I went to the Symposium Cafe tonight with my sister in law. I ordered the Sesame Thai Chicken wrap, after asking to sample the sauce. When I received the wrap 40 minutes after ordering, I noticed the sauce was more of a ranch. I waited for my server to come back but he didn't until we were done, I didn't eat the wrap. I asked for a manager and when she came over I explained what happened. She proceeded to tell me that he brought the wrong sauce for me to try, they always mix it with something else (didn't even get explained what the something else was) and that they only use a little of what he brought out. She also informed me that it's been that way for 5 years and next time don't order it. Needless to say I won't be ordering anything else as I won't be returning. Then she went over to the server and chewed him out for what happened in front of everyone. I felt so bad for him that I left him a nice tip even though his service left something to be desired.

Went with my mom about a month ago. We ordered soups and the Spinach dip. Not overly impressed with the food here. The spinach dip was not hot enough and the carrots in it were raw. Soup was meh.

Terrible....and order of 2 burgers and a breakfast took almost an hour to be served. This was only after asking wait staff where our lunch was, and having watched my burger sit under the heat lamps for more than 20min. We only aye because we were hungry and had waited long enough as is. I was given an excuse that there was a table of 12....it had been served within 15min of us sitting down. The fact they are trying to use this as an excuse is brutal after I looked at our meals under the heat lamps at the pass for more than 20min. Manager was clueless and not doing any thing to help her staff or direct them. To top it off it was a mediocre burger for the $14 price tag that came with it. Keep going this way and you'll become another failed restaurant state.

Came here for dinner ???? wasn’t too bad but everything is quite overpriced, and food portions not worth it for the price. 19$ chicken parm and the chicken was smaller than my fist ????????. Not too bad service but server had a semi difficult time with splitting our bills at the end, would have been easier to ask before bringing the bill out but not that big of a deal. Would come back maybe once in a while or so.

Came here because of the number of high reviews. However, was very very disappointed with their food. The flatbread was undercooked, really tough, lacked toppings, worse than what I could've made at home. The eggs benedict with peameal bacon was extremely bland, and the bacon tasted like it was made 2 days ago and just reheated. Paid just $40 for a meal that I think tasted like $15.

Staff was very friendly. Our server Jake was very good. Food was delicious, both me and my wife had Eggs Benedict and it was probably one of the best Eggs Benedict in Barrie. Price was a little more than other same type restaurants but was definately worth it.

I’ve been here twice now and the only thing I’m overly impressed by is their sangrias . Each time I’ve asked to not have mushrooms in my meal and each time I’ve got them and had to pick them out . The service has always been good but it always takes a lot longer than I’d expect, both times I’ve gone it hasn’t been busy either . Good place for drinks and maybe some apps but that’s about it .

my boyfriend and i went for lunch what looked to be the manger tried to make my drink order. A virgin strawberry daiquiri and she put Cesar salt on it and then proceeded to tell me I was wrong. we proceeded to order i had the chicken Caesar wrap and my boyfriend had a steak wrap. When the wraps got to the table my boyfriend had started eating and there was two small strips of COLD steak in his wrap. Overall i would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

This is my go to place when I want a good meal. I've brought family and friends here and have been a regular since it opened. It has a diverse but not overly complicated menu and the service is phenomenal. I've had their Monday burger about 20 times now and every time they cook it to perfection. I've had steak, took my father there for father's day, took visiting relatives from Ireland to breakfast there and have sampled their desert case more times than I care to admit. I have never had a bad meal. You won't be disappointed.

Staff was friendly and service was good but the kitchen was too slow. After waiting for a good while for our food, it didn't meet our expectations. The only hot thing was the potatoes. The English muffin and bacon were hard and the flat bread was cold and undercooked.

Nicely decorated is the only positive thing I can say. Went to put mayo on my clubhouse. Thank god I did. Lettuce was brown. Prefab turkey. Yuck. Manager blamed heating lamps for burning the rusty looking lettuce. How can it burn if it has toast over it? Hubby's meal wasn't much better. Tiny portions on giant plates. My husband wasn't full and to make a second lunch. Waitress never checked to see if everything was ok. Bench seating was very uncomfortable. like sitting on plywood. Expensive if your not full afterward. I would not recommend this place to anyone.AVOID!!!

