Hedgehog mocha is amazing here and it’s so cool that they roast so much different types of coffee. Unique art and vibe as well. More compostable takeout items or a recycled mug program would make this place even better.
If you're doing keto: they have a breve on the normal menu (with half and half). The barista was happy to swap for heavy cream. Lovely service, tasty coffee and a nice atmosphere.
Awesome place to study. Tasty bites and delicious drinks!
Banger iced almond latte. Great customer service and adorable shop:)
Visited on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in the morning. Yes, they follow strict Provincial Health Authorities regulations in the middle of a pandemic and dine-in is not allowed. The counter is safe, clean and spacious. Social distancing is not difficult to comply. More importantly, service is great even for ONLY a 'simple' cup of coffee. They do have a clean patio where you can enjoy your cup of coffee or if you can look around and across the street, the options are much more tempting. There are no shortage of options to enjoy a cup of coffee on 'The Drive' and even more evident close to 'Turks Coffee Bar'. As you can see in the photos, in any direction you look around, there are lots of potential places to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee any time during the day. Public spaces and transit are all around. Now, about the coffee, it is one of the best cup of coffee you can have in the city. No wonder they take it seriously, to the point of participating in national competitions. I do not really take much advantage of the barista's skills preparing a particular concoction as they certainly can do; however, I enjoy a plain cup of black coffee to allow me taste the depth, background and latency of the coffee. I like to enjoy each sip of my cup of coffee and I would recommend you to try it in this local gem on 'The Drive'. You will thank me.... and them, of course..!
The killer mocha is mediocre, looking good though
One of the best cups of coffee in the city. Apple crostadas are so good! Teeny place but almost always a seat free.
hipster, people reading, strong coffee, small seating areas out and in
One of the best coffee shops on Commercial, really beans and quality made coffee. You can order a Flat White there which is brilliant for aussies. Really relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff.
Best coffee in vancouver! Yes I know, bold statement in a coffee town, but it's True.
I was rushed when i encounter the store but in general was a great experience ...
Cute spot along the Drive with a lovely cozy atmosphere. Very friendly staff and lovely selection of cafe drinks - they do drip, pour over, and espresso-based drinks.
Best coffee. Same as Milano.
Great little coffee shop. Limited seating but they have a few outdoor tables that are quite nice to sit at and people watch.
Favorite coffee place on the drive for sure. Amazing selection of coffee and espresso, super knowledgeable baristas
Awesome coffee shop with a smaller menu but everything done well. All the baked goods look deadly good and the coffee is worth trying every time.
5 stars for one of the best latte in town. The barista was nice and friendly. I love their to-go cup design and will come back for another different one. I wonder if they could have these designs on tumbler, I would definitely buy them :)
Turks has great coffee, and the treats are to die for! Cool vibes, a good place to study or get some work done for sure. Welcoming staff
Surcharge +0.75 for dairy free
Turks is awesome. Well priced. Super friendly staff. And delicious coffee and snacks. Definitely a rad commercial drive coffee shop. Jess in particular makes a mean Carmel latte and is super friendly. They are one of the reasons I keep going back. It’s awesome to see that Turks can see good personalities to hire.
We wandered into Turk's on Canada Day and it was quite busy but we got a seat. My husband got a mocha which he loved and my decaf latte with a shot of hazelnut was the best coffee I have ever had. It was robot without being bitter and no migraine came on. Loved it. You can read the full review on my website Suzie the Foodie.
Love Turks! Fave spot on Commercial for a coffee. Can't beat the coffee and the service. They sell killer Lemon Squares. Also a great place (pre-pandemic) to do work as a student. Theres a bar seating area where you can stand to do some work. Limiting to 45 min at tables currently due to covid.
Such friendly staff, love their coconut/peanut butter energy balls, and their tea selection is WONDERFUL (for a coffee shop ????????????)
