Coffee is amazing and with a selection of seasonal drinks and pastries there always something new to try. The staff have always been friendly and helpful, I often ask for recommendations when I wanna try something new and have never been let down. This place is perhaps my favourite coffee shop in town and I don't get a chance to drop by nearly enough!

First of all, good food. But the coffee... I ordered an americano. They pulled the shot way too quickly (6 seconds) and then continued to pull water through the old grounds to fill up the cup, instead of adding hot water. Pretty disappointed for a place that seems to pride itself on coffee.

I've been a frequent customer of City Roast since 2012. I've purchased dozens of meals from this establishment over the past 7 years. Today I discovered the price my favourite sandwich has went up yet again (this time quite substantially). I proceeded to purchase the sandwich and got it to go. When I got back to work I discovered the bread was quite stale and crumbly... This is not the first time I've had stale bread from this restaurant but it will be the last time - I shall not be back.

I really love how there's a selection of food options that meets ones special dietary needs (Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian) and still taste great! It is on the pricey side but you know every thing is made and baked fresh. The staff is friendly and welcoming! Atmosphere is cozy and warm. I'm always going for their specials! There's usually some thing new on the board to try each day.

Always had a great sandwich here. Stop in and enjoy a reasonably priced, homemade sandwich with great flavour. Their carrot cake is also fantastic! In the summer heat the Air conditioning keeps the atmosphere very comfortable so it's a nice spot to escape the heat for a bite to eat.

Although my espresso was very much drinkable unlike most of Canada, I'd suggest to buy better beans, there's room for improvement) Friendly staff, nice place! PS. One more thing that I can't grasp: why there's no espresso available in the whole city after 5 pm?! Why is everyone closed? Update: Been there again. This time my espresso was awful. Disappointed

I came here for Gluten-free coffee and snack on a Saturday morning. I was disappointed that there was no egg meal choices. GF choices may be available but menu did not make it obvious. Very pleasant cafe wirh mellow music and outdoor seating. An excellent meeting spit. Serious coffee choices.

If you're looking for good coffee in a relaxing atmosphere without the pretension, City Roast Coffee is a good bet. They take espresso seriously here. It's hard to believe that, even though they're surrounded with it, they actually have any competition whatsoever. They serve up the best cappuccinos I have ever had ... EVER. There isn't a better coffee shop in the city.

Lets say it like it is. Sure the downtown rent is probably higher then alot of places, but upwards of 3-4$ for a peice of banana bread is more like tourist trap prices. Perhaps a 2$ an up cookie is your thing? And after watching them bring in the yellow cans of diced tomatoes they just bought at the superstore hardly constitutes organic or again, the hugely inflated price. And the coffee, well, it may be slightly better then a gas station, but only slightly.

This is a great place to go to when you are up for a unique cafe experience! The menu is HUGE there is something for everyone! Smoothies, Italian soda, cremosa, soup, sandwiches, sweet treats, gluten free options, and of course different roasts! They have a neat roaster in the building you can check out! There's always room for seating here, never has been too noisy, and they showcase local artworks! Their seasonal drinks are unique and you gotta come in every month to see the new selection! Fresh goodies, kind staff, clean cafe, nice location in downtown!

Ordered an Americano this morning. Was charged $3.75. An Americano is just espresso with hot water. They sell an espresso for $3. When asked why I was charged 75 cents for water I was told by the clerk "that's the way it is" and to go "down the street to Tim Hortons". Don't waste cash on a parking meter downtown, take this clerks advice and go to Tim Hortons. Also, the coffee is bland. A very disappointing experience from a first time customer.

I wouldn’t recommend anything off of their menu. No one wants to spend their hard earned money on an 8$ coffee drink with utter garbage espresso, or no-name brand ingredients in almost all their “fresh” month-old undated food. The new owners don’t really know much about espresso, running a business, or food quality standards.

Great place with a more comfortable atmosphere than some other coffee places downtown. Not pretentious, just good food and drink! Prices are comparable to Starbucks, but I prefer supporting local. I had an India Smog and a blueberry bagel. Both were fantastic! I also took a couple goodies to go, but haven't tried them yet.

This is our favourite stop for lunch when travelling south from Edmonton. Everything is always so fresh and delicious, even our 2-year old toddler says "yummy!". We love the large variety of coffees that we can pick and choose from and treat ourselves to something sweet to go with the coffee. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We simply love this place!