Our meal was excellent, the portions were very generous, and the desserts are unbelievable. One piece of cake would be enough to give four people a nice sized portion and feel a little less guilty. Our server Bianca was amazing, we never had to ask for anything, she just always seemed to be there. If you are going with a larger group of people, reservations are a must!

Fine Italian style dining/Cafe vibe. I personally had the fettuccine Alfredo and was very pleased with it, there was a hint of basil and that strong rich creamy full flavor sauce. Ingrid was our server and she was absolutely lovely. I would recommend this spot!

Food was good, but compared to other symposiums with better service, I'd rather go elsewhere. Servers don't seem to know the specials that well, we were offered a deal only to find out later from the manager that you actually had to buy drinks and an app for it to be applicable. Thankfully we were not charged for the miscommunication, but this combined with poor serving skills and lengthy time to get our meal is what brings this down to a 3/5 for me.

Sadly, what was once good has not maintained past performance. Maybe just out of practice with the Pandemic, or staff to be retrained. At 2:00 pm, a brunch menu was heavy on Breakfast fare. Even when ordering a burger, sautéed mushrooms were swapped for the sautéed onions ordered with zero offer to address issue when mentioned. Sad, dried out fries were an appropriate accompaniment. My companions Chicken Parm sandwich ‘looked’ like the better choice. Never did get the last request for a water glass refill. Will try again, maybe, after a few months of their practice.

Absolutely phenomenal experience here at Symposium Barrie! Staff was very accommodating and delightful. I have never felt so welcomed at an establishment before! Food was absolutely outstanding, as a food critic I was flabbergasted at the explosion of flavor and found that experience to be refreshing and rejuvenating. The salads were a breath of fresh air and their burgers, both affordable and a symphony of flavor. Let me say, if anyone desires to eat mesmerizing food that will honestly give them a purpose in life, Symposium Barrie is THE way to go.

Went with 2 other people for brunch today. We ordered a spinach dip which was so disgusting we did not eat it. There was a layer of oil sitting on top of the dish. We just decided not to eat it and not say anything to the server. I ordered eggs Benedict, which came out with salmon on it (I am allergic). The waitress did not come back to the table to check on the food until the rest of the group were finished their meals. I let the server know that I had received the wrong meal and she said "you ordered salmon". I stated I did not, because I have an allergy but mistakes happen. At this time, we decided to mention the spinach dip as well and the server replied "I know, I don't like it either" and walked away. 15 min later I still had not received the proper meal and we were eager to leave. I let the manager know that I did not need the meal anymore and that we would just take the bills. The manager then came back to our table and said "it seems like you ordered the salmon", I again mentioned I am allergic and that I did not. I did not appreciate being blamed for a simple mistake. I understand these things happen, I also work in the service industry. The staff at the restaurant were seen visibly starring and speaking about us, there was only 1 more table in the restaurant. The food did not meet expectations and the service was absolutely brutal.

This is the second time this year I've had bad service. The booths are falling apart and when I mentioned it to the manager he brushed it off. I had breakfast with some old friends and the service was less than acceptable. The waitress came back at the end of the meal and asked us to repeat our order...which was odd. And when I asked for a favor she said "No. I don't have time! Did you want a picture? Sorry, I have food that needs to be delivered and tables to wait on" Never had that before. HOWEVER..... Been to the Symposium in Ancaster a few times.....AMAZING service and very friendly staff, and a cleaner place too.

We went for Lunch on the 22 June 2021 even with the cool weather on the patio it was a chance to eat at restaurant during Covid. The first think I notice is how all the prices were up considerably since before covid. I ordered their Symposium burger which is suppose to be two 4 once patties and came with salad . When the food arrived I noticed it was only a single patty after taking a bite i asked the waitress why it only had a single patty she said no I put the order in as a double would I like the the double and I said yes. While waiting for what I assumed was a new burger that I ordered I ate the salad and left the burger. After about 10 minutes the waitress returned with a cooked hamburger patty not the whole burger when questioned she thought everything was ok even with the other burger now cold. I spoke to the manager who didn’t think there was a problem and when I advised I wasn’t paying she advised she was only charging me for single burger. To make matters worse the burger was terrible it certainly was not all beef not sure what kind of meat was in it. I will not be returning to this restaurant and I suggest you find another one as well.