I used to come here around 2008 because I thought I would meet interesting people who had things going on in their lives and hence interesting things to talk about. What I found was a crowd of non-conformists who were in a constant struggle to make ends meet. It was depressing, but I persisted for a while and eventually looked elsewhere. While the coffee was very tasty, my gums hurt and joints hurt after every visit so I stopped drinking coffee and switched to water. I must be allergic. Now I live in a warm climate by a beach and surf every other day. It's what happens when you focus on what you want rather than what you don't want. Despite all this I feel a strange longing for those days off not belonging and feeling depressed on a rainy day with hot cup o Turks. Go for the macchiato. It was my favorite. Stay warm strange friends.
Feb 24, 2021- Very good coffee. Definitely will come back to this unique ???? one day soon. Relaxing atmosphere. All staff following health care guidlines.
Not a bad place to grab a coffee, mocha or ice capp there all pretty good plus great fast service.
Good coffee, good variety.
Nice cafe with good food and drinks (the salami and cheese sandwich ~$3 was so simple but yummy - the bread was quality). Nicely located across the park with a nice view. Wooden patio outside, with stone/cobblestone flooring inside.
Lovely place for coffee and freshly baked goods.
Best coffee, best people, reasonable price. Beautifully weird vibe! Perfect fit for Commercial Dr.
I've always really enjoyed my time whenever I've been here. The drinks that I've had (hot chocolate chai latte and London fog) have been really good. I'm unfortunately not a coffee drinker so I can't review that, but I work on the drive and Turks is one of my work family's go-to coffee places. The cinnamon buns are a serious issue for me. I'm gluten intolerant and there are surprisingly not a lot of places to get good cinnamon buns. And I have a weakness for them. So going there and seeing these delicious, aromatic things on the counter is like walking towards a fire on a cold night. I am so attracted to it, but I know I'm gonna get burned. On a more serious note, my only issue is that I've received slightly less than enthusiastic service a couple of times. However, one of these occasions came right after the poor barista got reamed out for something that clearly wasn't her fault by someone who seemed to be in the habit of making a mountain out of a molehill and taking it out on service industry workers. I'd probably be somewhat muted in my behaviour towards my next customer if that happened to me. I just gave her a big smile and cracked a joke and tried to cheer her up.
Best coffee on the drive accompanied with the warmest & funniest staff. Always look forward to my frequent visits!
Lovely people and cozy vibes ????
Cute little coffee shop, friendly staff and good service. Their beans are amazing, I recommend their cortado, smooth and easy drinking.
Great space to hang out with a group. Coffee is good too. I came here with a group and we spent hours here playing games. They also have a small cupboard of board games (Scrabble) and books. The weird thing is we were asked to quiet down because we were laughing and talking too loudly. It's weird because if you're going to provide games, people would possibly play, and they would probably have a good time, and then they'd get rowdy. So why do we have to be quiet? You're not a library.
First time I had a coffee there. Hands down, best I've tried. Quality!
Overall, a great coffee house with awesome choice of espresso options (love the espresso of the day option). You can tell these guys know their stuff about coffee and a lot of thought and effort goes into the details. The staff are very polite and friendly. Unfortunately there is no indoor seating due to COVID restrictions. However, it is a nice aesthetic joint with a mellow chilled out and comforting vibe. The coffee is super tasty. However, be prepared to pay for it as it cost me almost ten bucks for two double espressos with 15% tip. Support local! I would definitely recommend this place to others.
Great coffee, but their muffins don't hold a light to JJ Bean muffins
A sort of dirty little hole in the wall style cafe, really I don't see anything special about this place. There is literally a ton of coffee shops along the drive that is similar and better. If you want a coffee and some place quiet it's great for that, also nice smaller and cozy patio
Best coffee in Vancouver with rotating coffee blends. The best is their "Big 10" blend. After having a cup of "Big 10" it will ruin all other big coffee brands as you'll find that other coffee tastes burnt compared to Turk's.
Great local coffee shop on the drive with several vegan and gluten free baked goods. Decaf espresso was yummy.
