This is a top notch bakery that also has a cafeteria style food counter serving hot meals from sandwiches to full dinners. Although you line up to get your food I have never been disappointed with the servings or taste. You can get frozen food and a variety of grocery items you are unlikely to find elsewhere.

Went to the Italian bakery when it first opened and it was amazing food, serivce, and price. Went there today and EXTREMELY disappointed. Staff was rude, lasagna was ok but it was extra for cheese ? A little ridiculous. Just got 2 pieces of lasagna and it was over $20 with no drinks... Will not be returning.

I asked for parm to put on my pasta and they told me it was an extra $1!!! I've never encountered that! To an Italian, that's like saying here's your burger, you can have ketchup on it for a dollar. My rice ball had processed mozzarella inside. Yes some of us can tell the difference so shame on you! Also I did not like the way all the bread and pastry were out on tables etc where anyone could touch them, sneeze on them, cough on them....no thanks. I definitely won't be back. I'd rather drive to Vaughan.

I have been to the Italian bakery numerous times for buying frozen sausages and bread to pastries and desserts. Been times a slice of pizza, eating in breakfast or getting food to go from hot table. Last few times I have gotten veal in a bun was not overly impressive, changes over time. However, yesterday was an exception. As we arrived at hot table we were warmly greeted with smile by Helen. She put together the best veal on a bun I have had in Barrie to date. Thank you for paying attention to our ask we wanted it sloppy and fully loaded willing to pay for extra toppings. She really made them with care and even held her composure when the boss came to give her some feedback while we were right there. Helen it's because of you we will be back again. Thank you for making it a great experience and delicious Friday night dinner sandwich! Keep doing what you are doing.

The selection of food products is amazing. I bought some deli meats and cheeses, the man behind the counter was friendly, I looked at the pizza and the young lady there was really nice. Then I went to the hot table. Hmmm, the selection was very good but the woman behind the counter was "cold" and made me feel like I was annoying her. I ordered the classic meatball, very big but dry. I also ordered a latte with extra foam. She did a great job with the latte, made it just the way I liked it After lunch I went back to the pizza counter and ordered the Ricotta and Spinach pizza to go. When I got it home I realized it wasn't cut into slices. Annoyed. The pizza was delicious but had to slice horizontally to get rid of half of the bottom of the pizza. Too thick for me. I like the place and will go back.

Paid just under $13 for this meal. It's the stuffed chicken with a side (veggies). I asked for mushrooms. I added hot sauce salt pepper butter and squeezed that lemon slice to enhance the flavor. They are not too generous with side serving sizes.

Ordered food for a confirmation and everything was good except the meat and the vegetable lasagna it tasted like vinegar and was so bad I had to throw it in the garbage $90.00 dollars down the drain. My husband called and all they said was we will let the cook know. The could of at least offered us something since we spent $460.00 worth of catering.

Living in Woodbridge all my life and being Italian I must say this was a nice Bakery supermarket with great stuff I have to admit honesty is the best and the lady was honest and admitting that the cannoli shells are imported and not made fresh. Nice clean Bakery lots of selections and even their little supermarket has a big selection I guess this is the only Bakery of its typing Barrie very nice. The cannoli was pretty good as well

The meatball sandwich was amazing, staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful with my questions. Driving in & out of the location was the only drawback, the street takes a bit of an S turn and this driveway is right in the middle of it, if Barrie drivers weren't so aggressive it wouldn't be an issue at all.

Not many places in Barrie that one can depend on for Italian foody fare. Prices are somewhat higher than the GTA, but they do have a nice variety of products based on Italian heritage. Expect to pay about 10-20% higher than what you might find at your regular supermarket or exclusive Italian food stores. That being said, you'll find many quality products at Fuda's.

Last visit a bit disappointing. Ordered chicken Parmesan and asked for spaghetti as side dish (thought this is the usual Italian side dish for this meal...). But only had spaghetti with meatballs. So I took it and got charged for two meals. Guess I should have asked when ordering and said if meatballs can be skipped... I would though expect from an attentive and smart server to clarify. Also food was cold, especially chicken was very cold. The shop is great though, with huge selection of Christmas cookies and wonderful Panettone of very good quality (at justifiable higher prices).

Great selections of fresh breads, cheeses, olives/Antipasto, deli meats, premade meals, frozen sausages, pasta, tomato sauces, GELATO and a beautiful dessert case, with everything you would expect from an Italian market. There's also the option to grab a meal from the hot buffet and dine in. Prices, on the meats & cheeses in particular, were a bit steep but you could absolutely tell the quality was there so you are most certainly getting what you pay for. I will definitely be going back.

