The new location is great, with a rotating “test kitchen” cafe for startups and roasters to showcase their coffee —it’s awesome. My 8oz order arrived quickly and was very well packed. Real plus is that 8oz uses Shopfiy which just speeds things along. I ordered a VCG-15 Hario 450ml glass. It rates a 10/10. Also got a great price on Kalita Wave 185 bulk filters.

I ordered a Porlex Mini Handgrinder from EightOunceCoffee 2 years ago. The grinder arrived quickly and my partner and I spent the next 2 years enjoying fresh ground coffee beans on all our outdoor adventures. Recently the nut piece that attaches the handle to the grinder had become warped (a defect I had read about that happens eventually due to the handle not sitting straight when grinding). This caused the handle to constantly pop off when grinding-frustrating but manageable. I sent EightOunceCoffee an email to see if they would sell a replacement part-instead they asked for a copy of the receipt, informed me the grinder was still under warranty and sent me a brand new one-all in the space of 1 week. Top notch company! Would definitely order from them again!

I purchased a manual coffee grinder (just in case I travel and want top notch coffee) and a cold coffee brewer from their website. I also purchased some spare parts for coffee gear I already own. Everything arrived in perfect condition and very neatly packaged. One of the spare parts should have had some hardware with it but didn't. After communicating with Eight Ounce Coffee by email (with accompanying pictures), they responded quickly and professionally and sent me the missing hardware which were received within the week. They appreciated that I made them aware of this issue. I would recommend buying from Eight Ounce Coffee anytime!! I'm a very happy customer.

I have been brewing pourovers with my chemex for about four years and came to Eight Ounce while running other errands because they were the only ones with unbleached prefolded square filters in stock. Not only did they have some for me but I spent a very pleasant ten minutes chatting coffee with Josh and his colleague, and walked away with this quality metal filter that has really improved my Chemex brews and which was recommended by Josh based on his personal experiences at home and as a barista. I really appreciated that the Eight Ounce folks weren't trying to upsell me into a more expensive or currently promoted system but were just focusing on helping me make better coffee. I had a massive problem: my Baratza grinder broke down and I didn't know what to do. I had troubleshooted it by following the instructions on Baratza's webiste. However, sadly, it turned out I needed a new part but I didn't know it. I decided to go back to Eight Oucne where I had originally bought my grinder and was 100% set on buying a new one. I met with a girl at the front and told her my reasons on why I wanted to buy a new one. She looked perplexed and went to the back to talk to Wes, who later came out and, rather than allowing me to buy a new grinder ($300 worth) he suggested we talk to Baratza. After getting off the phone, Baratza was going to send me a new motor but it was going to take around 2 weeks. I was both happy and sad because I was going to fix my grinder for $0 but I had no way of grinding my coffee beans. Wes was so incredibly gracious and kind (I don't think he really remembered me since I'm sure he's since hundreds of people) but he let me borrow a grinder on good faith. All he asked for in return were updates on my grinder and to return the grinder when I had fixed mine. I honestly don't know how to thank him and his team there. They're honestly the best and really, truly put customer happiness as a top priority!! Thanks a million!

I find it interesting that Google Reviews submitted a review that I didn't make I was waiting to unpack my purchase and try it out prior to submitting a review. In saying that, now here's my review. Service staff is very friendly and seems knowledgeable enough. Items appear to be more geared towards the pro-consumer market. Nice to see items required were in stock and available. Items work well and overall, I'm happy with my purchase. Quite disappointed to be rejected for wholesale pricing. As I've been a Canadian businessman for almost 20 years, I pride myself in supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, it appears that this philosophy is not supported by this business. Seeing I was physically in the store at the time, someone coming out of the back, sitting down with me and discussing the issue would have been more personable and much more professional, than sending an email with, in my honest opinion, a lame excuse. Businesses either thrive or fail based on customer service. A small customer today could be a big customer tomorrow. My personal experience has been that the small customers keep me afloat during hard times. I find it shocking that US companies are more than willing to offer discounts and exemplary customer service - no questions asked. I honestly don't understand why this does not transcend North of the border. Perhaps I should take my business South. Based on my one time experience, I'd say that this business is good for in stock items that you can pick up the same day. For major purchases on big ticket items, I'll be doing my homework first.

I have ordered coffee products twice now from eight ounce. Both times they provided friendly and personal service with which I was very impressed. The first time I ordered a chemex brewer and keep cup for a friend. When the order was missing filters I let them know via email and received a response + the filters very quickly without any hassle or extra charges. The second time I ordered more keep cups because they are great and I received a hand written note along with a special extra item with the order. Heard really awesome things about this local distributor from others but my experience was not so awesome. I purchased a Porlex grinder from a local coffee shop and used it 5 times within 2 weeks and experienced problems with the ceramic burr. I contacted Eight Ounce since warranties for Porlex grinders purchased in Canada are covered under here and they are the distributors for Porlex products. They confirmed there was a problem and did nothing. I was told that damages to burrs are not covered and asked to purchase a replacement burrset instead (which was not available). It does not make any sense that a new product used less than 10 times would need replacement. I question if these products are really imported from Japan as the quality is not up to standard and there is no product guarantee.

What an experience!! Needing a new grinder, my wife and I headed to Eight Ounce Coffee. Simply put, it was worth the trip from the far NW. Wes and his staff are amazing, not knowing too much about the in and outs of coffee grinders and coffee in general we were looking for information and advice. After a great welcome upon walking in the store we were treated to a cappuccino first thing before we even started talking all things coffee. After some great advice and a few demonstrations back to the grinders we went. Wes was knowledgable and we never felt pressured into a purchase nor rushed for his time. The atmosphere is casual and oriented toward just being relaxed and learning some new things. No need to be shy if your skills in "coffee speak" are limited, they can teach you a thing or two without having the feeling of being intimidated by their knowledge. The flavor notes on the cards provided are very accurate and interesting as to the origin of the beans with a bit of a history! Very cool. Update: Ok so i'm going to update my review as i do think that how companies deal with critical reviews demonstrate their ethos. First two things is that i was unaware when i bought these products shipments would be delayed as i didn't land on their homepage rather linked from google directly to the product page, and my confirmation email did not state that it would be delayed either, i can fwd this if need be. With that being said most importantly they did try to make it right and confirmed that in normal situation they ship next day which is important to someone like me when ordering beans. I will give them another try and see how ship times are and hope for the best as they do have a nice selection of hardware and beans. ------------------------------------------------------ Ordered an able Kone filter and transcend argyll blend coffee on feb 17 , took them way too long to ship even after a few emails and it didn’t get shipped out till mar 1st. Shipping took 3 days received it today March 3. I think like most people we are not expecting Amazon ship times but this is a lengthy amount of time to wait for beans as you are expecting to refill the hopper. To top it off the coffee was roasted on feb 4 so much older them I’m use to receiving , I would say that I typically like to get my coffee 2-3 weeks from roast date max so a bit too late for me . I think I’ll stick with my normal online coffee vendors if it’s for beans, might order hardware if I’m not in a rush .
