I love this place and it’s delicious chocolate zucchini muffins and chocolate croissants. The coffee is rich and delicious. The staff are friendly. The decor is cool with beautiful plants and old books on the walls. There is no wifi so it provides a hang out atmosphere (and some meetings) but forces you to get out a book and read. A perfect pick me up after a draining counselling session
Had the opportunity to check out this place as a part of a coffee tour. Loved learning about how all the staff here are on the same level (ie no one has more power over another) and how they encourage the employees to read and grow. The treats were amazing and their nitro brew was so worth it! A beautiful cafe!
Good place for good coffee, but I can never come back because it reminds me of my demonic ex who introduced me to the place. Oh well!
????????vibe
Clean, light modern cafe with great quality coffee and short queues. A small cappuccino is the closest thing you can get to an Australian 'flat white' in the area. There is cute outdoor seating excellent fit when the sun shines. Baked goods are tasty and around3 $3, I can highly recommend the chocolate and walnut cookie which is stuffed full of melted gooey chocolate pieces that are succulent and amazing! #greatcoffee #chocolatechipcookie #vancouvercoffee
Nice decor and great beans (in fact, I'd say this place is best for buying bulk beans). Small but good selection of pastries; try their amaretti. I also really like that they serve sparkling water with their cappuccinos, even if the ratio of foam to milk in said cappuccino could be improved.
Great coffee and delicious baked goods! Try the chocolate chip cookies. They are so good!!
Quality coffee????????
Come here for a proper espresso based coffee. That's everything you need to know. You can sit at the bar near the window and watch people walking the streets of Vancouver. Take A minute just for you and your coffee. Then head out there and have a great day!
Cozy cafe with great coffee and snacks. My go to spot in the area. The outside area is nice and quiet considering its right on Broadway. I wish it was open a bit later.
Amazing cheddar scones. Coffee is delicious enough said. Service is fair and usually get a really nice person behind the counter.
Great service.
Cant argue with their selection and prices. Good coffee and good food to go along with it. Plenty of seating, too. It's always busy when I go, but never a long wait!
My espresso was good. Ps if you order a latte, they automatically give it to you as large so make sure you specify you want a small
Great coffee, friendly staff, cute atmosphere with plants and not too noisy - great for coming to read or do work on a laptop (pre-Covid). Cute little hidden patio out beside too!
Great coffee, lovely atmosphere. Disappointing attitude from the curly, black haired barrista. I complimented the fact you carried delicious oat milk, you ignored me. The whole time I tried to make some kind of decent human connection with you, you completely disregarded my existence. I’m not sure what’s going on in your personal life, but I hope you have a better rest to your week.
Little cafe with great coffee and cozy ambiance ????
Consistently some of the best coffee in Vancouver. Worthy of note, the place is hip enough that the staff should b fairly condescending, however, unlike what seems to b the norm with very cool places like this, for yrs, the staff has always been very friendly and down to earth. The place is a real treat. The snacks and bites are slim in variety but exceptional in taste and quality. One would do well to experience this coffee shop.
Stumble upon this little jewel one day. Great coffee beans with reasonable prices. You get a drink discount if you buy a bag of coffee beans. The ladies were super nice and friendly!
Excellent espresso good food and they are open quite early.
Cappuccino was delicious! Staff was nice. I don't like the seating, I don't know why lol but that's the only lack of star!
Yummy cookies
Elysian Coffee has the best coffee in the area, and the proprietor knows his coffee and solicits feedback from the customers. Seltzer water is freely available to patrons. The staff are helpful if not always friendly. There are tables inside, outside in front of the cafe, and outside in a secluded area at the side of the cafe. Having these choices is convenient. Since the coffee of late nite cafes like Waves is not nearly as good as Elysian, I wish they were open after 7 pm every day and not just on Fridays and Saturdays.
This Cafe has a great location that I can quickly stop at before work, the service is fast as well. I've tried their ham sandwich which is delicious as well as the mocha (also really good!). Staff are always friendly
Great staff, great pastries and amazing coffee! Cute little patio to sit on when the weather is nice. Definitely recommend the Scottish Shortbread. Maybe employees are just concerned about the amount of caffeine I ingest, but regardless, offering a glass of still or sparkling water while I wait is a sweet touch.