My friend had the steak bites and fries. The steak was ok, fries needed to be cooked longer. The cook forgot the coleslaw, which was a meager serving, 2/3 of the small bowl. When plated they put two small pieces of romaine on plate, no veg. I had the chicken pad Thai. They forgot the chicken!!! So they brought out grilled chicken sliced up as a side dish. Chicken should be in the pad thai soaking up the flavors. The pad Thai was good. We waited a rather long time for the server to even ask what we'd like to drink and there was only one other couple there, so it wasn't busy. The covid protocol was followed. We were thinking a new inexperienced cook was on duty. I might go back and give them another chance, as we used to like going there.

I ordered off skip the dishes a treat for myself for my bday. I'm on odsp so rarely ever treat myself but spent the last of my money on a $55 breakfast. They didn't have what i ordered and as supposed to remove when isn't available the restaurant didn't. Than I called to restaurant to explain the situation and they just said is a skip issue. Have no words to explain how depressing it is when that was all was doing for my bday and all i could afford. Now is toast for breakfast. Wow wow wow this place is horrible

Great food and great experience!!! We always get great services!!! Today I was with my friends and something unusual happened, Uber and doordash guys started fighting and they also gave trouble to the lady who was working there. One of them started recording her without her permission. The lady was really polite but the guy was disrespectful and continued to record her without consent. This was the first time I saw something like that but I really was happy and impressed to see the politeness and calmness of the lady.

The food was decent, but the service was abysmal. It took my colleague and I over 30 minutes to get our food, when the restaurant was not that busy, and in that time, our server did not once check in on us. We had to flag her down to ask about our food, and when she finally brought it out, we had to ask for takeout containers and the bills right away. It took us another 10 minutes to get the takeout containers, and inbetween, we saw her serving and bringing drinks to other tables. Only when we were paying did she offer any apology (and it was insincere on top of that). Horrendous experience. We will not be coming back to the Cambridge location.

We had Lauri as our server, very knowledgeable, friendly and didn't rush us. Even tho the patio is close to the road, you would never know it. They have a nice fence around their patio which acts like a sound barrier. There is the right amount of sun & shade on the patio as well. I would call a head to make reservations so as to not be disappointed. Sundays are a fabulous day to go for their brunch menu! Yummy ????. They are open 8-11 most days. We were there Canada Day, I had the Marinated Mteak Bites with French Fries and my cousin, she had the Chicken Souvlaki with Rice & Greek Salad not to mention a Bloody Caesar & a Mojito.

Got the menus pressed in our hand and they told us to pick a spot and they took off. Once we ordered I asked for my soup before the main course. The soup was OK (would not order again) but the main course arrived in less than 1 minute after receiving the soup. Ridiculous. Ended up eating both my soup and my main cold. My friends ordered something that was supposed to be hand breaded. Everyone could see that this is not the case, it was processed meat. What you're getting for the price, it's definitely not worth it! And it's so sad because 2 years ago, all of us really enjoyed it. Feeling that it was worth the money. Not anymore.

I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl and the rice tasted musty, the sauce was burnt bitter taste and the vegetables were cold. I could not eat the food and basically left the whole thing in the bowl and told the waitress the food wasn't good. She said she will let the kitchen staff know and then proceeded to get my bill. She did not ask to replace it or take it off the bill. Not sure If I will visit this place again. The Flatbread bruschetta wasn't bad.

My daughter is on a Keto diet and thoroughly enjoyed the thick strip loin steak done to perfection along with veggies that were done perfectly and a caesar salad. Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Where else can you get a very good, complete breakfast for 2 for well under 20 bucks (taxes and tip included) if you order from the early bird menu. We also tried their 5 dollar burger special on Mondays. Again, awesome value as you get an 8 ounce burger perfectly done, and now they sell wings which were very good too. Pints were only 5 bucks too (can't complain about that!) The service is always prompt and friendly from all the staff that we encounter. The owner Julie is also very nice and friendly. We enjoy going there very much!

