This Coffee Shop is included in the category of Coffee shop.
This place had the most amazing vibe. Only had lovely hot chocolate so will be back to sample the coffee later. Batista was super friendly- seemed more like a bar than coffee shop & was open until 11pm!! (Don't Canadians need sleep?) Has beans galore to buy. Defo worth a short trip out here.
I never would of thought coffee could taste sooo good. Great variety as well. It’s a must visit????
Great selection of coffee. Tonnes of expertise in Andrew the main coffee roaster. Open 32 years.
Kensington's best super cool hipster hangout. Free wifi. Grrrrrrrreat coffee.
Terrific coffee, eclectic clientele. Patio hosts an interesting sub-culture that is a window into the Kensington of the early to mid-nineties.
Absolutely incredible! The service was top notch!
hang out with all the wild wonderful wacky people for amazing conversation and pretend time doesn't exist or grab and go in a rush with speedy helpful staff. they roast beans right in the store which the kids really enjoy watching and it is a kid friendly place everyone is very kind to them. fun atmosphere and beutiful mini garden to sit at outside
Great coffee, roasted in house
Unique coffee shop with lots of options
Good selection of beans and friendly service.
Best place for coffee beans . So many international varieties to choose from including 6 different types from Ethiopia ????????
This small little coffee shop often fills the entire stretch of 10th street from Safeway all the way to the river with the aroma of beautifully roasted coffee beans! Their staff are always the kindest and will always answer any questions you have, the coffee is delicious and the prices are affordable, My favourite coffee spot In the city!
Haven't been here for a long time, but it was still good!
Quirky little local place with a few seats and coffee roasted on site. Worth a visit and a coffee. Buy local.
Best coffee I have ever had (& I am not usually a big coffee fan!)
Best coffee and very mellow & friendly staff. Can sit out and enjoy the flowers while sipping coffee.
The Roasterie is a Kensington staple. You MUST go here for a coffee if you're in the neighbourhood. This place serves the best coffee in Calgary with a unique and eclectic atmosphere.
Large selection of the great coffee, excellent service.
LOVE this place. Great owner & super authentic place for a quality cup of coffee. Also the best smelling place I’ve ever been I think… wish my house smelled that good!
Still, the best tasting freshly roasted coffee in Canada. They have adapted in these uncertain times and have acquired more space next door that serves as a waiting area. This allows you to wait in a warm area during the winter.
Quaint little local shop, love the sights and smells of the roasting going on. Staff was friendly and teamworked well together. However needs more seating. I would like to have sat down and enjoyed the experience fully.
Great selection of coffees!
Been going here for Monsoon Malabar coffee beans since 1991. It's a really low acidic bean due to the extended drying times of the region. Great for Celiac's
Really cool little coffee place in Kensington. Chill vibe, friendly staff, antiques. Great coffee and Apple strudel. Just so busy, I could barely find a place to sit down. And using my lap top was difficult. Free WiFi. I will go back. Just cause I loved the atmosphere. :)
The coffee is absolutely delicious. They have a range of selections. I drank the hot mocha decaf with soy and it was amazing. Today, I selected their Vietnamese cold coffee (which they could make decaf!) and it was worth every dollar. It is a bit pricey but in my opinion value for money. The staff is fun and great too.
I had an americano decaf with coconut cream and this will be 100% unforgettable, what an amazing coffee! They have all sorts of kinds and coffees from all over the globe. Great coffee place in the kengsinton area in Calgary.
Awesome coffee and super friendly staff!
I was in search of some Kona beans as a gift for somebody special and I reached out over Facebook. They were quick to respond that they didn't have any but we're expecting a shipment in the coming days. The very next day they reached out to me unexpectedly to let me know that the shipment arrived and they were being roasted at that very moment. I called in and held a pound of beans and picked them up the day after. Above and beyond customer service, that I truly appreciated - and a very happy recipient! Thank you so much!
Excellent coffee beans with wide variety of flavours. They make delicious coffees too.
Solid spot to snag some beans.
The Best coffee in Calgary hands down.
Best hot chocolate in town; possibly the absolute worst mochas. I feel "bittersweet" about this revelation.
The atmosphere and decor is excellent. The care of coffee is evident. The espresso must not have been pulled properly as it was too bitter and almost burnt tasting.
A very special place. It feels like being in cozy museum. The coffee they roast is amazing.
Best americano in Kensington
Always excellent! Wide selection of fresh roasted beans or a fresh brew.
Best in the city ❤️
Best coffee place in town! Great roasted beans as well. The man who roasts the beans is a little grumpy but the quality is worth it
Amazing place love the vibe of art and coffee
space is small but it's heart is LARGE. Great coffee. have the danish breakfast coffee. Brilliant.
This place is near and dear to my heart; I hope it never leaves.
Best coffee in town.
Best latte in Calgary, hands down! My friend recommended this place to me and I'm so happy she did! The stuff are super friendly and the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. It's also in the heart of the trendy Kensington. I will be back for sure!
Great Place to go for a cup of coffee or some beans for the house.
Really cool atmosphere and the staff were great, but both times I've been here the coffee was poorly made. (Espresso was burned pretty badly on one, and my Dolce had no flavour). Edit: it's been a few months and I decided to give it another shot, but the coffee still tastes burnt and bitter. Milk was also over steamed. Try Caffe Beano or Phil & Sebastian, you won't be disappointed.