Amazing coffee. Cozy place. Just a block from the Broadway-Cambie sky train station. Some bites available to enjoy your coffee with.
Everything tasted so good, service was quick and servers very friendly.
Had a yummy cortado here with friends. Some of whom ordered some of the best earl grey tea they had ever tried. Staff were very friendly.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Great coffee and baked goods. Gets seriously busy on the weekend. Was once told there was a 30min wait for a take out latte.
Iced mocha on point
The cafe really "pops" out from the street and made me wander in. It was a good and relaxing place to grab some fresh brew coffee at 7am.
The staff are always wonderful here & I love how they take the time to leave foam designs on their drinks. The coffee has a rich and full taste, never disappoints. The peculiar thing is that Elysian does not have wifi; which definitely caught me by surprise.
Such good coffee and love the little sitting area they have outside in the lane beside the shop. I look forward to trying out their snacks next time.
In general a small space, during this pandemic no sitting inside, but a few tables are outside. The coffee shop is trying their best to implement 'safe' regulations, which is well received by customers. Stuff always ahs been friendly and the coffee is very good. Today I had an Americano. The aromatic smell made me impatient to discover the flavour. It had a strong, somewhat caramel-nutty aroma on the nose. The first sip and second sip did not disappoint-a nutty slight sweet taste on a light acidity. Well done barista!
The coffee is great and the place itself is aesthetically pleasing. Another one of the growing numbers of good places to grab coffee in Van. I have yet to try their pastries.
Good location and good coffee. Ordered their Americano a couple of times and liked the flavour. It had a hint of acid and didn’t leave a bitter aftertaste. I’m not a big fan of overly acidic coffee so their flavours worked well for me. The space is also very nice and always bustling with people.
Just THE best latte.
My favorite coffee shop
A lovely and cosy spot where the banana loaf is amazing (and vegan) and the coffee is great. Soy, oat and almond milks are available too.
Yum yum! Coffee was so tasty! I love when baristas know what they’re doing. Perfect texture, temp, and balanced espresso. Baked goods were really, really good. Great selection, with lots of vegan and gluten free options!
Yummy and lovely!
Great coffee, delicious cookies, portions, sweets are not huge. A large coffee is like a medium or small at other locations. Small space but it's inviting. Staff are great too.
A great cortado and the best, BEST shortbread I have ever had.
Great space, fantastic coffee, friendly staff, clean non-gendered washrooms and no wi-fi! So much easier to concentrate!
Nice Café, I'd come back again. Staff were nice and dressed well. They were also funny and full of energy for how early it was in the morning. My tea was really good I got the Assam they offer and a blueberry muffin. They look intimidating and tough (the muffins) but it was actually super moist and soft, if I lived in the area I would definitely come back. Looks like a good atmosphere to hide and write/pump out a paper. 5/5
Amazing espresso! The menu is simple and they focus on making a really good cup of coffee. The espresso is rich and full of caramel flavour. It's the best espresso I've had in the city so far. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and are skilled at what they do. This is going to be my regular place from now on.
Good coffee & baked goods. Hipster factor high but lots of squares and oldies here too.
Loved my stop here! Delightful little coffee shop, I definitely want to stay for a sandwich sometime!
Friendly staff and good coffee. Not much seating so if you go at a busy time prepare to get and go. Definitely get, though.
The coffee here is consistently good. It can get crowded at times, but it's usually not too difficult to get a table. Music is usually nice and not too loud. Staff is always friendly.
Good coffee! Would return in the future if I'm in the area. Place is kept fairly tidy. Service staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the coffee they offer.
The flat white was excellent. Bold flavour espresso and nicely presented. The scone was tasty but crunchy on the outside was different. A pleasant experience. I will go back next time I’m on Broadway
Best oat latte in the city.
Great little coffee house. I spent a little time there while waiting for my wife to complete her meeting. Staff are quite friendly and it is a very relaxing, chill atmosphere. My only complaint is that I was hoping to get a little work done, however, wifi is not on the menu. For comversation and a great cuppa, check it out!
Great product and service. Lattes taste great consistently and service is prompt and friendly. Would highly recommend.
One of the best coffee houses in the city with a nice selection of pastries to go along side. ...a bit disappointed that they removed the still and sparkling water taps that customers could help themselves to.
Their chai tea was so watery and oily, and not at all affordable.
