I always have great service here! Staff are friendly, offer great advice if you don't know what you want, and the food is always fresh and tastes a lot better than your regular cafe food. The sandwiches are super good. My fave is the Maple Macchiato - yum!!!

This particular location makes bad hot chocolate and matcha lattes. Tried it a couple of times, every time it's like paying $5 for a cup of hot milk with a tiny bit of flavor. Also mentioned it to staff, but they just asked if I want to pay to add extra chocolate... No, I want a regular hot chocolate like they make it in all other Waves locatios. Other than that the location is good, beautiful interior design and amazing almond croissants.

Their hot chocolate used to be a lot richer and thicker. I asked for extra chocolate after a received a more watered down version than what I was used to. That's actually not the reason for the one star review. A little mouse creeped out of the wall crevices and darted around while I was trying to enjoy my drink. They should perhaps look into becoming a cat cafe.

Coffee is a bit overpriced for what it is. The environnement is a bit cold and sterile. We ordered some muffins, which were everything but fresh. If you want something similar to Starbucks, it's okay. However, if you're looking to discover good coffees, there are plenty other places around.

We drove by this place and felt like to try it out and we found gorgeous ceiling decor and awesome customize options for your beverages! You get 3-4 options for 1 frappuccino... We tried their Dark Belgian Frappe and Matcha Frappe. Both awesome, especially Dark Belgian... It made all the similar drinks you had before taste like crap. Service was great, staff was very patient with us when we couldn't decide which customize option to go for.

Waves was my favourite coffee spot but now it’s filled with COVID police who discriminate towards legitimate medical exceptions. I had already ordered my coffee was about to pay when Karen refused to serve me unless I wore a mask. I explained I have a serious medical condition but apparently that doesn’t matter because people’s personal opinions matter more. ironic. Never coming here again. Neither are my kids, my family, or my friends. This behaviour is illegal. A local business operates under a business license issued by the province and that license is governed by the laws of British Columbia. There is absolutely no law or by-law that overrides BC human rights code. You can not discriminate- private property or not. And trespassing bylaw does not apply.

The atmosphere of this branch is really nice. The interiors, has a European whiff to it, to match the location of Historical area of New Westminster. However, the freshely brewed coffee, is the worst I have tested hands down. It has a burnt taste of beans, not roasted. After drinking it, it made my hand shake, and my heart beating fast. I don't think I ll drink their coffee again.

Tried their dip coffee & bistro spinach feta, I really liked their feta it was good in taste and quality but the coffee was average. Store was well maintained and clean and there was not much crowd over there. There is no free parking available, you will have to park your car under paid meter.

Overpriced. Corporate. Sterile. $2.50 for a cookie? Over $3 for a cinnamon bun? $4 coffee? These are small basic food items that people are paying so they can sit and type in their iMacs I suppose. The prices should be 25% - 50% cheaper. I should know, I used to make these items when I was a kid at my Dad's bakery. If kids can make these things.. August 2021 Edit: I went back after 4 years only because the other coffee shop up the street opens later. The Breakfast Bagel was tasteless. No flavour, was that real egg?? No ketchup? Spices? Onion?? The Sweet Berry Scone (Triangle) had exactly 4 berries in it. Small ones. All you can taste is Scone - no fruit filling really. Also, when asking to use the bathroom, the small lady behind the counter mumbles something incoherent being her mask. I don't mind staff wearing a mask, but if they then don't raise there voice, and/or if they expect customers to hear them behind said mask, they are delusional. You can't hear this person at all...

Your staff needs to be explained what customer service is. We walked here with a friend on Friday around 9:30pm and for the good 5 minutes barista wouldn't even acknowledge us as she was busy cleaning. When I asked if we could order she told me to wait. Finally, she came by and when I ordered tea and deserts she warned us that the shop was closing in 30 minutes... If we looked like someone incapable of finishing deserts in half hour, why would you make us wait?! I couldn't enjoy the tea after this incident. This condescending treatment ruined my night.

Came in with a stroller, couldn't fit through one door, struggled opening both doors to fit the stroller in while the people who worked there just stared. they should get those automatic doors or whatever so people with strollers or wheel chairs don't have to struggle just to get in. not only was the doors a problem but the drinks. they are OVERLY sweet. like waaayy too sweet. one drink I got was pure white, so much sugar it was disgusting! it was supposed to be some sort of coffee drink. it was awful, waste of money. overcharge on drinks. the only drink I would tolerate here is the espresso frappe. everything here is expensive though and if you want less sweet I guess you have to be very specific on how you want your drink here. customer service here could be better. although it was my first time being to waves.

Seriously 5 star coffee shop. Visited while I was studying for an exam, great atmosphere. Any of their chocolate mochas are amazing and rich, and the turkey cranberry sandwich on their cheese bread was amazing. Personally love the white chocolate mocha but have heard the dark is better. I dropped my plastic container of garlic on the ground and it broke. It spilled on the table, my backpack, grocery bag and floor. I asked for a cloth and she instead gave me a gigantic roll of paper towel because she can't give customers a cloth. The paper went to waste she couldn't even wet the towel for me to clean the table. She got my order wrong and I had to smell like garlic for a couple hours while I worked.

Fabulous place. Love the decor. I had the Italian Soda which was quite good. Been loving carbonated mixed drinks lately. The service is really good here. My friend had a matcha frappe that she thought was too sweet. We let the baristas know and they let us switch it to something else. They were really nice and thoughtful about it and we had a great experience there.