Awesome, best americano in the area.
Favourite cafe in town. Hav been going here for the last 20 years
Hard to beat fresh-roasted coffee. The service is good and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There are often sketchy people hanging around in front of the building, which is frustrating. Also there's no indication if any of the coffees are fair-trade, which is important to me.
Smells awesome inside.
Very unique atmosphere, incredible coffee
Authentic Vietnamese coffee. Very enjoyable. Consistent drinks and friendly staff.
So many types of beans, roasts and the staff is amazing.
Best coffee selection!
Got an oat milk latte and it was pretty good! The taste was a bit bitter than what I'm used to but I thought that was ok because usually the other coffee places can be too sweet. I wasn't able to go inside because of covid restrictions but I heard you can order bulk coffee beans there. Hope to try dining in someday.
Perfect place to relax and drink coffee
Such a feel good place, we absolutely love it. Visited with kids for YYC hot chocolate. So far it's on the top of our list - smooth, perfect sweetness, whipping cream and candied ginger...all worked so well together. Worth trying it spiced...so good!!!!
Chill vibe, cool staff and the best coffee in town.
They cut corners in the coffee and it is mostly ice with very little coffee rip off
A local coffee roaster is with Spanish flavor! Beans brought from South America to a cool little coffee shop in the heart of Kensington, Calgary! The place is filled to the brim with art books and the latte machine keeps cranking out fine coffees all day and into the night! A fun place to hang out. Small patio, dog friendly.
Love this place and the staff. Chill vibes
This place is great for all
These guys know coffee. There is no better blend for shots of espresso. They serve in proper espresso cups. They always give you an accompanying glass of water (as done in many parts of the world). Forget the hoity toity shops about town. This is the best in Calgary.
Great coffee and incredible atmosphere. Either grab a cup there or get beans to bring home
This is probably one of the most iconic and historical coffee shops in Calgary. At least for me it was the first one that I acknowledge to be a coffee lovers toys r us. The selection of freshly roasted beans and the varieties of beans is definitely overwhelming. However the staff is always friendly and will definitely take the time to explain to you about the various types of beans, the orgins, and the various types of roasts to best satisfy your palate. Even though there is normally a line for someone looking to buy beans or a drink. Seating is somewhat limited so if you are looking to sit down and enjoy your cup, wait for a warmer day, do you can enjoy the coffee and the atmosphere of Kensington.
Best coffee in town, really! Roasting on site? Just the best smell you can walk into. Love this place!
Great coffee and location staff can be a little grumpy some time though
Excellent cappuccino
Such a great experience. Thanks Jordan for the informative coffee chat. Will definitely be back here to enjoy different roasts and regions of coffee.
Best coffee shop by far, friendly staff, knowledgeable, welcoming atmosphere, superb music, great style, for beginners or advanced coffee tasters, genuine beans, certainly unique. Keep it up all!!!
Still and always will be Calgary's Best Fresh Roasted Coffee! Ask for the BRUCE!
Best coffee in Calgary, 100%
Has some great coffee a Lil clique and snobbish services
Calgary’s authentic coffee house. I love how it’s not trying to be cool or anything. It just is. Always great vibe and conversation. And, of course, the beans are roasted right on the premises!
Best cappuccino I've had in awhile. Love the atmosphere and freshly roasting beans behind the counter.
Of all the varied coffee places in the Kensington area, the Roasterie is one of my favourites. They generally roast coffee in the afternoons directly in the shop, making the entire neighbourhood smell amazing (At least, if you like coffee.). They also have some of the best espresso I've had in this city and some of the most eclectic decor around. That said, it can get a bit busy and seating space is rather limited. However, they're generally cool with you taking mugs and whatnot to the small plaza area directly outside with its various benches and people doing entertaining things.
Little gem located in Kensington! I was searching for a specific Ethiopian coffee for my brother and was so happy to find it here. The staff are friendly & helpful and you can smell the wonderful aroma even before stepping inside the shop. Will be back to try the espresso!
Very attentive and kind staff, quick service, and awesome coffee! Especially love the Vietnamese iced coffees! Loving the window service, hope they keep that!
Small cute cafe! They have a roasting machine which I thought was cool.
I went based on the recommendation of a friend and was rewarded with one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. Knowledgeable staff that was able to make great recommendations, superb selection of high quality beans.
Great selection of coffee and awesome knowledgeable staff to help you decide.
Tasty coffee, excellent service :)
Best espresso roast in town
Best freshly roasted coffee. I bring it with me around the world.
Awesome place, great fun.
Perfect espresso. Best that I've had in a long time.
The BEST coffee shop you'll ever find. Staff is great and knowledgeable. They have beans from all over the world and fire roast them in house. It is the only place I go to buy my beans
Great experience. Staff knows their beans. ???? It has been 25 years since I was last there but the aroma was as I remembered.
Good coffee. Too expensive
A long standing coffee shop in Kensington. The place has a lot of character and very good coffee. They always seem to be roasting beans on site. Must be because they sell so many different types of beans. The art displays and decor are unique. The art displays are consistently vhnaging as well. Not a huge number of places to sit but people are usually inside and out relaxing creating a a nice relaxing feel to the place.
This is my favourite place for americanos! Their cortados are amazing too!!! Highly recommend!
Always friendly, the coffee is delicious, and dogs are welcome.