Quality food and drinks with friendly service
Ordered a latte, it is delicious with perfect foam and latte art. The barista was friendly and gave us a glass of carbonated water which was a bonus! Good atmosphere, good people watching.
the barista in there did not wear masks and we i ask her to do that, she gave me a bunch of excuses and unwillingly put on her mask, and smashed the coffee on the counter. when i am about to leave, she immediately took it off..so unprofessional and unethical to public health. I hate this place
One of the best coffee places in town, and the competition is fierce. Reliably great coffee, often exceptional.
Awesome coffee and surrounded by beautiful people
Great place for a flat white! Great snacks too. I usually get the chocolate chip cookie which is so tasty! Great seating right at the window to people watch. Knowledgeable and delightful baristas.
Great coffee, mocha is great here, and even though the selection of pastry is limited it's good. Plus nice and kind staff.
Not the ultimate espresso, but a very nice one. My wife enjoyed her latte as well.
No wifi---- wish there was a warning before I paid. The tiny latte also feels a polite way to say don't hangout here. But that might be just bias.
Hands down my favorite coffee place in Vancouver. I would highly recommend it to any coffee lovers. They also use a reasonable number of organic ingredients in their baking :)
Arguably the best coffee in Vancouver.
Great coffee. I hate not having access to the water taps anymore. WiFi only available in the late afternoon and there is only one plug in the back corner. You'll have to endure listening to business men ramble on all around you.
I popped in for a morning cuppa. Well, an Americano to be precise. I was disappointed - it was a really light espresso pull so the flavour was very watery and lacked any flavour tones from the beans/roast. It wasn't busy, so I am not sure why the espresso shot was so light.
Best. Coffee. Ever. There are two coffee shops in the city that I absolutely rave about. Elysian is one of those two. The staff are nice, not overly friendly, but nice. And the coffee and atmosphere are great.
Love their oatmilk lattes and yummy treats
Super hip coffee shop serving well brewed coffee. It's not noisey, but has the right mix of people grabbing coffee so it's not too quiet. Perfect for informal one on one meetings.
Elysian is consistently one of Vancouver's top tier coffee shops. Still doing an excellent job after all these years.
Cute café with nice ambience and decor. 4/5 rating because they don’t have wifi. Baristas were friendly and cheerful. Location is convenient (4 minute walk from city hall skytrain station). Coffee is moderately priced though the menu is limited (I am more of a tea drinker than coffee).
Very friendly staff. Great place to have a coffee on your own or in a group. Skilled Barristas.
Great coffee, nice staff and good window bar. Would happily return.
My opinion? ‘Tis the best coffee beans in the neighbourhood! Keeping it simple and satisfying with high quality pours and goodies. This little shop is killing it. Topped off with really talented and lovely worker bees :-) thanks Elysian!
The coffee was superb. Very smooth and sophisticated blend. Breakfast sandwich was better than homemade. Excellent service. A very nice breakfast experience.
Beautiful atmosphere. Great classical music. Good beans. But no pourovers.
Great coffee, nice assortment of snacks and friendly staff. Another high end coffee shop well worth a visit.
The flat white today was awesome! Great place!
Always delicious ???? Great atmosphere???? Pastries and caffeine ???????????? Fabulous people watching too - as well as traffic and pedestrian watching ???? Like my review? Give me a thumbs up ????
Delicious coffee, almond milk and chocolate walnut cookies. Wish they'd bring back their dark chocolate cookie.
Delicious espresso. You have a choice of sitting indoors and outdoors.
Nice place, friendly staff and great service.
Great coffee and dessert. Modern atmosphere and friendly staff.
Always a great cup of coffee. This time had a cappuccino and shortbread.
Always good coffee, great customer service and their baked goods are so yummy!
Second time here, forgot why I did not want to head back after my first experience. On the positive side, the coffee is okay. I had a latte and the flavour was smooth if not as strong as I prefer. A bit too much milk foam (slightly light) but that is also a matter preference. The staff were friendly. I remember from last time that I didn't like that the store does not provide wall plugs or WiFi. They also didn't have any heat on which I found peculiar. I don't think I will be returning.
But more spacious than the 5th Ave location which I tend to frequent more, this one feels less judge-y to sit in with you laptop due to the extra seating. Good coffee, and pastry treats!
