Nice f+c place, there isn't any spot to sit though, so you have to eat in the parking lot or take the food to go. Fish wasn't too oily while eating. They give large servings of fries so sharing is an option too.

Fish is best in class and love their tartar sauce, but the fries are among the worst. Despite them being hand cut they're continuously fried much too long. Apart from the health hazards it takes away the taste. Simple fix, just fry them a little shorter. 4 stars for the fish, 1 for the fries...

Bought two large orders of fish & chips & the quality of both was delicious, This is the only fry’s for many miles that are always cooked in fresh oil & your not given burnt, over cooked pieces that should of been skimmed out of fryer. Been coming here 6 times a year for 30 straight years but no more. the last 4 times I noticed portions are getting smaller and smaller, and the fries dont seem to be cooked properly anymore. Very helpful staff assisted me. They helped me decide the portion size (large fries is a full basket!) And diverted me from the frozen sweet potato fries to the fresh. A good size for lunch for two was two pieces of fish and small fires, split in two. As noted, the tartar sauce is packaged. Batter is about 5 mm thick, and a little sweet, and we had the halibut. Very tasty, well cooked, handed out through the window. Fries were classic "fish and chips" chips. Cooked through, and not greasy.

This is a wonderful place. What it lacks in seating, it makes up for in speedy service and great food. While you do pay a premium, it is well worth it. The Haddock is tender inside with a nice crunch on the outside, the chips are certainly the homestyle I would expect, and the poutine is an instant win with the affordable extra gravy option. All said and done, it made for a wonderful night out with the family.

The most amazing fish and chips I have ever had. My kids loved it. It has a very homely small-town feel to it. You get your fish wrapped in a newspaper (like it should be) and it tastes great. Drawbacks include a lack of seating (it's takeout only!) and a limited menu (literally only fish and chips). You line up, pay for your meal (it's relatively affordable), get your packet and leave. Yum!

It's a local delicacy. I usually get a large poutine and a pogo. The poutine is generous, made with proper curd cheese, and rich dark gravy. I usually question my judgement ordering a large but, heres why.. Lemme tell you about the pogo. It's not just a regular pogo from a box. This one is battered in-house with that fluffy crunchy famous batter of theirs. Its perfect for soaking up the leftover poutine gravy.. there's a system! And it's amazing.

The Half-Poo ( half poutine) is the best thing to order there also they have homemade footlong pogos, an array of battered fish either one is a meal paired with the Half-moon and not sure if she still works there but the girl with the black glasses and short hair makes the absolute best poutines..worth leaving and coming back later when she's working the best...I highly recommend dons fish and chips but don't recommend going during lunch hours during the week unless you like waiting in line

Extremely disappointed Drove from Ottawa, exclaimed my excitement to the staff of how far i went to try these "famous" fish and chips. Was told by a friend to try the haddock. So i did. Told the staff to make it the large order because i wanted to enjoy as much as possible after the long drive. The staff were polite and told me that there was a place to sit in walking distance about five minutes away. It was raining and i wanted to stay dry while i indulged. Found the park and sat under a tree. A raim storm came down, which I'm fine with. Except... My fish, with EXTREMELY thick batter, was raw and, goey and imcooked about three mm around the fish. I scooped it with my finger and it was like wet white glue. IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE RAIN pouring down I would have gone back to show them .... Instead there was an eager seagull there waiting for it (perhaps this is not the first uncooked fish from Don's they have loitered around for in wait. So I fed the bird with it. ) Needless to say I was extremely dissapointed. It was not worth the hour drive from Ottawa The chips were ok. But no different then any local chip truck experience. The real bang was supposed to be the fish and I was severely disappointed Side notes: there are a few parking spots available. No wifi. And no washrooms.

Recommended by friend took Sunday drive from Kingston. Small local shop, prices reasonable, few waiting. Our order was timely, went to blockhouse Island to eat lunch. The fish was stick shaped, battered & deep fried. Cruncy outside but soft doughy inside. I peeled the fish apart from the batter, it was delicious. Fries were crunchy & over cooked. I ate few fries. When I lived in Brockville, I was a regular visitor to Don's Fish and Chips. Now that I live farther away, I go less often however it is a great excuse for a day trip. I pick up my order of fish and sweet potato fries and head down to the park by the St. Lawrence River to enjoy the view. On my last visit to Don's this past summer, I was disappointed that the server didn't wrap my order in newspaper (English style) like they used to. Perhaps it has something to do with COVID rules or maybe the business has changed hands...I'm not sure, but I do hope they return to the former English style in the future. It's all part of the fun of unwrapping your fish and fries!

Old fashioned British fish & Chips served wrapped up in newspaper. Great takeout, no dine in. However there is a wonderful park with picnic tables just a short walk away to enjoy your meal at. Large meal is served with 2 pieces of fish (haddock or cod) and plenty of fries. Tasty & fresh.

Tried the cod and it tastes great. Meaty and tender, and just the right amount of batter, not too much. The chips were good too. The car smelled great as we drove down the street to Hardy Park to dine at one of the several picnic tables there, as other reviewers have wisely recommended. I stopped here on my way from Toronto to Montreal. For a small quiet town, this place always seems to have a lineup. Best fish and chips I've had. The batter is not too thick so each piece you get is packed with fresh delicious fish. The large order is pretty massive and can easily be split between 2.

The fish had a burnt taste the fries were stuck together .and the oil the were cooked in was burnt.old and the price was crazy.i. wouldnt go here again

Absolutely the best fish and chips in the area! Located within a quick walk to a beautiful park with tables right on the river. It was the finish to a great day in Brockville!

Awesome place to grab a bite. Had the halibut and fries. They do a great job of both. The halibut was awesome and the fries were cooked twice I believe They say it's the best way to cook fries. Thoroughly enjoyed it by walking over to the park and enjoying under the shade of a tree. Definitely looking to have this again.

Being from the East Coast I must say that their food is quite good as is their portion sizes. I would eat there again and would reccomend. Down side is they don't have their own tartar sauce. Easy to make and would really set this place off!

We drive from Ottawa and my family drives from Cornwall to have Don's at least once a year. Such great batter and massive portions! I always have some to bring home for a midnight snack ;)

Great fish and chips, and service, from Don’s today! The small order was quite substantial - two pieces of fish and a filling amount of well done fries (my favourite!). They add salt and vinegar to your order if desired.

Food is usually good unless you get a poutine. Clearly they are scraping the bottom of the pot the gravy is in and you end up with big sludge like chunks of gravy, not really ideal for the price you pay.