I'll give this place a 7.5 out of 10. It's a half decent restaurant with pretty decent food. I find the pricing a little off to the portions your given. I paid $20+ for a chicken parmigiana with pasta dish . The price should be around $18 max. The portion is way too small. The desserts on the other hand are the best part about the place. One thing I found wrong last time I was there is the carrot cake was not fresh...please when charging high prices make sure the cakes are fresh.

In late December 2018, my wife and I joined friends for lunch at the Symposium Café on King George Rd in Brantford. As my wife had recently eaten at Symposium Café in Waterloo and enjoyed herself, I was excited to try for myself. Service was pretty quick in getting seated and having our order taken. I was looking forward to my Turkey Bacon Club sandwich but the food took some time to come from the kitchen even though the restaurant did not seem particularly busy at the time. Eating my sandwich, all I kept thinking was that this REALLY tastes like a BLT sandwich. After my second bite, I opened my sandwich only to find that there was absolutely NO turkey meat in my sandwich. This is a pretty simple sandwich and how the kitchen staff can overlook placing the turkey meat is beyond me! Once I alerted the waiter, she replaced my order with a sandwich as it should have been but it took some time. I will also note that I was disappointed that the turkey meat was processed rather than true turkey. The waiter apologized for the kitchen but it still does not explain the oversight. On top of all that, I was rushing to finish my lunch while all my tablemates had long completed theirs. I think it would have been nice gesture if management had offered a discount on my lunch considering the inconvenience. Overall, I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with my lunch experience at Symposium Café in Brantford.

Omg this location is amazing. We celebrated my mom's 60th here we had 25 people and the service was fabulous! They allowed us to bring our own cake and gave us boxes for left overs, they were kind to every one and very attentive! Marty and Marissa went above and beyond for us! Chorizo & Poblano Frittata: Love this! Chorizo is one of my favorites when it comes to breakfast food. It just adds a great kick and spice to jumpstart your day! We were staying in the Comfort Inn which is right next door so Symposium became a go to place. The breakfasts were very good with endless coffee. We were able to stay on and do some work. Meals were fresh, generous and well prepared. The restaurant boasts a fantastic array of lovely cakes and we enjoyed the chocolate feast called Tabu. Most importantly was the very friendly service. The staff were great and made our visits to Symposium happy ones.

First time we went to Symposium we had a nice experience. We were looking forward to going back a second time. My boyfriend ordered a pasta dish and I ordered a wrap with a side of caesar salad. My salad was drenched in dressing so I sent it back and got the Greek salad (which was equally disappointing- but kept it anyways). The wrap was so small for the price - it seemed like a wrap you could pick up from zehrs pre- made food. Was incredibly disappointing. My boyfriend LOVES spice. His pasta was so spicy he could only eat half of his dish - and he couldn't even taste what he was eating because of the overwhelming spice (normally he eats all of his and half of mine). No where on the menu did it mention anything about how spicy it was! Even though we expressed the disappointment- the waitress said "she will let the chef know for next time" .. no discount was given off our bill even though it was clear we were agitated and not happy with our food. Disappointing- and was a waste of money. We might have gone back if we were accommodated for our disappointment. But because of this experience we will not be returning.

I wish I could rate this place in the negatives. If you plan on going here make sure you clear your whole day. My friends and I went to Symposium for breakfast. We got there at 11am and we didn’t get our food until 1pm, there was only 6 people in the place. We ordered eggs and toast...There was one waitress who we had to ask to take our order after 40 mins and weren’t even offered a drink let alone some water. After the wait we got our food, there was no breakfast potatoes and our food was cold. The manager said he would give us a discount which was appreciated, but when it came down to paying he never did and then said “I told you twice I was sorry, what do you want me to do ?”, lol maybe get it together.

I went for dessert to the cafe. The atmosphere was that not of a cafe. The hostess ranted about how terrible mothers day was in terms of busyness. The dessert I ordered was crepes brownies and ice cream. The crepes were formed to be bowls with a crispy tops (eww), the ice cream was ok and the brownies tasted like they came straight out of a package and placed on the plate. The chocolate sauce tasted like nesquik syrup. It was gross. The server we had was nice. She did a good job.

