The system never worked properly. After five years, the outside ductless split machine was replaced, but there was little difference in the system operation. The difference between the desired temperature and the actual temperature could be as much as five degrees! It was manageable. In the sixth year, their tech arrived an hour late for the appt without calling. He tried to remove the casing from the head for several minutes, yanking and pulling before he realized that some screws had not yet been removed. He dropped a screw but did not pick it up, so when he closed up the machine it was missing a screw. Also, there was a part on the floor which he claimed did not belong to the machine even though it clearly did. I sent him on his way without completing the work. That particular head has not worked properly since he did whatever he did,. Now it produces a loud rattling noise. The owner won't authorize this damage to be repaired unless I get annual maintenance performed FIRST (for $190). I believe that the tech damaged it, so the company should repair it. Furthermore, his tech emphasized that a part requires replacing, but again, no warranty work until annual maintenance has been performed! There is four years left on the warranty and annual maintenance has been performed on-schedule, or early, EVERY year since installation. The owner was most rude over the telephone even though he started off polite enough. Having been on good terms with this company, its techs, and the other part-owner for six years, it is evident that this is retaliation for not allowing an incompetent to work on my system. He had a chance, but screwed up multiple times before I sent him away. The proof is the loud rattling sound the unit now produces and the part he left on the floor when he left my home.

Can't really comment on their workmanship because twice for two different items I have tried to hire them. Both times I spoke with reception and they said they'd call back. Never heard from them. They must have plenty of work. I'm doing a Reno on an apartment right behind their store. It would have been convenient but maybe a good thing to have had someone else do the work as maybe their service would have been the same.

I called them because my heat pump was not working and my smart thermostat (Both Nest and Ecobee) were being damaged when connected to the system. They visited me 3 times before I decided to take my business elsewhere. 1. The first visit the person replaced a fuse in the heat pump, and suggested I might be low of refrigerant and someone else would attend to refill the refrigerant. 2. The second visit the person refilled the refrigerant and said the system was now perfectly normal. I asked if he could find the leak, he said he was not able to, but put dye inside so it would leave a mark should it be leaking again. Which I find odd because this summer the cooling was working great and if I understood correctly, he claimed to have put 10 pounds of refrigerant, which means the whole system would have been near empty. But I have no way to check that so I have to trust them on it. Anyway, a few minutes after the person left, my Ecobee started overheating as it was receiving way too much voltage. I unplugged the thermostat and had to schedule a third call for services, asking for their more knowledgeable technician. 3. A third technician came, checked a few voltages and said everything was good and that the system was perfect. I asked if the smart thermostat could be installed again and he said no, as it would most likely be damaged. I questioned how he could on one hand tell me that everything was normal and on the other hand say that the thermostat would get damaged, given that there was no incompatibility issues between both. Speaking with support from both Nest and Ecobee, and also with a "Nest Pro" technician from the US, I was told that installing isolation relays could help protect the thermostat. The BG technician said he didn't thinka relay could solve the problem. The technician said he would do some research and come back to me. I received a call back in which the technician said he didn't know how to fix the problem. That's it. So I turned to HVAC forums and was asked to take pictures. I went outside and found my heatpump covered in snow. I was shocked since the last snowfall predated the attendance of the third technician. Meaning it was already full of snow and not running when I told me that the whole system was working great. I called a different HVAC company and they actually took the time to diagnose the problem. They found the following: 1. The fuse had blown again 1.2 But instead of just replacing it, they wondered why it blew. 2. They found a harness of loose wire, one of which was touching the casing and causing a short. They removed the loose wires and did some cable management inside the heatpump. 3. They found that when the heat pump is in defrost mode, it sends voltage back up the OB wire, which damaged thermostats without mechanical relays (like the Nest and Ecobee) 3.1 So they installed a relay in the furnace to protect the OB wire. I have been running my smart thermostat just fine since and the fuse on the heat pump has not blown out. So BG Services: - They were very polite - The booking process was very convenient - They appeared very efficient at dealing with common issues But: - They were unable to do a proper diagnostic of the problem - They never questioned why the fuse burn out - They gave up on the problem. So I guess I would recommend them if you need basic services or maintenance done, but I would not recommend them at all if you need more complex diagnostics done. Also, on Jan 25th, I contacted them asking approximately how much I was owing them so far, and as of today (Feb 12th), I still have not received an answer to that question, or an invoice.

