Just bought an old home this summer and wanted to give it a clean sweep- the guys (Kelvin, Patrick, and Chris) came out today to do my duct cleaning and service the furnace, and clean/service the pellet stove, and I am so happy I gave them a call. They went through everything thoroughly, cleaned up behind them as they went, and came up with solutions when the layout of my old house made it tricky. They pointed out things they fixed or secured, things I would need to address pronto, and reviewed ongoing maintenance needs - everything I needed going into my first winter in my first home!

Woodstove and chimney install a few years ago at a cottage. Closed the cottage that season and when we opened up the following spring the chimney was leaking with interior damage. They wouldnt stand behind the install because it had been a little more than 12 months past the installation date. I paid for them to return. Defective application of caulking was apparently the issue according to the service tech. They had no interest in taking responsibly for the repair (still charged me) or for the damage their poor workmanship caused. Fast forward a few years later and we have another larger leak. Again, they assume no responsibly and need to be paid. Terrible customer service (dealing directly with the owner) and possibly inexperienced or careless technicians. Find another company.

What's nice about an install of a fireplace is when someone takes the time to really explain everything you might need to know: shut offs, backups for power outages, etc... So far, we have been very happy with the service we've received from Fireplaces Unlimited. We contracted for a regular maintenance program and had nothing more to worry about. Over time, Dan found correctly that we needed to replace a part. Unfortunately, the acquisition of the replacement part took forever, and we did not have use of the fireplace for most of the winter. Eventually, Mike arrived with, and successfully installed the new part. The ever cheerful Briana had very thoughtfully arranged the repair in plenty of time. Mike was punctual, careful to protect the area around the fireplace and thorough with the clean-up. He was also informative, not to mention funny. Good job!

Just had both of our chimneys swept and cleaned by Patrick and Chris. One chimney is connected to a fireplace insert, the other to a wood stove. There was a bird's nest in the wood stove chimney. Chris had his arm up to the shoulder in the chimney clearing it out once it fell. Both guys are super personable, professional and did a great job. Patrick also mentioned that it would be a good idea to sign onto a service plan since I will need to have both chimneys cleaned on a yearly basis. No hard selling, just a suggestion which is the way to go with me.

Over the years I've had difficulty finding a truly professional knowledgeable service person although I have tried a few. Finding Dan is such a relief as I now know care of my many fireplaces is in ultra-capable hands. Every profession and trade has a top 5% you are truly outstanding, another 10% were very good, another 20% to our good and the rest are more or less average with the exception of the bottom 20% who should be avoided Dan, in my experience, is in that top 5% group. Great experience; several appointments looking at fireplaces made my decision to use the same company for a water heater and furnace. Guys who came out to do the installation were top notch installers; very professional and a pleasure to deal and talk with. Definitely a recommend. Not sure about the other persons review but everything I received was brand new to my knowledge including hardware... I was on site for majority of the installation and didn't seem to be the type of installers to cut corners. Overall, go in and at least get a quote and decide for yourself; I will be using them again. Dealt with Chris Cox & installation crew.

Ensured install could be conducted in winter. After removing the old stove, stated that install of new stove could not be completed due to snow on roof. They were asked about the snow twice before arrival but stated not an issue. 2 weeks into a stove install and still waiting.

Dan came out to the house to ensure my newly purchased fireplace was set up properly, and to help find a solution to the frame which was not sitting properly against the wall. Upon inspection Dan found the frame to be slightly bent which could be the cause - solution: order a new frame for the fireplace as the one which came with it was bent. I was also concerned about the level of heat produced against the wall, as I was planning to put a TV above it. At that time he helped us to recognize when our wood was dry enough to burn cleanly. We had Scott and Garrett install our gas fireplace today in Brockville and they were extremely professional, courteous and friendly. They explained how the fireplace worked and especially the remote. There was no hard sell at all for either a maintenance contract or a warranty which is really good because sometimes one can get talked into something that you regret later on. I am glad though that they did bring up the ten year warranty as it was one of the best warranties on the market for any type of appliance, especially a gas one. My husband was also with me and Scott and Garrett always either spoke to me personally or included me in the conversation. Not all trades people are like this as they assume that only the guys should know how things work and totally ignore the women. So hats off to you guys, We would both definitely recommend you and your company to anyone else thinking of installed a gas fireplace.
