So I called Dec 28 to order a cake and all I have to say is wow! They have the best customer service! Anyways the Chef that made my wife’s birthday was simply amazing and honest with me with the time I gave him. He suggested a lemon meringue cheese cake that was off the charts in presentation and taste. I arrived on Dec 31 when the cake was done and he was putting the finishing touches on it and the lady at the counter gave us some of their pastries and extra lemon meringue in a separate container and also a discount on the cake! I couldn’t believe the craftsmanship of the cake and the level of care to a first time customer. Thank you FDL cafe and I will be back again to get some coffee and other goodies! And big thanks to you Chef!

They make their gelato and baked goods in house. Alex is an amazing baker and the staff are always friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. Have it on hood authority that they can make a mean cup of coffee. Plus your supporting a local company, what’s not to love.

I honestly don't even have the words to describe how good the Gelato is here. The tirumisu is INSANE. the pistachio is out of this world. Super creamy, like, unbelievably creamy. The staff are super nice and the ambiance is so lovely. We just moved to the area and are so happy we found this spot! Highly recommend!

Such a gem in Burnaby! There is something for everyone (sweet and savoury lovers). Great customer service, cannot recommend this place enough it is a must!!!! Personal fave is the Red Sandwich, if you love savoury meaty sandwiches it is worth every penny.

Omgoodness if @fdlcafe isn't heaven I don't know what is! I'm so excited that I finally got a chance to try this place & it did not disappoint! It's a great looking cafe with friendly service & the treats are not only visually pleasing but to die for delicious! We had the following: Ganache Tart OMG Bread Pudding Hazelnut Chocolate Croissant (3) Chocolate Croissant Chocolate Meringue Mushroom Pita The last picture is my wish list for my next visit ???? Oh & they also have a great selection of Gelato, one flavour in particular caught my eye, Lychee ????????????. She generously offered me a sample, but I politely declined. In hindsight I wish I had taken her up on it. Hopefully it's a flavour they have in their regular rotation, so I can try it soon!

I admit I am a difficult customer! so I am so glad I found this place! everything was perfect, washrooms super clean, good service, reasonably priced and EVERYTHING was so tasty! the coffee, the pastry & the GELATO! Thank you for a lovely morning! we tried almond croissant which was my favourite, tiramisu and pistachio gelato. we also tried the yoghurt cake and the Turkish meat pastry. all was good my favourite are the coffee croissant & the pistachio gelato

Recommended by staff working at Nana's bakery over a month ago. Finally stopped here. I wish I'd have come here earlier. Although it's almost 4pm, there were only 2 seats left by the window. We ordered turkey pizza pita and hazelnut icecream, super delicious???????????? Staff is very friendly. I understand everything is made in house. I definitely will come back and try their other stuff.

Average coffee, I ordered a breve latte. , and perhaps it was not steamed accurately, lacked the kick & was not warm enough. Edit: I’d like to clarify, the Barista was indeed genuinely hospitable, noted my custom order for a ‘breve latte’, answered my question about the type of roast, and genuinely asked me what a ‘breve’ would be, to which I clarified and the Barista made the coffee. I left a decent tip, no fuss. It’s just that the coffee itself didn’t live up to my expectation, and there can be various factors in the play. The review is not to scathe a business, but about a genuine dissatisfaction, about something missing. No qualms! I’d definitely make another trip in the near future!

I love this place! Amazing baked goods, gelato, sandwiches and coffee!! The service is great and the owner is extremely nice! I had the chance to try many of their excellent baked goods, always so fresh and an incredible variety. The cherry turnover is my favourite! The gelato is so fresh, soft and full of flavour! I just tried the casis (black currant) and I'm in heaven! Can't wait to go back! :)

Everything I try here surprises me. They have amazing, fresh, tasty pastries. They are creative, and the moment I think I have tried everything, they add a new item. I also liked the gelato. Their danish and almond croissants are my most favourite. They care about their customers. My friend wanted to get a danish, but it was sold out, so they added fruit to another pastry for her to make it similar to danish. This cafe is the kind of local place that I want to come back to every week.

We were very excited to try this new cafe out. Staff was very friendly. Service was great. We've had the beef pita, beef burek, croissant and cinnamon pecan roll. All were very delicious! Only criticism would be that they have run out of a good selection of their products too early, like before noon. In future, we're looking forward to trying out their gelatos.

I'm impressed, this cafe had a lot of people wanting to get in, it was packed, so many people inside. Line went relatively quick though. They also had gelato which I might try next time. Pastries were great, tasty and flaky texture.

