Move-out clean was sub-par for $257. After the duette staff performed a 4 hr clean, as a landlord whose been in the business for 20+ years, I was less than impressed with Merry Maids. Although the company has a 24 hr customer satisfaction guarantee, circumstances dictated we couldn't take advantage of this opportunity in this particular case. At best 6/10. My poor mother and I were left to pick up where they left off. If you need a good house-cIeaner, stick to private, old-school europeans, and pass on franchise systems.

I hired them based on the high ratings I saw on Google. I should have known better. 5 hours of "deep cleaning" with a $378 price tag. What I got was basic surface cleaning that was not even done well with dirty counter tops, unclean bathroom floor and a broken fridge magnet left on the kitchen counter for me to find. If I wanted basic cleaning, I would have done it myself. Completely unimpressed and very annoyed! Responding to Merry Maids: Why would I lie about your employee breaking my fridge magnet? I didn't ask for a discount and neither did I ask for a refund for the broken magnet. I actually refused the offer for the fridge magnet payment. I gained nothing from letting you know what she did and as I told you on the phone, it wasn't the fact that she broke it (which she most certainly did!) it's the fact that she hid what she did which was and is highly unprofessional.. Yes, your manager came back and I still do not believe the cleaning was worth the price tag. I have had so much better. To those looking to hire them, I certainly will not recommend. You might as well do the cleaning yourself and save yourself the money.

This is from an earlier review I had. Still absolutely no follow up after I post how dissatisfied I was. First NO SHOW then ZERO FOLLOW UP. This review is for the Ottawa East location of Merry Maids. I had been given a gift certificate to use their service and saw first that you need to have one of their employees come to your house to do an evaluation visit and what needs to be cleaned. I scheduled to have one of their staff drop by and they were no show and never called to cancel. A waste of my day. Turns out it was the manager of the company who does the visits herself (I was told anyways). Finally after tracking down the person who was supposed to visit, a second time they did a no show. Eventually after a couple weeks I did get someone to come by and look at my place. I am not sure why this is so necessary when I had mentioned that I had moved in, was injured and just wanted my main floor cleaned and the two bathrooms- I still had a lot of moving boxes in the way to unpack- so wanted just a basic cleaning. The cleaning staff they sent on a different day seemed quite young and could have even been high school students. Their cleaning job was ok and quite average. The cleaners they sent were here an hour total and that was enough I guess. The worst part is no one from Merry Maids even bothered to follow up with me to see if I wanted additional visits. I ended up not using my gift certificate that I had been given as a gift as it was for 3 hours cleaning and in the end I got a refund from the gift card co after such bad customer service with Merry Maid. My visit and dealings with Merry Maid were not this year and what prompted me to write a review was that I spotted an advertisement for their services in a local flyer that was in my mailbox. The company that had issued my gift certificate was "gift card mall" or the service that Shoppers Drug Mart uses for their gift cards. Now if you notice another thing, they no longer carry Merry Maid GC in their store or show them online. And you have to wonder why, esp after my glowing review?? If you do not mind no shows, running around trying to schedule a cleaning consultation- they by all means.

If they're sending you Chelsea. CANCEL NOW! It will be like Chelsea was never there. Just because I do not live at the residence does not mean I deserved to be ripped off. To add to that they will quote you one price, then automatically overcharge your credit card more than that price without warning. Asked them about this and they finally send the overpriced bill. They quoted their service agreement as the reason for no refund and a lot of the unprofessional stuff they did. They did not offer to fix it. The best part is THEY didn't even adhere to the service agreement; The cleaner never did a walk through inspection with the current tenant. It's like they showed up looked around and left to go to a friends place while getting paid for the hours they were supposed to be cleaning. Maybe they lounged around because they thought no one was home... I dunno. Oh the one thing they did do was spray the already sparkling clean oven with toxic chemicals so that next time it was used it went airborne and poisoned the entire house. Brilliant. JUST AWFUL. If you want to set your money on fire. Be my guest.

Paid more than $500 for roughly 4 hour deep clean service, but I did not feel like it was a "deep clean" since we found some areas not cleaned (certain floor corners, etc.). I was also very disappointed with the water marks the mopping left on my hardwood and tile flooring. It was left in a worse shape than it was previously. I had to clean all my floors again, which I felt was a waste of my time and money. I was also promised a walk-through at the end of the cleaning which did not happen. When I reached out to the company they said they would provide a discount for my next booking but after paying so much for a bad quality service I did not want to take their offer. Edit: I already went back and forth with Kelly-Ann Code (Sales Associate). Just writing a review so that others don't end up in the same situation as I did.

DO NOT HIRE FOR MOVE OUT CLEAN. Hired them for a move out clean. The cleaner was supposed to call when done and do a walkthrough. She did not. We don't even know if she stayed the whole time she was supposed to. Floors were not swept or mopped, baseboards were not wiped down. A mask and gloves were left on the counter. Window sills were not wiped down. All of these things were supposed to be done by the cleaner. When the company was contacted, they offered to come back and clean, but AFTER the property had already passed to the new owner. No refunds offered. They took our money and did not do the work. Edit: After this review was posted, we were contacted by the company and offered a 100$ refund.

Unfortunately over time it's new cleaner after cleaner, spending one hour when it used to be two and billing increases in excess of the quote without notice. Totally dishonest. _______ Jazmin is a very efficient and friendly cleaner. I am looking forward to the regular cleaning service.