Delicious espresso and skillful pours. I enjoyed a Cortado. I will likely visit them again, as the location is super convenient and the service was excellent. The selection of beans looked good too. Definitely worth another visit!
Great place to have one of the best coffees' in Vancouver and make good conversation.
Usually love Elysian but it’s 9:30 on a Friday and the staff won’t open up. Maybe it’s holiday hours but I see them in there eating from their to-go brunch containers And laughing away, hoarding all that coffee in there.
Shop is very nice, friendly + tons of seats. Coffee is good. Almond milk lattee was ok. Have had better at other shops
Wow, great coffee! Smooth organic almond milk. Modern clean design, calming music and cool vibe.
Good coffee. I don't know why they are classified as a work cafe though as they don't have any wifi. Would recommend heading somewhere else if you want a place to work remotely.
Always a pleasure. Great coffee during my Vancouver stays
Convenient location on Broadway near the SkyTrain station. Simply furnished, cute cafe. The lady who served me was friendly and the coffee came out quickly because there was no lineup even though the seats were mostly taken. I enjoyed my soy latte a lot as it was exactly how I like it: smooth and rich, not at all acidic. We also tried their chocolate chip cookie, which has a nice crunch on the edges but was chewy in the middle. Prices are too expensive for me to have on a daily basis (latte is $4.75, cookie $2.75 plus tax) but is a nice place to enjoy the occasional treat with a friend.
Great, small coffee shop. They have vegan options for baked goods (raspberry almond muffin, banana chocolate loaf, etc) along with plant milk options including oat, almond and soy. The espresso is high quality and the baristas have a high skill proficiency.
So so yummy
A coffee shop without Wifi? It's the most pretentious Vancouver offering I've visited to date. Loved the chocolate chip walnut cookies!
Lovely cafe. Didn’t get 5 stars as they didn’t have vanilla for the London fog and the shortbread could have been more buttery. Otherwise nice staff, quick service, different options to sit; tables or high table looking out the front window.
Love this place. Pretty busy at times, but if you get a seat you can nibble on your treats, sip your choice of beverage and enjoy hundreds of old national geographic magazines
Great shop and cool community vibe. Perfect for a day of solo work however it is quite loud so may present a challenge for discussion depending on time of say. Coffee is on point.
I make sure I stop by every time when I’m in the area. I used to buy their coffee beans too and my whole room smells delicious when I opened the package.
Excellent coffee, good selection of small pastries. Also sell small batches of house roasts. I had a latte and a chocolate walnut cookie.
Great coffee & staff
They gave me my coffee but they did not have sugar or sweetner, pricy for no reason
Five stars for the coffee while 1 for the baked good. Coffee is always excellent but the berry “scone” is best left behind. The berry scone here is like a doughy cold tasteless muffin top. We’ve had other baked goods here and always good. Best if they mention to their bakery supplier that these are not scones and replace with something else.
Fun atmosphere to sit and drink a coffee. Little expensive but makes for a nice change!
My best cafe is here ;)) also she made my latte who is brown color medium hair. It's really great!! I will come again❤︎
Good coffee and service.
Great coffee, and a fun spot to sit and people watch
Surprisingly good. It is not the best cup of coffee that I have ever had, but still nice. The small shop is well maintained and the latte designs are well done
The espresso I had was a bit watery. The black furniture next to the wall needs some maintenance. The personnel is very nice and professional.
Hipsters seem to love this place, but I find the coffee average and the customer service was pretty awful when I went there a couple of times. Arrogant and unfriendly. I did not find the environment or patrons to be the warm/friendly type of place - quite pretentious. On the pricey side as well.
Although the space is a bit small and there isn’t much space to sit or move around in, their coffee is fantastic. They definitely do their mocha right, one size done to perfection. They have a variety coffees and daily specials. This place is definitely the best coffee shop in the area. I would highly recommend a visit here.
One of the best in town. The freshly roasted coffee beans are a great way to escape from super market coffees.
Nice vibe, pretty cup, good coffee, and friendly staff.
Pro: Nice little place, pastries and coffee taste delicious Con: a little bit overpriced and 0.75c extra for plant-based milk in 2021 - not cool!
They would definitely get a 5Star if it wasn't for the fact that they are making the unfortunate decision of not accepting cash. I will not be returning until they do; I cannot support a business that refuses to accept legal tender. Top notch coffee, service and treats though! Hopefully when I call in next to check, they've changed their policy.