A traditional cute geletaria with a homey-style twist. The joint is warm, comforting, clean and well taken care of with good attention to details on the aesthetics. The vibe that comes across is a nice family-ran European coffee and Gelato bar with a large emphasis of love and effort put into it. The barista was also extremely friendly and kind. I had to check out the reason for such high rated reviews and I like this place when looking to chill. They have a great wide selection of various Gelato which compliments well with some rich roasted coffee. They have some pastries and snacks which all look fresh and seem to be homemade. It would be great if they offered some more vegetarian-based snacks and pastries if possible though. Please don't let the pictures of low stock have a detrimental effect, to be fair this was on late Sunday afternoon.

This is such a gem in the Burnaby Heights community. I don't live in the area but it's our new favorite cafe and we have been making the voyage over every second week for a tasty treat and delicious warm drink. They have the BEST gelato. We're Italian and their gelato brings us back to warm summer evenings in Florence. Every flavor is outstanding. We appreciate how clean and COVID-safe this place feels. the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Always a great experience.

Honestly the best mango gelato I have tried in the heights! I finished it so fast. My kids also loved their cookies and cream ice cream. Wow ! a HUGE CHANGE !! This place is a gem now , the gelatos ,pastries and sandwiches are up to European standards ,just incredible ! I do recommend to come try out their pastries ,sandwiches and gelatos ! If you love gelatos and a health fanatic , this is a great choice :)!!! Feedback : it will be even more amazing if owners decide to use wood/sustainable products for the gelatos rather than plastic cups and spoons ! Past review ( before changeover to new owner ) Was waiting for take out for Anton ‘s pasta bar , came over for an ice cream . The boy who served us was super friendly and kind, walked out with 4 different flavours of gelato . But the gelato is clearly too sweet and the ingredients are not that good quality in my opinion. Hope to see the reduction on sugar content in the future.

I cannot recommend FDL enough. Their gelato is incredible, service is consistently beyond expectations. Everyone is very friendly. Pastries are among the best in Vancouver. I drive from downtown to FDL on a weekly basis just to get their hazelnut or pistachio gelatos. 15/10.

Haven't had the chance or the energy since covid to give any reviews. However this place has given me the energy to finally write a good review. Atmosphere was beautiful and cleanliness from the front door to the washroom was superb. Not a huge fan of macaroons but boy these ones were a must try .. passionfruit especially. Gelato choices are outstanding havent tried it though but very savory choices. The cakes are beautifully made with tons of passion. I also had a chance to try this orange cake and the flavors were out of this world. FiorDiLatte Cafe I will return and definitely try the gelato as soon as the weather gets warmer.

It was my Grandfather's birthday and this place went out of their way to make this day extra special for him, they were very accommodating and put together an amazing assortment of delicious pastries including some extras. Love this cafe, its really small and cozy. Stopped by for Gelato and found out they have lots of sweet treat/pastries and healthy options (aka salad) too. Not a lot of dining table but its good cuz covid. The Cafe doesn't seem super popular either more like a neighborhood cafe vibe so its covid safe i think because there isn't a lot of people flocking to it for IG or a specific treat.

This is a new cafe, opened last spring. Very clean, beautifully decorated, tastefully decorated with flowers on the table. The toilet has a disinfector to wipe the surfaces for your safety. The staff is very polite and welcoming. The coffee is delicious, especially espresso. Ice cream will delight your children. Macaroni, cakes, mmmm. Everything is very tasty and beautifully decorated. The KINDEST staff. I had a decaf Americano and friends had matcha tea drinks. There was a mix-up of drinks (our party's fault) but they were so understanding, and kindly made us a new drink after we had paid. They were good at recommending what to get from their menu, and their pastries look spectacular. Even at 9:30 pm at night, they were attentive and friendly to all patrons. Their gelato was popular, lots of people coming in and out. It helps to still be open late when many other coffee shops or quick bites stops are not! Will definitely be back, and would recommend others stop in!