Best coffee, tasty treats and very friendly staff. My favourite cafe in east van.
The coffee is delicious, the treats could be better. They always hire the friendliest baristas which can really make your day. My only complaint is it's always way too warm in here to sit for too long.
Loved my latte - can’t believe how fairly priced a large cup was. I should have tried some of the baking goods to make a better call. I wished they had croissants too
Coffee, meh ... dessert options, meh ... service, meh ...
Such an awesome coffee shop with awesome baristas. Love you Turk's.
Come to Turks if you want a proper coffee and the biggest cinnamon buns you have ever seen, coffee and cakes are of the highest calibur and the service is too, it is a little cosy/seats are close together but it didn't effect our visit.
Nice quiet coffee shop. The coffee is expensive but it tastes great and has good service and staff. Upon seeing my dog at the door, they asked her dietary restrictions and asked if they could feed her a "puppocino". (Whipped cream, so dairy). My dog thoroughly enjoyed the treat. It is nice to find a dog friendly place because most places in Vancouver are not.
Love this place. They have stayed open throughout the pandemic and figured it all out early on. Great coffee, excellent baked treats. Sorry, no cash.
Best locally roasted coffee (Calabreze) in Vancouver!!!!
Coffee is good
My favorite place for coffee on Commercial Drive
I've been here dozens of times over the past 20 years, great place.
Best americano on Commercial Drive. Try the poppy seed lemon loaf!
Friendly staff, great coffee and tea. I start my day here almost day ☕
New 2nd favourite chai, most favourite chai latte. Flavourful and a bit spicy, even the powdered topping has some flavour in it and is a welcome texture resting on the foam. And for $4! Only the sweet baked goods look worth eating, but the atmosphere is nice and the music is hella lo-fi beats to study/sleep/game to (read: relaxing and atmospheric music with light hiphop beats)... so sit down and relax.
Tiny, cozy, and good coffee.
Very good customer service
Great coffee. Nice little coffee shop. Good ambience.
This is the best drip coffee I’ve ever had. ( master roasters I assume) Come here quite often when I’m in neighborhood. It has also won many many awards apparently. A+.
You won’t find a better place for coffee on the Drive, and if you’re looking elsewhere in Vancouver the only other place that measures up is Milano Coffee Roasters simply because it’s the same company with different names lol. The owner Brian shared his story with me one day and given that I’m in the greater Vancouver area, and I’m drinking coffee, it’s either one of these 2 places or nowhere at all. During that conversation, Brian changed my tastebuds when it comes to coffee and I’m glad I let it happen lol. It’s literally the best coffee I’ve ever had.
Beautiful little cozy space, great coffee- and let’s not forget the banana bread. Every time I’ve gone here the staff have greeted me with such smiles and warmth. What more do you need?
This coffee shop has great baristas but it's quite small and noisy.
way too much foam in my cap. espresso was very flavorful though. very good beans nice flavor
By far one of the best coffee shops in the city! The big difference is they roast their own beans and the owner Brian is a master roaster. I've been going to this place for years.
Incredible coffee, great service and atmosphere - this is now my very favourite coffee shop in town.
Honestly, the coffee isn't bad. But garbage cans are full, condiments counter is dirty and needs cleaning, no sticks to stir your coffee with and most importantly despite asking for some room in your coffee cup you still get a full cup and you have nowhere to spill it into. So I stood there trying to suck up coffee to create room for cream and guess what, the coffee is extremely hot. All in all, good coffee but it comes with hassle.
Cramped space that doesnt observe social distancing at all. Workers appear to be extremely stressed, overworked. The coffee is inferior to Moja and the experience, amenities, vastly inferior to four other places on the drive at minimum.