Before I ordered I asked if I could pay with a $100 bill, lady said ok no problem. I wait for my drink then when it's time to pay they refuse my cash and send me back out into -12 weather without a free drink. Starbucks would have just given me the drink if they were unable to take payment. Never going back to a waves.

Best place for coffee in New Westminster. LOVE the vegan banana muffin and I wish they had these muffins at their other locations that I go to all the time (coquitlam centre and the one on lougheed and westwood). I'm hoping for more vegan options for their foods (the cookie sandwiches are so delicious).

Just got back from the worst coffee shop experience ever! Never been to a coffee shop where you try to order something and the barista says "I am busy with something" How about teach your staff some politeness like "I will be with you in a minute" or may be "sorry for the wait, I will be there"....like you would hear at Starbucks under similar situation.. Took a chair and Barista walked by twice, but did not bother to ask "have you been helped" or "would you like to order something". Some "customer service" training is HIGHLY recommended, specially for the evening staff on Monday nights. My two cents.

For me it's a treat to go to Waves. Their pastries and savory goods are top quality and the coffee delicious.

Mannerless staff! We went there in the evening for a cup of coffee. This was our first time at Waves and definitely last. The woman(boy-cut hair) at counter was really rude and annoying. There was an elderly taking time to order and this women was making faces. Then when there was a confusion in the order (from our side) because there products labels were overlapping, my husband offered to pay the difference and this cashier rudely said - what do you mean??? when we explained it to her, she was like - whatever!!! I was shocked. She went ahead to meet a guy who came to meet her and started chatting. Seems like she was having a hard day or doesn't like her work but that doesn't give her the right to mis-treat customer. This isn't what we came to pay for. Waves please teach your staff little politeness. Anyway, there are plenty of great places in the town. I will never visit Waves.

Waves always does a great hot chocolate. Hey I didnt know that they have a special separate meeting room that is closed off from the rest of the coffee shop for me and my dozen best friends to talk shop or whatever. I think it might be free of charge too, but not sure. Definately unique. Anyhow, I have yet to see the kind of lineups that Starbucks generates but then again, I admit to not knowing coffee or coffee quality since I go for the hot chocolate and I like the little shapes that they put in the foam at the top. The atmosphere and the staff are great, though I never really know when my order is ready since they call out the product instead of a name when its finished being created, but that's not so bad since I am super-famous and I really don't want anybody to know I'm there ;). Oh one more oddity, this place has a cryptocurrency atm, probably the only one in NW.

The coffee shop itself is nice but the quality of drinks is dropping each time and they taste horrible lately. Also if you want any promo you have to ask for it yourself (like wednesday size upgrade).

The counter staff were fairly nice although they could have given more options for my hot chocolate when I was placing the order. I've never been to Waves Coffee so didn't know how to order. Located at 715 Columbia Street, New Westminster, it Waves Coffee looks more spacious than others, it even has a meeting room for 8 people. But for parking, it is a nice place for meetings.

I consistently don’t get the drink I’ve asked for at this location. Baristas also often don’t fill cups when you order a latte which has happened on multiple occasions. This waves seems to have a turn over issue as I rarely ever see consistent staffing. It’s sad when Starbucks is providing better service and beverages as the busier coffee house on the same street.

Staff is not too enthusiastic about their products. Though the content is alright. Very pricey though and sometimes mistakes are frequent when ordering. The vibe has been remodelled recently and feels less comfortable as the couches have been removed.

I went to get a tea and a hot chocolate the other day from Waves. Usually the staff at this location are flawless with their orders, but I was a little disappointed that I received a tea and a mocha instead. Next time I will make sure my order is correct before I leave with my to-go cups. Edit: I decided to give this location another try. I ordered a green tea, but when I got home I realized that I was given something different like earl grey or orange pekoe. Not sure what's been going on at this location lately but I have to change my rating to 3 stars because of my recent experiences. This isn't the only Waves in town so I will probably take my business to another location next time.

I want to express my disgust and disappointment I experienced at this Waves location. I was trying to enjoy my coffee when a toilet cleaner came (During working hours!) and turned up some crazy generator, that was making really loud noise. I don't need to explain what a disgusting smell was coming out of there. I think it should be done, when there are no eating customers, for example after hours. It is just unacceptable for a coffee company that is charging high prices for their food and drinks.

The coffee is meh but mostly I’m not loving their attitude about covid/vaccine passports. When I offered my passport they said “we don’t do that here”. okay cool, but it’s not up to you? Any other cafe has way better drinks and food and they actual follow protocol. And in advance, no I don’t want to email you about my experience.

It's not the best coffee, it's not the best food... but it is an incredible space and it is well priced. If you have a professional meeting, need a place to study or want somewhere to get away this is one of the best options. They have a meeting room in the back that can be be booked. Be sure to book it weeks before this place is popular.

I was in your coffee shop today. I was having a chi tea. I must say I was very upset as there was a young woman at the table next to me and she was sitting with her feet on the table all the time I was there. It may not be a big deal to you and your staff as no one said anything to her but I don't think I will be back if that is what you allow people to do.

I love the fact that this company started here in BC. Not only that but they have by far the best coffee you can find and they use real chocolate for mochas and hot chocolate and even offer more choices such as almond milk or soy. You can tell the company has a great culture as there is a very homey feel to the locations and the staff are very nice.

The food and specialty coffee are delicious. They use real chocolate in their mochas and it tastes like a dessert. The prices are comparable to any other specialty coffee place, but the quality is better. This location is in a historic building and it's really cozy and relaxing.