This place has become my go-to... go-to what.. go to in my mind once I think of just something I want to eat, it has been that type of relationship. I remember the first time coming here, as they opened during that scary time of Covid, and honestly coming on a weekly basis.. sometimes more than once, this place is so welcoming because of the people here, it honestly feels like a 'Cheers' of the Heights without the people at the bar sitting and drinking beer! There are so many good things going on here, where do I begin... When you enter you will notice an open area before your eyes feast on what you are about to see. Usually you will be greeted by Bel and then it is up to your cravings to decide what you want (this will get you in trouble!). You will see the gelato cabinet first, and a fridge with cold cakes and macarons (I have not tried the macarons yet!) the gelato is made in house, don't think it is bought somewhere else, and they just load up, and once it is gone that night.. it will take some time for them to actually make. From sorbets to imaginative flavours, I had the chance to chat up with Carlos (one of the minds behind the gelato's) and he is always trying to best his last one. They use high quality ingredients and it shows once you take a scoop, from pineapple to their version of cookies n' cream, what will you have... that's always a question when I bring my wife, cause she says she will have this.. and always comes out with something else cause it is so unique and good. In the back, there is a big glass display for all their in-house baked pastries, and usually when I get there it is practically empty, advice: come early to have a selection or be like me and hope the thing I want is still there. From croissants to danish's, pita's, fruit pockets and cookies.... it is amazing to know that all of this is made right here in this little place and the selection is vast and by the time you know it you have ordered 3 different things for yourself! Some of my favorites have to be the chocolate cookies, sour cherry turnover, and the blueberry danish (all these items usually are gone early...) there are others I have yet to try. If you get the chance and if he comes out of the back, Alex (the owner and mastermind behind all these goods) can tell you about all that is out, and maybe tell you about some new things that will be cooking in the oven. The coffee here is good too, if you are in need of the morning fuel, or something to pair off well with your sweet treat. Do they have anything other than sweets? Yes.... they have savoury items in their pastry shelf, like cheese sticks (can vary and change how they make it from week to week) and meat filled pitas, among other things. They also make sandwich's and I am meaning to come back to try soon. This place is truly a gem, and only has been opened for a little while and has become a favorite place to just get something, whether it be a treat for my wife, or after dinner where we just need to finish off the night with some gelato..... I always look forward to the next time... to see what is new, what is left.. and to say hi to the people that are there.

We dropped in Sunday night last weekend for Gelato and were blown away! Super Friendly service- I wish I had of asked the young man's name as he deserves a shout out. Mango Gelato was heavenly and the other flavors also great. The Decaf Americano was second to none. We will be back!

WOW, I mean W O W! This beautifully designed establishment invents the best ice cream ever! It's made right here by owner himself, Domenico, who I had the pleasure to meet along with his wife Araceli! Domenico takes pride in his products and carries a true heart of ownership in providing the best gelato experience you've ever had. I couldn't stop tasting those fantastic flavors! I have not had lunch here, but I can certainly attest to the fact that this is not "FAKE" ice cream as someone wrote. It's sad that anyone would even make the statement! You have got to try this place out. It is quaint, has top quality finishes throughout the establishment and the family oriented way of running this gelateria business, is second to none from where I'm writing this review! Try to find consistent and great food places in this city.. For dessert, pastry, cakes, gelato and coffee this is definitely one of the few! I’d normally go there with friends once a week. FDL Cafe is an awesome little shop. From my understanding it started out as a gelato place but turned into a coffee shop recently. Their coffee is very good and the environment is a great one. I often come here for coffee and to study, work or whatever else I need to get done. Staff is very friendly and the shoo is also very clean!

Got our coffee fix while in the area. Must say, cup sizes are smaller for the price when compared to other cafe’s! There were very few baked goods left during our visit. We just got a chocolate croissant and it is one of the best I had in town so far. The owner started a conversation, I think it’s that warmth and customer-centric approach which will take us back to the store to try more of their savoury and sweet varieties. Go during the day to bag more food options.

OMG they serve some of the very best gelato I have ever had!!! They even do samples. The mango and pistachio taste like high quality mango and pistachio! The lemon is awesome, the tiramisu fantastic.... It's all amazing! The two staff members that were there were incredibly kind, patient, and generous. It was late in the day, so they didn't have any pastries out, but I will definitely go back to try those. I have a goal of trying every single flavour of gelato. I was going to set a goal of picking a favourite, but I think that might be impossible!

bought ice cream here a long time ago and we loved it even though it was sooooooo expensive. now we went back to buy their expensive pastry! we bought the double baked almond croissants! ohh man it's so good! it has a custard filling inside. moist and not burnt even thought it might look it. almonds just made it all nice and crunchy! will come back here again and spend more money here! as they say..TAKE MY MONEY!