I've been here a few times and while I enjoy the atmosphere/environment; I have not enjoyed the food or service. Ordered breakfast (bacon/eggs/hashbrowns) each time and the eggs are ALWAYS extremely greasy. On our last visit, the waitress asked why I didn't eat my food and I explained it was because it was covered in grease. She acknowledged that the cooks had been told not to use so much butter etc when cooking but they just keep doing it. Then after admitting fault, continued to charge for the plate of mostly untouched food. (Maybe 4 bites total taken). Probably won't be returning.

Have been there twice now. Food is hit or miss. I had ordered the spinach dip for take out and was very disappointed as it stated on their menu topped with feta and cheddar cheese and what I received was my spinach dip with a slice of processed cheese on top; processed sliced cheese is not cheddar cheese and is quite gross to be honest (luckily I was able to just peel it off because processed cheese doesn't melt). (When the photo shows apx 20) I got 1/2 a egg sliced up. (Not the 2 eggs shown) I got one small breast sliced into 8 slivers. When photo shows twice as much. I got no feta. (As shown). No red cabbage. (As shown) . No green onion. No seeds. No croutons. Nothing else !! Just the basic basics. That I would pay 1/2 as much for. I got one teaspoon of bacon bits. I had to dig to find a bacon bit in all the lettuce. Very disappointing. I’ve never had anything like this small 5 basic item Cobb salad . .. for $30. ? If they spent $2 on ingredients to make the salad better & the customer possibly happy. I would maybe return !

Us 65+ people, went there for breakfast. Would rather have had 2 full size eggs than 3 mini eggs. The potatoes were McCaine seasoned, deep fried type. Would rather have had boiled and griddle fried potatoes. No Tomato or Orange slice either. Total with tax and tip came to $ 28.00. That's a little steep. I doubt that this chain will attract Barrie people as other restaurants cater to what we missed here. Will not be back.

We always stop here for a meal whenever we are in Lindsay. The food is always great. Our waitress is usually Roxanne. She actually remembers us whenever we come in. Had steak and eggs today, the steak was really good. Ordered some cake to take home because they have the best cake anywhere around the kawartha. (I'm not kidding, it's amazing). Just noticed they also deliver. Will definitely go back. Say hi to Roxanne.

My spouse and I visited on 8/24 as it is connected to the hotel we stayed at. We just wanted a light snack so I ordered a purple haze martini (which was fantastic), and my husband ordered a beer. We decided on the wing and spinach dip special. The wings were lacking enough sauce to coat them fully, although they were hot and not dry on the inside. The spinach dip, on the other hand, was not pleasant. The spinach was not coarsley chopped, but just whole leaves. I'm not sure if cream cheese was used as a base, but it definietly needed more of it. There was minimal bits of shredded cheese scattered around, along with 2 triangle slices of american cheese 'melted' on top. It lacked a substational amount of flavour - no garlic, no artichoke etc. Although the service was somewhat friendly, we did think it was quite slow (there were only 2-3 other tables besides us); we were not checked on until the end of our meal. I would not return to this establishment based on this experience.

Nice atmosphere! The waiting staff was friendly and the food was served in a timely manner. I ordered the grilled veggie wrap for lunch with broccoli cheddar soup on the side. It was tasty and filling. My friend had a chicken ceasar wrap and fries which she said was also good. The fries were golden brown and crispy. Both meals were around $15. I'd recommend this restaurant and will return next time that I'm in the area.

The service was absolutely lovely the server was very kind and very sweet. We loved out breakfast. I loved that the server explained that they only bring out a little bit of the neccessary condiments because they throw out everything for safe practice during these times. It was nice place to go and have a coffee and either study or sit with friends... until the owners decided to add a $30 minimum charge for anyone who wants to come in. Especially when right next door, there is a Sushi restaurant that doesn’t even charge that much for all you can eat. Not sure who came up with this decision, but it doesn’t seem to be a very good one. Funny thing is, there were two customers in the whole restaurant, not like they were at maximum capacity, but still got turned away because I did not want to pay the $30 for a minimum charge. With that being said, I always appreciated when Jonathan, Rhonda, and the ladies would treat me good and provide me with good service... sadly it’s not enough to for me pay $30 per visit. Linda is a different story... she needs to learn how to talk to customers, her approach and communication was very weak. She seems to be very negative and stalk up... the owners might want to consider putting her in a different position, since she cannot seem to bring customers in but rather push them away.