One of the coolest coffee shop in Kensington! It's a small coffee shop with a rustic feel to it. Their coffee is fresh and they have a variety of coffee that they sell as well. The barista was really nice and knowledgeable. Absolutely a hidden gem.
Fantastically fresh coffee, roasted in front of you. It always smells delicious, and their espressos are the best in town.
Great coffees and hot chocolate. Great atmosphere and nice people.
Great beans and friendly people.
For me, the quality of the coffee, its presentation (I mean the bag!) and the one who roasts and sells coffee beans are important. If it's a matter for you, too go ahead and try this place. The coffee is fresh and perfectly roasted. I like the ambiance which brings you to the past with traditional coffee pots and grinders. I enjoyed watching and smelling the coffee beans while they are roasted and sipping my cappuccino in between! I went there once and I'm happy that I know The Roasterie now!
Amazing selection of in house roasted beans. Coffee is always super tasty.
Best coffee in town. Also a great selection of freshly in house roasted beans. My go to spot for a great coffee.
Excellent service with delicious food.
11/10. Would absolutely recommend to a friend. We exclusively buy our coffee beans from there because they are just so darn delicious. The staff are also laid back, and completely adorable, and lovely.
Gorgeous locally roasted coffee, lots of character and truly wonderful staff
My favorite coffee place in Calgary.
The best place in Calgary. Unique, local, great neighborhood.
Great coffee, super friendly people and nicely artsy fartsy. The coffee is fantastic. An eclectic mix of people frequent The Roasterie, half the enjoyment is watching and meeting interesting people. The music mix is just as eclectic as the people, usually it's new to me and interesting. I'm no smoker but I like that some people take time to sit outside and enjoy the sun, the flower beds and a cigarette. There are many, many beans to choose from. It feels more like a good wine bar than a simple coffee shop. With everything being fresh roasted on site, the staff are more like sommeliers than baristas. Ask them what they recommend, it changes with the roasting schedule.
Love their fresh beans.
It's being a long time that I was there but I was a frequent customer, I loved it, I stopped going as now I have a baby and this place is not kids/baby friendly. The place is very small so you may find there is no place for you to seat. Coffee is good!
Love the selection of coffee. Super disappointed they are no longer using the outdoor window. Was a perfect setup for Covid times. Would think all that needed was a gas line and small heater above to work well in any weather.
Great atmosphere, great coffee
Serious coffee for serious coffee love.
Cute, quaint little place with around 100 coffee grinders! Good drinks, friendly staff. A little pricey.
Super great!
A local institution in Calgary. They've been on 10th Street for a long time and the coffee is great. I was there for a bag of whole beans and have never been disappointed.
Some of the best coffee in the city, roasted right there. I love Cafe du Mond from NOLA but I love the Roasterie's New Orleans coffee just as much, if not more.
This is an old school wonder; the opposite of Starbucks. My favourite place to get an americano and to buy beans
Consistently serve excellent coffee. We also purchase our beans here, they have a great selection.
A little on the pricey side but with it for the coffee
Best coffee in kensington
I've been going here for years. Hands down the best place to go for amazing Americanos. Thanks John; Thank you Roasterie!
Great coffee, I always get beans for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loves it
The coffee is absolutely fantastic! The service is very attentive especially now during the pandemic. I will be back for sure.
A institution pouring brew sense my earliest memories
Fresh coffee
Cute but very confined. The coffee was pretty good.
My favourite coffee shop in Calgary. I used to hang and read here in the early 90's. And you never know who youre going to meet. I once talked to a fellow with sabre scars on his face from officer training from the old country. Pretty amazing
10/10 can smoke out front
best coffee in town. nothing beats having your coffee next to the roaster :-]
If the scent of roasting coffee beans doesn't entice you into this Kensington café, then its friendly staff and customers will. Best espresso I have ever had!
What a cool vibe. They roast their coffee in-house right in the middle of the coffee shop. My friend and I got a coffee roasting 101 from the gentlemen doing the roasting. All he beans are roasted fresh same day or within 1-2 days. You can order by the 1/4 lb too, which means my coffee beans are always fresh! I waited too long to go here because I thought it was too trendy. Turns it the is just OG!
Great coffee and atmosphere! Go on a Sunday to smell the coffee while it's being roasted
Love the coffee beans here
I love the Roasterie! Tasty coffee that's roasted in the store. They have a huge selection of instore roasted blends, so there should be something there for everyone. They are purists though so don't go in expecting a vanilla, half sweet, extra hot, no drizzle, extra foam Latte. They serve coffee and other staple espresso drinks and do it very well. I've been going for years and usually give away their roasted beans at Christmas. Check them out if you are in Kensington. They are easily the best coffee in the area if not the entire city.
The roast is my favorite spot in the entire city. Lovely baristas, friendly owners, amazing coffee, cozy space. I spent an entire summer going there every day to the point that I was probably annoying, but hell, it’s hard to not go back. The roast is home.
The best coffee you will find in the entire city. Old school craft and roasting right before your eyes. Small location and limited seating. But you'll never regret your trip. Make a point to go if you haven't.
Great selection of coffee and friendly staff.
Roast everything super dark, so not for everyone, but Imo the best espresso beans in town. Always busy and sometimes tough to get someone to grab you beans if they're busy pouring coffees, but it gives you time to enjoy the bustle and amazing smell
Great local coffee shop with awesome staff and amazing coffee. Try the Vanilla Bean Latte ???????? Support local business like The Roasterie!