After my outdoor unit developed a leak back in February I had called a company to come diagnose the fault, they hooked up their gauges and said it was empty. They were going to charge me $375 to pressure test it with nitrogen, I declined. I called BG and very glad I did. They came out a day or two after my call, pressure tested it and identified the leak for under $100. They sent me the quote and we had the unit replaced recently. They leveled the ground and trimmed the bushes during installation where the stand was placed. I would highly recommend BG and I will be a customer for life.

Unlike a couple other local HVAC companies, BG Services provided us with a quote breakdown for a HRV installation. The others refused to explain how they arrived at their quotes. March 2019 Had LG Prestige heat pump instaled today. BG crew arrived on time and answered all questions about outdoor unit placement. Work was done in less time that we expected and with minimal disruption for us. To early to comment on the unit itself but experience with install is promising good relationship with BG Services. November 2020 An update on our review of BG Services. This summer we had BG Service in our home to do yearly maintance on the heat pump. Because of Covid we had to wait little longer for technician to be able to come to our home. We were able to get an appointment and technician Jacob came to do cleaning and servicing. During inspection he found an issue with indoore unit which he thought it might be covered by warranty. Meg from office confirmed that they had replacement unit on order and it would be covered under the warranty. Situation with Covid made getting new unit very difficult and Meg kept us informed on regular basis. When it arrived at BG, she called us and scheduled install. Jacob was very efficient and did clean work with replacement. As promised by BG when we bought heat pump, we didn't have to pay for any part of this service (unlike some other stories that we have heard about some companies charging service calls even for warranty work). To summarise, doing regular maintenance has paid of for us and we will make sure it is done on time to be able to keep warranty alive. Choosing BG Services was right decision and will happily recommend them to everyone.

I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone I know, we’ve called them 3 months ago because our brand new ducted heatpump wasn’t heating unless in emergency heat, they informed us they would be back within a week. We’ve followed up with them and they keep saying next week, next week, now it’s been 3 months the a/c doesn’t work either. Really Unsatisfied with this company.

I know it's been less than a week, but everything so far has been top notch. Service and any other interaction with staff has been great. I plan to update this as time goes on, since I know a review only means something when there is time behind it. Edit: I am not very happy, the NB power rebate program was not communicated well to me and I just lost out on $1000 rebate. I did not understand that I had to get the audit done before the installation and I feel that they really should have asked me before scheduling my installation if I had the audit done yet, since I said one reason I was buying was to get the rebate. Update: it's been a year and we saved quite a bit in the winter and summer months. The heat is awesome and the cool is great in the summer. Dehumidification in the basement was worth it, much nicer in the summer, especially since I had to work there theirs year. Missing out on the rebate was frustrating, but the heat pump was worth it. Upped to 5 stars.

Heat pump cooling space nicely (upper floor of bungalow ~ 800 sq. ft.), and will be able to provide most of heating requirements.

I am SO glad I went with BG. I sourced 4 quotes for a mini split set up for my executive bungalow. 3 companies quoted me on two units ranging from 18,000 btu down to 9,000 btu but Brian at BG told me I only needed one 12,000 btu while recommending a completely different set-up than the other 3. His reasons were that his unit blew further and more efficiently which seemed true based on specs. I was impressed with BG's quote but skeptical of the recommended set up. I called him a few days later to have him quote me on two units with the traditional set up. He quoted me a price that was about double the first but insisted I would be wasting my money and his initial quote and set up would suit me best. My wife and I decided to go with BG's "unorthodox" set up with the one pump. We are so glad we did because the house is cooling as well as we could have imagined including the bedrooms at the opposite ends of the hall. Brian could have tried to make double the money but was honest as he felt i only needed the one mini. Install was on-time and the young men on the crew were extremely pleasant and professional and took time to explain everything to me. I couldn't ask for a better experience.