Good coffee...a little too pricey for my purposes
Lovely staff, great coffee and lots of plants - what's not to love?
Great coffee, good size and comfortable cafe for drink-in and I love that they offer you still or sparkling water from behind the bar. Only criticism is that the water glass could be bigger.
One of the better places in Vancouver to get your coffee
Great space! Staff was friendly and the café was clean. There was even a hook under the bar for my purse. Coffee was perfect :)
Unexpectedly great ham and cheese sandwich!
They make average coffee, except decaf which is very sour and their cookies are overpriced! The space is too small and some of the staff are too rude! Also, their washroom is very dirty and disgusting! I Will not come back or recommend it to friends! They deserve a negative star if there was such an option!
great spot!
I love their coffee! Awesome customer service! Glad I'm living closer now, so I can get to try their different coffee beans and goodies. Their walnut chocolate chip cookies are to die for ????
Yum
Delicious artisan coffee!
So great, really nice calm atmosphere. Its still during the pandemic when I write this and there is some outside seating. I'll look forward to sitting inside again in the future. They specialize in coffee, some pastries, and toasted sandwiches. Theres a bathroom for customers.
One of the best mochas I've had in Vancouver. Pity I couldn't see any cup holders, as I bought multiple coffees and struggled to carry them/open the door. Very pretty cups too!
Another cute little coffee shop - stopped in here really quick to have a coffee while we waited to be called for to the brunch spot next door.
Smoothest espresso iced latte I’ve had ever (and I have had a lot!) it was almost a shame I had to mix it down. ????. Very hipster decor and staff. Selection of baked goods is very limited or overly curated, dunno.
We come here almost once a week on weekends, and usually enjoy a nitro cold brew and a latte, the coffee is pretty tasty, but taste varies as each time they use a different coffee. There is usually space for our stroller, but it can get busy. No wifi is a negative, however we come to enjoy our family time together so it doesn't matter. Not as quiet as the average Starbucks, but much quieter than similar hipster coffeehouses.
Good coffee, with even better cookies. Not a lot of options for the non-coffee lovers - which is unfortunately the camp I fall into and probably why I don't properly appreciate what a great brew Elysian makes. Great little patio seating area outside. Lack of well distributed plug-ins for the laptop carrier, charge ahead!
Not bad, but don't get the almond milk unless you like that sour milk taste.
Recently I visited Elysian for my pre cancer hormone shot coffee. As you can appreciate that is a somewhat stressfull experience. Well on that particular day TD Bank had crashed and I could not use my debit card. The young woman serving me took it all in stride and told me not to worry, but to enjoy my coffee and muffin (both delicious). Today was another hormone shot day. I was able to drop by and enjoy another delicious coffee and muffin combo, and place a bill in the tip jar! Great place in every way!!!
Staff are very friendly, beverages and food are great. Really cool place to hang out with a friend(s), but there is no WiFi, so that is something to keep in mind. Otherwise, really cool stop.
Came for breakfast and a coffee at 10am on a Sunday and the place was closed... no sign or anything! Opening hours state 7-7 everyday.. but clearly not today.
The only good think about this place is the outside sitting area .
Love their hazelnut cookie. I usually get the latte here. Staff is a hit or miss. Sometimes they're really friendly and sometimes you feel like you did something wrong.. overall, worth trying if you are a coffee lover
A cozy little cafe with delectable drinks and food, as well as prompt and courteous service. I eagerly anticipate my next visit.
The coffee is great, but warning they don't have wifi.
A chill place to enjoy a coffee. Lattes are always great, and the pastries are tasty. Service is friendly. My go to in this neighbourhood.
Coffee is not bad, but I have had much better (lol see Yelp reviews and more!). Had filter (4/5), americano (3/5) which tasted kinda watery and “flat white”, which they seem to make like a latte. The first one was made up to 12oz (not 5, max 6 oz). Certainly doesn’t taste like double ristretto either, but I could be wrong. Staff seem nice, trendy looking place that’s always rammed. Absolute rip off though. I was charged $4.75 for a flat white. Even for VAN that’s steep. Plenty of better roasters and coffee bars in town.
Coffee was ok! Busy place with lots of regulars or people on the go. Staff were ok I guess can’t expect people to be happy early morning all the time. Street parking.