Really awesome coffee and lattes.
Best coffee drinks and beans in Calgary.
Watching movies here with my kids was highlights of 2017 summer
Great atmosphere. Love the smell of fresh roasted coffee. They know the right way to make an Americano
Knowledgeable and kind staff, wide selection of coffee beans.
Best coffee in town! Always smells amazing when they’re roasting their beans every morning.
Love their highlander grogg.
I'm not much of a coffee drinker and the extent of my experience is Starbucks so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. I'm so glad I did... their April special is a Lavender Iced coffee and Dear Goddess... it was delicious!
Not bad. The atmosphere here is super hipster and the scents of roasting beans are very strong, but the coffee is quite good. One of the better coffee spots in Kensington.
Love the place! I get the Italian house blend beans. Used them on my barista express with a grind side of 2 (factor setting). Holy smokes - look at all that crèma !!
This is an amazing roasterie. It is understated, but has a very familiar and cozy feel that is like visiting a blacksmith, or armourer or something equally mystical. The man roasting the beans has a talent and an obvious passion and flow to his work. The servers are friendly and care about service and knowing their clientele. Top notch. It’s my new addiction!
Best place for beans in town. Brought in fresh and roasted in front of your eyes. Smell the jars, pick your beans and amount (any amount, 0.379 pounds if you please) and finally the grind, or just take the beans home whole. There has to be a good 20+ beans from around the world. Lots of heirloom beans as well. Always something new to try.
Have only been here a couple of times, but loved it every time. The staff are friendly, it smells nice, and the coffee tastes great. However, it's a small space, and there isn't much seating. It's an in-and-out type shop.
Best coffee in the city
Really like this little cafe! Grab a tea or coffee and sit outside in the little plaza. Thursdays they have a screening of independent movies. Cozy little coffee shop.
Love getting coffee beans from here. They're staff are wonderful & will grind for your needs. & their Instagram dog photo game is the best!
Excellent Espresso, hard to find. Best ive had in Calgary so far. ????
Always so delicious
Great selection of coffee beans & friendly service!
Grabbed a latte - service was fast and friendly enough. The latte was great.
Best place in Kensington. Old sentimental favorite.
Easily the best shop in Calgary for beans. They roast them to perfection. To be completely honest my favorite coffee roaster in Canada. They don't roast too light. Highly recommended A+. Also the vibe is very cool.
Mmmm it's coffee the drug of 21ST century
The Roasterie is an institution in coffee in Calgary. Well not really, it's a shabby hole in the wall over in Kensington, which was trendy at one time, because they had cafe au lait in cheap bowls at high temperatures that would burn the customers for an expensive price. So it was different from the Lido, up the street, the same Chinese food greasy spoon that you find in every Alberta small town, where the farmers gather to complain and therefore became a thing. Taken over by drug dealers and sordid types, with anxious and hostile mental problems, the trendy, aka people with jobs, moved on to the new arising competition, where they could have comfortable seats and the staff would not burn them. I moved on as well, as my habits changed and I dropped cigarettes, the place was and remains a haven for tobacco users, you can't sit outside without getting a lungful of second hand smoke. That was some 15 years ago and not much has changed. A new generation of new age nonsense recruiters have moved in and taken up residence, that's about it. They come in and spew tobacco breath and b.o. and patchouli oil. The notion of shared tables, if you are sitting by yourself reading and writing, is in force and you may find yourself with one of these creatures at your table, offended when you ask him to not roll joints at your table, or ask her for evidence for her beliefs on the afterlife, which she is spouting whether you want it or not. Offended they move on to sit and stare in anxious hostility until she, a cougar and a narcissist, unites with one of her cubs, and he, a flaming co-dependent, finds someone else to glom onto, as he can't stand being alone. Lovely. The staff is surly. I mean they don't even say thanks if you leave them a tip. They are the usual mix of university students and people mostly unemployable due to mental health issues, such as OCD. So they work cheap. One gentleman feels the need to organize every conversation he is within earshot of. Intrusion is the name of the game at the good ol roast. The place is shabby beyond belief, the owner is considered by the other business people as disrespectful to his clients, as he makes a living off them yet won't even install blinds on the windows or enforce cleanliness standards. I took my own cup as I don't see the staff washing hands very often, and they like to grab the cups around the rims before you put it to your lips. One day the owner said, ya I've got the flu, *shrug*, everyone here has it. The coffee is mundane, bitter, oily, considering what is available these days, even from the grocery store, it's low grade. But it's roasted right there you can see it being done, and the smoke intrudes into the neighborhood, like the customers and the staff, intruding into whatever you are doing, with their tobacco breath b.o. and mental issues. It's all very odd, sort of a adult day care for the mentally/emotionally challenged. I highly recommend, well, anywhere else really.
Sidewalks shovelled in front of entire building Poor civic pride and responsibility
In Calgary for a few days from Melbourne, looking for a good cup of coffee... this is it. Roast their own beans, and take time to learn how to use the espresso rig. Great coffee. Don't come here if you want a Frappacinno though!
Whenever I can, I come here for my coffee beans. Staff is always friendly and it's a great environment. It goes without saying, the coffee is great!
Smells amazing, good cafe music, cool vintage coffee accessories on the walls. Amazing atmosphere. Definitely check it out if you want some freshly roasted coffee!
The place is too crowded at least on sunday afternoons. The coffee doesn’t taste good.