The food was outstanding and was obviously made by people who love their place of work. Kayla our sever went above and beyond to make sure our visit and Dinning experience was enjoyable. My mother and I ordered take out here Saturday night at 11pm after work since we were staying at the Best Western hotel. We get to our hotel room, open our containers to find the worst chicken quesadilla. There was nothing in it. We shared the grilled mushrooms and zucchini which was a tastleless wet mess. It wasn't grilled and the zucchini was a grated pile of slop. We also had the mussel linguine which had four mussels in it with canned spaghetti sauce. We wanted the French onion soup but they only had broccoli soup left. I didn't like it so I didn't eat my soup but my mom did and ate all of hers. We had a cup of tea while we waited for our food which came to $8. The service was good I suppose because as we were getting in our car to leave the server ran out to give us our small house salad that he forgot. The total bill came to $80. The next day at work my mom came down with food poisoning. Thank god I didn't eat the soup.

First thing's first: this is not a café. This is almost a fine dining restaurant. Let's get that clear. My sister and mom raved about this place so i was excited to eat here for lunch one day - neither my mom or I were very impressed. The service was excellent - i believe our server was named Roxanne - she was very patient and helpful and offered to put a discount on our meal since we weren't very pleased; we got our food remarkably fast and it looked delicious - and that's where the praise ends. The food was okay. Just okay, and for around 8 eighty dollars you don't really want 'just okay' food. It was certainly pretty but didn't live up to the visuals. My mom noted that the flatbread looked and tasted burned yet was barely warm when it was served to us, as well as that it was oily. The calamari tasted almost like imitation crab but at the very least it wasn't soggy. It was served on a piece of lettuce that was obviously just there for decoration. My eggs in my Eggs Benedict were overcooked, the hollandaise sauce began to stick to itself like glue minutes after it being brought out, the bacon felt and tasted exactly like the "crispy bacon" you buy in boxes to microwave and was extremely greasy. My side of bacon was also served on a piece of (wilted) lettuce and once we had removed the bacon there was a pool of oil on the bottom. Out of all of my food the fries were by far the best thing we had been served. I forgot to request ketchup for them though but that's on me. My mom stated that even her burger was just "okay" and her cream of broccoli soup was honestly more water than cream. I don't mean to write such a strong review but if not for my mom having had good experiences twice before at dinner than i wouldn't consider going back. My mom and i were both looking forward to it and it let us down. It seemed to me that when it comes to lunch they focus more on presentation over any kind of flavor. I hope if i go there again my experience is better next time. I appreciate our waitress being so understanding and doing her best to make it even a little better. Better luck next time, Symposium.

My first experience here about a month ago was fantastic! Was so impressed that I persuaded my boyfriend to reserve us a table for Valentine’s Day dinner and was extremely disappointed!! We both ordered the soup (which was OK) but then waited over 45 minutes for our main dish (surf & turf with chimmichurry sauce) When it finally came, it was cold, there was no shrimp, (when we got the shrimp it was over cooked and tasted like plastic), the “chimmichurry” wasn’t a sauce but rather just diced red onions and whole herbs sitting on top of overdone/burnt steak, and the potatoes where solid and bland....dessert was OK. Also, the peach Bellini which I had ordered was overflowing and went everywhere and was sickly sweet. Our waitress was nice but seemed overwhelmed and forgot about my boyfriend’s refill twice and seemed to be avoiding us....In total this meal came to $95!!!!! Ridiculously overpriced and completely ruined our Valentine’s Day!! Should have walked out! Never returning.

Horrible experience second time in a row visiting this location. Although we were only one out of three customers at this restaurant, we still had bad service. The apps we ordered arrived cold to our table (not the greatest food either). I had asked for a side of plum sauce and the waiter drops it on my plate and had touched my food with his hand, grossss. We also asked for Tabasco sauce that he brought over after waiting 10 minutes or so. The decor was so disturbing to look at. Old looking and dirty. We were not impressed and so turned off by the atmosphere. We will never return to this location again.