I've driven by this place and had no idea it is as big as it is. Who knew they have a great seating area inside to eat. I came because I heard they have great Portuguese tarts (yes I know its Italian), which unfortunately they were sold out of. I picked up a couple of desserts and they were great. Best pizza in Barrie (depending on who makes it on a given day). One of the only places I know where you can get big dollops of ricotta and spinach on a pizza (we order ricotta/spinach/mushrooms/pepperoni - it's awesome) and so inexpensive ($20 for an extra-large)! No delivery however and they close at 6pm, so it requires a little planning.

First entering the store it feels like a traditional Italian super market, and it sure is on the inside. I purchased a veal sandwich and a cabbage roll from the hot table for lunch. The line was long since the place was busy but there was plenty of staff to serve us all. The line went quickly and the price was very reasonable for what was practically a home cooked meal. The veal sandwich was delicious. I added mushrooms and sweet peppers to it which added a slight crunch and a bit of sweetness to soft sandwich. The bread wasn't too crunchy which was nice as the meat didn't fall outside the back of the sandwich as I bit into it (which is typical for some veal sandwiches). The sauce was really tasty and reminds me of my grandmothers homemade sauce. Overall a very delicious sandwich. The cabbage roll was as expected. It wasn't amazing but it was a tasty roll and a nice way to get my veggies in my diet. I ended my trip with buying a very delicious chocolate mousse tart. It was a perfect dessert for a fantastic home cooked lunch for a very reasonable price.

But it is not only an amazing bakery.....their lasagnas , veal chicken Parmesan, endless choices for lunches and dinner...Then there are the desserts , no words needed extraordinary.... Don't forget breakfast as well.....the prices are so reasonable and the food once again 5 star! Very cozy atmosphere and can be very busy in peak hours, worth the wait!

Food was somewhat good but EXTREMELY expensive for portions and quality. Chicken parmigiana on a bun $10. And you could not taste the chicken only breading and extremely paper thin. Nothing came with it just that for that amount. My daughter got meatballs that was a joke! $2.00 per and not worth $1.00. Deserts $$$ and somewhat stale. Not overly friendly!! I have been here a couple of times but won't go back for hot food.

When we first drove past this bakery we thought it was just a small little shop....until we actually stopped and when in. This place is big! The selection of meats was incredible! The smell of fresh baked goods just makes you salivate and the buns we picked up we're so fresh and soft. We also couldn't help ourselves and picked up some of their fresh baked desserts. The cupcakes just looked too good to pass up. Prices were fair and the staff was super friendly. We will be going back for sure.

The food is great but the customer service is non existent. The bathrooms are disgusting. There was no toilet tissue in 2 plus very dirty toilets. I visited in the morning so that should not be an issue early in the day. It is not an inviting place when it comes to their staff, although the restaurant staff was pleasant.

Love the lasagne and the stromboli they make. Very courteous and friendly staff. Not a fan of the bread it lacks flavour from what I have had at other Italian bakeries in the GTA. The pastries were also lacking in flavor they all taste the same so I wouldn't recommend either of these items. Never found a bakery that wasn't opened on a Sunday like this store and closed early during the week. Only time I can shop there would be a Saturday which is too bad they don't have better hours for people that work all week.

Lovely big store with lots more than just a bakery. Frozen foods, bakery, deli and more. I like to pick up my fresh bread here. None of that grocery store doughy bread with lots of preservatives for me. Lots of different varieties that you can have whole or sliced at the store. Deli meats are freshly sliced to the thickness you like. Frozen cabbage rolls are an easy weeknight dinner, and so tasty! Of course, a trip here is always topped off by something sweet from the baked goods counter. So many choices! And so delicious!

I can honestly say I wasn't too impressed with this Italian Bakery. The hot table food items were not that great. The pasta sauce was super watery and lacked flavor. A blueberry pie that costs $13 and made from canned blueberry filling was pretty disappointing. Spent over $60 for hot food and bakery items that were mediocre at best.

Love the food and the variety of baked goods at this location. Unfortunately, each time I order from the hot food section, which is at least once per week, the ladies behind the counter (especially today June 14, 2018 at noon) rush us like we're bothering them/taking time out of their day and look absolutely miserable and when you ask what something is, look at you like you have horns growing on your head. Can't really make a good decision on what to get as they seem off in another world. No other section in the location is like this. Hope management better trains their staff to welcome customers and not rush them. I do understand people may be in a hurry during their lunch hour, but, for goodness sake, slow down a bit. I've worked in the food industry for many years and if I was ever caught being this way with customers I wouldn't have a job!

LOVE their desserts. I haven't tried any of the hot food yet but I would definitely recommend this place before travelling all the way to Toronto to get some. I understand the amount of time it takes to make the amount of desserts they make but the only thing I have to critic is the availability of the desserts near the end of the day. You have to get there early to take advantage of the variety of goodies. Fantastic service and a great time, every time!