Cozy atmosphere, very friendly staff, amazing coffee that's very reasonably priced. Love the energy in this place.
Our go to place whenever we visit Kensington. Highly recommended.
Always great
Found this coffee shop when exploring Kensington. The wonderful smell from the roastery was very inviting. I love the authenticity of the place, friendly staff and nice cappuccino using the bean I selected. I came back again the following day to try their Vietnamese coffee but disappointed on the taste, it's just wrong.
a gem of Kensington. authentic, atmospheric and social! there are always lots of interesting folk around, great smells and great service. i would suggest for a coffee date or some creative time. hope to see the roast in the years to come
Highlander Grogg beans, two thumbs up. Amazing aroma and taste
Best americano in Calgary. Hands down.
Always great, with great service and good vibes all around! For sure pop in for some coffee! Or a light snack Dark roast-Black is my favorite ????
Amazing coffee... Selection and staff...
Amazing customer service and unmatched selection of coffee
Amazing coffee beans.
Great selection of coffee, friendly staff and service
Friendly staff. Tasty coffee. Grateful to have this coffee shop in the neighbourhood.
A Calgary institution! Best coffee and beans in Calgary.
The Roasterie is my go-to coffee spot in Kensington, based largely on three things: its hours, its quality, and its service. The fact that The Roasterie is open until 10 on most nights makes it the perfect pit-stop at the beginning of a night out. The seats both outside and in offer some great spots to chill by yourself or mingle with friends and strangers, and the street-side window is amazing if you're riding by on your bike. The quality of the coffee is incredible. It is roasted in house (which is the gorgeous smell you get walking down that part of 10th St) and every member of staff there can walk you through what you're looking for. Even the simplest of drinks, like a brewed coffee, are absolutely delicious. I recommend the Danish Breakfast blend, by the way. Finally, the service is wonderful. As I mentioned above, everyone is available to assist and chat with you, but also friendly and interested. It's easy to strike up a great conversation with the staff, and they are always happy to answer questions. A staple shop for coffee in Kensington, and well worth your business.
Great Vietnamese Coffee!
Some of the best coffee in town. Not a typical business, they suit themselves to bring their own flair to the job which means you are not getting a cookie cutter Starbucks experience. That being said, Starbucks ain't got nothing on the coffee.
The best cafe americano in Calgary.
A true coffee lover will make this humble coffee shop their number one stop. They have wide selections of coffee beans and the aroma of their freshly brewed coffee is so captivating. How I wish I can wake up to this everyday. Really addicting! Their baristas are not only friendly, but knowledgeable.
They import the beans from all over the world, and roast them in a large vat right there in the coffee shop. Never a fresher more robust flavor you'll find. Good prices as well. My favorite coffee shop in Calgary.
Amazing coffee and knowledgeable staff. As a coffee nerd the only issue I had is that I hadn’t found this place sooner! I had an aero press which was great. The staff were friendly and really knew their stuff. Coffee nerds, this is the place for you.
Superb coffee. Lovely staff. Definitely the hipster vibe. Selling coffee through the window. Inside is closed due to COVID-19.
My favorite place to get acup of coffee aswell as fresh ground coffee in the city. Love this place. It's the soul of Kensington.
Good Latte. Small location. Independent, I think.
Love coming down to this place for a coffee:) When you get an aero press, you get handed the scoop to pick from the beans they roast! I forget which day, but some days they are roasting beans right in front of you which is pretty cool!
Excellent service! Great help if you don't know much about coffee. Huge variety of coffee!
Best in Calgary! I will go as far as saying in Canada!
Really nice, welcoming place for a coffee. Tried the mocha, and it was divine!
Great neighborhood coffee spot with cute decor. Inside, there's a separate counter if you want to order a fresh batch of grounded coffee beans. Staff is nice. Not a good place to work from, though.
Great spot and massive selection to try.
Really hip. Great coffee roasted in store
Good coffee
Great local spot. Roasting on site. Great selection. Amazing staff. Local gem.
One of my favourite spots in town. Go for a Bon Bon coffee of Vietnamese (cold version of it). I also enjoy the cauliflower scones they offer, it is a great match with the suggested coffee. Great service, great options if you are a coffee lover
Line up move quick, hard to hear the staff with the traffic. Friendly knowledge staff
Nothing but great coffee. No banners or messaging to turn me off. 10 outa 10. I'll be back!
Great atmosphere, staff were nice , coffee was dope , and the prices were reasonable.
Best coffee in the city. The first stop on any day trip to Kensington.
My favourite coffee in the world.
Absolutely love their americanos and the smell of fresh roasted coffee beans in the morning.
what a lovely coffee shop in the heart of Kensington. great staff, and amazing drinks. I love going there.
Great coffee and friendly staff
The Highlander Groggy coffee makes me a much nicer person on the weekends.
Nice place to pick up some locally roasted coffee beans.
Best place for a coffee in Calgary. Fresh roasted beans done right in front of you
Fantastic coffee roasted on site. Beautiful creamy espresso. Very friendly staff!
Had good coffee
Coffee is a little bit too burnt for my preference, but if you like dark roast coffee. This is the place for you!
Best coffee I've ever had.
Probably my favorite coffee shop ever! Been around for a long time without succumbing to the modernization that has been plaguing the Kensington area. Oh that sweet smell of fresh roasted coffee! Mmmmm!
