite nice. One of my favourite cafes in the area.

My husband and I went to check it out yesterday. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the staff was very friendly. They had some great coffee and amazing food. We ordered a BLT panini and a prawn & smoked salmon sandwich. These were one of the best sandwiches we've ever had. The ratio of bread to vegetables to sauce was perfect and the portions were just right. We will definitely be back to try other things! :)

The cafe is really cute. They have nice decor and a pleasant vibe to spend some time. We had the Japanese souffle pancakes in crem brule and matcha flavors. Highly recommend the matcha. It was super light, fluffy and delish. The presentation on the plate is also very nice. I was curious to try the black vanilla latte. It was alright, but not my favorite. Would definitely come back for the pancakes though.

Hidden gem in Burnaby! Around 10min away from Columbia or New Westminster Skytrain station. Even tho it was our first visit, but WE LOVED this place~ Large space, comfortable, friendly staff. The best highlights were still the amazing food we ordered. Grill chicken sandwich which was totally beyond our expectation, really delicious. Whole wheat bread, packed with salad, tomatoes, cheese, house sauce. Also comes with house special salad on the side too. Sweet Peach Ade, definitely one of our new favourite drink. It kind of tasted like Meynard Fuzzy Peach Candy combined in a light lemon soda. Matcha latte, a tad on the bitter side, but pairs well to balance some sweetness from the soufflé pancake. Next, the Jiggly and soft soufflé pancakes! I was so shocked by the size of this hugeeee 2 pieces of matcha soufflé pancakes~ so light and fluffy, melts in your mouth. Also beautifully plated with fresh strawberry, whipped cream, and matcha powder toppings. Great cafe to come for brunch, some coffee and desserts, cuz they even have Korean Bingsoo "shaved ice" too. Cozy cafe with surprisingly good food. I found out about this cafe from a friend's positive review. It did not disappoint me. The plaza has free parking and the cafe itself is bright and spacious, perfect for catching up with friends or studying. The prawn and smoked salmon sandwich has a nice balance of flavours and fillings. Everything is fresh and crunchy with a light creamy sauce. The souffle pancakes were sooo jiggly and light with whipped cream. I would prefer to have slightly less whipped cream, which is a tad too rich and sweet. Overall it's a nice cafe and I would totally recommend trying their souffle pancakes.

Beautiful café with an overwhelming number of drink options, and of the two that I tried they were amazing. The environment makes it a fantastic place to study, talk, or relax. I haven't tried the food, but the poke looks really good. I will definitely be back there soon.

This place hits the mark everytime . They are always very friendly and you can expect your favourite food to be the same each time you order it . I come here at least once a week , it’s around 25$ for my partner and I to get a latte and either a morning croissant or the french toast croissant (my fave ) . Al so brought my gramma here and she has so many dietary restrictions and they happily obliged , and my gramma loved her meal . Even if you just want a good coffee , come here , skip the timmys across the street .

One of the few places that actually serves a good, strong matcha (most coffee shops make it too milky or you can't taste the matcha well). I like their croissant panini and the side salad was good as well (I think it had a sesame dressing?) The breakfast croissant (pictured below, not the same as croissant panini) was not as crispy as I'd like but still good flavours. The souffle pancake portion is huge and very soft (don't tackle it alone!) Atmosphere is nice, well decorated interior, lots of space indoors. Display has lots of beautiful tarts and desserts. The food does take abit of time though, so maybe not if you're in a rush.

Food as art! Everything that comes out of the tiny Hiel Cafe kitchen is almost too beautiful to eat. Same for the drinks. Beautiful and delicious tasting food and drink.

Very chill and quiet place. The ambiance has a lush and cozy feeling that invites a conversation over tasty, delicious food or soothing, hot drinks. The only downside is that it's on the corner of 6th and 10th, creating a bit of noise when you're outside on the "patio" or by the window. I still recommend coming here to give it a try!

I got the tuna sandwich&salad It was packed full, refreshing salad with delicious dressing and absolutely delicious sandwich . Try their Hiel Latte and the Smoked Salmon sandwich. It’s actually really good. Fills you up, delicious, and good visuals. The customer service really good too and they have a nice, soothing atmosphere. If I was a New Westminster local, I’d definitely be a regular here. Hands down better than any other Lougheed Korean cafes. It’s a hidden gem cafe!

This was their creme brulee version, served with a side of bruleed bananas. I forgot how simple yet elevated bruleed bananas can be. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and jiggly as they should be. Super cute cafe, delicious puffy pancakes, and the salmon poke and breakfast croissant was great too. It's more expensive than your normal breakfast place but just about right for a brunch place. Service was very friendly and quick, they don't wait at your table though. Overall an enjoyable experience, I would bring people here for a casual occasion.