Food and baked good lover's paradise. I walked in to get some baked goods and wanted to walk out with the whole freaking store. If you go here carry an escape plan once you buy what you want....there is so much good stuff in here it will be hard to leave without buying it all. The cannoli I bought were outstanding. The croissants I wanted to return and buy more. The bridge being demolished makes this difficult but I'll go there regardless. SUCH GOOD FOOD.

We've eaten at the Italian Bakery a number of times and return every time we are visiting Barrie. It is a family run business and they put their heart and sole into the hot food served which is all homemade as well as all of the deli products and baking they have available. It's a little like having a meal at your favorite Zia's house! You will not regret visiting the Italian Bakery. Growing up as a first generation Canadian of Italian immigrants, it's like visiting with family!

I'm of Italian background. This is how I remember the Italian bakeries of a time when I was a kid some 40 years ago. A lot has changed since then and so has the "so called" Italian eateries. Some are close to authentic and some have totally missed the mark, at least from what I consider authentic. Of course nothing is perfect or exactly like what I've had in Italy, but I consider this place one of the best in popular Southern Italian food. Simple, no junk ingredients, home style, and tastes all natural. I'm biased towards this type of food because I grew up with it, but if you like good tasting food that's made from fundamentals (ie., No junk ingredients, like most fast food pizza joints - calling out Pizza Pizza, Pizza Nova, etc.), then you'll like it. I usually prefer the veal and sausage because I'm a meat guy.

Came for lunch to support local and due to medical condition I am exempt from wearing a face covering I was told by owner that I needed to wear a mask When I advised I was exempt she said “ya sure you are” and started walking away. This is the second time my family has tried to come in and have a nice lunch, and received very rude service from the same lady at the cash. The first time we attempted to have lunch was June 2017. As first timers, we naturally asked how it all worked. Where do we order? Do we just take a seat and a server comes? Are there specials? The lady behind the counter was extremely rude, to the point where we were so embarrassed and upset by the way we were treated that we just walked out. The second time was yesterday....July 5th 2018. We decided we would try this place out again hoping the service would be better. As you walk in the front doors you’ll see that they advertise for another restaurant down on Dunlop street....(we didn’t see that it was for another restaurant, we thought it was italian bakery’s special offers). When my partner and I asked the lady at the cash “what apps were half price today” she looked at us like we were stupid and proceeded to use the tone that we were as well. We just said sorry... I guess we are mistaken we saw a sign out from that said half price apps on Thursdays. She said “ya well that’s not here!” and turned around and walked away. All this happening in front of other customers, my partner, my 11 month old son and later to find out, a manager! He was sitting in the corner having a coffee and did nothing. I have never been so embarrassed and couldn’t believe someone like this worked in front line customer service. I was going to just leave like the first time but then went back in to ask who the manager was. This has now happened 2 times and I don’t think it’s right that this employee can treat people like this. I approached a very nice young lady at the pizza area, I ended up in tears telling her what happened because I was so upset and belittled....she then directed me to a manager on duty, who she was hoping would then direct me to the higher up to discuss the service I received. That’s when I realized he was sitting in the corner sipping his coffee essentially watching the whole thing happen and doing nothing about it. His name was Gord. The young lady suggested to Gord that I talk to the higher up and he said “no, they were having a bad day so don’t do that”. We both just stood there in silence at this point and he said “don’t worry I’ll talk to her”. He wasn’t very convincing nor empathetic the the situation at all so I don’t believe she was dealt with. I don't believe anyone should spend there hard earned money in places like this. I work at Georgian College in direct contact with students, community and staff and would never in a million years dream of speaking to them the way I was spoke too. I do not recommend anyone going here....you deserve to be treated with respect and that’s not what you’ll receive here.

Unfortunately there staff are not very helpful or friendly , alot of there ideas are over price, going to different bakeries all the time gives me the opportunity to see the difference in prices and the quality in there hot table, do yourself a favor don't order the veal.

This place needs to up its game on service. Ordered a couple of hot sandwiches and sat at table waiting. 30 minutes later we inquired as to where our food was. Said we didnt answer when my name was called. So they gave it away. They never came over to the seating area, nor told us to stand and wait by cash. Food was okay, nothing outstanding.

A few years back, I remembered ordering a Cream Puff cake for my youngest who doesnt like cake. She was turning 18 and I wanted to order it again. Sadly, they dont regularly make this cake anymore but the Baker said he would. It was even better than what we remembered and it was absolutely Gorgeous! My daughter now wants this cake, every year for her birthday. What an incredible job from the Baker and Adele for checking for me and getting back to me so quickly. An amazing job done by all!!!

