We were so hungry I forgot to take photos ???? But we really enjoyed our breakfast this past weekend. Big portions, and cooked with love 100%! Toast was good quality bread, loved the home fries and bacon. Eggs were also fried to perfection. Hubby loved the blueberry pancakes as well. They are cooked into the pancake and not just poured overtop. We will definitely be back! Thank you ????

I was in Barrie for a cowboy action shooting competition and was introduced to this eatery by a cowboy companion . And let me tell you there is just no more places like this ! And if I wasn't 600 km away I would be sitting in one of those old style booths wright now for a real awesome hardy breakfast. I will definitely be back when I am in that area. When the owner meets a reagular at the front door with his coffee and takes the time to chat with the clients , nice atmosphere great food just loved the whole experience

Love this diner! It's become an absolute favourite spot to meet a friend over breakfast or lunch. I had French Toast today for the first time - delish! Matt the owner is terrific and Chrissie his long time waitress is the best. There are lots of regulars which you realize after you've returned a few times. The staff make everyone feel comfortable and at home and the food is never disappointing.

Great service, ✅ Great food, ✅ Fun Atmosphere ✅ We were in Barrie for the weekend, my daughters had the oatmeal , delicious pancakes, thick strips of bacon and maple syrup. My Fiancé and I had the eggs Florentine. Often eggs Florentine is delivered cold or at room temperature, not the case here. The spinach was hot and the hollandaise was warm and delicious.I think our server was also the owner, he was friendly efficient and kept my mug full of pretty good coffee. Kudos for having a photograph from the movie “Duel”. I would happily recommend this fun diner to all those breakfasting in Barrie.

This is a solid breakfast dinner! We have enjoyed everything we've eaten here. Being a diner i probably would have given it 4 stars but it's price is very reasonable for Barrie. (I find Ontario drastically over prices breakfast). The tasty food and enjoyable experience at this price point definitely deserves 5 stars.

My boyfriend and I were passing through Barrie on a road trip and after some restaurant googling we decided to stop here and it did not disappoint!! Chrissy was our server who provided great service and lots of laughs. She was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable on the menu items. Her great recommendations lead us to one of the best lunches we had in a long time. My boyfriend had the Midway burger (but subbed out the blue cheese) and I had one of the best Steak Sandwich’s I have ever had. If only Barrie was closer, otherwise I would definitely be a regular here.

Cozy little diner in the heart of downtown Barrie, not too far from the lake. 3 of us ate here yesterday, one had the pancakes, one had eggs Florentine and one had a Denver omelet. The omelet was good, decent amount of ingredients, good flavour. Pancakes were good but a little heavy, came with a good sized portion of bacon. Eggs Florentine was good, hollandaise was ok but needs a little more flavour, but the biggest thing is the spinach was gritty in a couple of spots, so not rinsed enough. The home fries were ok, some were undercooked, and had a flavour of old grease. Service was very good, fast and friendly, price was on par with other breakfast places in Barrie. Overall not bad spot for a good breakfast in Barrie.

My husband and I stopped in here by chance on our way up north and we had an awesome experience. It’s old school charm with modern touches nails the desired diner experience. Prices are amazing, and food follows suit. The homefries are the kicker with incredible seasoning - they don’t even need ketchup. The owner was also our server (I think) and he was welcoming, accommodating and attentive. A group of local lacrosse families came in (17 families) and he welcomed them with no problem. Love this place - will definitely come back!!!

Upon walking in I was offput by the atmosphere. The owner was very welcoming with a hometown "come on in folks". We were promptly taken care of, even with an almost full house. I have been here a log time ago with my family and i really enjoyed the steak and eggs breakfast, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere can be a bit busy/noisy sometimes but its no ones fault for that it happens in a small setting with lots of people but now during covid 19 times there forcing a person to wear a mask even if I have exemptions that the health department told me I didn't have to wear a mask so cause I am refused service here at Midway and was turned away there in violation of my human rights as a legal matter.

They only take cash... As opposed to say, the hyper futuristic options of credit cards or debit cards. No need to get snarky, people should be aware of the cash only feature before they sit down, finish their meal and are forced to pay the exorbitant fees associated with using a third party ATM. That way they can perhaps come prepared with cash. ????