Good coffee and a laid back atmosphere.
Best place to buy coffee beans in the city.
The most authentic way to have your morning cup serves!
DAMMMNNN SHAWTYY HAAA OK !!!!
If you like buy coffee beans this is the best place for that, bit variety and good quality
Great place for evening rest
My favourite coffee in the world.
The coffee is fantastic here. One of my favorite places for sure! Keep up the great work :)
One of Kensington's local gems. Great coffee, friendly staff. Awesome spot to hang out or a quick stop at the walk by window on the street to get your coffee on the go.
If you need beans, or a perfectly made drink, just go here. The service is top-notch. The beans are amazing. Try the beans from India! They are my go-to regular bean. Of course I always like to try new types of beans from all over the world...which is why, as I said, I get my beans from here.
Best ☕ coffee, selection, flavours, rustic ambience, friendly staff, and the best hot chocolate you could ever desire.
Lean mean coffee bean machine!
Why are there PIT BULLS and other customer dogs in here .GROSS . UNSANITARY. dogs breathing all over the place .also so much clutter all over the walls its covered in a thick layer of old dust . Dirty. Proably dirtier than the pizza place across from it . Not buying anything from this hole. Also hobos all over the front .
Went when they were really busy and was impressed by the girls behind the counter. They helped you pick out a flavor and type of coffee and filed your order quickly. Don't know what kind of money they make but hope the owners appreciate the service these ladies give. They are very good. Thank you!
Down to earth place to meet people and have a good dish to share.
Good unpretentious drip coffee, great selection of beans.
Great double americano
The coffee was awful. It was easily the worst coffee I have drunk while holidaying in Canada. I could only take two sips. I ordered a soy latte. This cafe roasts a large variety of beans which convinced my family and I that it must make good coffee. You can roast the best beans in the world but if the barista isn't good then you will more than likely receive a poor coffee.
Staff was very knowledgeable we're able to give me the perfect beverage based on my description of what I was looking for.
Excellent service. Fantastic coffee!
Wonderful experience. They now have gallery space for patrons to peruse while they wait for their coffee. I thought I had walked into the wrong place even with the arrows, but the smell of roasting beans confirmed the location ☕
These guys sell fresh roasted coffee from all over the world and its as good as it gets.
Go for their Danish Breakfast blend and savour the richness of the flavours longest running coffee roaster in the city and thus provider of crafted roasted beans.
Best coffee in Calgary. Hands down. A pillar of the community.
Best coffee in town, hands down. Dozens of beans. Their flat white(the bruce) is to die for.
This long-standing neighbourhood coffee house is popular with the locals. its main feature is a coffee roasting machine in a corner of the cafe. You know you're getting freshly roasted coffee when the beans are being roasted right in front of you! It's a small shop without a lot of tables inside. If you are there is not a lot of room. But it's closed for indoor seating right now anyway. Thankfully there is a plaza outside with a number of places to sit down. That is fine at least when the weather is warm. They also feature a walk up coffee ordering window which is presently the only way they can serve you.
The cities best brew hands down...
Cute coffee shop with fresh beans!
Great coffee, good conversations.
My partner and I love the variety The Roasterie offers. We love a good Chai Latte and they got it right! Very consistent and efficient!
Lovely service, great selection. A little dark on the roast for my personal taste preferences now.
Very nice good food and service.
Excellent range of full bean coffees (they sell brewed coffee and pastries too).
Great coffee place with personnality and large selection of beans to enjoy on the spot or bring back home.
Great little cafè. Nothing too fancy, just good coffee.
A hidden gem with excellent coffee / espresso and fresh roasted beans.
The place is lovely and cozy, and the wonderful surprise for me, was the presence of Yemeni coffee
Love the sidewalk espresso counter.
The only place in the city to get FRESH coffee beans. Warning: Once you try it, you get spoiled and won't want any other pre-packed commodity coffee from the stores ever again !!! Keep up with the awesome work guys! Staff is amazing! ❤
This place is a GEM! I tried their special Uganda and Indian coffee which was the special of the day. Was just amazing!! So creamy flavours without the cream. This place has been here for 35years and I totally understand why and also am happy that they had a sign saying "do not speak statbucks nor tim hortons" lol sooo funny. Will definitively be back here soon.
Just a well rounded coffee shop the specializes in different brews. Good vibes and just a nice to relax and have a conversation. Also never too busy ulike coffee shops in the area.
Great local coffee shop with amazing coffee. They are dog friendly, too!!
Best cozy coffee and nice community feels.
best coffee shop ever.
Best coffee in town and free movie night every Thursday!
the smell of freshly roasted coffee in this place is so worth going out of the way to get a coffee here.
Huge variety of beans, roasted in house, with a gas roaster. Smell when you walk in was heavenly. Bought 4 quarter pound bags of coffee for my friend as a present, staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
Very poor customer service. I phoned to ask a simple question and was interrupted multiple times before I could finish and then told to come in to ask my question during the week. It was a simple question and I found the employee/owner very rude.
They roast coffee beans right at this coffee shop. You can buy coffee drinks and also freshly roasted coffee beans here as well. Wonderful coffee aroma when you enter the shop. Not a lot of seatings here though.
A pretty cool place to visit. They roast their own beans in house and you can also buy roasted coffee beans.
Barista is knowledgeable about coffee and recommends the coco-moko.
Best tasting coffee. Plenty of variety.