Avoid this place if you are looking for a relaxing place to draw or work on something. After opening my sketchbook I was approached by the owner or manager who wanted to seat a group together which is totally fine. I quietly moved. His tone was unfriendly and condescending. I continued quietly working, trying to finish my mocha as quickly as possible when the owner approached me again. He continued to tell me that he was planning to stop people who are working on computers(I was not on a computer) not wanting any sort of confrontation I tried to keep the conversation short. I left my half drunk 5$ mocha behind and left within 10 minutes of arriving. The few gulps I did manage to have of this mocha were very sweet and syrup flavoured, and it was Luke warm. If you are like me and you enjoy our Vancouver there are many other cafes on commercial or Main Street with better coffee and a more inviting atmosphere.
Such a great spot really friendly owner. Working hard to keep their doors open during Covid. Awesome vibes will be back.
one of my favorite coffee shop on commercial drive. if you want to study or have a peaceful reading while sipping on a good quality espresso, Turk's is the place to go
Good coffee, recommend the chai if you're going for tea
I love their friendly staff and they are fun to nerd out on coffee with. Really cool space and a great place to people watch.
Excellent coffee !
Great service and great coffee!
Pumpkin pice flat white????????♀️????????♀️????????♀️????????♀️
Best coffee! Best Staff - Jess is my favourite! Always a pleasure to stop by. Love all the non dairy and vegan options. I'm never disappointed with this place.
My favorite coffee joint. The Big 10 espresso is very good. It beats the other guys hands down. It is on the pricey side but it pays for being able to sit and people watch or whatever for extended periods.
Custom cups, small quant vibe. This place is great. I love the coffee. Soy available. Dog friendly patio.
Love this place. Never been disappointed with anything. Great coffee, amazing snacks.
Come for the Turks, leave with some Turks. Leashes are just an extra dollar. But I kid, I kid please forgive. Turks is a wonderful, magical and professional hipster coffee vendor of finest choice. The Breve Latte will make your undergarments tingle for days while the addiction created by the always talented barrister will take you back for more better than some Afghani poppies. No worms were found like most of my experiences with cream in Vancouver. I give a 6+ star rating. Love
One of the smoothest coffees I've ever had. They're open during the Covid19 era and allow 2 customers in at once. This will be my local moving forward!
This coffeeshop is a great little place to sit down and get cozy while one reads or studies. The coffee was decent, but I wouldn't consider it to be equivalent to other coffeeshops around town. The cappuccino, for example, was not made very well as it was quite bitter to drink - tasted a dark bitter roast but not much else. Still a place worth visiting, you won't be disappointed.
They are so knowledgeable about coffee and every brew I've had has been amazing. Also since they're open until like 11pm, it's a great place to hang out and work on my laptop. Free wifi!
Great Place for Java and treats
This coffee is the best i’ve ever! 5 outta 5 :)
Turksicle iced is their signature drink. Real friendly staff, ask for less ice sometimes if I've got a long day on the highway.
Gotta order their signature Turksicle cold drink, especially a nice treat on a sunny day. Comparable to a Starbucks caramel miacchiato but not as sweet, a unique flavour. Good selection of baked goodies, I've dabbled the lemon squares and cinnamon buns. Atmosphere is totally what you expect on the Drive minus the Italian, as it's more rustic and artistic. Great in summer with its patio, across fr the park.
Terrible experience. We kindly waited outside for 10 minutes when the shop looked full, and we only went in for a line up when we saw two people exit. We made sure to stand on the ‘x’ marked spot on the floor for physical distancing as well. We stood inside for maybe 30 seconds? The lady at the counter literally yelled at us to wait outside. Of course, we understand COVID rules, that’s why we waited outside until two people exit. Not only she was mean about it, she was discriminating because she didn’t ask the two people ahead of us leave (it was good long 10 mins) before two people exited the shop. Never experienced this before, but we did feel very discriminated for our ethnicity. We left the shop as soon as we were asked to wait outside. WILL NEVER go in this place ever again.
Good coffee! Small patio during quarentine, but I know it's a great socially welcoming place to hang when we are no longer in Covid crisis.