Every time I got into FDL I leave with a smile on my face. They are such nice people and their menu items are delicious. Their mocha knocks every other mocha I’ve ever had out of the park. Their food is also amazing. In particular the Zucchini Pita and the Chocolate Croissant are absolutely unbeatable.

I love the pastries here and I bring my friends and family here too, but what actually really stood out for me was the service and how friendly and helpful the staff is - that is, until today. I went there with my friend around noon, the barista greeted us and was very welcoming, I recognized him from my previous visits and he's so great. But there was a girl I hadn't seen before at the cashier /taking orders. She was very unfriendly and it she seemed like she really didn't want to be there. It was very off-putting. And I'm not sure if I'll be as likely to return as often

Since the renovation FDL has been my new favourite place for pastries - particularly the butter croissant. The little cherry tarts are addictive as well as the entire range of pitas. The pistachio gelato is the best I have ever had anywhere. Normally I don't go for sorbets but the mango and raspberry sorbets are fantastic and all the sandwiches are delicious! The coffee is also now my go to roast (Detour) - it's fruity, lightly roasted, sweet, fresh and smooth.

If you are a dessert lover… look no further. This is the place! We went to check it out based on a YouTube recommendation, no regrets in checking it out. We were late, the server mentioned that they are usually out of pastry/dessert in the evening but we got lucky! My recommendation is go early. Pastry were light & flaky, the taste of them were soooo… good! Like you died & went to heaven. I highly recommend you check this place out, they have gelato too but we did not try, will do that the next time.

We visited FDL a few times already and tried different beverages. The baristas here are all super friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks and pastries here. They also have ice cream (gelato) served at the front of the store. You also get to join a points program where you get a free drink after x number of drink orders. In the pics you'll see a cinnamon swirl pastry, salted chocolate rye cookie, mocha, matcha greet tea latte, blue matcha latte and regular latte. This was the the first time we seen and tried a blue matcha latte. It was strange though, but worth trying out if you are curious. The other drinks were done quite well with the beautiful latte art. The place is quite cozy and it seems the customers here are regulars as I see the staff chatting up with the folks in here just like a true neighborhood hang out. We look forward to coming back more often to try their other delicious pastry selection.

Newly opened and with a great variety of gelatos to choose from. They had flavour ranging from nuts to fruit. I went for the pistachio and the coffee one. My friend had the passionfruit and it was really refreshing. It was nice and tart. The gelatos overall had great flavour and the texture was smooth. It wasn't too sweet. I also noticed they had some baked goods in the back as well. Definitely check this place out if you're in the neighbourhood.

We were standing in Anton's line up trying to decide where to go as we no longer wanted to wait an hour for a table. We noticed this caffe from across the road and decided to give it a try, so happy we did! The atmosphere and decor is what initially attracted us. The gelato was so soft and rich in flavor. Love that they are offering samples to try as most places still aren't which makes it difficult to decide on a flavor. We had chocolate and tiramisu. The server was patient and helpful, didn't get his name but he looked like drake.

WOW. Picked up two small pints today of pistachio and chocolate hazelnut. I had a feeling it would be good, but this gelato took me right back to Italy. Thick and creamy, it gives you that smooth mouth feel and the flavors are strong and real tasting. You can tell they use good ingredients. Best gelato in my life and I've tried a bunch in Italy and Croatia, which has a lot of Italian influence. Their coffee and pastries are just as awesome. The owner is certified by the Italian Federation of gelato makers. The prices are super-affordable and the portions are huge, staff always friendly and helpful. Good gelato and coffee, nice interior design, great neighbourhood-feel. The background music of generic, loud pop music was unfortunate. For baked goods, lots of interesting choices but their quality and taste were unimpressive. Was particularly disappointed when a cake piece I tried did not taste fresh - the cake part was dry and the familiar smell/taste was there like when you store a cake on cardboard in a fridge for longer than a day. In this department perhaps reducing the variety and focusing more on the quality will be helpful..

Thanks to FDL café, I am now less nostalgic of REAL Italian gelato and sorbet! The place has become my favourite in all Metro Vancouver... All the flavours contain natural organic ingredients (no colorants or chemicals!) and are made with authentic Italian passion. My favourite is their "dairy-free chocolate sorbet"...so creamy and light at the same time! I am also crazy for pistachio, hazelnut, vanilla and gianduia! Seriously, when you have these flavours, you even forget it’s winter and you want more and more! At FDL, I also had the best European-style croissants and their fruit danishes are to die for! The owner and other staff are very professional, friendly and welcoming, which makes a great difference. The interior is beautiful and kept very clean, following all the COVID protocols.