Small store but the roasted beans I get there are phenomenal! I especially like the Kenya AA and Dominican roasted beans. The former for an everyday coffee and latter for an after dinner brew. They also sell cups of different coffees.
Great old school vibe to this place. Great spot to hang out indoors or outdoors at the little plaza in front. Reasonable prices. Good strong coffees. A long time favourite that still rates high in my books.
The staff was pleasant and very patient in explaining the drinks. If you've never tried the cafe colada would highly recommend as an iced coffee. They make it superbly! The ambience is also very quaint and cosy. Great for a quiet afternoon coffee break
Favorite weekend spot, staff is always nice, and practically the only place in Calgary with a good Jazz selection. Worth the trip, always a treat. A last vestige of human interaction from all walks and all types, in the face of the common and the mundane. There will be second-hand smoke in the courtyard, as there will be at The Second Cup down the street, but certainly there will be many more friends, much more human decency, and the outright refusal to accept the hostility and entitlement of our consumerist society. If nothing else, they make a damn good cup of coffee.
The cappuccino is so big and the bombon is full of flavor!
Best beans I've had in Canada!
First visit was in 89, and I keep coming back. This is the best coffee in the city.
Best of the best!
Not my style of coffee usually but I'm always drawn back by the atmosphere. Great place to hang out.
Really impressed with the the selection of coffee beans but wasn't impressed with my latte...it tasted like a brewed coffee with milk added...maybe I was given someone else's order in error...not sure and didn't ask. I ordered a single shot of expresso later and enjoyed it!
My favourite coffee shop. Love the mocha made with chocolate milk. Espresso seems to be an Italian blend and all the visitors seem confident in the variety of drinks they receive. Baristas are knowledgeable and certain have some interesting stories and music. Eclectic would be a word I use to describe this place and many visitors. He I keep coming back for the last 5 years
Best coffee in town
enjoyed the food..sevice was good. nice and friendly..
A quirky little lovely place!
Service and selection was outstanding Had my fav coffee brand for xmas
Best coffee in Calgary
Nothing wrong with decaf, especially if you have an allergy to caffeine. This shop seems to absolutely detest decaf, as their marketing slate states today, 'We laugh in the face of decaf, even though we roast it.' (Not the first time) $20/month in beans (decaf) and $40/month in beverage (decaf) sales going up the street. They want your decaf order so they can laugh at you. Apparently a very judgemental staff that doesn't realize decaf tastes just like caffeinated, and that some people like the flavour of coffee without the buzz. They really should appreciate all of their customers and not alienate some of them.
The smell !!!! If you are a coffee lover you would LOVE the smell of this place . Warm freshly roasted coffee beans aroma fills this small coffee shop all the time as they have a coffee roaster onsite. The service is friendly, excellent coffee .
This is the BEST coffee house in calgary no frills all quality. Their bonbon coffee vienna coffee and my personal fav a new orleans blends for those who like it dark are all exceptional. This place is the real deal. Wont find hipsters overpaying for burnt coffee here, just people who love a good java.
Cozy. Coffee. Community. As a de facto town square, this coffee shop and roastery is more than good coffee and familiar faces: an anchor of all that remains quirky and unique about Kensington and Sunnyside. A remnant of the community before the cold business of BRZ's, glass and concrete shop fronts and condos tore through the gentle poetry of our social fabric. Cherish it.
Excellent selection of beans, roasted in house in small batches. Very reasonable prices, staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Been going there for 25 years. Never get tired of the aroma of fresh roasted coffee !
Best coffee ever ! The staff is great no exception . When I drink my espresso there it almost feels like home .
Truly enjoyed their Saigon coffee! Pulled espresso with brown sugar then topped with cream.
Fantastic coffee, great service, friendly staff. Nice comfortable atmosphere.
Fascinating.
Best coffee in the world! We have been buying our beans here since the day Lech opened the Roasterie over 30 years ago.We make sure to stock up and bring our beans when we travel! Just the best coffee.
Great coffee and atmosphere.
go here to learn about coffee. tasty iced drinks
It's as local as a Canadian coffee roasting shop can be. It's funky and cozy.
Always good strong espresso with a Polish touch :)
Best coffee in Calgary :)
Fresh roasted coffee. Need I say more.
Friendly environment and my go to for Vietnamese coffee on a hot day anywhere in the city
I enjoyed my time at this location, making fun of people while in Calgary, and have heard nothing but great things about it from the people I have mentioned it too. Great place to hang out with fellow neck-beards. If you have a v-necked shirt, converse, and skinny jeans you will love this place. Probably even more if you have rolled your skinny jeans up enough that your ankles are showing... They offer a number of items with healthy buzz words that are sure to make you feel like you are contributing to the world and making it a better place with out actually doing anything to do so. The location is ideal if you want to purchase some ironic t-shirts and vinyl pressing of your favorite obscure band to go with your beverage, with a gorgeous backdrop of Memorial Park and downtown Calgary. If I were to write an Indy movie screenplay about how rough it is being a millennial this would be the place to get it done!
Coffee is tastey, staff is friendly and helpful. Located in a compact little hut, not much room to sit down work on a paper.
They are awesome here. Friendly and helpful staff. Very knowledgeable about beans :)
God tier coffee! They roast about 30 different varieties and helped start a roasting association that spread across North America. I can't say enough good things about this shop. I make a stop everytime I'm in Kensington.