2 for 1 cake days are always a treat! Sundays can't be beat! There were 3 of us so we had three different cakes. All were fresh and rich. The caramel brownie was a big hit! Our server was just adorable and so nice! I wish we had gotten her name because she deserves a shout out. I've never had bad service at this location though so GO !

Had a Great dinner here on the patio the other Night. Our group of 4 decided with the reopening we would go out for dinner someplace. my Girlfriend really enjoyed the symposium cafe that was in London, however it’s closed now, so we decided to make the Trip to Cambridge. The Service was super friendly and professional. Our server was new to the restaurant and we were notified of that once we were seated. Even though she was new, she did a excellent Job. She was prompt in taking our orders and she got everything correct with no mistakes. There was also another experienced server who kept checking on us to ensure everything was good. We had a bruschetta bread as a appetizer which was delusions. I had a chuck burger and fries, both were fresh and delicious! My Girlfriend had a Grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries which was also good. After our entree we each selected a different dessert, so many to choose from and they were all really good. Would definitely recommend for a date night out!

We found the manager to be very obnoxious with her staff actually more of a bully i would say, hard to believe the owner would allow bullying to happen in their establishment given all thats been addressed to this matter on the internet, if we had not already ordered ,we would have walked out , this person should NOT be in this position and her actions actually put a bad taste in our mouths and we will not return.

Hello, I work at symposium and I assure everyone that we do not reuse our menus. I work breakfast 5 days a week and the menus are always thrown out after leaving a table. Also, tables and chairs are sanitized after every use. There is hand sanitizer located at different areas within the restaurant.

Currently here, waiting for our supper. Its been a long wait but we are happy to sit and chat because we know the foods amazing. Our waitress is amazing...we haven’t really even had a chance to chat though because she is the only one working...again, we are happy sitting here chatting...but watching this poor woman be run off her feet while the manager ( slothy sam? ) Seems to be walking in slow circles around the restaurant picking up items from dirty tables and collecting them on another table. “Sam” then proceeds to wash the tables with the same paper table, spreading around all the goodness that was left behind. AND THEN... this amazing waitress is not only taking orders, serving patrons...but now she is clearing off the massive pile of dirty dishes sammy left behind. I know that times are hard and we are all getting use to a different speed...stopping to smell the roses...but COME ON...help a girl out SAMMY!!

Cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. Came after a long day at a CFL game in Hamilton and was welcomed by a warm knowledgeable staff. They were able to host 8 of us right away. Great food options. Server took the time to give recommendations on what this location is known for. Enjoyed the décor – will come again! Still reading? Had a chai latte (cinnamon on top, tasted great), had the salmon with pesto as a main (couldn’t get enough of the sauce!) and started with a cream of broccoli soup (shared, enough for two). Portions were just right, so couldn’t fit dessert in but I’m told they have great pastries (the display did look amazing). One of our meals had been left off the order by accident but no problem there: the atmosphere facilitated by the staff had already been so great we had no issues with this and the server was very apologetic and ensured to make this right. Bathrooms were large and clean. Ceilings are high. Patio looked like a good place to be if it hadn’t been raining. There are multiple large TVs playing sports if that’s what you’re into. Overall it was a fun experience as a family and we’ll have to make our way back for date night Thursdays!

Three strikes...your out. Not sure what everyone is saying about this restaurant. My mother and I went when it first opened...not impressed, thought maybe opening jitters. Went a second time for lunch was even worse. Last week went for Sunday breakfast and it was horrible, eggs Benedict were cold,over cooked and even the English muffin was stale and NOT EVEN TOASTED. My mother's omelette was a joke she didn't eat it, the homefries were glorified French fries and I'm certain the hollandaise was packaged. Will never go back...ever