Ordered fish and chips through Ubereats. Always delicious, great price, and lots of food. Just a suggestion. I usually don't ask for vinegar but had none at home. When it got here the vinegar was in the food container and had opened. None of the little clear plastics lids were on (coleslaw). The vinegar was all over the outside of the containers and the bag. Good thing I like vinegar lol. It was pretty messy though. Not sure how all the small clear plastics lids were not sealed but the larger ones used for gravy were fine. Maybe get the vinegar packs or lids that stay on.

A glimpse back in time with fabulous food. It's my first choice for quality, taste and quantity. Eat there, at the counter, in a booth, at a table or take it to go. Your food is made to order. What else could one ask for, besides grapefruit juice? Oh, they have that too and rye toast. Best eggs benedict in town, they do wonders with fried mashed potatoes or home fried plus the bacon is amazing. Your loss if you don't try it at least once.

Tried the place today....ordered steak and eggs, menu said rib eye and got a little slice of sirloin Iol. Home fries were soggy potatoes maybe 10 pieces. By far the worst place we Have ever been too for breakfast, I didn't eat anything and they gladly fully charged us...so under cooked microwaved sirloin, soggy potatoes, can't get the toast right..burnt rye not brown...and now my pregnant wife is home tossing her BLT she ate. Off day guys???

For an out of the way diner. The food was fantastically tasting and priced. Well worth the time from our mini vacation in Collingwood to visit. My wife and I came through town ~ two years ago, stopped for breakfast. The place from the outside says nothing about the food quality inside. Overall, the place could use some repairs. But you're not here for a sexy building, you're hear for sexy food. I had ordered the "Lumberjack" breakfast which came with just about anything you can call a breakfast food. We really liked the place and if we're ever back in O'Canada, I hope we get a chance to eat here again.

The building was built in the 1880s so the decor is authentic, it's truly old, not designed to look old. The food is completely home made and fantastic, all the locals eat here, there is a lineup at 6.30 in the morning so that should tell you something.Dont be put off by the interior, sit down and try a breakfast, you will become a regular. I eat here several times a week when I am in town, I live in B.C and wished we had a Mid Way in my hometown. If you get there early enough, grab a seat at the bar and hang with the locals. They flip a coin for who buys the coffee, so you may get a free cup.

Googled good breakfast spots on the way home from Algonquin Backcountry and this came up - do not judge a book by it's cover! Insanely good food, very well priced, and excellent service. The 4 of us got various breakfast foods and everything was fantastic. 10/10 coming back for more whenever we come through.

This diner is phenomenal. Prices are right, portions are insane and you would think with large servings the quality would be worse but not at this diner. I got the eggs Benedict and my partner got the pancakes w/eggs and bacon. They melt in your mouth! Give it a shot, if Matt’s diner was located in Toronto I would visit on a weekly basis. Thank you Matt, Ended our trip with the best food we had in Barrie yet.

My girlfriend and I were staying in Barrie for boots and hearts this past weekend and stumbled upon this spot when looking for a good breakfast location, we read the reviews and gave them a try, and we are glad we did. With an old fashioned feel, great food (my choice was the pancake breakfast????????), and friendly service I would definitely go back when in town next, even if it wasn't breakfast time. The bacon was on point, the eggs (scrambled) were delicious, and the pancakes yum!

We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday after a wedding in Barrie, what a nice surprise. A quick, tasty breakfast, eggs perfectly poached and their mashed potato hash is excellent. Clearly most of the patrons are frequent diners, warmly greeted by name. Will return if we are in Barrie again. We got the takeout of 2 fish and chips. Fantastic. Finally fish and chips how i remember from years gone bye. Great price, fish, coleslaw,chips, tarter sauce,lemon etc. Great staff. Coming back next week,,,,,,

So the outside could do with a fresh coat of paint but don't let that deter you, it's a cute diner with good food and good service. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast and it was delicious, eggs and bacon cooked perfectly, their coffee was surprisingly good and the portions are generous. We seen some people order sandwiches which looked fantastic. The service was fast and friendly and the who experience was great. We will finitely visit you guys again the next time we're in the area.