I give 2 stars because the people are nice. Otherwise, the food is dreadful. I gave this place 2 chances. Had a veal sandwich that left me with the worst heartburn, which only happens when the sauce is not cooked properly and or of poor quality. The 2nd time, I had overcooked penne with tomato sauce. This time the sauce tasted better. The problem was, they had not strained the pasta before putting it in the container, then topped it with sauce. I had to drain the water out myself, which washed some of the sauce and came very bland. I took 2 bites and the rest ended up in the garbage. I come from a restaurant background and know that the ridges in the penne hold the tomato sauce beautifully if you mix it in the pot, then top it with a bit more sauce. Dumping sauce on an unstrained pasta just tells me, who ever is in the back cooking and plating is just going through the motions and doesn’t care about their job. I’ll never be back.

Delicious food and homemade desserts a little on the pricey side but this is 1 of those examples that you get what you pay for and ive never left this Restaurant/ Bakery unsatisfied or hungry . The owners are there 99 %of the time and if for any reason your unsatisfied they will make it right. I started eating here when I moved from Toronto to Barrie 12 years ago and I havent found a better Italian food place in Barrie.

I can't believe I haven't been here before. What a treasure! The food was incredible and the desserts so amazing. The staff was extremely nice. We treated like family here. If you haven't been before, you're really missing out. They have hot food ready and a large variety of imported Italian goods for reasonable prices. A must try in the Barrie area.

Very good selection of Italian foods. Good place to find dried sausages and great place for buns and bread. Have never eaten from their restaurant but it looks very nice. They also have a nice Deli which we have used previously and was very good.

You get what you pay for food made from scratch with fresh simple ingredients old school calabrese. The sauce and bread are made fresh every morning. Compare that to fast food where god knows what's in it. This place is always busy for a reason.

Comprehensive selection of Italian desserts, confections, condiments, prepared food and cooking ingredients. I especially appreciate the nod to gluten free ravioli and gnocchi, delicious and just as satisfying as their glutinous counterparts, not cheap though. Downside: extremely oily and EXPENSIVE antipasti. Good deals to be had on day old desserts and pizza slices. Prepared salads are good and the coffee is primo. Just like the traditional joints of Little Italy in Toronto.

I would start by saying this place has good authentic Italian food but my concern is when you order Pasta how can you charge someone extra for Cheese????? if your an authentic Italian restaurant you should know better that Pasta comes with Parmesan and bread unless stated otherwise by the customer! kinda disappointing that your trying to make money not only on the food but on the Cheese too. For me being a true Italian this is the first Italian restaurant i have been too that they want to charge extra for cheese. you guys should know better !!! smarten up

I frequent this establishment often and have to say that this place has always been a very good experience. I don't believe there's one area of the business I haven't tried - the deli counter, the pastry counter, the restaurant and the bakery side. To me, the entire business provides a fantastic product and I've yet to have a negative experience with them. The two go to items for me are the breakfast - two eggs, toast, homefries, fruit and coffee for just over $6 (taxes in) and the cannoli which are the best I've had (and Toronto is just down the road). Given my experience with the Bakery, I see myself continuing to frequent the business for some time to come and would encourage others to do the same if in Barrie.

Today i decided to bring my family out for lunch to the italian bakery. What a mistake rude service and bad food. The lady behind the hot table (the one that never smiles)was rude and actually ruined my afternoon. I had hot oil at my table that i was using, she barged over and took it without excusing her self (maleducata) awesome service????. I spoke up and asked if she thought i was going to steal it. The manager heard me and turned her head. Now i see where your staff gets it from. Another thing who charges $1 for chesse on your pasta. If you can't afford to give cheese for your customers pasta i recommend shutting down because an ITALIAN restaurant NEVER charges for cheese. i would never recomend to anyone to eat here you want good italian food in Barrie go to Il Bucco. As for the mangers and owners here dovresti vergognarti.

Walking in is first a feast for the eyes. From the dry goods to the cheeses, deli meats, breads and baked goods, it is foremost a feast for the eyes. The bread is fresh, tasty and priced well. The pastries, my favourite being the cannoli are dangerously addictive if a bit pricy. 5 for $10 is your best buy. I recently ordered a cake which was ready for pick up when promised. The cake looked great and tasted great. However, my only complaint was the fact that almost a quarter of the cake was the icing which is way too much. Everyone who ate the cake complained of the same thing. We basically had to throw out the outside perimeter icing portion of each slice as it was too thick and sickly sweet. They should be more careful and just coat the cake with the icing. It would be a far bigger hit if they did so. The bakery also has a sitting area to enjoy a pastry and coffee for breakfast or a lunch. The Cake was RED VELVET.

The only place north of highway 7 to get a decent real veal sandwich. Combined this with the standard Italian bakery fair which is all on par with anything one would find in Woodbridge, or Toronto. If you like Italian "hot table" style food, worth a stopover if you live or visit anywhere in the Barrie or surrounding area.