We were part of a large group booking over Christmas, so I know this can often cause problems for the waiting staff when it comes to remembering everyone's orders, making sure everyone is looked after. But I have to say Symposium Barrie was just perfect. Everyone enjoyed their meal, with all our steaks being cooked to absolute perfection. Definitely the best steak I have had in years! We thought we had found our new favourite breakfast place as we live just a few minutes away. Ordered through Skip one day: outstanding. Once the restaurant reopened for dine in we visited and had another great experience. Yesterday was a different story. Ordered over easy eggs. When they got to the table they were completely over hard. Had to go into to get the server. She took them away and within two minutes brought me out pretty much the same result. They were over medium-hard. I was so hungry and annoyed by this point because my husband was basically finished his breakfast which was also disappointing; he ordered his eggs over easy; they were poached medium. Does the problem lie with the server not ordering food correctly or is it the cook? There was no seasoning whatsoever on the breakfast potatoes. Also, we were told we would be charged for hot sauce? Are you joking? Never has any restaurant I’ve ever been to charged for hot sauce. It’s a bottle of Franks Red Hot for heavens sakes, not truffle oil. Not sure what happened to this seemingly great place, we won’t be back. I can see from the other reviews that other people have been disappointed as well. Too bad Symposium. You need to do better. If you’re charging people for hot sauce; you’re hurting.

Went there on a Friday night and it was busy. A lot of........well, i'll just say people. They seem to be there quit often and are very familiar with each other. Its nice inside, the deserts look great in the case but I didn't try any. The menu was okay and nothing stood out except the prices, jesus how much for pasta? Wasn't worth it, we don't go to be seen, We go for the food, the service and the whole experience. Once was enough we wont go back !!

Nice little place with good breakfast selection and reasonable prices. Just slow. They were busy but had plenty of staff often standing around. Maybe they were waiting for food to be cooked? Regardless it took longer than you would expect for our food to come out than at most breakfast places.

Charging over $15.00 for French toast is absolutely ridiculous!!! And I do not enjoy of getting a side of microwaved "ready crisp bacon" This place is a shining example of how we are all getting ripped off Was told that the orange juice was freshly squeezed and of course charged accordingly. Had lunch, waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about specials. We had the calamari app and it was a large portion and very delicious. Good price for the amount you get. As for mains we had the butter chicken bowl and the chicken Parm sandwich. Both large delicious portions for a fair price. We will definitely be coming back when we come through barrie! Enjoyable breakfast; had the Eggs Benny with Smoked Salmon & Red Onion. Friendly and quick service, great coffee. Reasonable prices. The only semi-negative comment is about the 'home fries'. Can't say for certain, but I feel like perhaps they were frozen to start with -- not freshly cooked and sauteed. Other than that, would definitely go back, perhaps to try lunch! Best of all was the time I got to spend with my dear friend!

Followed by an Espresso and Chocolate Brownie with ice cream... yumm! Yes I over indulged today. Recently my husband and I ordered a meal for pick- up emphasis on pick-up. My husband went in to pay, and waited for his change which he did not get until he asked for it. The person he paid responded with 'tip'. It was $13..my husband politely replied no, can I have my change. I'm all for tipping, but this was a little bit rude.

Just moved to Brantford and have been here twice. Both were not great experiences. Although the atmosphere and food were good, the service is deplorable. Understaffed. this was my last visit. ... Waited for 20 minutes on a busy morning, party of 4, plus a child. A booth was open the whole time...figuredthey were waiting to seat us properly. Put us in the booth anyways...had to get my own chair. Didn't take our order for another 20 minutes, and had to ask for coffee refills. The wait for the food was about 40 minutes. I ordered bacon and eggs...easy enough? Nope. I requested bacon crisp and over easy eggs. Got raw bacon and solid eggs. The rest of the party had cold food. No discount. Won't be going back

My fiance and I went to The Symposium this morning for breakfast. He ordered Eggs Benedict with fresh mango juice and I ordered the Eggs Florentine. I can honestly say it was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. The poached eggs were done perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was amazing. Would definitely recommend going here for breakfast! Can't wait to go back for breakfast again as well as try the rest of their menu!

I like that it's not a big chain restaurant. It's like a quaint place but beautiful inside, good atmosphere. It specializes in desserts but has a good sized menu with many delicious options. It's one of the only places that I actually want to try many menu items. Would definitely recommend for a family lunch or date night.