A hidden gem in Burnaby! With many of the best patisseries located in Vancouver, North Vancouver or West Vancouver, this is definately one of the best spots in Burnaby (along with Chez Christophe just down the street). Today was our first visit to the FDL cafe. We've met the amazing team and Alex who were was very warm and welcoming. He helped us select some tasty treats for the family(he finished it off with some more sprinkled sugar on each one!) Everyone loved the fresh Mango & peach danishes and the croissant went well with our fresh oat milk latte. The cafe had a wide array of delcious treats, coffee and gelato! (There's a socially distanced patio outside!) Since the start of COVID we've been reducing our risk by eating out - but visiting this cafe today and seeing the safety protocols in place, clean/sanitized cafe, and socially distanced staff/customers made it a memorable experience. Will visit again, a must go-to in the Burnaby Heights area! Tip: Come in early for there fresh baked treats, they sell out fast!

This place is such a gem. They have a variety of different flavours, I have yet to go through them but the flavors I've had are incredible. Of the fruits, Pineapple is a delicious choice. It truly tastes like Pineapple. For a more creamy choice, the Coffee, Pistachio, or Kinder is an amazing option too. Coffee is delicious, they serve soups, salads and sweets. Oh my goodness. We have tried 4 different flavours so far, and loved them all. The blueberry is out of this world and and they have a decent selection of dairy free flavors. Great customer service, super friendly! Stopped by while running errands to grab an ice coffee. They had dairy alternatives which is great since I'm lactose intolerant. Their sorbetto is the best I have ever had (we are vegan and so I haven't tried to gelato, but I trust it is also amazing). Plus, you couldn't possibly ask for nicer people. For example, the other day my son and I were outside eating our ice cream cones. His face got all sticky and I was trying to clean him up before I put his mask back on. I grabbed some napkins from the front but realized I would need to use a wet napkin if I was going to be effective. I was trying to figure out how to make this happen without getting my son's mask all sticky and without entering the cafe without his mask on. One of the employees noticed my struggle and came outside with napkins to offer his help and ask what we needed. Completely above and beyond. I truly feel that this cafe is a part of our neighbourhood and community and am so grateful they are here!

Well this was an awesome surprise. Great introduction to this great coffee shop by a friend of mine. Ice-cream was delicious, capuchino was just the way I like it. I will be coming over soon to try other food FiorDiLatte Cafe has to offer.

I make a call couple days ago and ask what is the closing time on christmas eve and they told me at 6. When I want to place an order today and they told me they are closing at 3. I am really disappointed with that

Great coffee and gelato - so many flavours to choose from. Tiramisu and Pistachio are always a hit and you may even like the Pumpkin Pie flavour.

Beautiful & clean cafe. Amazing coffee. Excellent customer service. Yummy pastries. My favourite cafe in the area. 5 stars in all aspects. I’m also a huge fan of Detour coffee so even better :) Also they make delicious London fogs. I will be back to try the ice cream!

Nice little cafe to grab a coffee, croissant or a gelato - always yummy and they try to keep to the Italian roots. One gentleman at the counter could soften his stern facial expression, he's not rude, just.... Not impressed. I'm not gonna say, he could smile a little, cause nobody wants to be told to 'smile', but it is a business establishment ????????‍♀️ c'est la vie.

Friendly mom and pop shop. All the classics, but good selection of flavours. Endless mixing allowed. Fair price for heaping scoops! Edit: since they have re-opened with the bakery it has really taken them to the next level! The city needs more great bakeries and this is one of them. Have yet to be disappointed by anything sweet or savoury! If you're in the neighborhood, this place is a MUST-STOP!

Amazing variety, phenomenal quality, impeccable coffee and brilliant service. The team is sweet, friendly and attentive. The owner noticed we were not enjoying one of the 5 pastries we ordered and immediately came and replaced it with one that he thought we would enjoy more (which we did). Definitely going to be coming from North Vancouver again PS: whether you are hungry or not, definitely get a croissant!

Highly recommended! The new owners (2020) really did a create job with the space. Nice to sit down and eat or grab and go. I got the Mojo Porcetta sandwich, great combination of flavours, they even offered a side of peppers and an ice water without me asking. The gelato was delicious as well.

This is probably the best cafe here. All the items and foods from the menu are top-notch delicious, and the gelato is authentic, nice, and delicious. I certainly like this place, as their bakery is excellent. Do try and eat a variety of their food.