Nice place.
The girl with the short brown hair was the sweetest and most lovely person I have ever met. She made me a wonderful coffee!
Awesome place to check out! Happened to have time in the morning so i thought id check it out and it was awesome. The barista was knowledgeable and friendly. And for once i enjoyed a sugar free latte and loved it ❤
I am a 27 year old lady who loves trying coffee from unique cafes all over the world. I heard about this coffee shop with an interesting atmosphere and came with my daughter to enjoy a drink. My daughter and I were utterly horrified by …
The best coffee in the city
Ordered a large coffee with milk no sugar. The brown haired young lady smiled not nicely, them made the coffee and added brown powder. I asked her, what is that you added? She said milk and coffee. Then what is that last thing you added I asked again. She repeated milk and coffee. The manager interrupted and said we can remake it. I said no, I would like a refund. She said yes. Before I could receive my refund, the light haired young man with glasses and tattoo on his arm started yelling and standing very close to me and said to leave. I said stand back. He refused and continued yelling. I said to the manager lady I want an apology from this young man. He said no. The manager then started apologizing. I said no. Not from you. From him. I said if I don't get an apology from him I am leaving a review. Still no apology from him. I left and told him to enjoy his review, the owner is going to fire him. So here it is. If you go there and don't see these people, please disregard this review. Voice of ID, justice.
This roaster is a nice little gem in the Kensington neighborhood. Small, but the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Not pretentious at all. You can either buy whole or ground coffee beans of your choice or order a fresh cup of coffee. Beans are not cheap, but quality is top-notch!
The smell of fresh coffee fills the air as you walk in with friendly knowledge staff ready to help you with all your coffee and coffee bean needs.
Floor's a bit hard
Great coffee from round the world. Roast the right way
The best coffee I have ever had and a unique environment
Got an ice brew coffee. Asked for just a little bit of ice. He said ok. I got a tiny cup half full of Ice and then, to make things even better, he filled it 3/4 to the the top. I had maybe a cpl ounces of ice brew coffee....
Our favourite coffee shop in Calgary. Definitely try their London Fog Latte!
Happened to drive by. Stopped and went inside with my wife to grab a coffe. Awesome
Best coffee in Calgary none better
Best espresso beans maybe in North America
Very Friendly. I go there about once a week. Great atmosphere.
THANK YOU FOR BEING OPEN! I really enjoy trying the many options of coffee roasts available, and this morning being able to pick up a soy cappuccino just made my day/weekend/week! The roasterie’s espresso drinks are stellar :)
Very unpolite and rude owner
Hands down best coffee in the city. You can’t truly call yourself a Calgarian until you’ve bought a bag of House blend from the Roasterie. Zajebiście!
The friendliest cafe I've been to!.
unparallel coffee selection, absolute angel staff. 11/10
Amazing selection of coffee
Bitter and muddy, no clear flavour profile on the single origin roasts. Bless the kind souls who work here for soldiering on despite the poor quality. Save your money and walk to any one of the other roasters within downtown.
The best. I come from out of town to stock up on coffee here
A lovely, cozy place that always smells like fresh roasted coffee. Very friendly staff and great coffee and variety.
Great coffee and espresso, friendly staff.. after a year in Calgary it's definitely my top coffee shop spot. I updated Google maps with their summer hours. They never update their hours online which is slightly frustrating when it's like 4-6 hours incorrect on Sunday for example. I'll try to remember to update again when it's back to their winter hours. Hey friends, back to update their hours of operation because every day has changed. Enjoy your coffee. Do it yourself next time Roasterie. - winter 2018 Howdy y'all! just back again updating their hours for summer 2019.. enjoy! If I move, someone will have to take over. Edited hours again for winter 2019.. hopefully doesn't take 3 months for Google to approve the update again. Edit: nice, back to updating instantly.
Awesome as always. The coffee is exactly what and how I love it and stuff is very friendly and could recommend what you are looking for. The variety of beans from different countries are freshly made and smells fantastic. Thank you. I will be back for beans or cup of coffee ☕❤
Nice staff, very tasty food. Plus, in this location tables are more available than in Ramsay. My favorite: chorizo hash and traditional Benny. Yummy! Please be ready to be full all day long after having food here. :)
Skilled baristas and amazing coffee! They have a huge range of beans to choose from too.
Wonderful coffee and beans.
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the place smells ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
There's no question in my mind this is the best, most impressive coffee shop I've ever seen. Walk in and the smell of fresh roasted coffee and view of the spitting fire immediately immerses you in coffee heaven. We spend maybe a couple of dollars more per pound than the grocery store to get coffee that is in a different league entirely. Their coffee and selection is phenomenal. The staff is always lovely and knowledgeable. Thanks so much Roasterie!!!!!
Great coffee!
Pretentious but the espresso is great
Best latte in town and has such a friendly feel.
Great coffee, awesome atmosphere.
Great coffee they roast in-house in full view. This is a no frills shop with only a few indoor tables but a number of small tables outside.
I've been going here for over 15 years. I highly recommend the double chestnut
The staff are nice and friendly. One of good places to drink coffee in Calgary.
Love the espresso!
2 stars for the Vietnamese iced coffee... although it was sweet for my taste. Environment was different.
Best coffee spot in town. Love the drip.
During pandemic, best hot chocolate ever! (Hazelnut with marshmallows!!!) YUM!!! ????
